We haven't received any payback yet. It has been 17 days that we returned the car. I have never have such problem with other companies. I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone. Their explanation was not enough and didn't satisfy. I have all rights to write about this awful experience to online comments in every car hire platform..
Rentalcars is a shady company, misrepresenting / misadvertising their prices.

Worst experience ever- DO NOT USE!
We made an amendment 16 days before the trip, kept inquiring ( via online chat) about the status but was told to be patient without given any information. 3 days before the trip the amendment was denied, the agent offered another rental which was $100 more expensive than the original ( expected, since it is so last minute). The day of our flight it is still not confirmed, after multiple inquires with agents, the said to "Just show up at Hertz at said time, and we guarantee there will be a car for you" ( I have screen shots and emails to proof all this). We showed up and was told that the requested was denied 48 hours ago. After spending an hour on hold and more than $50 on long distance calls we gave up and rented a car for another counter at the airport. Because of the last minuteness, it costed us about $400 more than my original booking. 5 hours after the time we were supposed to pick up the car, an agent called and informed us there was no car available, when we complained about our whole experience, we received no apology, just a statement that we "followed company policy".
I have been traveling thought out Europe, N and S America, Asia, and Australia on more than 40 trips in the past 15 year. This was my worst experience with a rental car agency to date.

I payed for a car in Tirana airport through this company and because I was later the time I supposed to pick up the car the flight was delayed when I got at the car rental office they told me because you are late the car is not available any more,, the car was payed for,,they didn't offer me another car,, I try to contact them nothing,, they had cancelled a car I had pay,, they do refund,, after I called them so many times they refund some of my money,, they charged me £70 for nothing,, this company is run by crooks,, Better pay more money to someone else and you know you get the car,, with this company you loose your money

We rented a van via rental cars.com for a trip to Punta de Mulita Mexico. Paid in full and bought insurance covering $75k for the car and $1mm for liability and injury.
Arrived at the counter of Europcar as per contract and were told we needed to buy another $271 policy or they'd refuse to let the car.
Rental cars.com has no customer service number or chat or text or email so we're left to deal with the issue in a foreign country with absolutely fraudulent agents insisting I pay them or walk away with no car.
I did call American Express because this is on my Platinum Business card. Amex sent the agents the policy and explained to them, in Spanish that I was indeed covered as per Mexican laws and rules but the agent remained insistent that we pay the extra money to them.
I tried everything I could to get rentalcars.com to help but they don't respond and there is no service at all post taking your money.
I walked away with no car, went to another agency and rented another car without issue, using the same insurance policy id presented to Europcar.
I now have to work through Amex to get my refund because, again, rentalcars.com has no customer contact at all.
Tip for consumers:
This company has no customer service contact email, chat or phone at all. No way to get help or resolve an issue other than through your own credit card company.
Inaccurate description of terms and service and you'll not get the car you paid for.

This was the worst rental car experience of my life. I booked through their site with Ace Rental Cars. I prepaid for a 5 seat vehicle which cost $580; due to a larger party, I upgraded a month later to a 7 seater, which cost an additional $780. Upon arrival in the middle of the night, we found they gave our 7 seat vehicle away and only had a 5 seat vehicle to offer. The clerk was rude and told me to take it or leave it. When asked for the price to be adjusted, he handed me the manager's business card and told me to call in the morning. Repeated calls to the manager at that location as well as emails to both Ace and Rentalcars.com corporate went unanswered. When I complained to Rentalcars.com after coming home, they said that since I took the car and signed the rental, I am out of luck. I could have saved the extra $780 if I'd known they would do this. Rentalcars.com allows unethical car rental companies to continue to do business. I will never rent with them again and I suggest everyone else do the same.

We paid for car for collection at Dalaman on arrival in evening. Landing we found no one there to meet us and on ringing them they denied all knowledge of us. This despite having a voucher to prove our booking. They finally arrived with a totally unsuitable car for 3 adults 2 teenagers & luggage. Man said. We not expecting you till tomorrow. Their error he said. A Renault with barely road legal tyres, a selection of dents and no room at all. We were told this is it, take it or leave it. Bring car back tomorrow and we will exchange for a bigger one. That would have entailed a 4 hr round trip drive. No apology, no refund for the lower group of car just told to contact company. When we did the next day they spoke to hire company (fox hire) who said our fault for being late! We were in fact dead on time. We are now trying to deal direct with rentalcar.com. It like banging head against a wall. Worst customer service ever. Have since read similar reviews of their bad service. Avoid. Not a good start to our holidays.

We rented a car in at Mexico City Airport for 4 weeks in December 2017. We paid $317 US for rentalcars.com insurance (months in advance as required). When we arrived at Europcar at the airport we were told by the agent (none of them spoke any English at ALL!) that they would not honor rentalcars.com insurance and they would not rent us a car unless we paid them $908 US for their insurance! There were 3 other renters in line who booked through rentalcars.com and each one of them were screwed too. This tells me that rentalcars.com and Europcar both knew in advance that their insurance would not be honored, and that the HUGE cost to use Europcar's insurance would be required. I tried to call Europcar and was put on hold for 45 minutes, so we had no choice but to pay their rip off price for insurance. I have seen crooks before in my life, but these guys are above and beyond anything I have experienced. IF YOU BOOK WITH THESE CRIMINALS, YOU WILL BE SCREWED. COUNT ON IT.

When things go bad at the counter after booking with Rentalcars then DO NOT expect much support. And be very careful of their Cancellation Fees even when the car renter cancels on you. And DO not use their Insurance as tryin to get a refund requires excessive evidence of NOT getting a car. In the end I have lost $620AUD and still had to use Hertz next door to get a car! Never have I ever been told that I had to give 48 hours notice to cancel a reservation or I get nothing back! That was not stated ANYWHERE when I rented a car through them. My plane was late, I didn't make it to the counter at exactly 12, and these criminals canceled my reservation and gave me ZERO refund! $300! I'm taking the bank dispute route, because this should have been in BOLD WRITING WHEN I MADE THE RESERVATION. Horrible. Deceitful. Criminal. Stay far away from this sham company!

Hello everyone
After such an experience i was wondering that i must share this so that a maximum of people is aware.
I booked a car for 3 weeks and when i went to the desk to get the keys, the agent refused all my credit cards including a business card that i have always used for deposit purpose. He said in our conditions we accept only credit but not debit cards. I asked him then to cancel and he said ok, it is cancelled.
I needed to move asap because i had an appointment so i went to another company and took another car.
Two days later i found out that the booking was still ongoind on rentalcars and When i contacted them, they said they didn't receive any cancellation and they cannot do anything… i asked them to cancel the booking, take cancellation fees and refund me the rest they said sorry there is nothing we can do!
I tried multiple calls and emailed different services but they still say the same thing.
This is really pathetic, Rentalcars are not capable of helping even a loyal customer who has been using their services for years.
From now on i will use renalcars only as a comparator and then book directly from rental companies.

I booked a Renault Clio for a 24 hour rental for £267.68 at Birmingham airport via rentalcars.com / Sixt, upon presenting at the collection desk I was told I wasn't eligible for the booking due to having 3 points on my license from a single minor motor offence committed 11 months prior.
There was apparently some small print buried in the text of my rental agreement stating I needed a full clean license, when I tried to phone rentalcars.com they flatly told me I should have checked the conditions of the booking and that no refund was possible, except for an insurance refund of £28.70
I paid hundreds of pounds to rent a small cheap vehicle due to a last minute emergency, which mistakenly lead me to believe I could expect a modicum of customer service to be included, but ended up having to go next door to Enterprise rent-a-car and pay again for another rental due to this "problem".
I strongly advise anyone not to make a booking with rentalcars.com or Sixt, they are unscrupulous traders who will bury undesirable terms and conditions within the rental agreement, which will likely lead to you being ripped off or unable to rent the vehicle, or possibly both (as has happened to me).

Will never ever use this third party company again.
My recent rental ended up costing nearly twice as much as the charges quoted that I accepted and prepaid!
I was quoted for 'full insurance cover' and paid for it.
When I collected the car booked, a few months later, Hertz said no, I had no insurance at all. I paid again, thinking perhaps it was an oversight and could be sorted later. Big mistake.
Nope.
There's obviously some kind of double- dipping scams going on, whereby RentalCars charges you for insurance. Then there's the hefty VAT charge added on at the end of the rental - another complete surprise of the bad kind.
Argued with RentalCars and somewhat to my surprise the 100AUD 'full protection' insurance charge has been refunded to my cars. Wonder if it was because I wrote and told them I had two independent witnesses to being told by Hertz that I had no insurance?
Will never never use them again. It would have been cheaper overall and not have involved much time arguing with their 'customer service' about the extra charges later.
Avoid like the plague. I feel ripped off.

Beware of dealing with this company they do not stand behind their bookings. I rented a car through their service for my trip to Vancouver. The price quoted tax included was 389.00 but when I got to the Vancouver I was told by Budget that they were having issues with Rentalcars.com and had advised them on numerous occasions over the last few months that their system was quoting without the tax included. I was told to contact them and when I did I spoke to someone who said file a complaint with the company and they will refund you the difference. Well that was not the case at all I was told by them that it was a" quote" and since no money was exchanged between myself and their company I should go back to Budget for a refund. It is their system that is not quoting correctly so Budget is not going to refund me. It should be them refunding me the 134.00 difference that I had to pay because it was their mistake but they do no stand behind their booking so never again will I use their services and I advise anyone who is thinking of using them to think again. There are other companies that provide the same services they do or the Rental car companies themselves at least they will stand behind the price given when you book a car.

They are very dishonest and don't list all the hidden fees in their service. I booked a car from Bergamo to drop off in Milan and was charged 305EUR for a one way drop off fee (which was less than an hour away). This was never mentioned in the terms on rentalcars.com. NEVER EVER USE THIS SITE.

A TERRIBLE COMPANY. They stall, do not solve the problem.
Paid for my car, 2 Days, full protection.
It was stated in the rules I needed to present at the pick up with 100 eu extra deposit in a card.
I present at the pick up location. The company asks for 200 Eu extra deposit in a card. My card only had an extra 120 eu not 200. (The policy stated in rentalcars.com stated 100 eu not 200 eu)
Mind you i had already paid my full rental + full protection insurance.
I WAS NOT GIVEN THE CAR.
I contacted RentalCars countless times, explained on the date, during and after the rental period. They just kept stalling, asking for a « new complaint, new request, new pin, new this new that »
They do not contact you back or They contact you back and do nothing. Just just keep STALLING. Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Do not use these guys. I I could give them zero stars that is what I would. They are completely dishonest. I cancelled my car as per their criteria.
