I am on a drug that Aetna has covered that is extremely expensive. They notified me that they would not be covering this though it was on their formulary - you needed to argue an exception. My doctor contacted them. They told his assistant that we could not submit an exception request until it was actually rejected. This of course is a power play since you have literally days of medication on hand when you are allowed to get the next supply. I then claimed the next month, it was accepted, and then I got another notification letter that this was the last time they'd pay. We contacted them again - they claimed to need other information this time that was no where to be found on any record (a "policy" number on top of a "member" number). My agent got the run around. We are working through my agent but I am running out of medication now and they are trying to back me into a corner. I recommend that everyone complains to "CMS" (ask your agent) about Aetna. They are crooks. This process is designed to slow you down and give up.
