I bought a Simco saddle several years ago-cost me nearly $900. I just found out that the layer the fleece is attached to is pressed paper! The company who owns and sells Simco, and other saddles now (Action Saddlery) refused to stand behind the product, was condescending, and just plain poor customer service. They told me I had a "low end" saddle---really? Low end at nearly $900!?!?! Told me it was pressed wood not paper---LOL where does paper come from(the layers are many and paper thin!)!?!?!?!? And that NO saddle was 100% leather as the trees are not leather ---duh! The saddle was advertised as 100 % leather, "Deluxe" trail saddle, bought new at Stateline tack! They also told me the saddle was already 10 years old when I bought it "new" (according to the number on the latigo catch)... You would have never noticed this as the edges of the layer are painted to deceive...
The saddle is used, and it was about 10 years ago I bought, but expected at that price it would last many more years(there are other things going wrong prematurely with this saddle too...)! I have a saddle from the 40's that is still completely rideable-I bought the Simco as the 40's saddle did not fit the horse I intended to ride. If Action Saddlery would have not been so condescending and was helpful, maybe even offering a discount on another saddle, I would not be letting the world know of this, but I was shocked at no help at all... be VERY careful what you buy and inspect to minute details! I highly recommend you do NOT buy anything marked "Simco"
