“Deposit hasn't paid back on time”

We haven't received any payback yet. It has been 17 days that we returned the car. I have never have such problem with other companies. I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone. Their explanation was not enough and didn't satisfy. I have all rights to write about this awful experience to online comments in every car hire platform..

I recently reserved a car from Dollar and then modified the rental within 24 hours of making the first reservation which was weeks ahead of the rental time frame.
On the App I saw that the reservation had been cancelled and that I would not be charged for the cancellation.
While calling my credit company to ensure that my card would work for the time that I would be out of the country the representative told me that there were two rentals on my credit card bill and that there was a small refund which was the difference between the first reservation from Dolar and the second from Thrifty. Rentalcars.com maintains that they have refunded me what they owe me and requested screen shots of the statements form the bank.
After submitting the screen shots I was told by another person there that screen shots were not enough and that I would have to present statements from the bank. I've since done that and have been waiting three days now for an answer. I have since informed my bank and they will be handling this matter as a case of credit card fraud.
I have used this company in the past without problem but I never had the need to use the customer support from them before.
I hope that this matter gets solved quickly since the bank is taking over the process now.
It's been over three weeks since this whole process began and I had to spend valuable time during my vacation dealing with this matter.
It's a shame that I will have to look at another company the next time that I rent a car because I've had nothing but good experiences with them up until this point.

Tip for consumers:
After making a modification to a rental confrim that your credit card hasn't been charged for the initial reservation

I paid $490 for a rental car I had for TWO DAYS in Sicily through this agency. It was originally rented for 11 days, and I had to turn it in after two days because of an unavoidable change in plans. No appealing to customer service resulted in any refund whatsoever. Part of that rental was the so-called EXCESS insurance charge. Besides not getting any refund from the original reservation, I was actually FINED when I came to turn the car in. BEWARE of this company! They have no compunction in defrauding customers. Also know that they are AFFILIATED with PRICELINE, but when I tried to bring this matter up with them, they washed their hands of the matter.

Dollar looks to take advantage of and exploit disabled people. We came to the rental counter at MCO airport in Orlando Florida with my wife in a wheel chair. The Dollar employee said the car we had reserved would not have enough room for the wheelchair as well as our luggage so he offered us a free upgrade to a larger vehicle. He went to his supervisor and got the approval for the free upgrade. He even wrote the approval and the supervisors name on the rental agreement envelope holding the rental agreement documents. We were promised no additional cost for the upgrade to fit my wife's wheelchair. Our credit card was then charged over $1200. We have been working for a month to get this error on their part corrected. We have been given nothing but the run around and now we are told they cannot verify the conversation about the free upgrade. They are calling us lyers even though we have sent them copies of the signed agreement with the free upgrade detailed. It appears to me that Dollar saw an opportunity to take advantage of a disabled customer and they did so. I would never suggest to anyone to rent from Dollar or their parent company Hertz.

I am one of the many conned/misled customers of rentalcars.com as well. I have rented a car through their website with "Budget" - on arrival at the desk - I have been told that I need a "International Driving Permit" since my driving licence is "Turkish" driving licence. During the booking process - on the website I have clearly stated that I live in Turkey and my driving licence is Turkish. The booking went through and I had a confirmation mail saying - you are all booked and to pick up the car - you will need 1.Driving licence 2. Passport or ID card 3.credit card 4.voucher... No where in the confirmation it says - you will need to provide "IDP". Apparently its in the terms and conditions which goes on and on... I can't get refund because I didn't provide the necessary paper work which I have no knowledge of. So I have to cancel my booking for the misleading website informalities and as well as getting stuck - I have to pay for the car rental I can't even have. I have rented so many cars before from so many different providers and no one ever asked me this document before - including "Budget/ Avis". And with a very poor customer service - the only response I get from rental cars is - "you agreed with our terms & conditions" so get on with it. Embarrassing and shameful business with matching customer service.

I rented a car from Manchester Airport In July for 5 weeks. Rentalcars took full payment form my credit card for the hire but when I went to pick-up the car, I was told I would have to pay an extra 17 pound because I was picking up the car early. How early was It?. It was 20 minutes early. I asked if I came back in 20 minutes would I be charged extra, the guy said "No" I came back after 25 minutes, the guy took my details, driving license and so on, then asked my for my credit card for any damages when the car was returned. The company refused to take my credit card because it did not have a 'chip' in the card. This is the same card I used to pay Rentalcars. After being humiliated at the desk, I then had to find my own transport to Shropshire. I emailed Rentalcars on July 15, finally (because they hide there email address on the site) explained what had happened and expressed I would like a refund and explanation, why Rentalcars accepted my credit card but I was not told it would be refused at the Airport. At this moment, 30th November (That is 6 months) I have not had an explanation or a refund. I am still waiting! I also have a voice recording of my conversation at the Airport.

I rarely write up reviews, but feel I should share how badly handled the customer service was with rentalcars following a booking 3 months ago. I had made a booking through Rentalcars at Sofia airport with Enterprise at 4am, rentalcars had my flight number and had ensured there would be a rep as they provide out of hours service. On landing, no rep to process our booking. I spent 2 hours trying to contact people locally from Enterprise and contacted Rentalcars who also tried to get in touch, nothing. As it was early there was only one other local hire car agency open, Rentalcars advised I could make a booking through them and they would reimburse the difference. Good service I thought. I even checked the price difference with them to ensure it was OK. 3 months later I'm still trying to claim this difference as promised on their recorded calls, they have tried to fob me off saying the flight number wasn't recorded but has been easily been proven wrong by me with their confirmation bookings. Completely dire service leaving me out of pocket.

I booked through Priceline and was redirected to this scam site. They charged me for 2 reservations. I cancelled one and was then sent a confirmation the day. THE CAR WAS NOT READY AT THE AIRPORT AND THEY REFUSE TO REFUND MY MONEY BACK1
I contacted my credit card company and they said they would not refund me despite cancelling and picking up because I reported them to my credit card company. BEWARE!

I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS
As someone mentioned before this is a company with no morals
I am so disgusted with the lack of support I received. All I wanted to do was modify the name and they wouldn't let me.
I had to pay an extra 200€ to rebook the same car directly with the rental company
When I called crying to ask for help the customer service agent hung up on me

Please don't book with them and go directly to the car rental company

I have been renting through The Rentalcars.com website several times per year for about 3 years now and have been very pleased with the prices I have paid. For example, when British Airways / Avis wanted £700+ for a 7 seater Dodge Grand Caravan in San Diego, Rentalcars got it for me for £250.

However, I am prompted to write due to two positive experiences with their Customer Service. Last December I had booked a car an Innsbruck airport through rental cars. The night before travelling to Innsbruck I printed out the paperwork and found the particular rental company would not accept American Express. I phoned Rentalcars and they managed to change my booking to another company that accepted American Express and were cheaper than the original one!

In May I booked a car for a week at St John's airport in New Foundland, Canada. Unfortunately, I accidentally forgot to pack my driving licence. I rang Rentalcars from Canada but they were unable to help me get a car without my licence. They told me to ring their customer services when I got home. I did this and within two weeks they obtained a full refund of £250 for me from the car rental company.

I do not take the extra insurance they offer because, being a regular traveller, I pay about £80 per year for an online insurance that covers all the rip-off excesses charged by car rental companies.

We hire Enterprise car rental services, through RentalCars, for a weekend, worth 92 (prepaid). A credit card was required and we both had a credit card, but we did it with my card and put the other person as a driver.

Upon arrival at the airport, we were told that the cardholder should be the same person suscribed as driver. So we told them to indicate myself as a driver, but after 40 minutes calling the two companies, we were forced to rent another car (paying it in cash) and nobody returned the money from the other rental.

In short, they forced us to lose 40 minutes of our weekend holiday so that in the end we paid another rent and nobody returned the almost 100 we had paid for the previous car.

Once back from our weekend, we reported about the situation to both RentalCars and Enterprise, and they both washed their hands. They told us they were very sorry, but they have kept the almost 100 prepaid rental.

What a scram! What a fraud!

When booking with Rental Cars on line there is no mention of an airport charge. The quotation actually said, "This is what you will pay US$154.00" (for 12 days)

At Hertz check-in in Barcelona I was informed that there would be a 40 Euro airport charge in addition to my rental charge. She pointed out that in my rental voucher it does say, in very small print, that there may be an airport charge. At this point the booking is already confirmed and no one would guess there would be any change from the advertized price. The agent said that she had worked all over the world and there was always an airport charge. Furthermore, the agent was very rude: "you have rented the smallest car possible, she said, are you sure?" Then, she didn't just ask me for my credit card and passport. She said, "no credit card, no car." I don't know if this was her sense of humor. Finally, I gave the car back a week earlier but there was no refund possible from RentalCars. Never had this experience with renting cars. I booked directly with Avis for a larger car in Bilbao. Got a price similar to Rentalcar's price on their smaller car. No airport charge. Great service. What is the point of going through a broker for no price advantage, being stuck in a contract, and having to pay unexpected extra charges?

Rental number *******
Made a full prepayment for 5 days for &150 through Rentalcars.

Should have received the vehicle from Green Motion in Turkey for 10 days.

We arrived at the office of the company on the day of the lease.
We had all the documents and an electronic credit card in the driver's name in our smartphone.

Green Motion refused to issue a car because they need a physical plastic card, not an electronic one.
The rental rules indicate that a credit card is needed, but it is not specified that it must be a physical, plastic one.

Now it is 2021, they do not take physical credit cards with them - there is Apple Pay and Google Pay, it is much safer than a physical plastic card.

Green Motion canceled the lease immediately at the time of contact, there were no problems with this.

Rentalcars refused to return $150, they just kept them for themselves!

They wrote, explained - to no avail. They answer that they are sorry and that's it.
No car, no money.

I read the reviews - people have similar problems - just what is wrong - neither the car nor the money.
If you want to book a car, it is better to book on the spot or directly with the company.

Do not use Rentalcars, you will save both your nerves and money.

I booked a car and used their system online to amend the booking for a different airport. The amendment process was easy and said I'd receive an email confirming the change.
The morning of the rental comes and I still haven't received an email. I called and asked about it. They said no amendment was processed and I'm out a total loss. They said I book through them again they'd return 40 dollars out of the 130... I explained over and over it was a technical issue and feel like they were at least partially responsible. I talked to "Lloyd" who was very rude and insisted it was fully my fault. I wanted to compromise to no avail. He wouldn't give me his last name or employee number so I couldn't locate him through his managers. If you're hiding your name you're probably acting unprofessional.

Needless to say don't pay them ahead of time. If you change your reservation you won't get your money back and will try to extort you to use their terrible service again. I learned my lesson by outright losing 130 dollars.

All rentalcars.com is, is a middle man. Do some home work, and you'll be able to find the same price, and most likely even cheaper as you'll be cutting out this shady middle man of a company.
I booked a car, and paid for it fully. When I got to my destination, for technical reasons, the rental car company could not give me the car. I had to rent with a different company without any problems, however, because it was on the spot, the price was much higher, so I was already out a bunch of money.
I was told by the representative at that car rental place, that it'd be best (best, not mandatory) that I call rentalcars that day to get a refund. I asked to use his phone, as I didn't have a phone at the time (travelling abroad). I was on hold for 30 mins before I gave up.

I got to my hotel, I bought some cellphone minutes and tried calling them again. To my frustration, their phone number doesn't seem to be listed anywhere on their site! What reputable company hides their phone number? Anyway, I was able to find it but again, spent 30mins on hold and used all my phone credits.

By the time I got to a location where I could use a phone freely, I was told that my best option was to wait until the return date passed, then make a claim for a return. I did that, but I ended up getting charged 25% of my fee! For what? For the pleasure of using a shady service, being stuck on the phone 3 times for half an hour, to then have to deal with poor customer service?

There are many websites that provide the same services as these guys, and I'm quite certain that they can do a better job of it.

This car rental company is outrageously irrational from their service offered to the customer. They are mistreating the customer which not only that, they deem the customer's request by refuse the customer service purchase even the bank informed us that the consumption has been acknowledged, where the transaction has been charged. Our credit card issuing bank is confused why the transaction been cancelled due to the internal security check from RentCars.com, and we could not understand the negative response coming from RentalCars with mean and brutal refusal comments to tell us never book from their website again if we like to rent car on their website. DO NOT USED THIS CAR RENTAL AGENCY, IT IS EXTREMELY LOUSY AND YOU WILL CERTAINLY BE REGRETED IF YOU HAVE EVER GIVE A TRY ON IT!

I want to tell you a story that was with Rentalcars. I was traveling in Prague and booked through the website of Rentalcars car rental with Elmo from the airport in Prague, when I arrived to pick up the car just in time for me, I noticed various Elmo car rental closed. There is no phone number or any sign that the car rental shop is active. At that moment I called Rentlecars to cancel the order and check why the Elmo car rental agency is closed. Rentalcars customer service received the call and everything is documented even sent me the call in an email complaining that the agency is closed. And sent photos of the closed agency. Everything is documented. I was told by a rentalcars company to open a case after a week to get a refund. And to this day half a year after the event I have not received any refund the amount of rent was about $ 500. In all the cases I contacted Rentalcars closed the case claiming they spoke to the Elmo Agency and the Elmo Agency said they were on the spot and the agency was open even though I keep sending the facts proving that the agency was closed. Rentalcars is an unprofessional and immoral company, its customer service is poor and it turns out to be a fraudulent company that stole money from a customer. The company did not provide an answer to all the evidence it received and simply ignored me the customer without any ability to do anything against it. It is not advisable to mess with this rogue and immoral society just thieves.
