RottenTomatoes has a rating of 2.5 stars from 42 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. RottenTomatoes ranks 57th among Movie sites.
I`m an international student and at first it was a bit hard for me to do some tasks. This site in particular helped me understand some movies (or just copy a review for the task, who am I tricking.). Anyway its pretty useful
I signed up with my internet name and it used my real name! I could not change it and tried to delete my account, but found that you have to call an 800 number, wait a long time, and then call again, and again, and again. I can't think of another website that I have encountered since maybe 1998 that made me call to cancel my account. As far as the ratings go, it is widely known that the professional reviewers are mostly male and that they suppress reviews on a whim. Not recommended or reliable.

In order to find some time for general relaxation or perhaps additional learning, I accepted the offer to watch films at my own request. And? The result is neutral. Each subsequent film had no final result. It was not interesting.
This website is bought and paid for by Disney. Ghostbusters 2016? Captain Marvel? The Last Jedi? These movies are actually rated far worse than RT would have you believe, but the website actively engages in manipulating and covering up reviews to get the best rating possible. As a result, Rotten Tomatoes is just an advertisement masquerading as a review site.

Rotten Tomatoes might be fun for rating and reviewing movies and TV shows, but only the critics' opinions are actually listened to and not ignored. If you really want your opinion to matter, go to a different review site. It's an okay website.
Tip for consumers:
Go to IMDb or Metacritc if you're not happy with this instead.
I'll be short, I just wanted to say that I hate rotten tomatoes (horror) movie review site which is composed by allegedly horror movie expert veterans, who for the most part have absolutely not a clue what good horror movie looks like, or a bad one for that matter. They have absolutely no credibility, zero zilch, nada when it comes to horror movie opinions. I can't even consider seriously anything they say. And so in the world of horror movies, they shouldn't even have a say. Nobody should listen to them, they are pure trash to avoid like the plague. Apart from a tiny few exceptions of reviewers whom I agree with, each time I read their review previews makes me want to punch the wall and grab my machete and go for a walk around Camp Crystal Lake searching for new blood... Ironically, they don't know it yet, but the rotten tomatoes are all waiting for them.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid this site and its so-called expert reviewers like the plague, maybe you too will find some horror movie gems, that you will be proud of and won't fall for the senseless hype these guys are putting out... Rotten Tomatoes when it comes to horror is pure BS.
Great site to read about movies before spending money going to see one or renting one.
However, I suggest reading many reviews, both from the community and from the well known reviewers since there will always be people who both like and dislike a movie. Multiple times I have seen a movie that had great reviews but thought it was awful and vice versa.
Good luck and hope you find a good one!
Just think about it... Who nowadays can trust ratings of a web site like this? People love different movies. In a past few years everyone just stopped looking for reviews or ratings because it has no point anymore. You like something - you watch it. It's all simple.
I'm a bit of a movie snob, and time is scarce for me these days. That's why I always check out rottentomatoes before I commit 2 hours of my brain cycles to watching a movie. Typically I find the reviews to be right on - I now rarely watch movies rated under 75%. However, I do find the critics tend to give not so good artsy films higher ratings than they deserve. That can be double checked with the fan ratings. Its usually suspect when there is a huge discrepancy.
Overall, this site is very well designed and gives access to the info that I'm looking for very quickly.
Rotten Tomatoes "audience score" is now manipulated and artificially boosted to make bad movies look good. Unfortunately the never ending need for corporate profits killed what was once a useful resouce. Now all we have is IMDB and other other less slick options.
It doesnt allow to make up your own mind. Too much of a influence without sense of direction. My daughter has no remorse in changing points of view of what was thought to her because defending something she only has learned through this site. BAb Bad
Rottentomatoes is a great place to get movie reviews. I like how it takes in account both critics and real movie goers. I don't think I have ever not liked a movie that was well reviewed on rottentomatoes.
Unless you click further, which few actually do, they do not show you the complete ratings. They only show you ratings of those who bought movie tickets in a certain fashion. In addition, it is thought that they artificially change ratings by removing ratings.
The expert reviews are very biased here compared to other sites like IMBD. It is quite often to see a movie get nearly full marks as an expert, but a rotten score from the users, and vice versa. This is almost always political, such as if it is a feminist movie (see reviews for Taking Down the House, versus Chapelle's Sticks and Stones).
The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are frequently purged of negative reviews and favorable critic reviews are promoted. This is likely done because there is a motivation to avoid negative reviews due to financial considerations. In short, if they let you see that a movie has a ton of bad reviews, you are less likely to go see it and the movie doesn't make much money. There is little doubt that movie houses and studios pay RT to prop up inferior products for the sole pursuit of making money.
Rottentomatoes has long since lost it's way, it used to be a group of true critics that actually cared for thier fellow fans, no more, now sliding any money thier way will make it keel over to try and help whatever company, and does anyone else find it odd that everytime they love a movie the general fandom hates it, and everytime they hate a movie, the general fandom loves said movie? I think it's time for a career change rotten tomatoes as your failing at doing anything correct anymore, what happened to your self edecate? Did you at least let the fans have thier opinion? Nope because now your deleting reviews from 'nonprofessional' critics who happen to be better at doing your job then you will ever be.
I use to think that this was a good site till it ruined an unbelievable movie that I would have rated atleast a b+ and this site gave it like 20%... Over the years I have leaned not to trust this site as the "Critics" apparently do not know what they are talking about. I have learned over time to look at the Google Reviews of the movie as it is real people that have watched the movie or show and either liked it or thought it was terrible.
Dont trust this site for your movies.
Rotten tomatoes has constantly downgraded movies that are actually pretty good. I think it's their political views, they don't go by the average viewers thoughts about if they actually liked a movie
Nobody but nobody ever reads Rotten Tomatoes to find a good movie. Uplifting for the perversion and diminishing for entertainment is their group philosophy...
Ridley Scott must get a volume discount for hiring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The hiring of these two, trivializes the work. It is elementary, that the problem with well-known actors is that they cannot escape their established personas. Use of new or unfamiliar faces would have made the stilted, forced attempts to create accents more believable. Game of Thrones is a perfect example. When it appeals least is when a popular, well-known personality is given a role, i.e.Ed Sheehan. Following his masterpiece, Gladiator, the bar that he himself created is high and will forever challenge and haunt him—like many great artist who attempt to repeat past successes. The opening battle scenes—the thunderous sound of horses galloping, snow lightly falling, screams of the dying and the attackers, gray forest backdrop—all replays of Gladiator direction. Box office success is never guaranteed with historic films, even when produced by a master—especially in today's 5-minute-internet attention span. Ridley is the master of this genre, but the main characters in a foreign-based historic film, should, at the very least, have an accent (French, British, whatever) that does not remind one of an American high school Shakespeare production that went on way too long. However, Ridley remains the master.
Try to leave a review for the Leftist Agenda Political "FILM" Immigration Nation - I dare you. It's a bunch of propaganda for the Democrats who want to destroy our entire country! I live in Texas and I can ASSURE YOU, that immigration is RUINING our cities, neighborhoods, and states with VIOLENT CRIMES - AGAINST CHILDREN! F YOU, Libs and F YOU Rotten Tomatoes!
Funny how some sites claim that Rotten Tomatoes is an unknown and unpopular website. They're pretty established with a huge database of movie reviews.
Negative reviews of movies are frequently removed - despite their accuracy and depth, as this site is owned by the movie industry. For example, I wrote a few paragraphs about how I had a disdain for She-Hulk, pointing out its lack of humor and the countless continuity errors the show made. Couldn't find it as a regular user when I went out of my way to search for it.
That's why you never see reviews with more than 3 sentences on the site, because actual in-depth reviews that make the movie industry look bad in any way - with evidence behind their claims, as little as the violations cannot be allowed. Just the biggest haters, who you can label as salty biased fanboys of rival properties (why it's not purged) and the biggest fans are what you see of reviews.
Never do you see a review in the middle, there is always a big divide. "Babylon" (2022) has most of its reviews with the score in the middle, but the actual score summaries either paint it as the worst thing to ever hit theaters or an artistic masterpiece that only an absolute creative visionary could make. The same thing happened with "The Whale" and "The Apology" - the site is an absolute joke, even when most reviews are in the middle it somehow finds a way to showcase only the supposed catastrophes of a film or the grand victories in every review, with the tone seemingly switching to see as if everybody was watching a different movie.
Tip for consumers:
Just pick a few critics you trust on movies instead of using this site to inform yourself about the latest pieces of cinema, it's utterly useless.
Products used:
I used the site's review functionality and nothing else.
What I've notice when Rotten Tomatoes do reviews, they don't mention black women leads. Very biased.
I cant login since months and the support does not help.
$#*! site, I will never use it anymore!
Tip for consumers:
Forget this site.
