We haven't received any payback yet. It has been 17 days that we returned the car. I have never have such problem with other companies. I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone. Their explanation was not enough and didn't satisfy. I have all rights to write about this awful experience to online comments in every car hire platform..
Received information from Rentalcars employees that was incorrect. As a result I was unable to receive the car I rented when I went to pick it up. I was unable to contact Rentalcars on the phone at the time, as I was kept on hold until 20.00, after which the line automatically disconnected. They subsequently refused a refund, claiming I had not attempted to contact them.

Through this service we rented a Citroen car in AVIS for a month on the island Gran Canaria for only 180 euros (we take it without insurance)! In the car did not work a cigarette lighter socket and we asked to change the car, we were given Honda Civic with automatic transmission! Super!

Cheaters. Stay away from them. I booked a car - changed my plans and few minutes later i tried to cancel- revise the booking.It wasnt possible, i lost my money. There was in hidden letters cancelation fee same ammount with my booking, so i lost all my money.

Dollar looks to take advantage of and exploit disabled people. We came to the rental counter at MCO airport in Orlando Florida with my wife in a wheel chair. The Dollar employee said the car we had reserved would not have enough room for the wheelchair as well as our luggage so he offered us a free upgrade to a larger vehicle. He went to his supervisor and got the approval for the free upgrade. He even wrote the approval and the supervisors name on the rental agreement envelope holding the rental agreement documents. We were promised no additional cost for the upgrade to fit my wife's wheelchair. Our credit card was then charged over $1200. We have been working for a month to get this error on their part corrected. We have been given nothing but the run around and now we are told they cannot verify the conversation about the free upgrade. They are calling us lyers even though we have sent them copies of the signed agreement with the free upgrade detailed. It appears to me that Dollar saw an opportunity to take advantage of a disabled customer and they did so. I would never suggest to anyone to rent from Dollar or their parent company Hertz.

Used to be a loyal customer of the company. But lately, I experience too many errors once I arrive to pick up the car. The terms they agree with you do not appear at the provider. Typically it takes an hour of phone calls to solve the issue. It gets more frustrating when they offer you a discount on your next booking, but than offer a $6 dollar discount. An offer which is still 60% more than their competitors. While up to a few years ago they had an advantage over similar companies. It seems unfortunate that it doesnt provide anything but higher prices and a lame costumer service these days.

Buyer beware! Don't use. I Purchased car rental and prepaid insurance for car in UK. On arrival local rental told me insurance wasn't valid to take the car. Costly insurance replacement. Essentially trapped to pay more to get a car. Rentalcars had poor customer service and no interest in helping or refunding. According to local car employee it is a common practice.

Got to Miami airport late and the car was no longer available and no more were available. Called carrentals.com and was told they couldn't do anything. Was also told the car rental company was at the Miami car rental center but it was not. Have tried several times to get a refund and have been refused. I don't ever do bad reviews but I feel this one is necessary. Please don't use this company.

We lost all day during our trip in Catania because of rentalcars online booking system.
They working with agency that require credit card, but when we booked a car via rentalcars.com few days before our trip they didn't ask for credit card.We paid with electronic visa.We lost all day and around 150€ to hear from customer support that this is our fault to not knowing something that is required from Goldcar agency but not mention from rentalcars during our reservation.
The check for that type of card is necessary because rentalcars don't work with agency that allows you to pay with electronic card or Revolut.
Finally we took a car from adduma agency that working with all kind of cards!
We will never use rentalcars again!

We rented a car through the website, everything was accepted, then it was cancelled without notification. Their customer service was horrible and they didnt fully payback us.

I rented a car through Booking.com that ultimately processed my car rental through Rentalcars.com for a vacation in Colorado, when I went to the rental company to pick up the car they said they could not accept my pre-paid funds through Rentalcars.com and that I would have to pay for the car directly to them and request a refund from Rentalcars.com. The agent also said that this is a common problem. After my trip I contacted Rentalcars.com to request the refund and all I got was a run around with emails from some different every time they responded. Their customer service is basically non-existent. I'm sure they knew the pre-paid funds would not be accepted, that's how the scam works.

I would put less than a star but not possible. I had two problems in one booking and thanks by customer care system I have paid exactly like I could have had the service but without having it.

They took the money and didn't confirm the car till I contact with them after 24 hours. No offer of an alternative, they asked me to call the local number, in Thailand doesn't exist. I should have called at my expenses in UK. They never contact me after many complains. Meanwhile the prices of rental were going up as the time of pick up was close. After 5 working days no refund after I canceled the booking.
The first guy at the customer service was supponent, the second one at least helped me to cancel the booking. Stay away is not worth it.

Was charged fees at the agency that made the overall cost the same as renting directly through the agency vice going through this middle-agency. Not worth it and will never use again. Call the rental car agency directly and they will be able to provide a discount and avoid the service fees.

Some friends and I were going to rent a car in Europe. We found one through rentalcars.com in the south of France and went to go pick it up. Because of COVID, the expiration date of my driver's license had been extended by the State that I am from. They didn't accept it, however. We then tried to get the name on the booking changed to one of my friends (all of whom had valid licenses). But rentalcars didn't budge. The only option that they advised was to pay for the original car (200 euros) a cancellation fee (150 euros) and a new car (250 euros) if we wanted to get a car that day (total: 600 euros). Even though we all had licenses! So absurd. Stay away.

I thought I was reserving a car for September 2019, but they took my money the next day. Last month (June) they send me an Email telling me that there was a problem with the insurance. They said they can't contact me on my phone and they can not fix the problem unless they talk with me. I told them to cancel all my reservation and reimburse my money so I can make a new reservation, but today is the day that I have no money reimbursed and no more Emails from customer support. I did not make any mistake with the reservation, they did it and now they don't want to refund my money.
Tip for consumers:
Be careful because you may think you are just reserving a car for the future, but they will take your money and if there is a problem you will lose your money because the customer service is inexistent.

Very misleading pricing practices!
The booking process is NOT forthcoming about the significant extra taxes and fees that are NOT included in the rental price. This may represent as much as 2/3 of their so-called "total price"
These should be readily disclaimed at the beginning of the booking process and not in very fine buried at the end of the voucher once the reservation is made (and paid)!

I used it for a car rental. Big mistake. The price was too high, which I did not realize until I used the app again to reserve another car and what was displayed was different than the final screen, which contained the final amount. It was thrice the price. I tried to cancel it right away and although it was less than an hour after the booking the app wanted to charge me almost $200 dollars to cancel. I was fortunate in that I was able to contact a human being at Rentalcars.com and that person refunded the entire rental amount.
In addition, the first rental I booked using the app I was quoted $264, way too high, and the rental car agency charged an additional $300. My first mistake was to think a four day rental was worth $264 and secondly to rent from Budget Rental Car. Their fees and options are a pure "rip off." Never will I use Budget or the Rentalcars.com app. I am finished!

Prior to booking it reads no cancellation fees. You can cancel up to time of rental. I cancel and they take my full booking amount stating no refund. Tried calling and live chat and hung up on. Called Dollar rental where my car is booked and they don't have my booking. Now they have my money and my card details and I can't get in touch with anyone. Their name is just a trading name, they are booking.com and when you call they are Priceline. So many names and so many false claims on their website. They are actively looking to steal your money and are definitely not about finding you a fair rental. There is no customer service at all. I can't reach anyone. I have reported them to the better business bureau and you should too.

I hired a car and went to collect it and was told that I need to be driving for over a year. I have been driving on a provisional for almost 5 years and on a full license for 7 months. I went to pick up the car and they told me I cannot have it. I asked how o can get a refund they told me I need to phone the number. I called and gave been on hold several times for 15 to 20 minutes and i am calling from Portugal... I was told today finally after almost 20 minutes on hold that I will not be given any form of refund! That is £186! But to mention that I have spent 120 to and from the airport and an stranded for 12 days without transport! Absolutely shocking service! Basically there was not negotiating not even half the fees! I was simply told no!

We rented a car through rentalcar.com this July and have prepaid all rental fees CDN 897.03 to them. When we picked up the car at Fox LAX, the POS declined my majar credit card directly without requiring PIN to make a $150 deposit. The staff, Mario told us that we needed to pay a new booking to get a car then contact rentalcar. Com to cancel the booking to get the refund and he would make a note about this occurence. After 20 days waiting for the investigation, rentalcar. Com made an excuse to refuse the refund. We paid twice for a rental car. We were ripped-off CDN 897.03 by rental. Com.

Booked a hire car with full protection Insurance. Advised I would need to pay a deposit on collection. I was advised that I would get this back if I returned the car. The deposit was only partly refunded, £122 withheld saying this was an additional insurance Policy! Don't use Rental Cars or GoldCar

Flight delayed by 30 mins. When we arrived to pick up car, they had gave away our prepaid car. Call centre refused to help. Only channel via form. After submitting claim we received automatic reply saying sorry and good luck next time. We have lost £850 and rentalcars.com is refusing to return our money. BUYERS BEWARE DONT USE THIS VENDOR!

Booked a car, amount was taken from my credit car but when I arrived after a 9hr flight they never received any booking from Rentalcars. I had to rent a car and pay again because Rentalcars did not even answer my emails or phone calls. A lesson well learnt!

They don't actually give the option to cancel so you don't get refunded. I tried to call them at 1:30PM and apparently they don't work at that time. They said "no hidden fees" and when I got to the company the price more than doubled. Total scam!

The majority of the reviews reflect accurately the performance and the honesty of this company. I booked and provided payment details for a 7 seater that was not available and on arrival was offered a 5 seater. The agent did not care and did nothing.
They are low life and are very bad agents. Recommend booking direct with the actual car rental company and stay well clear of these cowboys.
