Deceitful behaviour
March 20, 2017

After booking, the voucher highlighted all the new extra charges I hadn't paid for and must pay for on collection - all this after agreeing with their price. On complaining they said that these extra charges (16% surcharge on the total cost because it was a Premium Location - duh, Heathrow is where I booked it and a daily Vehicle Licensing Fee) were hidden in the supplier Hertz's terms and conditions. To find these you must choose 'Important Information' and then at the page of two pages there's a further tiny print 'Terms and Conditions'. So the price you see on Rentalcars.com is NOT what you will end up paying.

This is a con - you think you're getting a discounted price, but the hidden charges make up the difference. I would rather go direct to the suppliers and not support this sort of commercial behaviour.

In total agreement with other peopl on here. Paid online, paid extra fully comp insurance, but soon as I was in office wanted £1,500 deposit and said insurance online wasn't valid.
A complete con from start to finish.
Well done Budget car rental your reputation is going to suffer massively due to these
Online criminals, will never use them or Budget ever again.

DO NOT USE
March 3, 2017

I cancelled a booking, due to unforeseen details once booking was confirmed.
Cancellation email stated that it could take up to 7 days to return booking - now at day 10 and no refund, and struggling to get in touch with them. Definitely would not recommend.

The worst experience with a car rental EVER

Booked everything on rentalcars.com, asked for "Full protection" and paid in advance. Upon arrival at La Palma airport I got the first bad surprise: they told me I could either pay a 655 deposit by credit card (refundable at the end of the journey) or pay 87 - non refoundable. As I didn't have the 655 available on my credit card I had to pay the extra. On top of that I had to pay another 100 deposit for the fuel. The day of the departure I returned the car to the parking and went to the office to return the keys and get the 100 back. They made me wait for 20 minutes before opening the office and then another 30 minutes while somebody went and checked the car - all of this just to be told that I would not get the 100 deposit back because the car was "not clean enough". The girl at the desk said that if was not happy I could go to the police. My flight was departing in less than half an hour, I had to go. I call this a FRAUD. Two Dutch tourists were more lucky as they were only stolen 50. NEVER in my life am I going to use rentalcars.com or Herz again!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
March 2, 2017

Rentalcars and Avis both scam customers and don't favour them during dispute. Rented a car in France from Avis via Rentalcars, car came with same amount of fuel as when returned but still charged for fuel and refuelling fee. To give an idea, their charges were double the amount of fuel used throughout the entire trip so yes it is a scam. Rental was cheap but I guess Avis made their profit back with these hidden charges, and Rentalcars do not have your back when you're treated so by the providers. AVOID

Had the same problem as other reviewer. They quote you one price on-line, then when you go to pick-up the car and charge it to your credit card they give you a whole other higher price adding on all kinds of stupid fees. NEVER EVER AGAIN!

These guys are crooks, they quote you one price, then charge you another price in a more expensive currency

When you ring to complain they blame bank currency charges, even though you are booking and renting in the same HOME currency

At best they will give you a discount on the next rental. Not that i would EVER use them again

And apparently if you try to claim on their insurance you are really screwed

We were traveling to Washington Dulles Airport, and we reserved an one way rental car, that we can drop in Newport News, and we specifically choose the one way option.
During the checkout we have paid the total amount.

When we arrived to DC, Enterprise agents didn't accept that reservation, saying wh have to pay much more, since it is going to be 1 way.
All the efforts to contact rentalcars. Com didn't succeed.
Now almost daily I am getting spam e-mails from them.
I have unsubscribed, but this doesn't help as well,
I put their address in the "blocked" list, but from time to time they keep changing their
Address.

Our impression is, they are just fulling people

No help when it's needed
February 18, 2017

Used Rentalcars in the past, everything was fine when they redirected me to big international companies, like Avis.

This time, they matched me with Locauto in Italy, the biggest frauds I've ever rented a car from.
When returned the car, Locauto refused to tell me how much they plan to charge me for scratches allegedly made by me. Several days after I've returned the car and already left Italy, my card was charged with 1440 euros! No explanation for this amount is provided, neither by rentalcars nor by Locauto.

Rentalcars customer service response, in a nutshell, "We're just an intermediaries, we can't do anything about Locauto"

I don't care about Locauto, they are obvious crooks, but this is a shameful attitude from Rentalcars: hang their clients out to dry and avoid responsibility for the actions of the partner companies

Watch out as the company tries only to rip you off. They have a no refund policy and will not return the money that they have charged, even if you write to them or try contacting them.

SCAMMERS
February 5, 2017

Be prepared to be charged twice. Rentalcars.com will (over)charge you the full cost of your rental for doing nothing but passing your booking request onto the hire company. You'll have to pay again at your destination (albeit, at a better price than rentalcars.com were offering) to actually collect your car. Avoid this shady, dishonest company like the plague.

Online they give you one price and when you pick up the car you to pay again almost the same price they give you for the rental car. You better off renting from the actual rental car company

Do not use this company
January 29, 2017

I cannot stress more do not use this company I went on a road trip in November 2016, I hired a top end car (mustang convertible) it was ment to be a trip of a lifetime, I paid for the vehicle hire and insurance months in advance so it was paid for and out the way, I turned up in Memphis to be told I had extra insurance to pay, I already had assurance from rental cars that I was fully covered the only fee I agreed before hand was the one way charge which was expensive of $250, but when I arrived they hiked it up to $430 with extra insurance, so I argued with the girl but I was told to except it or no car, so I tried to call rental cars to sort the problem but low and behold I couldn't get hold of them ( a voice message saying not available, sorry for inconvenience) so I had no choice but to except the extra fee or We would have been stranded, no car and holiday completely ruined. After the holiday I called rental cars and they said I should not of excepted so the extra is my responsibility even though I was unable to get hold of them on the emergency number they provided. Go to a repertable hire car company direct with excellent customer feedback but do not use rental cars or the company's they supply,

At Miami Airport I was quoted $13 per day for my wife to be added as a driver by all rental companies. This is a scam. In Florida a Spouse is automatically covered under state law. I found out too late and Rentalcar didnt tell me. Who controls these firms?

Awful experience. Rented cars in Europe twice through Rentalcars.com. Both times surprise charges were made to my credit card after the return. The first time the charges were refunded as per Rentalcars.com "The fees in question are for minor local fees which should have been included in your prepaid voucher." The second time I am not being refunded as they are claiming I am responsible for tickets, tolls and fines, none if which I incurred. Clearly systemic problem that is an absolute hassle to deal with not to mention the extra expenses for no explainable reason.

We booked a car from Europcar through Rentalcars in September. First of all, Rentalcars website quoted us in AUD and charged our card in another currency which costed us almost $50 intl. Transaction fee (that's misrepresentation of the currency). Second, the quote was presented as discounted price which will only be applicable if the car's prepaid (this was not true, as we later on realized that they have charged us $200 more than the actual price through Europcar). Trusting that this is the cheapest we can get, we went ahead and prepaid for th e car. Rentalcars immediately charged our credit card on the same day. Then, 3 months later, when we went on holidays and wanted to pick up the car, we were told by Europcar that they haven't received the money from Rentalcars yet! Three months later! We immediately informed Rentalcars and were in contact with Europcar the whole time during our holidays which caused a lot of stress for us. Then, after 2 weeks of holidays, when we returned the car, Europcar still hadn't received the money and therefore they charged us for the same booking again! Now we are in a situation that we have been double-charged (with double intl. Transaction fees) and no one from Rentalcars is responsive for the mistake they've made. They are a total fraud. The maximum that customer service has done is that they've told us they will look into the case in the next 14-28 days! They already have the invoice and receipt from Europcar, which means they know that we've been double-charged and yet they need 28 days to review! Who knows when they will refund us.

Bottom line: The worst company ever... don't trust the information they present and don't trust using them at all!

With my husband, we used Rentalcars.com to rent a car in Brazil, Florianopolis. We organised the booking through rentalcars.com with the actual rental company on sight being Innova.
We booked the car for a few days starting immediately on arrival in the Florianopolis airport late in the evening and we took it for granted that the representative of the service will wait for our flight to arrive as they specifically highlight that we have to provide them with the flight number. Otherwise they are not going to wait for us. Our flight was delayed and when we arrived, there wasn't anyone waiting for us. Nor there was any signs that they had been waiting.
We took a taxi and had to come back the next day just to hear that we were no-shows and if we want to get a refund, we have to contact the rentalcars.com, which we did. They kindly told us in an email that we should contact them again after the actual rental is over and we have the signed contract with the rental company, which we did. There was no reply for a week. When the reply came, it was a joke. Basically, they told us that we read the Terms and Conditions and according to them, it's our personal problem that we came a day late to pick up the car.
Really? C'mon, guys, how is it our problem that your partner company's representatives did not wait for our flight to arrive?
Very-very unprofessional. Not the type of service you would like to experience.
Definitely will never use again either rentalcars.com or their partners and will talk out my friends or acquaintances out of doing it.
