“Top Quality from start to finish!”

Got the appointment with ease. Received confirmation of appointment. Shane arrived exactly on time and knew exactly how to repair our Bosch dishwasher. Very courteous and efficient. Would recommend Sears Home Services. Gave some good advice to use pods instead of liquid and mid range Bosch dishwashers have excellent quality. This company has really got its act together!

“THREE MONTHS WITHOUT FRIDGE WITH SEARS SERVICE CONTRACT”

John L.
9/15/24

As of today I have been without a working refrigerator for three months. The Sears Home Services Repair Protection Agreement was renewed for this appliance along with a dishwasher on May 7,2024 at a cost of $1,243.59 for three years. The refrigerator compressor failed on June 21 and Sears said no appointments were available until July 16. On July 16 the tech arrived to verify that a compressor was needed. Sears ordered the parts and scheduled repair for August 13. One part was then reported as delayed (but when I checked Amazon it was available for same-day delivery) and Sears pushed the repair back one week to August 20. Even though all parts had arrived on August 20 the tech didn't show up. After finally reaching an actual person at Sears they, without explanation or apology, stated that no tech could come until September 17. Three months without a refrigerator covered by an expensive service agreement. All their customers have similar stories. EDIT -- Here's an update on my review. Finally, on September 17,2024 the refrigerator covered by the Sears Home Services Repair Protection Agreement was repaired. That's 3 months after the first attempt to get it fixed. The reason why it takes so long is that Sears will automatically make you wait three weeks before they will send any tech to your home. They are hoping you will become so desperate that you replace the appliance at your own expense rather than wait for them. Look elsewhere for a Home Repair service. Do not pay Sears for any service contract.

Scheduled Maytag Washer repair with Sears Home Service and A&E Factory service shows up. My first conversation is advising him that I had a similar issue last year with a sock getting stuck in the suction pump. He quickly cut me off to say "there is no suction in a washer" I brushed it off and said "whatever you call it, but it sucks water in the hose to remove from the machine". He opened the lid and almost scolding me said " I thought you said it wasn't draining"... me - "I did"... him in a sarcastic tone."well there isn't any water in it". So I snapped back "You're Welcome! I emptied it out manually. Unfortunately the talking down to me didn't end but the worse part of the whole trip is that he removed the top control panel and when he put it back on, there is a bottom metal lip that is supposed to be inside to keep it from lifting every time you pull the stop knob. It want it put on correctly and know they are refusing to come back to fix it without charging me another $99 for another service call. I have escalated and people won't give me their names and I only got a "we'll put in your complaint and you will get a call back in 3-5 business days". What! What the heck, just call back the tech... it's only 11:30 am on a Tuesday. It's not like it's 5 on a Saturday. Worse technical and customer service EVER!

First, the technicians seemed to know little about my dishwasher. When it quit heating the water for washing, I thought it might be a sensor (actually knowing nothing about the matter) and the tech agreed and ordered a sensor. Giving me at the time a totally ridiculous reason for why it did not seem to make a difference immediately.
But after a month of no improvement, another tech came and guessed it might be the heating element. It was ordered and installed. Then the real problems began. I produced my credit card for payment and the tech tried to run it through a little device he was carrying. He said that it was not processing at the time but that they would send a bill. And send a bill they did. But at the same time, my credit card statement arrived showing a payment to Sears Home Services for the exact amount on the bill. The only difference was that the bill was for service on August 23 and the statement showed the payment processed on August 24. The bill says that all disputes must be presented in writing and they make sure that is your only option by providing numbers that are no longer in service or are answered by a message saying to call during normal business hours, which of course you are already doing. I documented the situation with a detailed explanation and have now gotten the third invoice from them saying I owe the $ 233.78 which my credit card statement shows has been paid. They are threatening a collection agency. Incidentally, the heating element didn't help either and I have since bought a new dishwasher which Sears Home Services will never touch.

My 7 year old
Kenmore water softer has a leak in the brine tank. After reading the
Warranty which states after the first year I am required to pay a trip
Charge, (but doesn't say anything about labor) I assumed the trip charge
Is all I would have to pay. On
3/20/2019 a Sears tech was out & said I "would" have to pay for
Labor too. I asked him to show me where it says that in the warranty,
But he could not. He was only going by what his tablet was telling him. I
Said fine, just ship me the replacement tank & I will install it
Myself. I was a service technician for Hobart & a restaurant chain
For 34 years so I could do this with no problem. He said he ordered the
New brine tank & I should be receiving it in 5 business days. I
Never received the tank so I spent a lot of time on the phone with
Numerous people today. They said the tech didn't order a new tank &
That I could not install it myself. I had to pay Sears to install
It... Is it any wonder why Sears (who at one time was the worlds
Largest retailer) is going under? This is horrible customer service. I
Took the word of the tech that I would be getting the tank, but Sears
Will not honor the warranty as written.

After dealing with Sears for many purchases over the years and receiving less than good service, this is the final straw! Purchased a fridgedaire refrigerator on 5. 22. 2017 Called immediately that it was not cooling, after many weeks of battling by phone it is 7. 17. 2017 and still no resolution. Parts literally missing from 3500. 00 brand new refrigerator! Now it leaks water everywhere, cannot use ice or water. Have to wring wet towel every hour so it doesn't drip and ruin brand new flooring. Cannot get anyone to replace. 4th service call... no one knows anything or has authority to do anything but schedule another appointment. Get a different answer every time i call! Never never again will i purchase from sears! I am going to take this lemon and drop it on their doorstep and let everyone know what they are like to deal with! Many many other people going through same or similar issues. It seems every neighbor and client of mine that i speak to is or has been in a bad situation with customer service! SHAME ON YOU SEARS! No wonder you are closing stores!

November 20th, 2023

Two weeks ago I called Sears Home Services for an appt to repair a dishwasher which was booked for November 20,2023. I was given an arrival window of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. How absurd and arrogant is that to expect a paying customer to take a whole day off to wait for their tech. Then the endless text messages and emails every day and multiple times a day wanting confirmation and reminders of an appt two weeks away. I confirmed each and every message promptly. I now knew I'd made a mistake by dealing with a bully company with so so little regard for their customers but stayed with it to avoid further delays. By the way, their cost to simply come out and identify the problem ($139) was substantially higher than others thought is was to credited against the final invoice. This all but assured that most people would accept the repair rather than replace the appliance and loose $139. Well today is November 20 and they were no shows. I received a message from them this morning saying I had been cancelled because theyo had no service techs in the area. They don't deserve a rating of 1. They don't even deserve a 0. I would strongly advise anyone looking for home services to look elsewhere.

Sears Home Services really stinks. The repair person came out, had to order parts and scheduled a 2nd appointment to install the parts and fix the Freezer on our Kenmore Fridge. Only one of the parts arrived. I was in contact with them daily trying to get the 2nd part before the scheduled appointment. No luck. Not only did they NOT tell me that he wouldn't come to install the one part the did arrive, they didn't tell me that when the 2nd part arrived that there weren't any appoinments available at any time to install the parts. So NOW I'm left with trying to get another entity to come out, pay a 2nd appointment fee to them to have them install the parts that Sears PROMISED they'd do. This is a horrible way to run a business. I have pages of texts with them and another page of the phone calls. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy, let alone anyone I consider a friend.

After waiting all day for an appointment, that was scheduled for 8am-12pm only to be changed after calling their customer service dept to find out where's the tech. Being told that the appointment was now push back to 1pm-5pm. Only to receive a call@4:58pm that he's not going to make. To add insult, customer service states the next available appointment is 5 days later. This insult is on top of this was to be the 5th appointment to fix a Washing machine. I'm so done with company! Already signed up with another home service company that's effective 30 days out and counting... stay away from Sears it's the worst.

First, I wish there was a zero star rating. I had an Lg/kenmore fridge that I called for service on. They came out attempted a repair at the cost of $670.47. A second tech had to come out the third time with the with the first tech. He said the compressor they put in was bad as well. Replaced it and said he would issue a refund for the service call of $670.47. He also stated that it had a bad condenser fan motor. I had to purchase and replace myself because he couldn't get one. Now when I call Sears for my refund I am always being told it's under review. No one at the company can give a straight honest answer.

My parents always bought Kenmore stuff and I can remember service people coming out and fixing them, never remember hassles or issues. So naturally I bought Kenmore stuff, but now it seams like they don't care anymore. We got your money, too bad. I was very happy when the tech told me they would make it right and give me a refund. That would definitely give me reason to call them for service again, but after this incident, I will never call Sears or purchase any products of there's.

I purchased a refrigerator from Sears about 4 years ago. It started having problems recently. Frost build up on food in the freezer and sometimes big thaws. Then the refrigerator portion wasn't keeping properly cold. Scheduled a service person online which indicated the fee would be $109. The repair person arrived, looked at the fridge and said the thermostat needs to be replaced and it would cost $369. I was shocked. The whole fridge cost a little over $500. I indicated that that was a bit expensive. Then he proceeded to try to sell me some kind of service agreement for $54 a month. Over $600 a year for...? I told him I think I'll just buy another refrigerator. He, using a fear tactic during the pandemic, said "If you can find one". "Not everyone can work on these refrigerators". *He seemed to think I wasn't going to buy another one". I told him, "I've had this fridge for about 4 years and I just don't trust it, I'll get a new one". He did try to sell the $54/mo service again. When he was convinced I wasn't having the repair done - nor taking the bait on the repair service agreement... He added insult to injury! "Because you didn't accept the estimate there would be an added fee. So? Instead of the $109 I had anticipated paying? It cost $179 to have this experience! Vowed to never buy from Sears again. Promptly ordered a new fridge from another retailer. Cross your fingers for me. *On average refrigerators last 13 years.

I wish I would have seen these reviews before. Do not call this company. I will try and be as brief as possible in summarizing my last two months of wasted time. Called for service. Serviceman ordered parts and scheduled follow up installation. On the day of scheduled installation, the serviceman cancelled because no one called to confirm delivery of the parts. Service rescheduled. Prior to scheduled time of arrival, serviceman called and after learning of the magnitude of the job, cancelled, saying no one told him the job was so large. He put in his notes that I cancelled the appointment. Having had enough, I decided to return the parts and just buy a new refrigerator. I made at least 5 calls to the call center, which is in India. There is a language barrier. I was constantly told I would receive either a call or return shipping label. I never did, until I finally reached a person at a call center in America. He immediately emailed me a return label. You can guess what happened next. Call after call asking about my refund. The last status is that I will receive a check in 21 business days! The check will be less $15 for a processing fee to cash the check! I disputed this and need to call back to find the result. I'm sure you can guess what I will be doing in 21 business days -- calling to ask about the status of my check and $15 dispute. This has to be one of the worst companies in the world. I will not only ever use them again, but will spend my life saving others from such grief.

Beware of the warranty racket and high rates. Tech came out, had the part on truck repaired refrig in less than an hour. Charge was >$400 dollars unless you sign up for warranty at $50 month, then $248. Warranty covers all appliances in home so I signed up. There was a problem with their system accepting my check so I had to give them a debit card- they don't take AMX. Fortunately there ended up being a routing number problem so they don't have access for other charges. Later in week the repair part arrives in the mail. The return past number did not work. Many phone numbers/calls later I never get an answer as to what to do with this part and was I charged for it. I will continue to pursue this and make sure the warranty is cancelled, although I will be charged the higher rate. I found the part on line for $5.00- so anyway you look at it the charges are ridiculous. Pleased with repair, all else is price gouging and deceptive practice, as they don't mention warrant or price difference until you are stuck.

This will absolutely be our last call to Sears Home Services. Be careful out there... it's all a scam game about money. We had Sears Appliance Repair come out to fix our 2 yr old dishwasher. It's been 5 and a half months and not only is our dishwasher still not fixed... the technicians have damaged it to a point that it can't be repaired now and take no responsibility for their actions. Not only that but they flooded our sub flooring to the point where it was flooding our basement floor and pouring down on our brand new dryer and their response to this was to say "it'll dry up eventually" and leave. So after 5 and a half months... 5 home visits... 1 cancellation the day of... and one no show... we have a irreparable dishwasher, scratched floors, a flooded sub floor and basement, and a water logged dryer. And the reason they have been there so often is to fix their own screw ups from the first appt. On. So far they have installed a new motor with an old seal that they put on upside down. Ordered a new seal and cracked the tub basin trying to replace the seal which caused the floor flooding. And if u have any issues u are directed to a call center in India where they do nothing but transfer u around out straight our hang up on you. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

First let me say that the service technician who came to repair the washer was good. The whole washer needed to be rebuilt and it was decided that it was better to replace the washer. Fine, but why would I want a washer that might do the same thing? I was told I could choose a new model. Dandy. I think the goal is to keep transferring you to different departments until you just give up. We finally called the Sears Outlet where we purchased the washer and manager John was awesome. All was well; returned broken washer, cancelled delivery on replacement, and took home a new GE that I'm happy with. New problem... they still tried to deliver a washer (same model I had had been trying to tell them I didn't want for a month) and in the process tore up our yard with the truck. Procedure starts all over again when you try to gel lawn repaired. Keep transferring you to a different department; then someone says they will"escalate" this and would call next day. Of course no call and when you call back you start all over. Finally you just get frustrated and give up. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!

This is a long story.

The technician failed to properly diagnose the issue until his return 3 weeks later when the first repair date was available. At that time, the part he had ordered was not the problem, but rather it was an electrical issue, which would require an electrician (and fortunately my house did not burn down during those 3 weeks)! This was for an in-wall oven. Had the technician removed the oven from the wall on the initial inspection, we wouldn't be here today.

He told me that I would be receiving a refund almost equal to the amount of the deposit they were given during the initial visit. I waited and waited and no refund came. Then the "fun" began. Go ahead and try to reach a live person regarding a billing question. YOU CAN'T. You can get to live chat, where that CSR is unable to assist you, but can provide you with an email to contact Sears.

I sent an email. No response. I was finally forced to file a charge back with my CC company, which immediately got their attention. They provided me with only a fragment of the refund I was expecting based on what I was told by the tech.

At that point, I refused to continue and waste more time. Sometimes you just have to walk away. And walk away I did and I will NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE AGAIN.

But, hey, don't worry... they will bombard you with tons of paperwork, except for that one critical piece you may need for a billing issue.

Shame on them.

Had a so called expert who said I needed a condenser put in our refrigerator well it worked for just over 30 days the next guy was watching videos on YouTube on how to test the electrical parts and called someone else they told him I needed a compressor, mother board and inverter board that would have been 1600. 00 or more the tech that was here tested the compressor and said it just needed the boards I bought the boards, put them in 300.00 for the boards they did not fix the refrigerator the inverter board still has the red light on for the refrigerator unlike the inverter board for the freezer it is green so I put in the 2 temperature sensors it is showing the temperature at 50 where it said 38 which was not correct but when I had the condenser cover off I then saw how the guy did not care he melted and burned the plastic in the refrigerator he did not use a shield it could very well have melted wiring in the back wall of the refrigerator from what I have seen and had happen these guys are not experts 2 service calls from them paid for both also paid for the condenser parts and replacement refrigerator still not working to this day

I have to agree with other reviewers. I almost would qualify it as a scam. My parents are in their eighties and live in PR where the temperature is in the 90. Their refrigerator is broken since early October. The technician came out late October and was unable to fix it. Since then they've had 3 no show appointments and this last time they rescheduled their appointment to January 5th. So my parents will spend the holidays without a refrigerator. I can't even count how many times I've unsuccessfully called the customer service line but it has to be at least 20 times. They are stuck with this service agreement which Sears is not honoring and I am not hopeful that they will even show up to the next appointment. I am to the point that I might just get them a new refrigerator and forget about the agreement. Last time I called I asked if they would just refund them the money they paid for the service agreement but they refused. I can't believe a company like Sears is treating their customers like that. Two elderly people without the ability to keep refrigerated foods in the house for over 3 months. They offered them $115 to purchase a mini fridge. Shame on you Sears!

Sears Home Services has an organized effort from the technician to their "solutions" department to defraud all consumers.
On June 1,2019 I had Service Order to perform a repair on my Kenmore Ice Maker.
I printed a coupon off their website on the internet that offered 20% off an in-home repair on a kitchen appliance (parts and labor) with an expiration date of 9/30/2019.
When the technician arrived, he put a "code" on the coupon to validate it and came back with an explanation that the coupon had expired the day before. I questioned that but decided to just take it up with Sears when the work was complete.
I had issues with an overcharge on the cost of the part and a $300 charge for labor for 1 hour of work; however, my main issue, and the one that I consider to be fraudulent is the fact that the technician refused to honor the 20% discount.
I took the matter up with the "solutions" department and was told that once the work is done, there is nothing they can do. I said to them, what did you expect me to do, punch the technician and demand my discount. They held firm on refusal to honor the coupon.
I will pay for their outrageous service and part but would like to take the 20% off the $525.07 as is owed to me. I would think that Sears would just credit me the $105.14, but they said it is not possible. It has been turned over to my credit card company as fraud. I may not be successful, but the fraud representative has an appointment with them next week and I'm sure that will be lost business.
