We haven't received any payback yet. It has been 17 days that we returned the car. I have never have such problem with other companies. I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone. Their explanation was not enough and didn't satisfy. I have all rights to write about this awful experience to online comments in every car hire platform..

I booked a car and payed in advance, and when I came to rental car office the agent refused to issue the car to me because I didn't have international driving licence and he also told me to contact Rentalcars.com by email to ask for full compensation which I did. However, I got into multiple day chain exchange of different people working for Rentalcar.com, who are always referencing the terms and conditions, without even trying to see that there was a mistake in their personnel procedures, which has led me to lose all my rights to reclaim. This is clearly a SCAM and this company robbed me. I strongly advice anyone to avoid this company, as they have horrible treatment of customers.

Read terms and conditions first before anything.

Made a booking... no confirmation email... with booking reference... money taken... online booking retrieval process hopeless... 2 hrs on waiting list on phone number listed with no response... overall crap experience... forced to make another booking with same rental car company via competitor search engine to ensure I could meet appointments... believed I was scammed until collecting car from company and assistant asking if I had booked another car and I explained the above.

Arrived at the desk to find the car company requires some additional charges not listed on the original transaction. Outrageous. Will never use them again, and spend some part of my existence prospecting this message about them.

We reserved a car rental in May for late August 2021 to attend a wedding. The fires in the lake Tahoe area of CA caused the wedding to be cancelled two weeks in advance of it. We cancelled our car rental but rentalcars.com had already charged us. Their customer support in nonexistent to resolve this charge. We reversed the charge on our card, but Rentalcars.com still claimed the charge. We are out $331 for nothing. I will never do business with them again and I don't recommend you do either.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use rentalcars.com. They do not have any customer service.

I have booked many times with you, but this is the last one. I am still waiting for a solution for my claim that was more than 28 days ago, answer that you easily give to every customer without taking care. The easy way in the world is being an easy going company until the moment the customer finish the booking process. After that yes you are welcome to come back but don´t mess much around with previous bookings. I am still waiting for a serious response from my booking ******* that never comes. And every time I called the answer is we will get back to you in less than 24 hours. This every day since July 21st that was my first call and after more than 28 days waiting for an answer and only receiving non sense emails once and again. Unacceptable. I am not longer recommending you anymore and I will talk bad every time I have the opportunity to…. Thanks for anything!

1 star is over-rated! At the counter at Dublin Airport they refused to accept the insurance I bought through rentalcars.com and told me I would have to buy their own expensive insurance. I decided not to rent the car anymore because that was just too expensive for me. Rentalcars.com said I cannot get a refund. They sold me a useless voucher that was not usable unless I paid a lot more than promised. They also requested a $5,000 deposit at the counter. Lost my money and didn't get a car. Lesson learned: Never rent through a middleman. Always rent directly from the car company.

We rented five seat car, but later on needed to change for seven seat. I have made a phone call and the gentleman handled the swap. When we arrived, there was no car what so ever. After THREE HOURS on the phone with their customer service we were informed they do not have any seven seat car and there is nothing they can do.
At the end we were forced to pay for another car (it was only a pure luck there was another person with driving license).
I have made a formal complaint. The manager of Rentalcars claimed we used both cars so there is no refund in force. Well, they were the ones who made a mistake, failed to deliver the correct car, had no clue how to fix the problem, were not willing to fix it but where more than happy co charge me for another car!
Very uncivilized manners and unprofessional behavior.
Never again.
Hire yourself a car directly, that is the best piece of advice I can give you.

I cancelled a booking, due to unforeseen details once booking was confirmed.
Cancellation email stated that it could take up to 7 days to return booking - now at day 10 and no refund, and struggling to get in touch with them. Definitely would not recommend.

Do not use this company. Hire car was covered in advertising, staff were 40 minutes late at airport for return, we had a flight to get on. Deposit still not returned after 34 days, still waiting. Staff very incompetent, would never use this company again.

Book car company's direct, this is a disaster in so many ways. Long hold times, terrible customer service and of course the actual car company's have no idea who these guys are and don't know you have a reservation with them

Rental cars.com has a policy of cancelling your booking and keeping YOUR money if you do not show up within TWO hours of the time you booked your car for. This must happen all the time at airports as many flights are delayed. Even though they had my flight number and I called them when my flight had been cancelled they cancelled my booking. This is THEFT. They should be stopped from trading

Due to cancelled fights and making connections from Italy to the US, I returned the rental car one day earlier than the period for which I had already paid up front (an expensive three-week rental with "trip insurance")
The provider, Sicily By Car said "no problem, you will be refunded for one day". That didn't happen; after the trip, Rentalcars.com Customer Service refused to honor the verbal promise to refund.
When I appealed to Rentalcars.com, they said the refund was "denied". In addition, the 3-week rental was overpriced to begin with.
I used them in the past with few problems; I'll never use them again.
People, read the reviews—-bad customer service. Do not get scammed.

Tip for consumers:
No refund was allowed even though I returned the car a day early. The three-weeks rental was prepaid by me.

False representation and advertising. Awful customer service. Hideously overpriced. I had the displeasure of dealing with this company at a low point of my life and am still waiting for a refund after I cancelled my booking within an hour due to being misled about the service offered. I was spoken to like dirt by a very unprofessional and rude member of staff.

I am so disappointed with them. Got a problem with the rental company. I gave them actual proof/documents showing they were lying. Still, after 3 month they tell me they will not pay me back 400 USD even though the car company lied.

So, if everything goes well with your rental, fine. But if anything goes wrong, they will not help you. For that reason I strongly suggest to NOT use their services. After sale service is slow and totally inadequate. And will never help the customer.

Nowhere on their platform did they indicate that Hertz does not accept paper driving licence, Yet they charged me EURO 199 for their own failure., What a joke. I used that platform for years but even after so many years of loyal service, they treat you like $#*!,

Check the individually rental policy for each car rental company and book direct..

I had to pay 185$ to hold a reservation, they gave me a booking number that was non-existent. The car rental agent could not find the booking anywhere. Ended up paying several hundred dollars more for a late night, last minute reservation. Trying to contact them was like trying to win a staring contest. On hold for over an hour before i gave up and called my credit card to just go ahead and dispute the charge. It seems like a total scam.

I was told I could only cancel a booking if I first made a subsequent booking, which I did.
But they never reimbursed me for the first.
Terrible customer service trying to resolve this. After several calls and online chats (when they admitted it was their error) they still did not reimburse me.

I had very bad expertise with the company rentalcars.com, once they need to sell the car everyone calls but once you buy it, no replays to emails and no after sale support at all. Its also not the first time and I have evidence of what Im writing.

Its warning next time I will make sure to avoid this website

Was told on the website when I reserved the car, that I paid $65 deposit to hold the rental -- checked my cc and found an additional $81 charge. Tried calling them numerous times, was on hold each time for 10+ minutes; left messages for them to return my call -- no one ever did -- cancelled car rental six weeks prior to trip -- was charged $65 cancellation fee. These people are awful.

Complete fraud - always question going with the cheapest! Better off going with well known names who don't hire fees or deposits to quote you the lowest. Please don't make the mistake we did and don't use this company! Everything about them is a show.

Rentalcars and Avis both scam customers and don't favour them during dispute. Rented a car in France from Avis via Rentalcars, car came with same amount of fuel as when returned but still charged for fuel and refuelling fee. To give an idea, their charges were double the amount of fuel used throughout the entire trip so yes it is a scam. Rental was cheap but I guess Avis made their profit back with these hidden charges, and Rentalcars do not have your back when you're treated so by the providers. AVOID

Very bad! I always book a car with this portal but this te was really unfair for us! I ll never book with them again! Bare in mind to read term & conditions, if you miss out 1 words they ll not refund any money back to you! Unfair! How you can do such a business like this? Never think of customer!

They charged me twice and refused to return one payment back.
Rental Cars is nothing short of outward deception using its platform to fleece clients who choose to rent cars. Better to go with a bigger rental company in future!

I used rental cars.com for the first time because I was in the midst of a complicated relocation from the UK to Canada and didn't have time to research car companies individually. Big mistake! Rentalcars.com charged me nearly three times as much as Avis actually charges for the car in Canada. Rental cars.com is taking advantage of people like me who are moving between countries frequently and don't have time to research the real rates of cars in a given country. Needless to say, I will never use them again, and I hope this warning helps others in similar situations.

I booked a car through rentalcars.com then phoned ahead to ensure the car was available. Was told by car hire location that all of their cars were booked and nothing was available. Got in touch with rentalcars.com before pickup time to let them know that it was not possible to pick up car and requested refund. I have since contacted them twice, first time (since day of hire) they had no refund request on my record and now they have raised a case. Not sure what the hold up is as a week later I haven't received a refund or any communication.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use this site unless you want to give your money away and receive nothing in return. Would have been better of donating to a charity
