We haven't received any payback yet. It has been 17 days that we returned the car. I have never have such problem with other companies. I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone. Their explanation was not enough and didn't satisfy. I have all rights to write about this awful experience to online comments in every car hire platform..
No phone numbers or emails to cancel on the Rental Voucher. They don't answer the phone. I cancelled with the company rental.com got my rental from but that was not good effective. I still got charged $426.23
Even though I called the Rental Company on voucher a week before the reservation date.

Just don't. If you have any issues, going through rentalcars.com is such a pain. They will just throw some terms and conditions at you that there is no refund for anything, no matter if the car was returned over a week early. It's better to book though the given rental place itself. It's worth the few bucks more. Believe me. Also insurance wise.

Quick to take your money! Turned up at Orlando International airport with 6 children. Went to Hertz to collect car - no record of our booking, said we should have been there in April. Hertz would not honour the contract from booking.com. Got cut off 3 times on the phone to Rental cars.
Initial booking we paid £1000 for 2 cars - we have yet to get that back. We had to pay another $2000 PER CAR to hire from Hertz.
This is still ongoing - you cannot call anyone, you cannot get hold of anyone.
Absolutely the worst company. Please don't ever book with them.

That was a one off experience we are not likely to repeat! We had to wait for hours to get a filthy, banged up car at our destination. Returned the car early but were still overcharged. Reaction of the rental company: "you need to ask for compensation from the booking site". After filing a complaint when we returned from vacation, total silence. They "closed our ticket" without any further responses.
I would never, ever book here again, it is close to a scam.

After a few months now since my holiday in Greece, it is sad having to say this again: please avoid, especially if you are traveling with your family; it is not worth it, and local dealers can do 20-30% of the price with a little bit of good bartering (no in high season, of course. But still...).
I am now seriously considering to sue rentalcars.com, if only to bring a little bit of fairness to this mess they've made. There are still laws that punish malpractice and, more importantly, written legal commitments. I have spent not only money as such, but time and effort that belong to my family and my work. Now somebody needs to answer for that.
To you travellers, there is a lot of choice out there, inform yourselves, because an informed choice is something that you at least cannot regret. Things happen.

To resolve my issue of the car not being given to me at pickup due to the fact that I booked with my husband's credit card instead of one of my own, I've spoken to around 10 agents. Every time, I was told different things. Their English writing was poor, so bad that a ometimes I could not even understand them. One of the customer service agents promised a solution, but that was then denied by another. At that moment, after spending hours on chats and calls, I decided to take my loss of €700. A gentle warning, do not rent with rentalcars.com to spare yourself from their horrible customer service!

Rented a car in Frankfurt through Rentalcars.com. Company asserts no hidden fees. Yet, it charged an additional $150 to take the car into France. This was never disclosed. In response to my email inquiry, Rentalcars.com admitted it has no idea of what its affiliated charge the customer. So whatever extra is charged is an undisclosed or hidden fee. Then, as a customer, try to complain--Rentalcars.com won't give out a mailing address due to "privacy purposes." Whose privacy is Rentalcars trying to protect? In sum, Rentalcars engages in false advertising and then makes it almost impossible to complain. Never use this company.

We rent and paid for a car with pick up date April 25,2019- airport Sibiu, Romania. When we arrived they said that we can not receive the car because we do not have the international driving permit so they decided to cancel the voucher without our permission and charged us with 144.91$ -cancellation fee. For customers from outside of European Union you need to be more clear about this international driving permit, where we can obtain this permit and how long we can use this permit in Europe! For an American, Canadian, Australian, Asian, it will be helpful!

I had a horrifying experience of renting a car, paying full amount and not being able to cancel 5 minutes later when I realised they won't give me a car without a credit card. It says nothing about it when you book, only after you get the confirmation.

Ordered a manual drive and got an electric car (closer to a toy than a car), ended up in a location with no charging stations, could not make use of the car during my vacation - all my claims were simply ignored and they even considered it as an "upgrade". This is outrageous.

We have used rentalcars.com on a number of occasions. However, on this last occasion, they did not provide us with full and transparent information. Consequently, when we arrived in Spain it cost us an ADDITIONAL £500 to rent a car. Since returning almost 3 months ago, rentalcars.com management have refused to answer our numerous e-mails. They will TAKE your MONEY, but will not look after you as a customer when they have been negligent. DO NOT USE rental.cars.com. I was once an advocate, I am appalled now by their behaviour.

The actual hire went smoothly, but two days after my booking was made I found there to be a charge for a second vehicle on my credit card statement. I immediately contacted Rentalcars and they said that the money would be reimbursed. Two subsequent calls - one of which an agent from Rentalcars hung up on me - and 14 days later still no sign of a refund. I was left with no other option but to contact my credit card company to alert them to the fact that an unauthorised payment was made to Rentalcars.

Extremely dissatisfied with this transaction. I prepaid for a rental car several months in advance and when I arrived at the rental company, Fox, was told that the could not give me a car because I only had a debit card with a Mastercard logo on it. The card had plenty of money for the security deposit hold. I tried calling rental cars.com and no one picked up. The company appears to be based in the UK. I emailed them the same day and received an email the next day stating they would not refund me. I'm now out hundreds of dollars.

I reserved and prepaid for a rental car with Thrifty, through rental cars.com. When I arrived at the airport in the early evening (as scheduled), I was told that my driver's license was no good. It needed to be an "international driver's license", because "we have no agreement with the US for driver licenses, according to the Geneva Convention". Has anyone ever heard anything so stupid? Next day, the excuse was my credit card. When I got home and complained, I was told that I had signed the terms and conditions, and would not be getting anything back.
Terms and conditions are: pay up, but don't get anything in return!

Winter Tyres!
Booked online, it said winter tyres included. At the airport in Geneva, no winter tyres. Instead they charged me 80 Euros to rent some snow socks which are about as useful as a chocolate fire guard. It is a requirement by law in France to have winter tyres fitted, why are they sending their customers in to the mountains with summer tyres. Tried to get a refund and a answer from them, they don't care one bit, complete scammers. Do not trust this company, they are substandard and fraudulent.

I'm always about a second chance. I used rental cars.com twice. Both times it was frustrating and disappointing and almost ruined my vacation. I also got better rates by reserving through the car rental company, like Enterprise.
When I got to counter to pick up my rental, the car rental company did not have a record of it. I was not able to contact rentalcars.com, they don't have a chat or number to call. I had to email, and I am still waiting to hear back from them. They have the worst customer service. They are a scam and just collect your information to sell it.

Booked a car from this company, but the car company I picked up jacked up price by 6 times. Rentalcars.com not able to help me on the spot, and I have to pay extra money to rent another car from another car company as I can not trust the original company. Who knows what kind of $#*!ty things they will do after I return the car.
After my trip, I called rental cars.com to reimburse me for the extra cost, they refuse to include it in the note, and then tell me what is in the note. Basically, this company's internal employees do not even have freedom of speech/written, what kind of culture is it. The only thing they can offer me is full refund, but I paid 4X times more money because of their mistake, they have to pay for it.
Now they give me an email so that I can send complain to, the email is *******@rentalcars.com, such email address does not list in any of its website, who knows anyone actually looking at this email. Any way I will give it a try and demand them to refund me for the extra $499.8 cost.
BTW, my booking number with them is *******, so that everyone knows this msg is legit, from a real rentalcars.com customer, who was hurt by them.

I booked and prepaid a rental car from Rentalcars.com thru Priceline at the same time as I reserved airline tickets. The flight was delayed for a couple of days and I tried to modify my reservation with Rentalcars.com since I had nothing to do with a flight delay. The rental cost price doubled even though the rental time was shorter. It turns out Priceline is not help at all even though they are a partner of Priceline. Beware of ever renting a car thru this site because if you need to make a change they will absolutely gouge you and you have zero leverage. I will never used them again and I wish Priceline dropped them as a Partner because in general Priceline has been OK with me. This was by far a complete nightmare experience.

Bought their insurance. Had a problem and found out is useless. They also have my wrong email on file. I tried to have it changed. It didn't work. I can't read their communications. I do not know anything about my claim
Suggestions:
- Avoid their insurance. Basically if something happens you have to pay the rental company and then claim the money back to them but it didn't work for me
- Check the prices here and then try to actual rental cars. If the price matches rent from the car rental with no intermediary and if you want you can try their insurance. This one they sell it doesn't seem to work

Before you book, the website will tell you that taxes and fees are included in your rental price. Once you paid and print the voucher, it will tell you that additional taxes and fees will be due at the rental counter. And indeed, my wife was charged another $132 when she returned the car, on top of what was supposed to be an all-included rental.
Rentalcars.com is rated "F" by the Better Business Bureau - the worst rating that they can give. Trying to recover this money seems like a waste of my time, based on what other reviewers have reported about attempts to contact customer service. I have used rentalcars.com in the past and I just hope I will remember this in the future and not fall into their trap again.

The Sixt staff was gone when we arrived for our island vacation at 4 PM for a 3 PM reservation. Our flight was delayed, they had our flight number.
I've never experienced such terrible customer service and lack of empathy for the customer. On the phone and via chat no was was willing to help resolve other than to pick up the car the next morning which was not option for our vacation.
Truly despicable customer service, I felt like a burden instead of a customer. Avoid at all costs!
