I've created 27 projects over the past 15 years on Shutterfly. This includes 15 different photo books. Each and every time, I've always received excellent, professional customer service and beautiful books. I custom design all my books. There may have been a couple of times over the years that I needed Shutterfly to help with a mistake. However, they stand behind there products 100%. If you aren't an experienced design person then ask for help. Use high quality photos! Remember Shutterfly didn't take the pictures. The photo quality of books and cards depend on what you upload. Low quality photos will create poor quality projects; so don't blame Shutterfly for your photos. They will make what you approve. Start your project early enough to allow for help and receive book in ample time in case the book or cards need to be possibly replaced if it's the direct fault of Shutterfly.
I ordered three photo books. The order was processed, they gave me a delivery date and then only one book came in the mail. No explanation- I figured it was an error and called customer service. I was told that it would come in two shipments---Why? This makes no sense and was a huge inconvenience. Now I see all the complaints I understand this is not a one off. I will not use them again. Way too expensive for such poor service!
I spent over two hours creating my order to only have the coupon not work. Once I uploaded my pictures I could only see a few at a time while making my project even though I added tons. Website is very confusing and hard to use. You should be able to crop pictures and edit way more like adding a text box to whatever page you want.
They're prices are incredible until you go to check out and realize the shipping cost more than the actual items. I have prints and a dog tag in my cart right now and it says $50.00 for shipping. Yeahhh right..
My Christmas card order is lost. It has traveled from Illinois, to New York, to Ohio and back to New York. Tracking no longer shows where it is. I've tried to get Shutterfly to resend the order. Their standard response now is that shipping is slow this year. I can wait 2 more weeks (after Christmas) and call back and ask for a refund. I'll never make the mistake of ordering from them again. Meanwhile I've placed a new order with Vistaprint.
I have ordered calendars and other items from Shutterfly in the past and was pleased with the products I received. I ordered 2 books as Christmas gifts one was $84 and the other $48. The $84 book arrived first. I was so disappointed and angry with the quality of the book that I am embarrassed to give it as a gift. I kept getting changing delivery dates every day for the second book which was ordered the same day. I had to send another gift to the person for fear of not having the book in time to mail it. It finally arrived same poor quality and had a torn page. Save yourself the money and anguish of dealing with this company.
I trusted Shutterfly to print a photo book for an important special event. I paid extra for expedited shipping to make sure that the book arrived on time. The delivery date was promised to be yesterday but the tracking still says it is awaiting pickup. I called yesterday and was assured it was shipped and on its way. I called today and spent an hour on the phone only to be disconnected. The representative didn't call back to continue assisting in resolving the issue. I called again this afternoon and after 45 minutes on the phone I was told it must be lost in shipping and would have to be reprinted. The new delivery date is after the date of the big event. Very disappointed in Shutterfly and will be using a different company for future orders.

Cards did not ship as promised and expected delivery is 11 days past the promised date now. Even though they are flagged as shipped, the expected delivery is 7-10 days for each individual greeting card? I suspect they are only saying they're shipped to avoid cancellation. Will never use again.
We have been using Shutterfly for our holiday cards several years in a row. I enjoyed the card making experience and the picture looked nice on the card. However, this year, I was surprised by the poor quality of the standard cardstock. I believe this is the same paper I ordered the previous year but the quality had just gone down significantly. It's just rough and flat. It looks cheap. Also, I had decided to splurge for a liner... only to find out that I had to stuff the liner inside my 50 envelopes myself! After paying over $100 for my 50 holiday cards. Seriously?
I received 3 of the 4 items I ordered timely, all ordered on Nov. 29,2020. The 4th item was 'shipped' on Dec. 5. A LIE. Online CHAT said it would be here before Xmas. A LIE. She said she'd credit my account $15, a LIE as of 12-26. According to USPS tracking, "Pre-shipment info; AWAITING ITEM" (from Shutterfly). Will contact credit card company for a credit.
I must say they offered to redo the book made with downloaded Christmas photos when it came out obviously way too dark. But the next one was as dark or darker. It was as tho the machine accepting was on a different setting or in the old days of developing I would say the chemicals needed changing. In my photo I have added you can see the original photo as an example on the right and the way it turned out on the cover of the book side by side. Second photo, the original sent is on the left and the book's photo on the book page on the right. I sent more examples to them and discussed it on the phone with them to no avail. In the past I had been very satisfied. What has changed?
Really? You just delete all memories for individuals that were your customers? They should have had a button on those emails warning of the deletion of files that their customers had to click on to acknowledge that they got the damn message. Then if certain customers had not responded, they could have done a little more to reach out to them, money grubbing capitalist pigs

Had to chase my Christmas card order down. Already 4 days late. Now promise to deliver 5 days from now - should not take 18 days to get Christmas cards. Shutterfly is unwilling to give me a full refund. Will never use them again. They charged my credit card $120 and I still have not Christmas cards. They have lost a customer in me.
Tip for consumers:
Continue to track your order - they do not communicate that there is a problem.

I ordered my Christmas Cards from Shutterfly on November 28th, 2020. I received an email on 11-30 that the shipping label had been created and the package would be delivered between 12-3 and 12-7. The next update was from 12-4 saying that USPS was still waiting to receive the item from Shutterfly. That was the last update that was received. 2 weeks have passed (today is now 12-18), I have not received my order and am not able to log a complaint or seek a refund with Shutterfly because their wait times online and by phone always number greater than 100 people waiting.
If you receive a promo code for a "free" anything from Shutterfly, beware that the promo code will likely not work and when you spend all your time uploading and cropping photos for the new free calendar before you realize that once in your Cart, it will say the promo code has expired, prior to the actual given expiration date. And, after more time spent with the online assistant, who said to try the promo code and it would work, it still did not work, after several tries and closing the Cart and trying again several times. FYI shipping and handling is not included with the "free" calendar regardless, so you pay over $8 for the free calendar if you are fortunate enough to get the promo code to deliver the promised free item.
I uploaded 5 X 7 and 8 X 10 scanned photos at high resolution of 1600dpi. I purchased ten 11 X 14 prints. I threw every last one out. All of the prints looked like I was looking through a fish tank of water. Totally useless prints and a waste of $100. I cannot believe a company like this could stay in business with such horrible quality prints. This was my first purchase from them and now it is my last.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use if you want good quality large prints.

CAVEAT EMPTOR (BUYER BEWARE)...Costco should be ashamed to joint venture with these people. I blew $40 on prints that were so blurred, they were unusable. After 45 mins on the phone, the "hard to understand" foreign representative, informed me that they could only give me a credit for the prints...not the expensive shipping. If there was a 0 star review, it would be my score.
Order taken and $$ paid on November 29,2020. Order in system December 3,2020. After that, radio silence and no viable or reasonable way to contact them. Emails and phone calls have not been addressed. It is December 22,2020 and I am asking for a full refund. It was declined as the cards are in the system - I might get the cards by December 24th. Not reasonable and actually shameful in 2020. They are keeping my funds and think that is okay.
I am EXTREMELY upset with my photo book. First of all I ordered this book as a gift and it came in a Shutterfly box which gave away the gift when my husband checked the mail! Couldnt you be a little more discreet? Secondly when my children gave my husband his Fathers Day present, as he opened it, the pages were coming out of the binding! Not only was this embarrassing but it was upsetting as well to all of us. Now I have to tape it or something. And not to mention that their site is so bad to use! Its not user friendly and their tools are so outdated. I spent an entire day and night making this book and it arrived as trash. This is completely unacceptable!
The price advertised for is generally not the price you'll be paying. Then they don't let you combine discounts like 40%off a regular item and free shipping when you reach a certain price. Total scam.
I use to use Shutterfly for Christmas cards, photos, & calendars every year and loved them. Since December of 2020 they SUCK! I use to have no problems making calendars for x-mas gifts and now it is impossible. I spend hours making it & it won't save or it is added to the cart and then vanishes. So sick of this crap & now done with this website. SAD... don't know what happened!
Customer service is awful! Placed an order, noticed something was off with the order after receiving the confirmation email. Messages through the chat option and asked if they could check if my image actually loaded. With no given reason my order was cancelled. The chat was ended immediately with no response as to why. I entered the chat again and let the next agent know what just happened and they ended the chat abruptly. They stink, will never use Shutterfly again.
I ordered 130 pictures, 4x6 mate finish, they came really fast and they kept me up to date everyday to see where my order was at. The picture came and the quality is just amazing! I really wanted to write this review because I'm just amazed by this company! I also ordered a key chain it's just perfect! I totally recommend Shutterfly to everyone that want something custom!
Beautiful pic of my wife and new granddaughter, no grand daughter.
Good shot of whole family on first page was repeated in pixelated mush on last page. Ordered soft cover, came as hard cover.
Not using this ever and not reccomending to anyone.

All the prices have increased during Black Friday sale of their products and they are giving 50% off everything.
The cost of hard cover for photo book usually $10 is now $20. Cost of standard lay flat usually $25 is $30. Even cost of additional pages for photo book is doubled f and they claim to offer a 50% off Black Friday deal.
They cheat customers. Watch out.
The website and app did not state anywhere the currency. I assumed it was in my currency which is cad. I also noticed that my shutterfly order was about $5 more than my local Walmart but I decided to order anyways. I got an email confirmation after paying that also did not show the currency. I paid $18. Days later, I check my credit card statement and I was charged $28 for a few prints that were already overpriced to begin with. I probably paid $15 more than I needed to for. Waste of money.
I ordered 80 holiday cards and envelopes from Shutterfly. I intended to have both addressees and the return address shown on the envelopes but made a mistake. I spent 39 minutes on the phone with a Shutterfly rep and she refused to let me order corrected envelopes. Shutterfly insisted that I spend another $200 for new cards in order to get corrected envelopes. I will never do business with them again.
A terrible terrible company.
