Remotasks has a rating of 1.1 stars from 49 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Remotasks ranks 387th among Work At Home sites.
I keep seeing posts that describe Remotasks as a company that doesn't give support, as well as saying that they cut you lose with no warning. I've also noticed that every negative post about them has major grammatical errors, such as run-on sentences, poor punctuation, and formatting. I do not possess a degree in anything, much less english lit. But I seem to maintain a 5/5 quality score. And I'm on two projects at one time with endless tasks it seems. I got promoted to elite tasks today, it comes with a chance to be promoted to reviewer. Ive made over $500.00 in 3 days on tasks. This does not including bonuses. My pending payment says $641.31
Remotasks will continuously make you do unpaid training without assigning you to a project. They are using the writing you provide for free human reinforcement learning.
Timed writing tasks that have very strict guidelines. Don't expect to point out AI grammar mistakes, as it must be how they want it.
I read a task that repeatedly used the words also and additionally, 8 times in one paragraph. I stated the paragraph was not perfect, and I got a ding on accuracy. Another time I prized creativity over structure, and got kicked off the project. Do not recommend.

1. They make you go through 40-minute long courses when you are already assigned to a project, but you can easily have an empty queue after taking the course, what was the point then? Not only you were already doing the tasks which means you already did an initial course and they are making you take another long course, but on top of that it was all for nothing as there are no more tasks.
2. Even though is not a steady job and they very often have an empty queue, the TMs will reach out if you don't put in the hours you are supposed to for the project and will even tell you in order to keep your profile and not be downgraded you need to put in the hours, which you agreed to it initially but why would you do that if you don't have tasks for me? How am I supposed to guess when there are tasks?
3. If you stop logging in for 1 week+, the courses stack up, so in order to get back on, you will most likely spend half a day taking courses for projects that don't even exist anymore, so of course there are no tasks by the time you are done
4. Many many times I've encountered payment issues, being mistakenly removed "but nothing they can do as the algorithm did it",, server errors, tickets taking months so be resolved (if ever).
It's not a scam as they do pay, the thing is I guess you really have to have nothing going on in your life to where you don't mind mindlessly login in in and take endless courses with the hopes that there are enough tasks.
From the surface, this appears to be reasonably well structured as a remote and highly flexible work option that in many cases can utilize higher-level areas of knowledge or skills. The reality I saw through working with them for 3 months was widespread chaos, many irregularities in people getting paid as agreed at the agreed time, highly unpredictable availability of work in some of the projects, and many people being frozen or banned completely because of things like a very inaccurate algorithm deciding they had used AI to help with their task, or a spam reviewer incorrectly marking down their work, leading to low scores and automatic removal from a project or even the whole platform.
If you want to do research for a novel on the dystopian future where robots are our bosses, this would be a great opportunity. If you are simply curious and have zero actual need for the money or for it being a remotely reliable source of income, and won't really care if you get booted either temporarily or permanently for incorrect and robot-produced allegations, it could be worth checking it out. Other than that, based on reading the experiences of many coworkers in multiple different projects via Slack channels and my own experiences, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at this time.
They scam people into completing screening tests which they used as the resources to train their models. SO basically they fail people purposely in order to get the free labour. LAME
The links they sent me (twice) to take the tests to start working for them don't work, so how is this some kind of "high tech" AI company? Seems like BS to me.
The other review is spot-on. You'll spend most of the time training (Like three hours a day). If you get tasks, you will be interrupted by more training before you make fifty cents. Some of the training is really, really tedious. Some of the training will be impossible to complete and the people who are supposed to help on their Discord channel will not even give you a hint. So I've spent like two weeks mostly training, and now I can't continue with the tasks I've already trained for because I can't get past this one training scenario.
If it's one of those days where you're able to get constant tasks, you will receive an email while you work saying that you've been kicked off the project because your speed is too low. If you try to work fast, and you make mistakes, you get an email saying you've been kicked out because of low accuracy. And by low accuracy, I mean over 90%
The only positive is that they pay like clockwork. The one task I was able to do paid $0.003, and it reflected in my PayPal, haha.
I would not recommend this to anyone because the money you'll make won't cover the cost of the resources you'll use.
Tip for consumers:
Since signing up is free, you can check it out and see for yourself.
They hired 16,000 new taskers. They just keep adding more. Why. It's actually crazy and the admins are unprofessional and lack efficient communication. You won't get any work.
They are lacking compassion for time. I have been waiting for days for them to set the permissions for my account and still have yet to do it. Time is money!
It's a scam. They tell you to take a "coding assessment" forever and then fail you. Don't even bother.
I knew I was in trouble from the start with the glitchy site & overall lack of support. Some tasks were extraordinarily difficult with complex and abstract subject matter. For instance I was asked to solve a quadratic equation, which I am more than capable of, however I was unable to pass the linter because they require you to spell out any number less than 10 including decimals! Once you spell everything out, overcomplicating the solution, they come back at you with poor quality scores because it would have "made more sense to use traditional numeric values. "?!?! Then, I was kicked off the project for quality. Upon filing several help tickets, which were marked resolved with no contact or offer of resolution, I suddenly received a warning that I was using AI generating tools for my work. I disputed that as well. I was ignored yet again, then kicked off all projects as a result of my "poor quality" stating that I didnt even pass the generalized screening a month after being told i had done well. I attempted to obtain assistance from the chat feature but was immediately and rudely advised all decisions are final and removed from that forum as well. I did not receive the sign on bonus for the hours I spent completing the onboarding, nor did I receive a referral fee for a friend I stupidly referred when I still had hope that this was a legitimate organization. This company is owned by a California company but based in South Africa so that their non-compliance with standard fair labor practices are not subject to administrative action. US citizens need not waste their time or energy.
I can manage remotasks accounts for the US residents, so anyone having a bad experience you can reach me out via whatsapp:*******308
I was approved to be a Tasker months ago. I signed up under the impression that I would receive $100 after completing my first task and $30 for getting accepted. The $30 disappeared from my account and when I was eventually assigned to a task I couldn't access it. I emailed them multiple times explaining that I was having trouble accessing a task because it kept saying that my account was still in review even though I had already been approved. After I requested the deletion of my account, they sent me a task offer. I explained that I would like the opportunity to do this work for extra money, but I needed to know that I could trust that they would keep up their end of the bargain. My account had not been deleted at this point yet as their prior email said that they would be willing to work with me to address any issues as opposed to deleting my account. I mentioned this to them and they told me that my I was flagged for fraud. Me, the person who told the truth the whole time and asked for nothing but a little of assistance with their platform. They accused me of fraud when they're the ones that wasted my time, stomped out the hope that I could get some extra money in these trying times, and put my credibility at risk as I had told other people about their program. I am many things but I do not lie, cheat, or steal. And the fact that they had the nerve to accuse me of fraud when they wasted my precious time is inexcusable and I wish there was something I could do on a legal basis because this company should not be still be allowed to do business. They took all my information under false pretenses, and then literally added insult to injury.
Tip for consumers:
It would be my recommendation that you don't even waste your time signing up for their platform. Even if by chance you do get access to the tasks, their integrity is not existent.
I worked for 17 hours and was only paid for 5. I am owed for 12 hours of work and when I asked about it, I was ridiculed and banned.
They are scammers they wait for pay for them to say our pay is under verification. If you exceed 100 USD they steal from you projects like BEE 2D, GORRILLA< BEE, SNOWBERRY. I dont know if their customers know how they exploit taskers from India and Phillipines
This is a company dedicated to the systematic exploitation of people around the world. They do not indicate their payments per task, you always do the work and keep the expectation about how much they will pay you (if pay at all). Its review system uses the same taskers (cheaper) and if the review is bad you can claim, if they agree with you they will pay you cents (literally) of difference in your favor, but they leave you the bad rating. The whole process can take up to 4 months (I have proofs). There are reviews so mediocre that they put you up to -*******% and (as is my case) if you constantly complain they ban you and you have to keep the bad review and WITHOUT PAYMENT. That's the way it is, you provide the equipment, pay for electricity and internet, use your time and put in your effort. Remotasks, puts the abuse, mistreatment, exploitation and pays you pennies in return. WITH LUCK AND A LOT OF EFFORT (80 hrs/week) YOU CAN MAKE 80 CENTS PER HOUR! A very modern take on slavery, they just replaced the whip with the mouse. A round business FOR THEM!
They stop your tasking and don't give any reason or explanation whatsoever. They go back against their word. They tell you that they will allocate you to a different project and then never comply. A scam, a complete joke! They answer support questions with AI, i.e., a robot. The robot has a name and it repeats the exact same answer no matter how many times you ask. It's extremely frustrating. It's the most incompetent and totally unprofessional organization I have ever been involved with. Don't bother. Here's a more detailed review:
I was working as an AI trainer completing tasks in field of expertise, Nutrition. After just a few days (as I was SUCCESSFULLY completing my tasks, i.e., they were accepted), I was informed that I was removed from my projects because of "low quality" work, and I was "in violation of Community Guidelines." I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I proceeded to inquire via 'support' as to what is 'low quality' so that I could make any appropriate improvements in my tasking work. I inquired numerous times... each time I received a canned response stating that I did "low quality" work. I NEVER received any hint of a reason or explanation. Then I received a response stating that - "not to worry" - I would be allocated to a different project category, but IF I received another warning flag, I would be let go entirely. Well, the fact is that I NEVER even received an INITIAL warning in the first place! Actually, I received TWO separate emails stating that I would be reassigned. However, I soon received a response from a different rep stating that I was removed from ALL tasking, i.e., let go. Once again, NO WARNINGS, NO REASON GIVEN, AND NO EXPLANATION. This is a completely incompetent and unprofessional organization. To accept an individual as an AI trainer after completing a screening process that took around 2 hours to complete... and then hiring that individual... and then giving that individual several tasks which he successfully completed... to just boot that individual out the door without a specific reason or explanation? I would say that's pretty bush league. This company is a complete a joke and a fraud. They should be investigated.

Don't work for them ... a complete joke, a scam!

I had a 100% rating for the project that I was working on and was banned. I contacted support, and they told me that I was banned for either multiple accounts, spamming tasks, using a VPN, misbehavior, or poor quality, when I didn't do any of those. They said that this decision was made by the admins after a "careful examination" and that this decision is irreversible and that I would not be paid at all for my work last week. I feel like they just don't want to pay you after you make a certain amount of money, as I'd made about $500 in total, including the money I wasn't paid. This company sucks, and I don't recommend working for them at all.
Edit 10/31/2023: Today, I received an email inviting me to come work for Remotasks. I logged into my account and was still banned, but now, I saw a message saying that I could appeal my ban within 14 days. Well, I emailed them to tell them that that was a new message and that I wanted to appeal, and support told me once again that my ban was irreversible because they don't have the authority to unban anyone once they're banned to keep things fair. What's not fair is that they banned me for no reason. Complete clown company.
Remotasks advertises that you can make up to $30 per hour doing tasks aimed to train their AI database. The tasks that you get assigned, however, are very long and require some research on the taskers part in order to perform the task correctly. The task you submit is then reviewed by peer-level graders and the final score determines your pay out. It's said that tasks should take about 30 minutes to perform, but a lot of the research and writing tasks require more time than this. Remotasks seems to pay you based on the amount of time they would prefer you take for the tasks assigned, not how much time you actually spend doing the task.
The grading system and feedback also is quite confusing. I've experienced reviewers completely changing my work, including the prompt and source references for my answers. This lowers your accuracy score, even though your original work isn't being graded or corrected, but changed entirely.
The pay rate makes no sense and there is no explanation as to why you are paid the way you are for the tasks you do. Some tasks will give you a payout of $2 or $3, while other tasks of the same type will pay up to $8 or $9. There is no distinguishable reason for the differences in pay, because the review grade can be the same for both payouts.
Their support and customer service is extremely slow to reply as well, I've sent an inquiry about a task and they took almost 2 months to respond. The task I was asking about was long expired before they responded, and they basically said 'we can't help you with inquiries about an expired task'.
On top of everything, Remotasks claims to have a sign-on bonus of $25, which I never saw.
Overall, Remotasks does pay weekly but the pay is not as high as they claim and the work they want from you is worth more than the compensation.
Tip for consumers:
The work expected of you is of higher value than the compensation they pay.

The platform's advertising touts the potential for substantial earnings, but a closer examination reveals a starkly different reality:
1. **Inadequate Compensation**: Regardless of project complexity, the platform consistently yields an approximate rate of 0.6-1 USD per hour. Regrettably, discrepancies between the actual quality of work and evaluations persist, with minimal feedback or clarification provided.
2. **Unpaid Training Obligations**: A noteworthy concern pertains to certain projects demanding a week-long, unpaid training period. However, this extended commitment offers no guarantee of subsequent project availability.
3. **Website Instability**: Numerous operational issues plague the platform, leading to unexpected project terminations mid-task. These abrupt interruptions hinder timely project completion and may result in unwarranted project bans. Regrettably, communication with the platform's support team to address these concerns remains unresponsive.
4. **Lack of Support**: Efforts to engage with the support team through email channels have proven fruitless. Queries regarding project closures and delayed payments have garnered solely automated responses, lacking substantive follow-up or resolution.
5. **Delayed Payments**: Perhaps most concerning is the prolonged delay in payment processing. Over four weeks have passed, with a balance of $20 in my account, yet no payment has been received, and inquiries regarding this delay remain unanswered.
Moreover, the promise of earning $1 per hour is a substantial deviation from industry standards, raising ethical questions, particularly with regard to individuals from countries with lower income levels. It is disheartening to witness such disparity in earnings, exploiting individuals who may see this as a relatively lucrative opportunity within their economic context.
In conclusion, my initial earnings of approximately $20 were amassed before I realized the disheartening reality of the platform's compensation structure. It is crucial for prospective users to be aware of these issues and exercise caution when considering this platform as a viable means of income. This review underscores the importance of transparency, equitable compensation, and effective support systems within freelance platforms.

Wow, where do I even start? If I could give less stars I would. First off, good luck getting paid. It was impossible to get paid what I was owed and had to wait for an eternity. Bonuses? Lol nope! They promise bonuses for completing onboarding or hitting certain numbers but they never pay you. When you start off it's pretty good and you can make pretty decent money, I guess that's how they suck you in? Then they'll say you're performing poorly on tasks that you're actually scoring high on and move you to another project and have to start the onboarding process ALL OVER AGAIN. Then you wait.
So you then get added to a project except this project is objectively HARDER and requires MORE WORK but you are now getting PAID $10 LESS THAN THE PREVIOUS EASIER PROJECT. But wait, we're just getting started! Before you can even make your measly $12 an hour, they onboard WAAAAAAY too many people, so everyone is fighting for tasks and the queue is empty. It's been months since I've been able to work and I keep getting told that we're just waiting on data from the all mysterious "client" (?) and the admins (who god bless their sweet hearts, are totally useless and know nothing) say it will be 72 hours or that they don't have an update or blah blah blah. Months go by. Absolutely no one knows what's going on there. I swear. If you file a a help ticket you'll get a response from someone who has literally no idea what you're talking about either. They are a robot themselves or they don't speak English because the answers and replies I get back from them are completely nonsensical. They advertise consistent work, but that's a hilarious lie. I think I got to work for about two weeks consistently.
Also, the website is consistently down. So even if they were theoretically work available, you wouldn't even be able to do it cause the site has crashed. Absolute s*** show, 0/10 do not recommend. I don't know, I'm sure a lawsuit will be in their near future. Anyway don't waste your time. The work is inconsistent and boring and pays crumbs. There are much better side hustle sites out there.
They do not pay any money to workers and give lame excuses over and over. Wouldn't reccomend to anyone, complete waste of time
I signed up for Remotasks around May 2023 and got stuck in an AWFUL project so I decided to put a pause on it, especially after reading comments on their Slack page about how reviewers would often poorly rate you and some people were getting kicked off projects, sometimes for weeks at a time and only after continually contacting support would they finally get assigned back on a project. Since I didn't like the project I was assigned to, I thought it was best to put a pause on it until I was assigned to a different one (better to pause than get kicked off). Well, I logged back into Remotasks in July 2023 after getting an email for an incentive to complete a certain number of tasks in 2 days. I thought "Why not" and saw that I was assigned to a different project. After doing a couple of tasks on the new project, I was really happy because the tasks in that project were very fun. I completed more than what was requested for the incentive within the timeframe and stopped. My reviewer rated my tasks very poorly and didn't give any feedback on what I could have possibly done wrong (the tasks were short and very straightforward). I couldn't believe what I was doing so wrong for my accuracy to go from the 80s all the way down to 11% after they reviewed a couple of my tasks. After my tasks were reviewed, none of them had any feedback and I was still at 11% and kicked off the project and did not receive the incentive. It's August 2023, and I have sent 2 complaints about the inaccuracy; all I got was an unhelpful, generic response. Remotasks itself is not very reliable and the way their system works is extremely pathetic. The reviewers are often complained about and I see why after my experience. Their customer service is awful and unhelpful and the pay just isn't worth it. They won't pay the incentives or the referral bonuses and I truly feel they plummeted by accuracy so they wouldn't have to pay the incentive. Remotasks is unreliable and untrustworthy. To sum them up, I would say Remotasks=Digital Sweatshop.
