The Reserve America website is a nightmare to navigate... but it doesn't come close to their mobile version. Beyond horrible! Got to the checkout cart several times and the whole thing magically disappeared! Never could get a reservation made. The fee for reserving online is not worth the hassle! Unfortunately one is totally stuck with their failing system if it is a weekend! Even tried to make a reservation at the campsite but the person at the kiosk couldn't do it... said I had to do it online! Find a park that doesn't use this system!
Made reservations for camping in Colorado state parks and was told up front if I needed to cancel I would only be charged the $10 transaction fee. This was a complete lie. Found out a few days later (72 hours before arrival) that there was also a one day cancellation charge. So for a $25 per day campsite I paid $60 including the transaction fee and was only refunded $25.
I Called the folks at the state park and talked to the ranger and he said he has heard many complaints from other customers ever since they started contracting the reservation process with Reserve America. He advised me to file a formal complaint with the parks department. Apparently if enough of us complain perhaps they will find another contractor to handle this service.
If at all possible avoide doing business with this company.
Tough to book and were forced to sign up for a "free" 30 day trialActvie Advantage to make the reservation. We had vehicle trouble and cancelled within 12 hours and lost all of our money to their "fees". You only have to fool me once. And when I went to cancel this "free" account with Active Advantage -- I can only do that by phone. Complete black money hole -- all because the states can no longer afford to run their own parks -- too many budget cuts. This leaves a bad taste in our memory for Kentucky where we were going to go camping.
There were 3 of us attempting to book the same dates and the same camp site due to past unsuccessful results. All 3 of our computers froze and we each did not get any sites available to book. The site does not always give you the opportunity to create a notification to be on a wait list as it says it does. Not a user friendly web site. Don't attempt to call them either. We spent 1 hour on the web and phone with negative results. Bottom line is its a luck of the draw. I need to sell my RV or find other Non Reserve America camp sites. Reserve America needs to take pride in their web site and make some positive changes.
Like the title says. If you acknowledge that you changed your plans, they will slap you with a pure-profit $9 fee. Blame it on a website technical error and change ASAP and they may waive the fee.
I can understand the $9 fee to make the reservation -- though it should really be more like $3-5 -- as they have to cover the costs of managing the entire reservation experience. But $9 to change a reservation, even months in advance? Pure gouging. Unfortunately ReserveAmerica appears to be the reservation transaction vendor of choice for most public parks in the US. Can't believe our parks departments are contracting with this lowlife company.
This is a rip off! Try to book on line, password does not work, click forgot password and they email another which also does not work. Call up and make the res and they promise to email a confirmation then do not. Made reservation for $$33.70 cancelled 3 weeks before date. They deduct $14.70 "handling" and you get only $19.00 back.
I made a reservation for Chain O Lakes State Park on Reserve America and only after looking at my printed confirmation realized it was Chain O Lakes State Park in Illinois instead of Indiana. The website does not say anywhere on the reservation page what state you are in. I tried to call and cancel my reservation for a very frustrating hour, where I could not speak to anyone in the correct office. I finally figured out to cancel it online, which left me with a $5 cancellation fee. I eventually spoke with staff from the Illinois office after leaving a contact request and she was very unsympathetic and basically told me, "Too bad, we're not giving your $5 back and next time type in the state before the park." Yes, it's only $5 but that is an amount I paid for NOTHING except to speak with a rude and uncaring Reserve America employee!
Very poor experience with Reserve America. Imagine my enjoyment when the site I reserved which was Electric and could fit my 35 foot travel trailer was actually a NON-Electric site which had a max trailer length of 25 feet. Reserve America failed miserably! Even the staff at the campground said they are having all sorts of problems with Reserve America causing the same kinds of mistakes. They should refund me every penny! I give them an F, as in FAILURE!
Answer: No site says 7$ but it's actually whatever they want to charge mine was 15$. And when you ask about it they just hang up on you.
