If you have an alternative, take it. Customer service is staffed by overseas call centers that basically function like robots – they know nothing except what they read from a screen. When I got through to a U.S. representative, they were no better. That included one rep who was so indifferent to his work that he didn't even speak into his phone correctly and I couldn't understand what he was saying. None of the representatives would give me an address to which I could write with a complaint.
After I wrote to the Social Security Administration's Center for Medicare and Medicaid services I received a letter from someone who appeared to be a third-party letter-writer. Nothing in his phone or correspondence indicated he worked for SS. He was so ashamed of his work he wouldn't even sign his name to it, his form letter invited me to call to discuss but he never picked up the phone or returned voicemail messages, and he told me I had a right to appeal but never gave me an to which I could take that appeal.
Finally I got connected to a supervisor who, in a conference call with one of the robots, told the robot to fix my problem, and as soon as the supervisor was off the call the representative disconnected.
To me It's astounding that SS even holds an appointment as a Medicare Part D provider. Paying a higher premium elsewhere will be cheaper in the long run.
I had knee replacement surgery and needed Eliquis to prevent blood clots. Aetna would not cover the $500 plus charge for 2 pills a day for 21 days. I was told I had not met my deductible. 8 weeks later, I am having knee replacement surgery for my other knee. AGAIN Aetna would not cover. Thankfully the pharmacy suggested using a GoodRX coupon which brought it down both times to $380. When I called Aetna for clarification, I was told that since I used a coupon, the other $380 out of pocket expense could not go towards my deductible. What a scam! The low premiums will never match the poor service. My advise...don't ever enroll in Aetna SilverScrpt drug plan. There's a reason it is inexpensive.
I am a member of Aetna Silverscript and have been covered since January 2023. Unfortunately my Cardiologist needed to change one of my blood pressure medications (Amlodipine) from 5mg to 7.5mg which seems to better regulate my hypertension. Unfortunately, there is no pharmacy that makes a 7.5mg dosage. The best way to get to that amount is to combine a 5mg dose with a 2.5mg dose requiring 2 prescriptions for the same drug. Silverscript's process does not allow for this and kicks the 2.5mg dose to an exception and refuses to fill the prescription unless they can contact my prescriber. They will never be able to call and be able to contact him because he is a busy doctor and when I explain the problem, they will not take my explanation and instead requires my prescriber contact them which will never happen. Why should Aetna question my doctors recommended medication dosage? I will be changing my prescription provider as soon as possible because they have forced me to get a 10mg dosage and split it into 3 sections. One 5mg and 2 2.5mg. I wish I could give them 0 stars as that is the amount of concern they have for my health!
I paid for this every month for a year. Biggest waste of my money. They covered NOTHING! Do not get fooled. Get the "Good RX" app and get their discount card. Absolutely free. They saved me so much money where as this Aetna Slilver Script just stole my money! Do not bother with this rip off organization. They should be investigated for stealing from the elderly! I haven't bothered with a review in a long time, but I took the time to look them up. They are predators! Don't waste your time and DONOT let them steal from you. This organization is has lost all credibility. The monthly payment I paid may as well have been flushed, I didn't even get reduced rates. " Good RX" card did so much more. The government should shut " silver script" down as a total fraud!
Made an appointment for myself and my husband to get the new RSV vaccine at CVS. He has Wellcare and they covered his. I was told Aetna Silverscript does not and it would cost me over $300.I declined the vaccine and came home to do a little research. The ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) has recommended RSV be covered in full with no copay or deductible; like flu or COVID. The Inflation Reduction act of 2022 requires these to be free. So I call Silverscript and inquire and was told I had to pay for it out of pocket under my deductible. I know this isn't true and tried to state the facts and the rep actually hung up on me. I later called back and talked to someone else who agreed it is now covered, but it wouldn't be until the end of September that AETNA would have it in their system. Why so long when other plans are already able to do it? I think I will be looking for a new plan next year.
I wish 0 stars was an option. I scheduled an RSV vaccine at my pharmacy, but Aetna/SilverScript wanted me to pay $131.98, with a $68.44 deductible despite the RSV vaccine being covered by Medicare at no cost to individuals over 60. A Medicare rep confirmed that there should be no cost to me for the vaccine under current law. I contacted SilverScript's Customer Service phone # and was told that the RSV vaccine is NOT covered, because SilverScript had not yet updated their system, but they might have it updated by Sept 1,2023. Since the no-cost coverage has been in effect since the beginning of 2023 under the Inflation Reduction Act, I can't imagine what they are doing, other than collecting $$ from their customers (certainly not upgrading their chat bot to understand the spoken word, but that's another story). I switched to Aetna/SilverScript after my prior Part D carrier increased the monthly premium by 50% despite my never having filed a claim. I definitely will be dropping Aetna/SilverScript for 2024. Buyer beware!
I have called 6 times to get a paper premium statement for how much I have paidmonthly for service every time they tell me it's mailed will take 14 days to get here well over a month almost 2 months no statement have talked to supervisor 3 times still no statement I would not advise anyone to get their service they can't fax or even email anything sounds fishy to me
I wish I had checked these reviews before I signed up for this plan. Denials and no coverage all tear long. Cant wait to change plans SOON.
I signed up for Silverscript and pay $8.00 monthly. I bought one round of prescriptions and my health maintenance drugs were $325 per quarter. If I switch to Good RX at Publix my cost drops to $209. I ran a spreadsheet with the cost of drugs from Silverscript / CVS then Good RX/ Publix and added a third column and selected the cheapest by prescription and dropped my cost per quarter to $175.38. I have three prescriptions on Silverscript at CVS, moved the balance to Publix and use good RX. CVS hardly supports Good RX at all since they are in a joint venture with Aetna on prescription drugs. Here is my take away;
Silverscript alone is not as good as Good RX
Looking up each drug and finding best prices can dramatically slash drug costs.
Do not expect the folks at CVS to tell you that you can do better.
Publix was able to apply some coupons to help me save more.
A drugstore that is also in the prescription card business is a red flag if you want low cost.
My next tile around I am moving my CVS scripts to Walmart. Same price, but after seeing the bigger picture on the price structure with Silverscript I found CVS no longer my go to place.
I use two pharmacies to simplify which scripts go to good Rx and which go to Silverscript.
My next step is to look at new prescription plans. Silverscript is a pathetic plan and I am certain there are more savings.
I highly recommend creating a spreadsheet to log in the script cost with plan and with Good RX, it is an eye opener.
Be aware, they will cover for a certain amount and then your on your own. My prescription costs double and tripled after a few months. Stay away from these crooks.
I was comparing Medicare Prescription D plans, in December 2022, because my current plan wasn't going to cover my medications. Aetna SilverScript, as listed on the Medicare website, showed they covered & would continue covering my medications throughout the 2023 policy year. So, I switched to them. 01/02/2023, I received a letter from the stating 3 of my 4 medications was no longer on their formulary (list) and they'd do a one month courtesy fill, but I'd need to contact my doctor for different medications. That was the whole point of switching to them, so apparently they lied to Medicare, and me. In the middle of February, I had to call and request an insurance card, because they hadn't sent one, nor any insurance information. They mailed a card, but I've never received any booklets.
Regarding the billing problems:
Late December 2022, I received a letter confirming my new coverage and a bill for the annual premium, and if not paid by Jan. 1st, coverage would be denied. So, I paid it, despite social security being authorized to deduct the premiums from my benefit checks. In February, SSA started deducting the premiums. In April, I received a refund from Aetna for the amount I overpaid, minus the 1st January payment. Late-May of 2023, I received a bill equivalent to 6.42 months premiums, due by June 1st, or coverage will end. Meanwhile, SSA has been paying them. I called Aetna about it, and they said I owed even more. The female representative's English was so broken and impossible to understand, that I asked to speak to her supervisor. After a long pause, the call was disconnected (by them). I've filed a complaint with Medicare about them. Their billing & coverage practices are borderline fraudulent. I'll be dumping them as soon as I'm allowed to. They're an awful company!
My husband and I have had Aetna SilverScript Drug Plan since 11/1/2022 when first retired. Most of our scripts should cost 6.00. We don't take very many prescriptions. It is administered by CVS Caremark and that is where I go, thinking it would alleviate issues. The first month, they tried to deny covering anything, saying they were not the "primary". After multiple phone calls and pharmacy visits, they straightened it out. Now trying to refill the same blood pressure med, (metoprolol),they are saying again that they "are not the primary insurance". CVS is no help. Had to call Aetna again and they have to talk to "their team" and get it fixed. After 20 minutes, it is fixed, for now anyway. They have no explanation for these errors and it keeps happening. Why do they think I am paying a premium for Part D?
I really feel that they think people will just give up and pay full price because of the extreme hassles. I was a hospital nurse for 26 years and I know how terrible these companies can be in denying coverage.
I will not renew with any Aetna program again. Just be forewarned! I wish someone had told me.
My Wife gets 1 medicine a 90 day supply of Sertraline 4 times a year. It used to cost 3 dollars each time. Went to pick up her script today and it was 60 dollars for a 3 month supply. They now have a Drug Deductible of 505 dollars before they will pay for it. SO that means, my wife will spend about 240.00 dollars a year and NEVER pay off her deductible. Also we pay 40.70 dollars a month to have this plan. Last year we paid 12 dollars for the whole year for her meds, and now we will have to pay about 240 dollars for her meds. That's NOT RIGHT. My Wife has been on her generic medication for 27 years, NOW SHE WANTS TO STOP TAKING HER MEDS! NO ONE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN HELP. THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO! AETNA SILVER SCRIPTS CHOICE SUCKS! They should not be in Business! MONEY HUNGRY COMPANY!
I have had Silver Script for several years and this year my copay has increased from $200 to $505! This increase is should be considered criminal considering the monthly fee they charge. My latest prescription cost has increased from in price from about $15. To over $41. Considering that Good Rx and other Non-Silver Script services would charge between $17 and $21 for the same quantity of the same generic drug without the monthly tribute to Aetna! Greed maybe considered a good thing by corporate, but not by the people who pay for their services Needless to say, the Silver Script program is not long for my world.
I have been trying to get a 90-day override of 2 meds needed to keep me alive while overseas. Declined
I was on the phone over an hour asking them to justify a payment request from them, that would only accept a check or cash...the letter wanted money, but no breakdown or documentation of the charge itself. I received one of these before and paid it, but the letter indicated that it was a rare mistake that they would correct so it wouldn't happen in the future...Well...it didn't correct anything and they won't accept a credit card payment and I've never had anyone suggest I mail cash in the mail!
I have never encountered a more frustrating experience with a company in my life. I could not understand their representatives. They were unable to understand my questions/concerns and kept putting me on a "short 2 minute wait." They did this 9 times in a row.
My issue of trying to get them to send me a monthly EOB for the premiums I automatically pay them was never resolved. As soon as Medicare open enrollment comes back around in October I will drop them as my prescription provider.!
This company is atrociously bad! Wish I could give a negative star rating
I tried to opt out of this Medicare Part D plan. I called twice and clarified that I didn't want this plan and even after they sent a letter stating that I was disenrolled, they still sent me a SS MedicareRx card stating that I was enrolled. This caused Medicare to cancel my Mutual of Omaha Rx plan. Now I have to call again and have been advised to say "cancel the plan" and demand a reference number and the name of the agent. I am livid. Stay away from SS. They don't care about the consumer, they just want to say they have a high enrollment to make Wall Street see them positively.
At the request of my pharmacy, I called customer service this morning around 8:30 am to request an override on a prescription for migraine medication. I was actively having a migraine, let that be known. I spoke with someone for almost 30 minutes. I had difficulty understanding her, because she was either located in another country, or from outside the US. She said she got my request for an override on my prescription, but the pharmacy wasn't answering her calls. I called during pharmacy hours. She said I need to call back in a few minutes. What? I argued with her that I didn't want to go through another 30 minute call. She insisted I would not have to go through the override process, as it was already approved. I immediately called my pharmacy, and they answered right away. I called Silverscript Customer service again, and got a second girl with the same difficult to understand accent, using broken English and poor grammar. After having to explain everything I already told the first girl, she said I needed to contact my doctor for emergency pills. That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard! My doctor doesn't keep this medication in her office! She then said I need to pay for it out of pocket! This medication is $165 for 8 pills! I told her that's impossible! She then said there was not an override, and she must get that from some special department. I was on hold on and off for about 20 minutes, when she said it wasn't approved. I protested, because it's only 5 days before the refill, AND Silverscript doesn't pay one cent towards this drug! Then she said I got it approved for only a 30 day supply. She asked me to hold so she could call my pharmacy. She then came back to our phone call and said she spoke to the pharmacy and I can go pick up my medication. I drove to the pharmacy on my way to a doctor's appointment. I spoke to the pharmacy tech who personally spoke to Silverscript. She said the girl from my insurance company told her she didn't know how to do an override, and ask the pharmacy to give me an override! The pharmacy tech said "you're the insurance company, I can't give an override for your company." She said she just hung up. It's now after 5:00, and my pharmacy said it finally went through for an override. I will immediately look for another insurance company! I will not do business with a company whose Customer Service are out and out liars, as both girls lied to me! This is the worse paying prescription drug plan I've ever dealt with. Don't get sucked in by low premiums! I will be filing a complaint with my State's Insurance Commissioner for dishonest practices in the insurance industry.
Answer: No answer here. Just such a telling question that I thought it deserved validation!
