A few weeks ago I had an at home pickup from Salvation Army. Everything about the experience was great. Someone contacted me to notify me approximately when their representatives would arrive at my house. Their timing was perfect. Specifically I want to mention that Orlando and Tommy were great representatives of the SA. They both were friendly, helpful and professional. After arrival they wasted no time loading the multiple furniture items I was donating. They were personable, which made my experience enjoyable. Kuddos to Tommy and Orlando for a great job assisting me. I would not hesitate to donate to SA again. My only disappointment was that they could not accept my piano as a donation. 🙁 Thank you to Orlando and Tommy and The Salvation Army.
This lady claims she got dog bit by the dogs I had in my car when I was going through the line to get food but them dogs has never bit nobody and never will she didn't holler she didn't say anything I had a witness with me to prove that she never got bit if you get a dog bite you going to say something right there and then but I find out two weeks later they are full of crap and I don't like liars you're not going to wait 2 weeks to say something the person that was with me said they would testify against her for lying she's just trying to get money out of somebody that she's not going to get no money out of cuz that's not going to happen if she did got dog bite then she got it from somebody else's dogs all the churches and communities that I go to said they did not believe that she ever got dog bite by these babies here they'll bark at you but that's all they do if I could give them a zero at the Shorewood

Two weeks ago I scheduled online for a dresser and a nightstand to be picked up today from my elderly mother's residence. When I scheduled the pickup I asked to be notified an hour before they came and provided my email and phone number. I was at my mother's residence all day today and Salvation Army never showed up, emailed me or called me. I'm disgusted. Needless to say, I will never donate anything, whether an item or money, to Salvation Army again!
The Salvation Army has went down hill. There prices have went up dramatically over the years, and now they have eliminated half price senior day. That's hard to understand since everything is donated to them. I guess I'm done with the Salvation Army.
They Force the Recovering Addicts residing at their ARC (adult rehabilitation center) to apply for Government Assistance the same day they put them to work in their warehouse for 2,2$ consession vouchers a week. Our local stores prices are higher than retail. I used to clean the Captains office he had 60 thousand dollar Violins. Super Shady.

The truck driver and the labourer had no remorse on how they treated our house we gave them alot of good stuff that you could sell they wrecked our walls and scratched it bad where now we won't be able to get our full bond back I'm really $#*!ed off. I thinks it only fare yous pay for the damages yous did.😡
We felt compelled to do a "good deed" by donating our beautiful dining room set (original cost $5,400) to the Salvation Army because it is too large for our condo. They came out, noticed a "scratch" and REFUSED to take it. They said they only accept new items or furniture in EXCELLENT condition. Sickening and unappreciative. I will no longer donate anything to this organization, This is a business, NOT a charity. The government should revoke their "tax exempt" status.
I made a schedule to pick up with them today. I cancelled in a last second mistakenly and called them back to fix it. They said okay but they did not do anything about it. They lied yo give me dispatcher number and extension also. I already saw the driver and spoke with them to get the building and he was so rude. I thought they are coming hut they dud not. I made several phone calls and they were now saying we can not take your item because you are rude yo driver which is totally lie. Also they transfer me to someone says we can not reschedule to you and we don't take any hospital items. There was a list on my order shows everything what I have but they changed their mind suddenly. Please don't bother yourself to waste your time and get stressful to deal with them. They don't care anything about what you are going through. They are just useless and very bad. Put your item to the garbage or give away for free to anyone. It is better.

I don't recommend "anyone of color with a family"—to work here. "Unless your use to being a "yes man or woman" — Your work is always undervalued, Bosses are Bullies—Pay sucks. Racism is definitely how I describe the fake smiles in their faces. They don't really care about the community..
Most charities are out of touch but none more so then the Salvos.
Practice what you preach.
Turned down for a food voucher because ive got a cpl before... i need them im desperate then they ask dumb question like when do you get paid not about what are your circumstances.
Ill never deal with these vermin again
Brought two 'complete' items as gifts. Both are actually incomplete making them basically unusable. Might as well as just chucked $80 away. Was refused a refund due to a month having passed before the items were opened. Contacted customer service via email re one item and 2 weeks later still no response. Make sure any large purchases are checked on premises in front of staff to make sure you are actually getting a usable product.
On Tues 6/19/18 at 9:00 AM I tried to find needed items at the store on W. Colonial Dr Orlando, FL. The loud Christian music that was being played was distasteful on many levels. It made me want to quit shopping there. But, I shopped a little anyway. As I shopped, I found that most clothing items cost at least $4.99. I found not one desirable item in my average size that was discounted with the blue tag for half price. I used to spend hours at this store, but I left after 20 minutes. I purchased one item, a sun visor for $1.99. Drop your prices if you want more customers. We seniors on fixed incomes need a little break.
I scheduled a couch pick up a few weeks ago because I'm expecting new furniture. I could have easily got money for it but decided that I wanted to donate so that I'm helping a family in need. When you schedule a pick up, no where does it indicate that they screen your item first before taking it. Once the driver arrives he tells me that he has to take a picture first of my couch and he will call me back to let me know whether it's yes or no. He calls and said he was told no. So the Salvation Army only wants items that are in mint condition otherwise they won't take it. No family benefits from the donation it's only the company looking to profit off of the transaction. Shame on you Salvation Army! Never will I think about donating a nickel to this company. Not only do you waste people's time but families that are in need miss out based on your greed. A supervisor called me just to say he called which was a complete waste of time.Never again!
The men's rehab program has unrealistic goals for anyone coming off of the street. They think you should come from active addiction, prison, jail or the streets to military structure and they receive great joy from failing people. It may be a non profit but do not be fooled it is all for profit. And it's ran by people that get off on condemning others.we have concrete evidence that administration expects perfection from addicts with no remorse, they are a Christian organization with no Christian values.they are 100% Old Testament law, off with their heads for any small mistake and no mercy. If you are considering rehab do not consider Salvation Army. There is no mercy and there is no grace.
Cleveland, Ohio. Should be a zero rating. Wanted to donate a loveseat, chair and ottoman. When they saw I have a dog, they used the excuse that there were "too many dog hairs on it" and wouldn't take it. After they left I found 3 or 4 while vacuuming it. They had already decided that they weren't going to take it. It was in good condition but they were lazy and didn't want to work. Unless you buy it new, they won't take it. Nothing on their site mentions pet hair. I won't ever donate to them again. Others I have since told have also heard of their reputation. Was told it's their option. They should be grateful for any donation.

I recently went to a Salvation Army store, at 2359 Jerome Avenue, Bronx, NY, looking for a sofa bed. There was one particular sofa bed of interest, priced at $549.00 (plus tax) The item had minor scratches, and was listed for sale, "As Is". I approached a salesperson at the cashier's desk, which I presumed to be the store manager. I confirmed the price with this person and asked her who had priced this item. She told me that she was the person responsible for the pricing. I took issue with the exorbitant price of the item, and I walked outs of the store.

I have been going to opportunity shops ever since I got my first job.
Being a low income earner these stores made it possible to buy great clothes, shoes and homewares. I am now really disappointed with the prices.
These stores are not necessarily for the poor any more, If I wanted to buy new products I would go to Kmart, they are actually cheaper with some things, I don't, cause I like old/used its just hit and miss with some of the prices, just be aware and know your product value.
These stores are still my faves.
She's white, thin and wears glasses. She yelled at an older woman at the cash register with, "You keep interrupting me and I'm trying to explain..." The older woman was only asking a question about a coupon discount. The employee sounded condescending, a control freak, with no people skills.
We have a schedule pick up today to donate some items, including 2 fridges in perfect working condition. One of them had a dent/little rust on one of the doors and the other one a "stain" on the side, due to these "issues" they didn't take them. I was in absolute shock! I call them because I thought they were helping people in need. Their reasoning for not taking them was "because they couldn't sell them like that". I thought this charity helped veterans and people in need and were not in place "to make a profit". I will NEVER donate to them again.
Habitat for humanity took them in a heart beat... this was very disappointing.
I have been calling the salvation army in garland for over a month now just to see how to apply for the boys & girls club and still have not yet received a call back, go up there and no one is there but the business hour say they open...I'm lost with that one
I thought the salvation was for the people but I guess they for themselves too!
Smh this has become a nonchalant organization!
I pray that y'all would love and act like christians as y'all claim to be
I got the number for this salvation army in van buren from the electric company because they said they help pay electric bill the lady was so rude to me and saying they don't do that and she hung up on me
They have elements ok kkk in their ranks which they Sadly refuse to deal with. Praying that they get enough courage to face the racism in their centers. Fairfax Salvation Army is plagued with rude nasty racists. SAD

I used to love to buy used stuff at salvation army but starting this year everything gets only junk and expensive. I don't where is the good stuff, they took them away somewhere else, or somebody is taking advantage of the good items and we the customers only get the junk they left. A lot of pieces broken because nobody cares. The only value thing you guys take to the store are broken and a high price. What a shame. This year i didn't buy not even half than what i bought last year.
Scheduled THREE times for SA to pick up from a home that had a lot of items that I listed on line to let whomever know it would be a big order. The organization is impossible to reach by phone and no one every replies to an email request. This morning was the last straw, three times in less than 24 hours I had received 'three different ' pick up times (this pickup had been scheduled for 3 weeks) then Tracy the gal that had asked me to send photos of the items, which I had and she had replied in an email thanking me, finally talked to her in real life and she claimed I had not sent pictures and I reminded her that she had replied to my email with the pictures... the organization is not organized and I have put in to much of my time to be put on hold for time and time again trying to reach someone and then having them cancel this morning after waiting three weeks for the appointment. Many of my friends have asked me to use SA but I will not again. Sorry but this is how it played out.
Salvation Army is founded and based in England. They give the new good toys to the children who goes to their churches. They have a summer camp, but if you need food or shelter, you have to try to prove that you need it and my uncle stayed there and soup and sandwiches were free and you had to pay for better food. They kicked you out during the day and found you temporary work like moving chairs around at the coliseum for less than minimum wage so you can buy other food if you want it. After so long, you can't stay there any longer. They don't spend 85 cents on the dollar here unless you count the captains salaries and they always provided the captains with a house to live in while they are over a certain church. I went there once when I was waiting on disability and they were soo nasty to me for a couple of bags of free food and then suddenly they weren't giving food every month, but they only were giving it once every 3 months. They show off during hurricanes etc, but they don't really do that much. The captains put in request for certain size clothes for their own kids and the new stuff donated goes to the captains and their families or to places like New York where they can get top dollar for the new items. So they are good to kids going to the church but they don't spend that much money here in the USA except for employee salaries and benefits.
