I've created 27 projects over the past 15 years on Shutterfly. This includes 15 different photo books. Each and every time, I've always received excellent, professional customer service and beautiful books. I custom design all my books. There may have been a couple of times over the years that I needed Shutterfly to help with a mistake. However, they stand behind there products 100%. If you aren't an experienced design person then ask for help. Use high quality photos! Remember Shutterfly didn't take the pictures. The photo quality of books and cards depend on what you upload. Low quality photos will create poor quality projects; so don't blame Shutterfly for your photos. They will make what you approve. Start your project early enough to allow for help and receive book in ample time in case the book or cards need to be possibly replaced if it's the direct fault of Shutterfly.
I ordered three photo books. The order was processed, they gave me a delivery date and then only one book came in the mail. No explanation- I figured it was an error and called customer service. I was told that it would come in two shipments---Why? This makes no sense and was a huge inconvenience. Now I see all the complaints I understand this is not a one off. I will not use them again. Way too expensive for such poor service!
Offer is large bold orange letters said SAVE 40% ON EVERYTHING.
There were no exceptions listed. When I called customer service to inquire I was told it applied to products, not everything(gift certificates) like I was an idiot. A better ad may have said 40% off all products.
After an hour of putting together a calendar and note pads, i discovered that none of the prices were applicable since i was lured in with their "discount promotion". BUYER BEWARE, THIS COMPANY IS A BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY. WHEN YOU CHECK OUT, ALL SALE PRICES GO TO FULL RETAIL BEFORE THE PROMO IS APPLYING, WIPING OUT YOUR SAVINGS. POSTAGE ALSO DOUBLED.
When the product ordered does (eventually) arrive, the quality is decent. However, if you experience trouble with your order, or it is lost, good luck getting a customer representative!
What was once the best is now the worst. It's sad to see what has happened to Shutterfly. I began using them when they acquired Kodak Gallery, which produced far superior prints to what you could get at Walmart or CVS. But over the last two years, the service has deteriorated. First, they stopped sending you prints in any kind of order, which meant you had to re-sort all the prints Prior to mounting them in a photo album by using the print number and date on the back. Then, about a month ago, they stopped putting that information on the back of prints, even though, when you order prints, it still appears that they do. At the same time, the quality of the prints went way down, to the point where an ink jet printer can do a better job. On my latest order, which I simply tossed into the trash, the bright, clear faces are muddled, while my night shots, clear and black on my computer, are riddled with white dots. I sent the same batch of photos to Google, which is even cheaper, and the difference is astounding, although Google doesn't offer the glossy print option I prefer. I'm trying out various other services that might be more expensive, but Shutterfly prints, sadly, are so bad right now that I wouldn't even take them for free.

I used to order hundreds of prints a month from this company
I have ordered several prints ranging from 4x6,5x7, and 8x10's. I've even ordered canvas prints. One one such occasion I ordered a canvas print and received it with a cut in the middle of it. I called customer service and she quickly took care of it. They sent me another one no questions asked. Now if you like saving money and get several shutterfly cards, they have started restricting how many you can use and how many discounts you can get at one time! This really sucks as they used to not limit and I saved tons of money. Not such the case now...
Don't be fooled by the fake advertising before Christmas. I just submitted an oprder with the promise of expedited shipping, only to find out they can't do it b/c they have too many orders. This is my last order with $#*!tyfly! DON"T USE SHUTTERFLY IF YOU THKNK YOU"RE GETTING A PROMO
Shutterfly makes use of endless promotions because they need massive numbers of people to look through their site. They obviously operate on the concept of the more people who look, at least a few will be foolish enough to let themselves be ripped off.
They love to get involved with promotions in which they give something for "free" -- but the offer is never free, it's filled with service charges, handling charges, you name it they'll find a way to charge you for it. The latest is a national MONOPOLY promotion. When I saw they were part of it, it was time to WARN YOU ALL.
Don't fall for their schemes. DO NOT use them for ANYTHING. Just save yourself a lot of aggravation and lost money and LEAVE THEIR SITE. You will be much better off for having done so.
So i ordered a personalized notebook printed My Family Pictures there! First week of august! And shipped around august 9! Estimated delivery 8-25-16
So I think that my item will be delivered that time eventhough The estimated delivery is so long, and now as i remember last week that my order is not yet delivered! I emailed them and they telling me my item is considered "Lost" so what to do! They gonna just re order it again and me to wait for almost a month again? Not anymore it's almost my hubby's bday and that gift is not yet delivered! No need for that! So piss off and super dissapointed with this company! Not ever again!
My wife orders a $92.24 set of Christmas cards, and gets a message that it's supposed to be delivered 12/6 by UPS. She contacts Shutterfly support on 12/8, and they then say it's USPS, and says "you'll just have to wait until 12/10." So, she does, and contacts them back. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT IS LOST.
SUPPORT HAD HER IN TEARS. It's our first Christmas cards as newlyweds. As her husband, my goal is to protect and keep her happy, SO I CALL SHUTTERFLY.
When I ask for management, I'm hung up on, after that 312 (yes, over 3 hundred) minute wait to get to a front line agent... Chat support also disconnected on me TWICE when asking for a manager.
THEN they went BEHIND MY BACK, back to my wife, to try to not talk to me.
NEVER AGAIN will this family use Shutterfly. I am NOT going away until someone answers for this.
Free prints but shipping comes up to more than 20 cents a print so its cheaper to go to shoppers or costco. If you live in canada promos on shipping and others don't work.
I ordered a calendar (3 copies). The printed version mistakenly did not include several items that I put in the online version. Shutterfly would not replace the bad calendars for free. I will never do business with them again.
Here is their silly official customer support's response:
We realize that this is an inconvenience and would like to present the following alternatives for your consideration:
1) We can add a 50% off list price discount to your account and when you place your next order, the credit will apply to the cart.
2) We would be glad to insert a gift certificate for $20.00 and you can keep the product with you. Here is more information about the Shutterfly gift certificate:
1. It does not have an expiration date.
2. It can be used against any expense in your account.
3. You can use it against multiple orders.
4. Available value of the gift certificate would apply at Checkout.
3) If you prefer a refund, please return the calendar to us. We would be glad to process a refund for 50% of the order value. Refunds are typically credited back to your credit card within 7-10 business days.
I have used Shutterfly for many years and have multiple books I made using their service. They have given my family great pleasure. With the advent of iPhones, my Nikon 6000 became obsolete. After many years, I was asked to take pictures of my grown family at a recent event. The pictures turned out wonderful and books were requested. I went to Shutterfly as I have done so many times in the past. It took two days to be able to get a new user name and password (my old one were not recognized). I uploaded my photographs and tried to create a new photo book. What was a snap 10 years age was impossible now. The algorithm used by the app automatically placed all the uploaded photos into the book completely random. Editing the book was impossible. I am not a computer wiz but I'm not stupid either. I tried multiple time to place the photographs where I wanted them but finally had to give up. It's such a shame that something that was so much fun to use has been completely ruined. I will go to another site and will not return to Shutterfly. I suggest anyone reading this go elsewhere as well. There must be a better way.
They have no disclaimers or information that pops up on why a perfectly good promo is being denied. I had $25.00 off ANY shutterfly product, OR a free 8x8 photobook. So, I said $25 if better than the $14.99 value of the 8x8 book and made a 10x10. Of course it only took $16.89 off the total cost. It kept defaulting to the 8x8 coupon, which makes no sense how that is applicable, because it wasn't an 8x8, it was a 10x10. I am currently on hour 6 or dealing with their customer service. They are offering a free 10x10 book, (which I'd still have to pay them shipping, taxes, and a covid charge) so I dont want that. I want the $25 discount, and the stupid 20% discount they were offering that day, and then took 3 hours to make the book. This is robbing peoppe blind, and they make it difficult to get your money back by having horrible customer service. I will never ever purchase from them again. I wish I could give zero stars.
Sadly to say this is not a company I will do business with again, there are many other competitors willing and able to complete orders with a more desirable outcome. I cannot complain about the quality of their work due to the fact that it seems my photo book will be "in production" until the second coming of Christ... Bad news bears for Christmas gift giving. The customer service is as good and polite as it can be with hundreds of other dissatisfied customers this holiday season, however like all companies they are trained to avoid the topic of a negative outcome until the last minute when no other arrangements can be made. Very sad, but such is the way of things these days where this company is concerned. As I'm sure this will not be shared on the reviews section of their official website, as it is not a glowing review... I will have to forward it along as a warning to all those thinking of doing business with this company. Perhaps they will hold up to their offer to do a full refund and send the book upon its completion, perhaps not, we'll see.
I have ordered from Shutterfly for 20 years, and I am so disappointed in their service. I ordered my holiday cards on 11/30, paid rush shipping, and was told to expect them on December 8th. I have checked my order status every day since December 8th, and it has the same message "carrier received, awaiting scan". When I click through on the UPS website, UPS says "When the shipment arrives at our facility the delivery date will be updated." I have been on the chat three times (estimated wait 15 minutes each time) - completely worthless. I tried to call but the wait time was 174 minutes. DO NOT ORDER - YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR CARDS. They will not let you cancel your cards either, as they keep telling me they have been shipped. So incredibly frustrating!
Totally ruined my wedding. Invitations were ordered but never received. Still have not been refunded and am still battling with customer service. Do NOT use this company.
Trying to make a photo book and spent hours uploading pics. All the pictures disappeared and I'm left with nothing for my time. Shutterfly is a disaster.

none. Attempted to create a photo book and they lost all the pics and I was unable to complete the book.
In the past, I have completed several puzzles. I received this 520 Fathers Day Puzzle. After I completed the puzzle and sealed and framed it with puzzle glue. Conclusion: The print on the puzzle separates from the thin puzzle paper and the photo picture is full of colored lines where the color is separated from the paper. I called the Shutterfly people because I was not the original purchase but a Father Day Gift they would not honor my complaint. Two days work for a piece of junk. Save your money stay away CUSTOMER SERVICE AWFUL.

STAY AWAY SHUTTERFLY

I spent so much money on prints, sent in HD quality pictures and received absolute garbage it's so blurry that walmart fast prints would have done a better job. It also took over 2 weeks for them to ship it. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!
I purchased an ornament and used high resolution photos when I created it, and when the ornament came, the photos were blurry and distorted. I contacted customer service, and accepted a refund in the form of a credit to order another ornament.I was told the reason why it was fuzzy is because they have an automatic enhancement feature built into their creation system, and that you can turn this off, but for some reason it was not able to be done for the item that I purchased. I contacted a representative before placing my new order, and asked them to help me with this, and I was told that he was able to turn off the auto enhancement feature for me, and that this should not happen again with the new order. I recieved the new ornament, and it looks exactly like the previous one, distorted, fuzzy, terrible. I have experience working with photos, and understand that the quality of the photos matter whcih is why I was sure to choose images that were taken professionally and had a high resolution to them to avoid any issues. At this point, I will be keeping the terrible quality ornament, but will be looking elsewhere to purchase an ornament in future years. I wish shutterfly was what it was 20 years ago.

I ordered Christmas cards with expedited shipping and haven't received my package. It was supposed to be delivered on December 14 with +2 days, which I was 100% okay with. It's now the 22nd and I still haven't received it and when I asked for a refund on shipping ONLY, because I still wanted the cards, despite them not getting there in time, they told me I would need to wait until I received it before I could get a refund and then I would need to return the all the cards, too. So, it's still shipping somewhere, and there's hardly any tracking on it. I know and understand it's a busy time of year, but I'm frustrated that they never showed up and aren't on any updates on where they're at
I decided to order my annual photo book and Christmas cards in 2020 from them after receiving a coupon in the mail, rather than using my normal printing service. The book itself was pretty "meh" and the cards were fairly nice but what irked me happened before I ever got my book.
It was very obvious from the tracking information that my package had gotten lost. It was going in circles back and forth across the country daily. The book had shipped before the cards from the same order and I received the cards quickly after they left Shutterfly so I was getting worried about my book. I called into Shutterfly to ask what carrier service they use so I could contact them directly (obviously, Shutterfly isn't going to know what shenanigans the carrier service is dealing with.) The person on the other end absolutely freaked out at me, going on about how they're refusing to do refunds and no one is getting refunds and how I'll have my book in time (how could they know that?) and would not calm down. I tried reiterating that I only wanted to know which carrier service they used, that I was neither looking for nor expecting a refund, and that I was not upset with Shutterfly. They continued with their rant until abruptly hanging up.
I might not have been upset with Shutterfly before that call but I certainly was afterwards! I will never give them my money again.
Tip for consumers:
My tip is don't use them. I have gone back to my preferred printer after giving Shutterfly a chance. I'll happily pay more money than use a mailer coupon code and get treated that way over products I wasn't as impressed by.

I ordered photos that had a digital immage from lifetouch I was supposed to see that immage on Shutterfly but lifetouch had ordering problems apperantly maybe Shutterfly should drop lifetouch because lifetouch is bringing them and their name down. After I tried to purchase my photos lifetouch tried and they still didn't get ordered
I placed my order 12/6 for delivery 12/20, then on 12/18 I receive notice that I will not have delivery until after Christmas! I called and they said I have to receive delivery, then return it for any type of refund. WHAT A JOKE!
I âme out $167...HAVE NO CARDS...and here it is Christmas in 5 days.
I WISH COSTCO KEPT THE PHOTO SHOP! I WISH THEY DID NOT REFER IT ALL TO SHUTTERFLY! Shutterfly did not comply and they are crooks!
I had to put one star but if there were a negative star option, I would have chosen the most negative option possible!
