Got the appointment with ease. Received confirmation of appointment. Shane arrived exactly on time and knew exactly how to repair our Bosch dishwasher. Very courteous and efficient. Would recommend Sears Home Services. Gave some good advice to use pods instead of liquid and mid range Bosch dishwashers have excellent quality. This company has really got its act together!
As of today I have been without a working refrigerator for three months. The Sears Home Services Repair Protection Agreement was renewed for this appliance along with a dishwasher on May 7,2024 at a cost of $1,243.59 for three years. The refrigerator compressor failed on June 21 and Sears said no appointments were available until July 16. On July 16 the tech arrived to verify that a compressor was needed. Sears ordered the parts and scheduled repair for August 13. One part was then reported as delayed (but when I checked Amazon it was available for same-day delivery) and Sears pushed the repair back one week to August 20. Even though all parts had arrived on August 20 the tech didn't show up. After finally reaching an actual person at Sears they, without explanation or apology, stated that no tech could come until September 17. Three months without a refrigerator covered by an expensive service agreement. All their customers have similar stories. EDIT -- Here's an update on my review. Finally, on September 17,2024 the refrigerator covered by the Sears Home Services Repair Protection Agreement was repaired. That's 3 months after the first attempt to get it fixed. The reason why it takes so long is that Sears will automatically make you wait three weeks before they will send any tech to your home. They are hoping you will become so desperate that you replace the appliance at your own expense rather than wait for them. Look elsewhere for a Home Repair service. Do not pay Sears for any service contract.
First - the use of people in 3rd world countries which speak poor english, cannot make a decision and have no authority is a waste of everyones time.
2nd - repair man knocked the tubing off my humidifier while doing a regular maintenance check, which caused the humidifier to dump gallons and gallons of water thru my walls (my furnace is on the 2nd floor) causing $25k in damages. Not only does their 3rd party insurance administrator not answer calls of emails Im gonna have to get a lawyer now and sue them
Sear is the one of the worst company to have issues with. I got their $400 3 year protection agreement on my oven that goes out every year right around Sept or Oct. I paid over 5k for it and it made it 1 year before it started having problems. I took the 5 year plan out when I got it and now I have this plan going on year 6. Well it not working again right around Oct tech came out didn't do much and said we have to order a part here it is January and still haven't gotten the part. I called in on the 14 of Dec and they said they would replace it and I would get email in 7 or 10 business days. I never got anything I called back today Jan 9 and now there part on its way and they won't replace it. Now just so everyone knows this is the 4 Thanksgiving and Christmas my family has gone without oven and microwave because it's a combo unit. They see that they said they would replace but since the parts been ship now they won't and I have to wait to get the part before I can set up the appt for the tech to come out. So it be probably another 2 or 3 weeks for that happens and the best thing is if this don't fix it we get to start this all over again. SEARS doesn't care about there customers period can't even talk to management.
Replaces the same part 2-3 times a year, most recently in January. Now it will take 3 weeks to get the part and install it. They refuse to give me a new dryer. They've refused since the very first year I purchased it and are weaseling out again since it was not "since 2018". No duh. I bought it new in 2014. Sears Home Services is a complete ripoff and anything connected to them. They owe me a new dryer for the lemon I purchased.
Sears Home Service is a JOKE…do not recommend. The experience with this company was worthless. Started with a appt to repair the good ole Samsung ice maker issues-VERY WELL KNOWN issue! However this company, techs, employees clueless. It asked us to input the details, model, make of the refrigerator and somehow this was changed to some unknown name (my believe is so that it wouldn't be covered under the Samsung known issue warranty). The 1st of 3 appts started on Nov 27th 2023. After multiple 8 hour days waiting for the tech to show-he had no clue, was unprofessional and lacked knowledge of the known issue. He had us order parts this company and his vehicle did not have stocked (although these details of you recall were loaded I to their database). Tech came back to install and was unable to get the ice maker apart, then told me I had to make another appt (another 8hr window to wait for him) to try again. At this point we opted to cancel and ask for a refund to ship the ordered parts back. Today it is Feb 23rd, 2024 and we have yet to receive our refund for these items that we have tracking were received back to them over 30days ago. Everyone points there finger to someone and something else!

I was given an 8am to 5pm window of arrival. I got a call at 3:30pm the technician wouldn't show - no reason given.
We've required service on our oven/stove 3 times in 4 years. The technician did not show twice.
Inexcusable.
The worst service I've ever experienced! They sent out a service guy that took my dryer apart and said it needed 3 parts and I denied the parts because it was going to cost me $300 to fix! When he left, he threw all my lint on the ground, didn't throw it away! I turned my dryer back on and it was working just fine because the lint was taken out. I called them back and I couldn't understand a word the people from India was saying, I asked for a supervisor like 10 times and he refused and hung up on me! I called after the weekend to cancel my shipment of parts and they said they canceled it, but I woke up this morning with an email saying the parts shipped and they took out the money! This is why Sears is going out of business! I don't want anyone to experience what I did, very unethical what they're doing! I'm calling the BBB and complaining!
I called to have a service person come to my house and fix our washing machine that we've only had for 2 years, spent $1,700 on and suddenly it broke. The service was scheduled to happen yesterday 06/10 between 1pm and 5pm. I took off work to be there for the appointment. No one ever came. I called in at 4:30 to see where they were and the automated system advised my service man would be there between 5pm and 7 pm. No one ever came. I call this morning to see what happened and the automated system tells me my appointment is set for Thursday 06/13. My question is Why. Why wouldn't they let me know something has changed? Why didn't they call me at all and why am I losing money and wasting my time with this company? Save yourself the headache. Call a different company for your repairs and don't shop at Sears there product was and is a piece of crap.
Our Kenmore frig was icing up, so the technician fixed the situation for $355, however it only lasted for 120 days just 30 days past the warranty of service before it started having problems again. They would NOT give any discount to get the same problem fixed a second time. My recommendation is SEARS retail went out of business for a reason, stay clear of this service business at ALL cost.
I took a half day off from work to wait from 1:00-5:00pm for clothes washer service. The technician never showed up. I called three times for a status update, and then the technician--who never contacted me--canceled the appointment at 7:30pm. Worst ever!
Extremely poor service. Last year Sears did sales on duct cleaning $99,00 for 10 vents. The technician arrived and quote $1,600 for the job. I refuse the service. This year they are running the same special. I made an appointment for August 21st with window time 9 am-12 noon. The technician did not show. I made numerous calls to the 703 339 58-88 phone number and to the tall free number and I was assured that the technician is running late but the service will be provided. Meanwhile the technician calls me, and I recognize his voice the same phone number 202... from last year. He wanted to reschedule the appointment even if Chris, Lisa, and Samantha kept saying that the driver will show. At the end of the day the appointment was rescheduled for August 28 with same window time. At 10.33 am I made the call and Chris assure me that the tech will be in 22 minutes in my house. After 12.15 I called again, and Chris kept lying and even did not care that I am upset. Later the driver called me and offer me $800.00 for the service. He remembers my house well. I do not know who oversees Sears home services, but it looks like it is operating by a big mafia. Shame on them!
Twice in the past month we have schedules Sears home Services to come out for different issues The first time, they did not come within the 4 hour window, and I did not receive a call for 2 more hours. That call was to cancel my appointment for the day, as they had overbooked. Assuming that was a fluke, we rescheduled. This time, they were still late, but came. Today ( a month later) we had another appointment. They did not show nor call withing the 4 hour allotted time slot. When I called them, they said the original tech couldn't make it, but they were trying to send someone else out. I cancelled the service request and called elsewhere. If overbooking and not showing is their idea of customer service, I will gladly take my business elsewhere.
This is the modern version of "bait and switch". I called for service on a dishwasher. I gave the person the model and serial number and said the door latch was broken. When the "technician" arrived he examined the door and said the latch is broken and he would try to find the part. After 45 minutes i went to his truck and found him on the phone drinking a soft drink. He said he couldn't find the part but he would look in his truck (after 45min). He then said that he could order the part for an additional $225. I said that i would pay $1000 for a new one before i paid them a cent. He then asked how I would pay for his diagnosis call. I said he must not have heard that I would not pay anything I had already diagnosed the problem. This is an old practice they have been fined for previously.
STAY AWAY!
I would never recommend this company to anyone. I had to wait for two Appt to get them to look at refrigerator because they keep canceling. Then the quoted a repair, fixed it and the refrigerator still did not work. They made us wait another week, cancelled that appointment after they already stated they were coming due to weather issues (it's 76 and sunny) and want us to wait two more weeks for them to even come back out to look at the refrigerator that they never fixed. No one at the service center would help me they sent me back to a supervisor who wouldn't help me. I now have to go buy a new refrigerator after I just spent all this money for them to Replace a part that didn't even fix the refrigerator. I am 44 and in my whole life I have never seen a company act this way.
This review is for Sears Home Services in general, as I don't know if my service was handled out of Durham or Raleigh. Regardless, absolutely one of the worst customer experiences I can recall. Appointment for my just-out-of-warranty Kenmore dishwasher was 1-5PM. Tech called at 4:25 to say he was on the way. He showed up at 5:40, no apology. He then diagnosed the problem for the $79 fee I'd agreed to, and added another $190 for the repair, which took about 20 minutes. So this appointment was now cost me $269. On a, when new, dishwasher that was $610. I tried calling SHR and after several attempts and getting the run-around, was told that there was nothing that could be done, the price was the price, and too bad. NEVER USE THESE FOLKS. THEY'RE A RIP-OFF. No wonder Sears itself went out-of-business.
My washer was leaking because of drain issues. The Sears Home Services Tech first came on July 6. He diagnosed the issue as a leaking drain hose. The part was ordered, and it took two weeks to arrive. The tech came to install, and discovered that another drain hose was also leaking, and had to be replaced. Obviously, this should have been diagnosed originally. That additional hose was ordered, and eventually the tech replaced it. He left, I ran the washer, and it would not drain at all. Finally, the tech discovered that the drain pump had to be replaced. Obviously, this should have been diagnosed originally. That part was ordered. Finally, the pump was replaced on August 24 -- SEVEN WEEKS after the initial appointment. At least the washer works now. Along the way, Sears sent different techs for different appointments, who would not work on a job started by someone else. One said that the original tech would return later the same day. That tech was scheduled to come to my house at 6 pm or so, but FALSELY filed a report that he had come, and that i was not home -- with a fabricated photo, supposedly of my house, which looked like a blurry close-up of a person's palm. I wasted so much time waiting for techs who never came, not to mention waiting for appointments that would not have been necessary if the first tech had been competent, Finally, it is virtually impossible to reach a live person at Sears on their customer "service" line. Insult to injury, the techs try to sell you Sears warranties. After this experience, I will never use Sears Home "Services" again.
We want to sincerely apologize for the recent service experience you had with us that fell short of your expectations. We genuinely appreciate your feedback as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We are actively working on improving our service to ensure this doesn't happen in the future.
I have been battling with Sears to get my fridge repaired since 11/21. I keep setting up appointments and they put on the appointment that I have the Sears Home Warranty WHICH I DO NOT! So they have to cancel the appointment and and set up a new one without the home warranty. Of course it's a later date. Finally I got to reschedule for today 10-2 and I was just informed at 11:55 that the tech called in sick so I have to reschedule. Now I have to wait, without a fridge, til Dec 16th. This is ridiculous!
Unable to show within four (4) hour schedule window. Called their 800 # customer sac. Rang and placed on hold for solid 22 minutes, when young lady answered, she was located on another country, not USA and the only thing she could do is confirm my repair svc. Appt. Which at this point was WAY past overdue, she was unable to provide a local number I could call, nor the dispatch's number nor the technicians number.
When tech arrived, he was unwilling to listen, just spoke over me, turned the washing machine on and told me that if I WAS HIM, I should just purchase a new machine b/c Sears will charge me $90 for him to tell me that and since I have not extended warranty it would run me $517 to repair it (I paid $400 for new Maytag washing machine, three years a go). He was unable to provide written estimate and was unable/incapable to send screen shot of estimate from his phone via email nor text. OVERALL, WASTED 1/2 DAY.
Sears Home services is an absolute joke, they cancel your appointments with no notice and refuse to honor their warranty. I have a 5 year warranty on my washer and they will not come out to honor it.

I had my first visit from Sears Home Services on January 12,2022. Multiple delays and still waiting as of March 29 to fix the refrigerator door. I paid for a service contract on this appliance.
Tip for consumers:
Long waits for service visit. The last one was 45 days.

Do not bother with sears home warranty / repair. I scheduled an appointment and they rescheduled last second for two weeks out. This is unacceptable for having a broken fridge. Terrible service.
Just FYI anyone moving to Kona. Do not use SEARS REPAIR SERVICE for any appliance work u need I was just ripped off big time by them. $350 to put a piece of tin foil to stop a vibrating freezer
Oh yeah and he cleaned my coils! Complete scam job
Oh yeah let me add... I almost forgot. So I called these crooks today 3 times got run around on all 3 calls finally i told them what happen they then put me on hold and after 42 minutes hung up on me!
SO DISGUSTING!
It's obvious why Sears is going out of business. Bought a lawnmower 5/8/2018. Our fault for not opening box b4 taking home which is about 2 hrs away. When we did someone had already been in it and broke the handle, the bags were open and items were missing.
Took it back and replaced with a different one. This time we opened box, all looked fine. Until we go to use it. Immediately it begins to sound like it can barely stay running. 3 year warranty and they are going to come to our house to fix anything wrong and no cost to us. We tried calling number we were given only to find out that only one repair place in town and they won't make house calls.
They have the mower a week and a half saying we don't have a warranty then oh yes you do. I guess the warranty paper i shoved up his nose was written in invisible ink to him. We waited another week for a part to come in. Ridiculous.
Bring it home finally and used it once and started acting weird again. Use it yesterday and it actually ran well until i put more gas in. Now surging again and dies in a nice cloud of blue smoke coming out of it. I am told i have to keep talking it in 4 times b4 they will exchange. When you make a phone call to these places i think i am getting customer support or complaint department only to find out i am yelling at some poor sales person on the floor who can't do their job let alone fix my mowers issues.
Have a 2 year old Kenmore Elite refrigerator. Cooling and freezer went out and called for repair which arrived the next day on April 1. Replaced the compressor and other stuff. Workman said it was likely to go out again in 2-3 days because of interchangeable parts are not truly interchangeable. Cooling and freezer went out again 10 days later. Called for repair and received appointment for one week from call. Complained to a supervisor who said I might be able to call the warranty center at 7 am and schedule an emergency repair for today being Saturday. Turns out Sears does not work on weekends blaming emergency rules. Supervisor did not have important info or else he was trying to get rid of me. My complaints were not on the script that they read. Also this warranty department does not have my email address which is funny because they emailed me a receipt after the April 1 repair visit. Seems like Sears left hand does not know what its right hand is doing. Very disappointed in this Kenmore Elite because it was rated better than Samsung but it turns out to be made by LG which is equally as crappy. Received advice that it is best to buy the cheapest no-frills fridge and wait until it craps out and buy another cheap no-frills replacement which will probably save money over time. Have to deal with ice in ice chests now for the next week until I get my maybe repair done again. One more repair and I can make legal noise as this product could be considered to be a "lemon" in California
We bought our refrigerator from Sears, about 6 years ago. It was a Kenmore Elite made by LG. Quite expensive. It stopped working on 12/30/2022 We called Sears Home Services, they came out on 1/2/2023, diagnosed the problem, charged us $875 upfront to repair it. It took more than three weeks for all of the parts to arrive, then another 2 weeks to schedule someone to come out and install them. That was done on 2/3/2023. It is now almost three days after the repairs were completed, AND OUR REFRIGERATOR STILL DOESN'T WORK! No one answers the phone when you call. So, SIX WEEKS NOW AND NO REFRIGERATOR, and we PAID THEM?! Stay away from this company!

Ice maker stopped working within warranty. After 6 repair appointments not counting the one that they didn't show up for they replaced the refrigerator (LG, Kenmore logo). I had to be home for each appointment. I think they try to wear you out to the point of buying ice trays for ice. Six months later, same problem that they could not fix with the first ice maker. Repair person shows up and of course is familiar with problem. Part gets delivered and no show on appointment. This is the ninth time I had to be home during a 4 hour window not to mention the hours on the phone with non-English foreign employees. Do not call 800 4 my home, it will send you to a foreign country that sears uses for cheap labor. Call *******505 which is customer relations. These people don't care about you either but they speak English. My nightmare has only just started again. I used to buy major appliances, tools, clothes, tires, batteries etc. but never again. It's no wonder they are struggling financially. Good bye forever.
