A few weeks ago I had an at home pickup from Salvation Army. Everything about the experience was great. Someone contacted me to notify me approximately when their representatives would arrive at my house. Their timing was perfect. Specifically I want to mention that Orlando and Tommy were great representatives of the SA. They both were friendly, helpful and professional. After arrival they wasted no time loading the multiple furniture items I was donating. They were personable, which made my experience enjoyable. Kuddos to Tommy and Orlando for a great job assisting me. I would not hesitate to donate to SA again. My only disappointment was that they could not accept my piano as a donation. 🙁 Thank you to Orlando and Tommy and The Salvation Army.
This lady claims she got dog bit by the dogs I had in my car when I was going through the line to get food but them dogs has never bit nobody and never will she didn't holler she didn't say anything I had a witness with me to prove that she never got bit if you get a dog bite you going to say something right there and then but I find out two weeks later they are full of crap and I don't like liars you're not going to wait 2 weeks to say something the person that was with me said they would testify against her for lying she's just trying to get money out of somebody that she's not going to get no money out of cuz that's not going to happen if she did got dog bite then she got it from somebody else's dogs all the churches and communities that I go to said they did not believe that she ever got dog bite by these babies here they'll bark at you but that's all they do if I could give them a zero at the Shorewood
I hope you never actually come knocking on my door looking for a bloody donation
I asked for help numerous times and got told im sorry we cant help you
Funny that you have no hassle accepting the $250,000
My late father donated to you in his will and we got nothing but a brass razoo
Scum bags
The prices at the Salvation Army have gotten outrageous especially because a lot of their clothing are in poor conditions. Also, the staff is always so mean and nasty!
Don't use my email address to bombard me with you mess! As far a my review. You won't post it. So next time I receive expired food I will notify OSHA myself
What a bunch of incompetent individuals working at the Salvation Army. The director sense of remorse for the safety of others is disgusting. They expect you to have a spine and take assaults, threats, and endangerment to your own life. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
I scheduled gently used furniture pickup in order to make way for new furniture coming in. The pickup was scheduled a day before the new furniture arrived. The pickup crew came and started to look at each of the furniture pieces under a microscope - a few spots here and there are to be expected on used furniture but it was unacceptable to them. There were many pieces I was donating (several leather sofas and chairs - all in great condition and expensive) but unacceptable to them. They took pictures, send to the office, called the supervisor who rattled off a bunch of canned lines (we do not accept any furniture with any spots, we don't climb stairs that are spiral and more than 13 steps, etc. etc.). The pickup crew was extremely rude and as I was trying to understand their rationale of declining the pickup and what sort of predicament this was putting me in, they kept on saying "Like I told you..."
This was such a disappointing experience, that I asked them to leave my home. I had the option to sell these items, but I chose to donate thinking it would help someone in need but not only did Salvation Army cause me angst and disappointment, they also denied someone needy and less fortunate an opportunity to use my furniture.
Never again will I call these guys and they are never getting a penny from me ever again - truly terrible experience!
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT EVER USE SALVATION ARMY - THEY ARE THUGS!
Will never shop or donate to that he'll whole ever. Smells like crap. Plus they get stuff for free and charge almost new price. The people who work there are so rude and smell. Like take a bath geez

As we all know Sally begs on a roadside for thier Christmas donation but get they dare to instruct anyone staying there to not beg in a roadside; like they do. A complete absurdity.
Poor poor service I scheduled a pick up two months in advance disassembled and very expensive in good condition bedroom set very nice left it outside they showed up never even left me a note or called me and I had to make multiple phone calls to see where the driver was and I was told they could not pick it up because it had some scratches on it unbelievable I had no idea and then talking around to friends I was told salvation army is horrible to deal with I will never donate one item of clothing to this horrible horrible company
I have been waiting for three months for a pickup and a few days before the appointment they call to say that they will no longer take books. So they will get nothing.
A supervisor at a Salvation Army Thrift store told a new employee who was in training about a confidential matter involving the former manager of the store who had sex in the store with another employee.
The supervisor went into detail then told new employee not to repeat what she said. THIS coupled with her derogatory remarks against seniors and poor working conditions made the new employee uncomfortable enough to resign from her new position.
The workers are underpaid, over worked and generally not respected. They are not allowed to sit even for a minute while doing the production work in back and even required to stand during meetings with the manager. (while she sits) Also, it's estimated that 95% of workers are women in desperate need of income.
There is one small, poorly ventilated bathroom in back for employees which serves the public, too. It is not cleaned properly, if at all. The supervisor once went in and sprayed perfume to cover the odor.
Gossip is promoted and endorsed by the current manager. At one 30minute 'stand up' meeting, the store manager spent half of that time talking about a former employee's mental health issues.
Salvation Army Thrift Stores need a complete overhaul of rules and regulations, managers, and workplace conditions.
Hopefully, this helps employees and customers understand that the conditions are bad and should not be tolerated. Sadly, it seems a perfect environment for workplace violence to erupt.
Thrift stores are overpriced. Not much stuff in there. Thrift stores are for profit. They started reselling things online leaving just crap in the store.
I donated a car and because I don't want to give my social security number over the phone I loose $200.00. They don't explain that when they take the car!

If your donating money to the Salvation Army you may as well take your spare $ and help a complete stranger that's in need, my Recommendation is find someone that is middle aged that's homeless and in the right state of mind, ask him/ her their name very short conversation then if you feel like they would most likely do good with the $$$ write them a check and leave, your done, a middle-age person will most likely benefit the best and do what they are supposed to do such as buy a vehicle license and insured maybe rent a home, doing this changes lives! One at a time! When you give to the Salvation Army they keep 99.*******% To run the facilities and pay The understaffed people they have working, Please do not give your money to such institutions! Rip off con artist at work! If your a giver then start giving Directly to the people in need not the company that keeps 99.9%, when you shop at the thrift stores your buying what people drop off or don't any want, bottom line here is give directly then you know your money went to a good cause and you know it was well spent! GIVE DIRECTLY TO THE SOURCE

I like the Salvation Army in my area but this week I was very disappointed with the situation I got into. I bought a jacket and the zipper was broken in two places, when I got home I wasn't able to close the zipper, I want back, they said the sale is final, I ask if I can get a store credit and that was a "no".
First of all why do they not accept returns?
Goodwill gives you 10 days ( if I'm not mistaking) to return since they realize the item might be broken and the person didn't notice or any other reason.
Came in for the second time in two days to speak with the manager, I get the manager, she says I'm not the manager, " the boss " who she calls her manager in "not in", why then when I asked for the manager they send you, I didn't ask for a worker, and she can't help me since she might get fired, sounds like a lie to me, if your manager is not in and he left you in charge you are the manager for that time, but instead she's being rude, tell me the jacket work and tells me not to come in asking for a return or store credit.
Very disappointed in "The Salvation Army " management team.
I arranged a pick up for donation, first off available dates are a month out. When you schedule it, they gave absolutely no window to know when they are coming. I marked that I would like a call before they arrive.
The men that came were nice but the company sent them in the smallest truck meanwhile I had over 10 bags, a couch, a refrigerator and toys for pick up. The employees tell me that they cannot accept toys. When I mentioned that the form allowed it they said that the form will allow you to pick anything but that they send the workers to deliver the bad news. They also couldn't take the fridge and said they only take dorm fridges. Also they do not take press wood because if it breaks after someone else purchases it that its no good for them. The workers had to inspect everything and if it was not in new condition they would not take it. They said that they have to be stringent because salvation army will take it out of their paychecks and write them up for taking anything that won't sell. They took a small fraction of donation because not everything was in new condition and second because their truck was small and they had 5 other pick ups to do. The workers told me to schedule another pick up but I was moving out that day. Just overall poor assistance and awful as I did have many things to give. Luckily a local church took the kids items that salvation army would not take. I would not recommend donating to them, you'll likely be left with nearly the same amount of things you started with. Also the workers did not call when they arrived.
I was a former ast. Manager at the new Tarboro store, I was fired recently because a white racist woman wanted my position. So she lied on me, discredited my name and without a proper investigation I was terminated and this woman that had had only worked for less than a month was given my position. Captain Wayne Meads used me all the way up to the store opening, driving unsafe trucks, pawning salvation army medal, as well as making personal jobs for me beyond salvation army protocol such buying prescription meds and cleaning up in the sanctuary after their unbehaved children. This guy(Capt Wayne Meads) has fired or ran off almost every male employee he has probably because of his lack of manliness, I don't know. Don't get me wrong I have worked for the salvation army in many states also they saved my life at the ARC. Also the manager at Tarboro also owns the (wagon wheel bar) and from her own their has never been a black person in her bar(I wonder why) In conclusion I only want justice. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life and paid for them all, I only want to expose the racism and prejudice with the head of Rocky Mount headquarters governed by the Meads I also am owed payment for my sick days before my unjustly firing, also to expose the lying racist MANAGER of the tarboro store. I just want my name to be cleared and these people be exposed for the devil's they are. I will continue to post and send documents to all the cores and command post all over the country to expose these racist liars the have no place representing the salvation army at all. Sincerely and factual Mr.Gregory Louis Ross Jr.
Sterling Heights Salvation Army. Wow! I got a shocker this morning when I walked into my local Salvation Army! If the door is open that usually means the business is open correct? OH NO! I started to look around and this women came charging at me and said, "YOU CAN"T BE IN HERE WE ARE CLOSED". I looked at her and said, "The door is open", and she said, "THAT DOOR IS FOR OUR EMPLOYEES", I said, OH!. She was very loud and startled me and the other couple as well. How am I supposed to know that you are closed? She accused me of coming in the back door even though she saw the couple come in the front door after me. VERY SCARY EMPLOYEE! I was just coming in to the Salvation Army to mind my own business and bother no one. Where was this woman's diplomacy? And that is not all... A while back in 2021 I walked in my same Salvation Army and a man working behind the desk had screamed at me! He said, "PUT YOUR MASK ON OR YOU CAN"T BE IN HERE", and YES, that was embarrassing! I walked out startled as well.
I was abused by the Salvation army. I grew up in the SA from birth. Once homeless they could not have been more abusive.

Love them because they keep the money in the same county that they collect it in. Loved ringing their bell.
Never again, finally got the nerve to call and ask for some help with Xmas
Rudest 2 phone calls I ever had. Hung up in tears. Don't bother.
Anyone who called the new helpline today would have subjected to the opinions of these fringe nonsense spewers in their entirety. I kid you not and I quote 'Muhammad was a murderer... and God forgave him!' WTF? Muhammad was NOT a murderer, I have never ever heard such a theological standpoint on Muhammad before. Who had he the motive and plot to murder? 'God forgave him!' Did God tell you that? No. So why are saying this madness? Anyway if you have the stomach for it call the new national helpline emergency relief voucher scheme for a supermarket or petrol voucher, but I warn you they will not answer until you hear them out. I got answered when I quoted Jesus' 'Let the dead bury their dead', i. E. Let your children, whom you have already condemned, bury you, and let their children be condemned in turn and bury them. KJV Luke 9:60.
When I got through I was told that my local Salvos Doorways here in WA (who have given me nice vouchers even up until last week and a non-perishables box, and back in Victoria where you could get $50 of food every single week (literally even every single day) if you could take a handful of townies agro from the locals for your efforts) on the 4th day of the month! So I was literally told that Salvos down here had no money for the rest of the month, which is blatantly untrue. I was asking how it was run because I have been there three times and it seems the new hotline doesn't change anything with limits (3 visits max. A year here). Anyway wow, Muslims across the country will be losing their minds listening to the horrific fringe views of this charity. Unbelievable. It's a free country so I would like as many people as possible to try and score yourself $50 of government funded financial assistance. The number is 1300 371 288
