This company does not typically respond to reviews
This isn't a place for breaking movie news or long-form journalism. What it is, is a passionate and active fan community. The "SR Originals" are my favorite. The writers on this site often find ways to write about shows and movies from angles I never thought of.
Overall entertainment sites in general have ads running on their site, but Screenrant makes the experience impossible for the user. The pop-up video ads are more noticeable on mobile. The other experience to share is that they do tend to not source where they get an exclusive. Sometimes they do which seems to be other sites owned by the same media company, but otherwise no credit is given to the original source. That is a sneaky practice and contributes to mis-information.
Puts spoilers in headlines for clicks. They literally spoil films and tv shows so they can make money. Please don't support websites like this.
I was expecting to find discussion and criticism about movies and tv series but it's actually just some people desperately pushing political agendas.
Everything on this site is written from a political bias and nothing more than that. No honest reviews just pure political opinion.
The formula is: Dc comics negative highlights generate clicks for the Marvel fans and for the DC fans... and the random ones.
Marvel Comics negative highlights generate clicks only from the MArvel fans and the random ones. No Dc fans.
So i will drop any generical negative angle for any DC productions and garantee my internet cash! That´s it.
It´s just a fanboy Marvel site to proliferate any fake news and speculation only for the clickbait sake. If no conflits comes around, if the nerdsphere is in peace with complete satisfaction for all the productions that come with us... this site will genereta enough negative buzz for no marvel studios productions just for the sake to generete conflit... stay relevant... and more clicks.
Screen Rant was a great source of news and review for a long time. I think that when Vic sold the site that's when it became click-bait garbage. The writers somehow think throwaway sentences from impromptu interviews count as news, and they've been called out for making mountains out of molehills. Most recently I remember James Gunn criticized them for misrepresenting a quote of his about Guardians of the Galaxy 2, where the "journalist" in question wrote an article for a shocking headline but ultimately betraying the trust of the filmmaker, a filmmaker that screen rant's editors claim to enjoy.
Speaking of, even the lead editor of the last 7+ years recently left the company. Could it be that the new owners are more interested in clicks than quality? That'd be a shame, because it used to be the opposite. Now Screen Rant pumps out crap like opinion lists and quizzes. The occasional movie review slips through, but usually their reviews are out of touch. For example, when Iron Fist was released on Netflix, Screen Rant easily put out more than ten articles on why Iron Fist was so bad and no one liked it, even though their comments section was full of readers who claimed they DID in fact like Iron Fist. Sadly, the truth about Screen Rant lies in their comments section, as long are allowed to post. After calling out perhaps one too many writers/editors for wrong facts or misrepresentation, my comments are automatically marked as spam. There's no spam, I'm not pasting links or soliciting business. I'm merely sharing my opinion and knowledge. The old Screen Rant loved their fanbase interaction, but now it's some sort of totalitarian regime. So I say so long Screen Rant. Good luck with the clicks.
Tip for consumers:
Don't read the articles. At most check their sources. You'll find much more reliable news that way.
Wonderful site to keep updated on a Variety of topics. It always puts a smile on my face to read their articles. They have a fresh perspective.
You know what you do! Stealing almost word for word content from various YouTubers and repackaging them as your own. Shame on you all.
There are no sources or citations to back up any viewpoints made, their content is mainly unbacked opinion and open conjecture.
I stopped wasting my time reading articles of this site as I realised I just kept feeling more and more annoyed at what I was reading and that wasn't good for my mental health. The so-called "journalists" of this site have no idea what they're talking about, having clearly not watched the TV show/film etc. they're writing about, while also being very unreasonably nitpicky and snowflakey about every little thing about whatever TV show or film they're writing about, or should I say attacking, while not even getting their facts right. The same goes for Gamerant, it's sister site, with articles that despite claiming have to be objective are nothing but the stupid, ridiculous opinions of the authors that are expressed in such a childish, juvenile, opinionated and condescending way, making out their opinions are fact, with a lot of what they write as well not even being backed up with any evidence.
There are many examples of this but one significant example I can think of is all the articles they'd write about Friends, nitpicking at every little single thing about it as being offensive, like saying the friends are bad friends to each other by making fun of each other affectionately, like that's what friends do, you mustn't have actual close friends to know that, while clearly not having even watched the show. It even made some misogynist comments, like how in Friends Rachel should've just stopped seeing her male friend Mark like Ross wanted if it bothered him so much, as well as a load of other very unreasonable opinions that made no sense whatsoever. A lot of the titles are even followed with "according to reddit users" like they can't just come up with their own ideas. Also the "Disney Villains who were right", actually claiming that they were right to kill people or whatever simply because they had a motive, as well as all sorts of other kinds of ridiculous rationalisations and condoning of immoral and wrong stuff.
I make sure to steer well away from this site as well as it's sister site Gamerant from now on.
OMG! Couldn't even get through ONE article! The constant pop up, intrusive, INVASIVE Ads literally ECLIPSED the page
Who the hell writes 4-5 articles in a day? No one, even if the writing is horrible and the article is less than 1000 words. What in the hell is this nonsense? Really? All of a sudden, everyone (average doodles) and their bro friend can write like a madman? Taking credit for other people's work and pathetic opinion pieces on stupid subjects, even if they sometimes give you the ability to do this sort of thing for money? Do they do anything else other than write crappy blogs? No, yes, and no! Maybe if you took your time, you would actually write a decent article on a decent subject that displays decent writing. What does this mean then? Well, it probably means that the so-called writers on this website are fake or are faking their writing in some way, etcetera. "How is this?" you ask. Well, it probably means that they are ripping off other people's articles and are expecting or not caring if they're getting away with it; I have seen this before (looking at you, Listverse). It probably also means that they are "hiring" other writers and using their material for their publishment on a third-party website. Is this a given and acceptable? Sure, but to say that you have 2000 articles under your belt after only 2 years of writing is utterly ridiculous. No sale on that one, my friends! I also find that doing this without giving credit to the person who actually wrote the crappy article is dishonest, as it would only be fair to them and everyone else. I mean, really? Why would you take credit for half of the garbage "article" blogs on this website? Anyway, I do not buy it, and this is coming from someone who writes a lot and still cannot churn out the monstrous load that these jerkoffs release. Good luck on trying to convince me of this garbage -- the numerous other issues I find with this are unnecessary to mention here. Regardless, this is a waste of my time, as the internet needs to be cleaned up. Trash like this is unacceptable, and no amount of payment makes it believable. In the end, I suppose that getting paid makes you abuse the system even more than usual, right? Don't worry though, as just about every other website is to blame for this absolute garbage. However, this is certainly one of the worst and most unbelievable ones that I've seen, and I will never believe it until I actually see the real world results from real people with actual talent. To end this nicely, be sure to have a lovely day, and don't believe anything that you read from most of these websites, period. Then again, they're just spreading their asinine opinions to the public eye, but in spite of this regression, I digress.
