I've created 27 projects over the past 15 years on Shutterfly. This includes 15 different photo books. Each and every time, I've always received excellent, professional customer service and beautiful books. I custom design all my books. There may have been a couple of times over the years that I needed Shutterfly to help with a mistake. However, they stand behind there products 100%. If you aren't an experienced design person then ask for help. Use high quality photos! Remember Shutterfly didn't take the pictures. The photo quality of books and cards depend on what you upload. Low quality photos will create poor quality projects; so don't blame Shutterfly for your photos. They will make what you approve. Start your project early enough to allow for help and receive book in ample time in case the book or cards need to be possibly replaced if it's the direct fault of Shutterfly.
I ordered three photo books. The order was processed, they gave me a delivery date and then only one book came in the mail. No explanation- I figured it was an error and called customer service. I was told that it would come in two shipments---Why? This makes no sense and was a huge inconvenience. Now I see all the complaints I understand this is not a one off. I will not use them again. Way too expensive for such poor service!
Very poor quality. 100% satisfaction guaranteed is not accurate. Very frustrating. WISH I had read these review BEFORE I spent my $$.
Told my order was 'lost' after website kept changing delivery day as well as carriers from UPS, to USPS to Ontrac! Worse yet, they will show fictitious nonsensical package tracking updates, eg. Package generated in Vancouver at 9:02pm, appearing in Chandler AZ at 8:55pm & back to Vancouver at 8:54pm. I have been told different stories by 4 different CS agents: "It will arrive today." "It is running late" "It was delivered already" and finally "It appears to be lost" I am awaiting a replacement order that so far has the same ridiculous fictitious tracking. The best part is I only had to pay once for this order I know I will never receive. Btw, no one who works there knows who the CEO is or who to turn to for help. The lost photos were personal, sentimental and time sensitive for a gift. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM SHUTTERFLY. There are reputable sites out there - better yet, take your photos on a chip to Target or Walmart. At least then you know WHO is viewing your photos and you keep control of them, get them immediately and will save yourself the hours of frustration.
I was first 'introduced' to Shutterfly through an internet search for wedding save the dates. Because I was a bride on a very strict budget, I took advantage of the promotion they were having at that time. My save the dates were beautiful and they came on time. So I ordered from them again because I got another promotion for some free cards so I decided to use it to get the Thank You cards for the wedding. Needless to say the cards were beautiful and I got the cards in a timely fashion... Because I ordered so much through them I was able to get a discount on a photo album. I made the album and made some mistakes by duplicating a couple of the pictures a couple of times, so this is why I didn't give them 5 stars because they should've caught that and asked me about it so that I could've corrected it... but none the less I was happy with the album... so fast forward a couple of years ( I got married in 2014)... I recently took advantage of their Leap Year offer for free frig magnets. I ordered 4 of them on Feb. 29th. I was told that they wouldn't arrive until March 16th. I couldn't quite understand why so long, but I wasn't in a rush so it really didn't matter. But I received my magnets yesterday and they are wonderful. I have nothing but good to say about Shutterfly.
Now let me say this, I didn't know anything about Sitejabber before I ordered from them and I'm kind of glad that I didn't because I wouldn't have ordered the things that I needed for my wedding from them. I'm not sure why so many bad reviews, but unless something changes down the line with my ordering I am a loyal customer.
I had a 52 page hardback book made for my wife's birthday.
One of the photos of her was printed in the book, without her head!
Wrong cards sent and they refused to make it right. They wanted to charge $40 more for same order. Never order again!
Constantly losing orders. Claim they send them with FedEx & ups with tracking. Strange, both ups & FedEx say these #s r invalid & or do not exist.
Shutterfly put a hold on 200 dollars from my account on charges they declined it been 2 weeks and the charges are still pending on my account
I ordered a book for someone's wedding and it was easy to create, fun to work on and came out GREAT! I will use them again

The app is terrible especially for creating photobooks. It removes pictures and textboxes at random.

It is 7:21 pm here, Black Friday. When I tried to use your code BLKFRIDAY I am told that it has expired. I went back to the front page and it says that code is good through Sat.

They falsify promos, lead the buyer down a path of unexpected costs, add hidden fees, and are just terrible.

Shutterfly's customer service is terrible and their system is absolute crap! I ordered a living social deal for a calendar. As it turns out, I couldn't apply the deal to the calendar I created because it was an 18 month and not a 12 month like the deal was for (in the fine print said it could apply towards a different size, so naturally I thought I could apply it to a different month range). I called customer service. The RUDEST girl answered and pretty much told me "too bad, make a 12 month calendar instead." She didn't try to make things right or anything. She didn't even ask my name when she picked up and just sounded irritated the entire time. I got off the phone and tried to save my calendar as a 12 month calendar so I could use the stupid deal, but I wanted to save the 18 month calendar in case I decided to buy it in the future because I had put so much time into it. All the other times I've changed the calendar and then saved it, a save option window pops up giving the option to save changes to the current calendar or save to a new calendar. I thought changing it from 18 month to 12 month would give me the same option, but it didn't! Instead, it overrode my original calendar, deleted the 6 extra months, and changed ALL the fonts back to default. I called customer service again and felt completely panicked that I had lost all of my work and was thinking that they had some cache or backup or something of my account information that would allow them to retrieve my original calendar and they pretty much said "No, no way to retrieve anything. Too bad, you'll just have to redo it". Well too bad for you that I'll never give you business ever again. Shutterfly SUCKS! I spent weeks on that calendar just because I had that promo and now all I have is a bitter heartache about my lost calendar and the lack of care and respect that Shutterfly has for their customers. It's obvious that Shutterfly doesn't give a rat's *** about the time and energy that their customers expend on these creations.
