I placed three separate orders here, two for hard to get Ecuadorian hermit crabs, and one for a three-striped mud turtle. Each time, the hermit crabs ran out of their container (insulated, humid, and with damp moss) an had natural shells. The turtle was groggy, but woke up and was swimming happily within 20 minutes. Thank you! Will buy again when I have more space!
Do not order from this company. They will take your money the very next day but won't return your emails. After 4 attempts to contact them via email were unsuccessful I tried to call them. Every single number was disconnected!
Never received my order or refund even though they promised to refund my money. File complaints with Texas AG and FTC. Everyone who experience the same issues need to do so. Filing complaints with the BBB does nothing because Felton ignores them.

They offered a two for one on House Geckos. I ordered five. When they arrived I put the bag in a cage, and opened it to water and feed them before I set them free. Only five were in the bag. I called and they said I was lying. Yes I get rich cheating reptile stores.
I would not recommend them, I have used Backwater Reptiles in the past and they always support the guaranty. I thought I could get 10 for the price of five but I got 5 for the price of 5
They gave me a date that my turtles would ship, and then shipped them 2 days later. Then, instead of shipping them express mail as they promissed, shipped them Priority US Mail, charging me $24.95 and only paying $6.95 for shipping. When I finally got the box, it was unmarked, the only padding was newspaper and the turtles were in a round clear plastic deli container with holes poked in it and a damp kleenex for moisture. The turtles were still alive but appeared dazed and dehydrated. It was 80 degrees that day. I waited all day long for them to arrive because I was worried they would be left in the heat. The mail carrier apparently "forgot" they were in her van and had to come back in her own vehicle after 5 and drop them off. I was having a nervous breakdown that they were going to die because of the heat. When I saw the packaging I was livid. More people need to know about this so that this company stops this cruelty to animals.
They refused to ship anything and when I ask they say they'll ship the next day and i wait a few more days and ask and they say they're ship tomorrow! And they keep giving the run around over and over. This is ridiculous They are so bad!
I just ordered a club tail iguana from them and it arrived in terrible condition. It had fungus all over and a wonded are that is twice the size of the other. There is a gigantic scab in a cut and it's bleeding. I'm doing my best to nurse him back to health. Poor guy, I feel so bad for all the other animals that live there. My point is never buy from them and I feel someone should sew rhem.
This guy is a crook. I ordered a five lined skink it died within the 10 days or so live guarantee or money back. I took him to the vet b4 he died and the vet said he was infested with protozoan parasites and that my lizard had a high mortality rate even with treatment. I called Felton and he said somewhere along the lines tough noogie. He wanted me to send vet records for proof. I asked to have another lizard and he was out of stock, so I ask can you send me another species and I could pay the difference. So I picked a Western fence lizard than paid expedited shipping. I waited a week and no lizard. I called to ask about my order and he still hasn't processed it yet. I ask asked when and he said when he was damn good and ready. So I asked for a refund and he said gladly and hung up.

I ordered 2 Clown Tree Frogs, a Green Tree Frog and 2 Eastern Newts. The first order had my address wrong. I contacted customer service because I never received it. Both customer service and myself tried to track down the order. I finally found the order at our local USPS Annex. By the time I received it, the animals were dead. We had very cold weather and the heat pack ran out. I called customer service back and told them what happened. I received an apology and my order was reshipped at no cost to me, FEDEX Overnight and my critters arrived warm and healthy. The only thing I would say needs improving is that "Live Animals" was written on the package. The postal service worker said they would have treated the package differently while at their facility.

Haven't received my package because I chose 30 economy express, and it has only been 10 days. I know how to read unlike half the people freaking out. Ordered a $30 snapping turtle on the 10th. Order status is pending, card was charged. No issues yet. Honestly if the turtle arrives dead I probably wouldn't be too butthurt anyway. It's just 30 bucks. I'll just buy one somewhere else. Boohoo. If you want something expensive buy it in person. You wouldn't order an automobile online would you? I will edit this review accordingly once I receive my product.
My baby Reeves turtles arrived in perfect condition, and started noshing right away. They're so cute and their funny antics are a joy to watch... they never fail to make me smile! They were delivered to my doorstep within days of placing the order. I will say that Spring temp's in 60's-70's are way less risky than summer or winter purchases for herps, and BOGO is the way to go. Am happy with Reptile City's service and would surely order from them again!
Ordered an African sulcata tortois after reading many posts about never order on line. Totally satisfied with purchase and shipping. Animal arrived active and hungry. Heat pack in box was still warm overnight from Florida to NY. Animal was active in its shipping container. It ate a little upon transferring to temporary container. Took a 15 minute soak and slept the rest of the day and night. Got up this morning and ate like a pig. Made a nice healthy poop and has been actively exploring. Couldn't be happier with my experience. Thanks.

We received our 2 turtles they were in excellent condition. Very healthy and friendly reptile city is the best place to buy a pet.the only place I will buy from in the furture.we had ordered from a different place before finding reptile city and our turtle died in 2 days. Glad we found reptile city and thank you for the great service.
This company falsely advertises animals, ships wrong items, does not atemp to sex animals as advertised, and does not honor shipping policy. I filed a complaint and was told I would receive a partial refund which they also did not honor. They need to be shut down.
I got 4 cane toads from them for an educational "invasive species" series. Theyou arrived no problem, only 1 looked even remotely healthy. 3 are underweight, and 1 died within hrs of recieving them. It costs more to try and replace the dead/ill animals in spite of it being their mistake, so I am going to work with what I have, do the best to bring the other2 back and hope the healthy 1 can handle everything.
I chose the 30 day free shipping offer. No problem. I waited. I emailed them after 30 business days to ask if it was going to ship. I was told something along the lines of, "we are a few days behind due to Covid-19 but your order is with the shipping department, so it should be soon." No problem. I then waited another week. No updates. No emails. I emailed them. No response. Waited til the next day. No response still. Send several more. No response. I get that some people expect to be treated like royalty by everyone providing them a service, but I just wanted a snake and reasonable updates. Can't believe they couldn't do that. Guess I'll have to get the bank involved...
I posted earlier anout it being a scam. After the email bout getting the FBI, DEA and myself to call him i expresed more concerns, at which he replied that he would love to hear it from my voice. I disregarded because of me being at work and dont have time for his bull crap. He ended up sending me an email says "you fill better" so this guy has horrible customer service and is a smart ellic. I have the emails to prove it.
I would give Reptile City less than one star if I could. I ordered 5 desert hairy scorpions for a research project. Several weeks went by and they didn't arrive. I called and was told they were a special order and would arrive any day. A week later I called again and was told the order was coming from out of the country and the package was in customs, but would arrive any day. A month later, the package has not arrived. I'm sure the animals are dead anyway. I've called and emailed several times asking for my money back ($175!) and have gotten no response. I reported the company to the BBB. I am not holding my breath for a response or my money back, but I paid $175 and got nothing in return. The package never even arrived and the customer service was not just terrible, it was nonexistent.
I ordered two Fire Belly Newts from this company for my daughter. I emailed customer service before the newts arrived asking about their diet, never got a response, first red flag. When the newts arrived both were very thin and had ulcers on their skin. I have been attempting to nurse them back to health since I received them because I know the trip back will kill them. One had started to eat and I am hopeful he will survive. The other is in terrible condition and will likely pass soon. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! It's obvious these animals were kept in poor living conditions and treated badly, animals are living things! I will never recommended buying from this website, never ever.
My daughter ordered her first turtle on July 3rd and paid $44.94 expecting to get the turtle. She called on Friday to see if it had been shipped and according to Nina it was and according to Willis it wasnt. So do to the lack of communication she cancelled the turtle and requested a refund. We still have not received a refund at all and have called about it several times. Willis says the turtle was delivered however we have not received it. This seems to be his story looking at other reviews. I am now having to dispute this with the credit card company and possibly get an attorney involved. I am not sure where this poor turtle is but I have a strange feeling it was never sent and if it was it was sent to the wrong address. I just want the refund but Im having to play games. Dont waste your time with them.

Ordered reptiles and was supposed to take 5 days after a few weeks of waiting I cancelled. Was told I'd get a full refund over 8x by phone and several emails. Was told theyd do it that week or that night and it's been over 3 months of waiting for my refund. There liars and thieves if ya ask me, they shouldmt be aloud to opperate.
I paid $30 for overnight mail they used priority mail which takes 3 days and costs them $7. Shipping isa rip off and their putting aninmals in danger cuz 3 day shipping is too slow its not overnight shipping
I ordered a tomato frog 10-28-20 waited past the 30 days for free shipping-- emailed no response, emailed 3 days later no response, emailed 3 more days later, got response "will refund money" waited week, no money, emailed again, no response, emailed again no response, 1 more email then I get again "will refund money" it is end of Jan 2021 still no refund...
Other places respond right away and have been amazing, and have had frogs for months now. Bummed to lose out on money when my son worked so hard to earn and order this tomato frog to never get it. Will never order from here again. Thank you

I ordered 2 common snapping turtles from Felton at Reptile city, had them overnighted by UPS and recieved them on time, healthy and in great packaging with heat packs. I've read several bad reviews but on 2 separate orders ive had nothing but good experiences and will use and suggest using Reptile City again. I've even spoke to Felton on the phone and he seems like a cool guy. Thanks Reptile City!
I would be less upset if I only got my return that I deserve, I didn't get the mata mata as I ordered, I waited a month and two weeks, I was supposed to receive the mata two weeks ago that that time so I called into canceling and getting my refund. I waited an other month to then start calling no answers, rude never clear about my return always got we will have to call you back after lunch. If your on lunch then why pick up the phone!? I order the mata mata when reptile city sent me a email they are fully stocked again this was 11/21/20 around midnight, I Submitted my order 11/22/20. "I say I'm a loyal customer" for them to not care about my order said a lot about how they don't care about there customers. The man over the phone actually said he just sold out of mata matas in late January, I have proof of my email, proof of reptile city Advertising stock in mata matas, my email asking of refund and I still have not received my refund and it's now February 23,2021

The other side of the story –
Every item(s) that is packed and processed is filmed before being placed in box. These quality control procedures have been in place for over five years now. This insures the warehouse staff that upper management will have record of what, how and the time an order was completed. After reviewing the film the 10 house geckos were packed in a deli cup at 10:43am 04/11/16 and placed on the packing table along with the paperwork. I remember telling my staff that there were too many animals in the one deli and switching all 10 from the cup into a small bag. The bag was then placed in the box and shipped to the customer. He claims there were only 5 in the bag which I find hard to believe. Prior to the order being shipped he sent an email about being a customer of Backwater Reptiles etc. etc. Reading between the lines it was easy to determine we were being setup and/or there would be a problem with Anthony D’Attomo regardless. Shortly after a brief phone conversation on 04/13/16 without giving us a chance to rectify the issue he post this review. What he fails to post is that he received another shipment of 10 more House Geckos which I again packed myself 3 days later 04/16/16. At the end of the day – The world we live in today is filled with people that are just spiteful and use sites such as this one too vent only one side of story. – Thanks, Felton Willis
