After selling a large shipment of calculators, I was super impressed to see the 1) almost immediate response to any questions I had, which was incredibly helpful for someone who had never done this before, 2) the quick and easy setup for payment and shipping- you just print the label they give you, attach it to a package, and take it to the post office, then payment is completed after quality check. Very smooth and great people to sell to.
I asked those people at calcswap on ebay (sellyourcalculators.com) how fast they could actually get the calculator in the mail and they gave me attitude to the question (BEFORE the sale!). I then searched and luckily found this and many other instances of how these people operate. I then asked them about the scam of how they buy. They never denied the scam as described above by so many others, all they did was tell me how wonderful they are with so many feedbacks. The feedback says NOTHING about the way they get the calculators in the first place. It's a matter of character and integrity. Either you have it or you don't! It's not often you get to find out before you bought anything what the vendors character is like. If they will screw all those who have bothered to say anything (and who knows how many, others), why not me or you? I can only guess how they might have acted if I had any problems after the sale. I will not be giving them a chance to screw me, you do as you see fit.
We sent in some calcs, in return we got about 2% of what they sell for on ebay.
Yes, I understand they have to make some money, but 2% for me, and 98% for the seller? I never would have sent anything if I had known what i was going to get!
And yes, you are charged up the rump if you want them back. I wouldn't have a problem with them doing this sort of thing if they disclosed how little money they pay first. This whole process of shipping to them first, and then they can tell us what the item is worth to them doesn't work out so well for us.@john. Yes. Customer services is nice, but its the $$$ I care about, we spent a crapton on these calculators you know!@mike. Game stop is a good comparison, but I would compare more to cash4gold sites.
Highway robbery here, don't do it!
I fell for their scam too.
I was told over the phone they were going to pay me 84 dollars each for two ti89 titaniums.
About a week after sending them the calculators, I was informed the best they could give me was 25 dollars each because they recently had an overstock of this same model.
If I wanted them back, I had to pay them 40 bucks in shipping, restocking, or other bull$#*! fee.
I payed their stupid fee, and got my calculators back. And now I will hold on to them like precious gems. Went to grad school and now I use them everyday.
And the calculators were all in excellent condition. Fully working. Keep your calculator or sell/give/trade it to a friend.
I have yet to receive the check I was suppose to get. It's been a week since I received an email saying I was suppose to get in 5-7 days.
We value all customers and do everything to resolve all issues. All checks take 7 days and may be longer with holiday mail. PayPal is the fastest. After we receive and test the items we send the funds to the PayPal email address provided.
I am very unsatisfied with what I received for the $109 calculator I sent them, I didnt even get enough for a good burger in return.
Nothing wrong with at all, no stickers, names, scratches. I only used it on tests, during class I just used the grapher on my ipad. So I used the one I sent them like about a dozen days total.
But they are no different than the book store which sells you $200 bucks, and buys them back from you for $3 at semester end. Or game stop that sells you $40 games, and buys them back from you for $0.50.
Same deal with pawn shops.
The big differece is that if you feel insulted by the offers you get from your bookstore or game stop, you can just put away what you brought them and be on your way.
With these guys, you have to pay them to get your item back or you dont get them back period.
But I definetly admit getting jipped by them was entirely my fault, I should have seen the red flags. Wish I had found this site earlier.
I keep asking myself why I sent a calculator to some site hundreds of miles away hoping to get some money for it, when I am surrounded by potential buyers 24 seven in the dorm buildings!
My friends who were also done with financial classes simply sold their calculator on the first day of class by going to the math lecture hall before classes began and asking student by student if they wanted to buy it. They got $75 and $90 bucks for theirs, but the $90 bucks was for the silver edition not the regular 83 plus.
And me? By then, I had already spent what I received from sellyourcalculators.com at the parking meter that same day.
And I also want to apply this review to texas instruments, those calculators do not cost much to make now, you can already get a cheap tablet for 100 bucks, why is that their calculators which have not changed much in the last 20 years still cost 100+ bucks?
We value all customers and do everything to resolve all issues. All items are inspected thoroughly and several times. Although an item may look new, the screen can have damage upon further inspection. The screen must be faded dark and then back to light to see if one spot of the screen is becoming darker than the rest. If so, this means that there are Dead Pixels and the screen could go out at any time. Furthermore, all keys must be test. If a key is not working that usually means something was spilled on the item. For first time users, we send the item back for FREE. If an item is not in the condition the seller stated, we ALWAYS send a REQUOTE that the seller can accept or decline through email. If they decline and they are a first time user we just send the items back. If they were ALL greatly MISGRADED meaning they were all selected as MINT and they were all POOR then we ask for the seller to pay for the shipping both ways as stated in our polices because we paid our inspectors to inspect unusable calculators and the seller did not even try to grade them.
