“Deposit hasn't paid back on time”

We haven't received any payback yet. It has been 17 days that we returned the car. I have never have such problem with other companies. I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone. Their explanation was not enough and didn't satisfy. I have all rights to write about this awful experience to online comments in every car hire platform..

I made a reservation through Priceline.com for a car rental for Mexico. As soon as I arrived to Mexico to pick up the car, the personal in the airport requested me a deposit of $10,500 dollar, plus full coverage for the vehicle in top of what I paid for the reservation. That information was not part of the reservation. I did not pick up the car and rental cars.com did not reimburse my reservation. It was horrible to try to contacted them. My family and I experienced the worst in a foreign country because of the lack of information that rentalcars.com.The worst reservation and worst customer service. Not recommended!

Email response:

Dear Mr. Rodriguez,

Thanks for your email. I am really sorry to see that you are not happy with the outcome of this case but we are unable to change our decision due to the terms and conditions.

It was clearly mentioned in the terms of the rental and the package which you chose says itself that its a basic package and does not include any Collision Damage Waiver or Theft Protection.

Mandatory Coverage

Paying mandatory coverage charges
Please bring a letter from your credit card company, confirming that you have the right cover for this rental. If you can't supply this proof, the counter staff will insist that you buy the cover at the counter.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
If the car's bodywork gets damaged, the most you'll pay towards repairs covered by the Collision Damage Waiver is the damage excess. This cover is only valid if you stick to the terms of the rental agreement. It doesn't cover other parts of the car (e.g. Glass, wheels, interior, roof or undercarriage), or charges (e.g. For towing or off-road time), or anything in the car (e.g. Child seats, GPS devices or personal belongings).

Theft Protection (TP)
This rental doesn't include Theft Protection.
Unless you have another policy that provides protection, you will be responsible for the full cost of replacing or repairing the car if it is stolen, or damaged while someone is trying to steal it.

These things are also mentioned on your voucher and on rental terms. This was shown on website as well which you accepted as the booking cannot e made until you accept the terms of the rental.

We hope that you can understand why we must have a cancellation policy in place, and why on this occasion we are unable to offer you any refund.

This case is now close and we will not be able to reopen this case. Please do not reply to this message.

Thanks
Regards

Noman

Tip for consumers:

Rentalcars.com were really good in the early days, but since they've been bought by booking.com, the service has deteriorated massively.

It's easy enough to book a car online with them, it's a slick sales operation and the rates are competitive. But if anything goes wrong, or anything needs cancelling or changing, woe betide - you're screwed.

Try phoning them … ain; t going to happen. Even if you *can* find a number which is other than a message or out of service, you won't get an operator. Just a recorded message telling you how to negotiate the web site.

Personal issue here - I had to cancel a booking in person at the SixT counter in Manchester airport.

No problem, said SixT - we won't charge you, you haven't used the car but you booked it and paid up front (£750) through rentalcars.com so you will need to contact them to get your refund. We won't charge for it.

Bad luck, said rentalcars.com when (after 3 days of trying) I finally got through to someone. The app doesn't let you contact us until the rental period has finished. But you have to contact us at the time the cancellation is made. You have to wait until the expiry of the rental period. By which time it's too late, they say.

This is a really slippery operation now, seriously

Of course, as you can probably guess, rentalcars.com email you (you can't reply to the email - it's read-only) to tell you that even though the rental car company isn't going to charge for the cancelled reservation, rentalcars.com will keep your money because their weasel clauses - the small print - are very Weasley indeed! They won't repay me my £700 even though SixT (who were great, btw) didn't charge for the rental as I didn't take the car.

I've used these guys (rentalcars) for over 20 years, but since booking.com took them over and got rid of the personal touch, the phone lines, and indeed dropped any sort of customer service, I will never use them again, and I would and will advise anyone else who considers using them, to be very careful indeed, as this new iteration of a once-good company is now an unreasonable money-grabbing, mechanized outfit with zero customer service.

In circumstances like this, we - the customers - are buggered. Rentalcars.com take your money up front, and their small print is ridiculous. They email you from unmonitored email addresses to tell you they're robbing you. There are no proper customer service numbers. 20 years of being a good company (in the old days, when you could phone them directly, they were a great company - helpful, on the spot, etc …) now they're just an automated part of a hug money-making operation, and frankly they are complete $#*!e.

Hot tip. Do a deal with a rental car company direct. They still tend to be honorable folk. I'm a decent, honest reasonable man, but I can tell you this absolutely - Rentalcars.com are absolutely not honorable, slippery as eels, and I will never touch them again.

Tip for consumers:
Site is reasonable, thank you

Products used:
Used them as a middleman to get - in theory - a good car rental deal. But they are a really slippery outfit now that they’ve been bought out by booking.com. No refunds, no matter what the problem, and worse still, almost impossible to contact them. Genuinely an awful operation, almost verging on the illegal I would say from my experience.
My fault for paying them, not the rental company direct (who tend to be honorable folk) - do not touch them with a big stick, and definitely don’t pay them up front.

After looking through some rental companies, and trying to get some quotes for a weekend trip, we discovered what looked like a good price from an established rental company in Rentalcars.com

We could not have been more wrong.

One thing is for sure they do everything they can to not make it clear how much you will be paying before you pay.

When going through the process we could not see how much the total cost was with insurance, and the only way to find out was when they ended up charging us! (would you buy something without being made aware the full-cost with ANY product or service? I would never)

I kept checking with my friend on each page asking if he could see the total price and he could not, so we would continue until they surprised us with a purchase confirmation.

So - we did what any sane person would do and tried to cancel. Thus being hit with a cancellation policy that would see us lose all the money we weren't intending to pay anyway.

I figured the Customer Service team would be able to help considering the circumstances and considering that the issue took place only minutes earlier. However, when we started a live-chat - the CS rep would not listen, telling us where to find the price after we paid (which was the issue we contacted about) and kept referring us to the Cancellation Policy, rather than listen and find a solution.

When I rung up the next day, another CS rep also kept referring me to the Policy and refused to listen to the situation that occurred. They wouldn't even let me speak to a supervisor, and responded to my questions with the same script ("Due to our cancellation policy...").

Their website is broken and preys on people looking for good deals, but doesn't make aware of how much a person is paying ahead of time. Once they have your money they will blindly smash the cancellation policy over your head until you submit.

Not once in my payment history have I ever been surprised by a payment on checkout, which speaks volumes of Rentalcars terrible consumer practices.

I would never trust this company again - and will recommend all my friends and family to avoid this company at all costs.

After a quick search I can see more rental car websites with transparent pricing breakdowns (ahead of purchase). They will be getting my business in the future.

Until this experience, I have NEVER posted on a public platform and rarely review companies, but I felt compelled to do so with this rental car company, so that another traveler doesn't go through the same horrible experience with rentalcars.com as I did. My boyfriend and I planned a perfect romantic vacation in Santorini, Greece and followed SantoriniDave's recommendation of rentalcars.com (big mistake)! Firstly, they advertised our rental car as automatic (being Americans, neither of us can drive shift!) and we booked it as such, but when we arrived tired from a 10 hour journey to the AVIS counter, the attendant informed us that the reservation was actually for a manual and that this company is notorious for advertising automatic cars, but relaying the reservation information to AVIS as manual (he said it happens all the time). As you can imagine, we were scared and stressed that we wouldn't be able to get an automatic car without a prior reservation. Thankfully, Hertz had an available automatic, though it was almost triple the price we'd paid through rentalcars.com After an hour on the phone with multiple rentalcars.com agents, explaining their error over and over, we were told that we would get reimbursed for the original rental, plus the difference between what we paid for the original and what we'd end up paying for the Hertz rental. We followed their instructions to a T- cancelling the AVIS rental, submitting a receipt for the Hertz rental, and following up numerous times for weeks- AND THEY HAVE STILL NOT PROVIDED US OUR REFUND! We are both hard-working individuals who saved up for this dream vacation, in hopes that it would be a smooth time, given all of our efforts in planning. But now we are flabbergasted and stressed about how shrewd and cunning this British company is- making us jump through unnecessary hoops, preying on us, just so they don't have to pay us back money that is rightfully ours. NEVER RENT WITH THEM OR YOU WILL BE OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, STRANDED IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY, LEFT TO FEND FOR YOURSELF. If I don't get my money back soon, I'll be asking a lawyer friend of mine to step in.

RentalCars.com services carry the notion of fraudulent practices. Their website is a social engineering minefield filled with booby traps designed to create a sense of desperate fight for the "best deal" while they are literally "slipping through our fingers". PANIC! THE CLOCK IS TICKING GODDAMNIT!

RentalCars.com offer comparison page is deliberately deceiving their customers into thinking that the prices displayed on the page are the definitive cost of rental (see "1_search_engine" screenshot attached). As it turns out the customer is being surcharged for the so called "additional services" that happen to be mandatory effectively hiding the real cost of the rental and rendering the comparison page faulty and useless.

RentalCars.com options page does not indicate that any mandatory surcharge is required - the price continues to seem definitive (see "2_options_page" screenshot attached).

RentalCars.com payment details page is designed in a way to trick the customer into an expectation that the greyed out "Fuel Service Charge" is a cost of fuel subject to partial refund as indicated in the center part of the page, not a mandatory charge that he has no way to refuse (see screenshot "3_payment_page" attached).

And finally, RentalCars.com booking summary page continues to uphold an illusion of a fully paid booking by displaying the "total summary" of the booking payments without no mention of the mandatory charges, ultimately ensuring the customer that he had paid the full amount (see "4_booking_summary" screenshot attached).

"Shocklingly" - he did not. The payment on the website is just an advance fee and the real cost of your rental awaits at the desk of the factual car rental provider.

To add insult to injury, on the starting day of my failed rental I was misinformed by their customer service agent ensuring me that the charge of 25 was subject of partial refund dependent on the amount of fuel in the returned car, which turned out to be a blatant lie.

The hidden mandatory costs of the rental sandwiched somewhere in-between the 2593th and 2594th line of the terms and conditions cannot justify the mischievous trickery they openly subject the misinformed customers on their website.

I repeat, RentalCars.com is A SCAM.

My opinion about Rentalcars and America Car Rental.
Number of reservation: *******.
On an unfortunate day for me, on my trip to Mexico, I decided to use the

Services of the intermediary Rentalcars and the rental company America Car

Rental. I went for 14 days.
At first glance, everything looked good enough:
0. Car - VW Jetta.
1. Car rental price US $ 301.89 Prepayment has been made
2. Insurance under the program Full protection US $ 150.45 Prepayment has

Been made.
I decided not just to rent a car (VW Jetta), but also bought full insurance

From Rentalcars, having examined it more closely, I saw that it covers a

Large number of risks, including damage to third parties and their

Property. I envisaged everything, as I thought then.
When I arrived at Cancun airport, near the exit, I saw a man with a sign of

America Car Rental. Me and 2 more travelers were taken to America Car

Rental office. Strange things began to happen, I was shown a certain price,

Judging by which I could not rent a car without paying an additional

Insurance of $ 300 (!). The mexican said that by law they can not give me

A car if I do not buy it, so I would lose money that has already paid for

The rent - 450 dollars. When I showed the already paid insurance from

Rentalcars, he began to assert that the insurance from Rentalcars does not

Cover damage to third parties, although it was clearly indicated there.

Judging from the confused faces of people nearby, everyone somehow

Encountered this. If this is not real fraud, then what is it? The rental

Price has increased almost 2 times!
In addition, I was kept on the card 800 dollars in bail for the car, it's

Been 4 days and they have not been returned yet...

The funny thing is that there was no sense in booking the car, because VW

Jetta, who should have expected me, was not there. There was another model

With a manual transmission. In the end, after another half hour, I was

Given another car - a strongly worn white Passat.

I intend to distribute this story on the maximum amount of Internet

Resources. If these two fraudsters lose at least one client, I will feel

Relieved that the world has made a little bit better.

Gentlemens and ladies, do not use the services of these people if you do

Not want to make your vacation worse and more expensive.

I payed for a rental car model Fiat 500 or similar from the Company Blue Auto trading.
I arrived to the Miami airport at the indicated point of shuttle pick up service (outside the rental car building at Miami Airport).

Because no shuttle showed up for picking us up, I called the company and the person on the phone told me to wait 20-30 mins. After this time standing on the heat with my mother who is over 80 years old and seeing no sign of a shuttle, I called again and the same person (man) told me to wait another 30 mins.

I called afterwards another number indicated at the reservation. The same man answered to me again and said that he was the only person in the company (the only who answers the phone, pick the passengers, rent the car, makes the documentation, serve clients, etc) and that he did not have time to pick us up because he had other things to do and that I should wait until he calls me because as for that moment he did not have time to pick us up. He also said that if I had any problem / I needed to cancel I should contact rentalcars.com

I called three or more times to rentalcars.com customer service. I explained the situation. They contacted Blue and they answered that they had cancel my reservation on their side and that they did not know what happened with the car (probably this information was provided by the only same person on site who spoke to me and was lying because they did not have any car to start with).

In the last call I had with rentalcars.com, they tried to contact Blue auto trading (despite if me repeating the story of what had happened) but there was no answer from their side. I tried to rent another car through the system of rentalcars.com. However, this was not possible.
Being at the rental car building at Miami airport, and from information coming from the counters of the companies in situ, there was no car available (even when the system put me on confirmation pending) because it was too late.
I received a message from Rentalcars.com coming from s person I spoke to at the beginning and it says I did not show up (no show) to pick up the car.
Nevertheless, I was waiting for the shuttle of Blur auto trading all the time at the designated/agreed spot, outside the rental car building at the Miami airport. They didn't want to refund me and now I have to make a long process to file a new claim when this was not my fault.
This is a terrible service. Never use it!

My experience with rentalcars.com was truly disastrous, I even feel deceived since they did not honour their promise for compensation. My story: I rented a car through rentalcars.com with Budget Car Rental at Tbilisi airport. All rental counters were open when I reported at the agreed date and time, except for Budget. After waiting for a while, I called the airport office, no answer. I called the Budget city office, no answer (it was Friday morning around 09:30). I decided to call the UK number of rentalcars.com. They also checked and found out that Budget could not be reached. Rentalcars.com recommended me to hire a car directly with another rental company. When I complained that this would be much more expensive, rentalcars.com said that I would be compensated for the difference. I did mention that I felt it is their responsibility to arrange a new rental car for me. They confirmed this but said that making a new reservation and waiting for the confirmation would take much longer. Since time was not on my side, I rented a car with another rental company which was indeed roughly 100 euros more expensive. I felt fully supported by rentalcars.com promise for compensation.
Rentalcars.com's promise turned out to be completely hollow. Through my credit card I had already paid rentalcars.com for the Budget car I never got. Even though rentalcars.com knows and confirmed that Budget did not deliver my car, they do not reimburse you for this by crediting your credit card. You thus pay for something you did not get. I found out they keep the amount until they get a confirmative response from Budget. This response never came. I waited for a month and rentalcars.com keeps you on the line by repeatedly saying: still no answer from Budget. When rentalcars.com found out that I had reclaimed the rental amount for the car I never got though my credit card company all further service stopped abruptly.

The rentalcars.com logic for this is as follows: since I had claimed my rental amount back from rentalcars.com for the Budget car rental that never happened I lost all rights for compensation. Claims from me that these are two different issues were rejected. Rentalcars.com one-sidedly closed the case thereby reneging their compensation promise. Rentalcars.com goes for profits not for promises and providing service.

Najwieksze oszustwo.

Scammers...! Not recommended, they stole my money, they wanted to force me to pay an insurance that doubled the total value of the weekly rental of the car when I already had one, apart from already having 2 insurance for the same car, they asked me for a $ 7000 deposit. The cheapest option was to lose the money and go to another rental car...! Because even if I canceled it, they never gave me my money back and it was still cheaper...!
A EVITER ABSOLUMENT

Tip for consumers:
Never use it

Products used:
They let us pay more for another car rental otherwise they keep our money without giving us any car

Ahí me entendieron y me ayudaron ANULANDO (no cancelando) mi reserva.
