In deleting a second account, my main account was also deleted. So all my tracks (yes, I can reupload them) and all comments, plays etc. all gone. More importantly, all recent links sent to media companies, song opportunities etc. will no longer work.
Tried every way to urgently contact support, no joy. The chat window has remained open on a previous ticket (which hasn't been answered) so I can't start a new ticket. Have tried but no response. Tried Instagram, no response.
This cancellation also cancelled Next Pro but an email acknowledged that it still had months to run and had a reactivate button. The reactivate button did not work, so at this time I have a new account using the previous title, linked to the same email, but none of the previous content and no Next Pro.
Yes, I'm pi**ed off!
They take down your work if any random person decides to make a report for any reason (jealousy) and when you dispute the infringement they take no notice of the case and give you a strike on your account. Their terms state that they have a three strike policy, then they have to permanently delete your account. My account has just been deleted with only one confirmed strike and I only disputed two tracks and it was all my own work. I paid a subscription. They email me back when i complained and told me I had three strikes which is impossible after only two disputes. They show zero evidence of this. They are happy enough to take peoples money but they have zero effort when it comes to being helpful to their long serving customers. They are now bordering on being scammers really. Sad they they were once a great platform.
It's impossible to contact them about issues regarding subscriptions account errors etc
They say they have customer service but their chat bot never gets back and their emails to subscribers are "no reply".
Honestly it's all hype, cool sexy gig pictures and no real commitment or involvement with music creators who are struggling to be noticed and need all the help they can get. Put your tracks on YouTube instead!
The support team, mainly "Jonas" have a very hard time at reading your replies to tickets. I was asked multiple times for an email and they'd actually reply to me giving the email asking for it again.
Overall their support team need more training as they're trained in all the wrong areas. They still fall victim to social engineering.
I abandoned Soundcloud 4 years ago after they took my annual subscription money for PRO and then deleted my account without warning or refund. I recently tried to upload a private (unlisted) edit to show a client their first dance song for their wedding and it was taken down in minutes!
Soundcloud is a music streaming service where you can listen to music you've uploaded or music that you've discovered. It's a great music discovery platform and one of the most popular sites for free music. I like it because you can find all the genres there and young creators who make astonishing music but are not that popular yet. I have Spotify too, but I use Soundcloud more often.
I paid 66 Euro for the Next Pro plan. It was supposed to be 50% off. The next years renewal price is 99 Euro, so, clearly false advertising there. I got one album to upload and get processed for distribution but it was reject because they said it had no lyrics and was marked as Not Explicit. Every song on the album has lyrics. So, clearly they had their heads up there a$ses when they did that review. Trying to reach customer service is nearly impossible. I have tried to upload and monetize two other albums that simply won't work because the server errors out every time. After spending about 8 hours trying to get any of it to work, I am left wanting my money back. It states there is a 30 day money back guarantee but that seems impossible to get. I feel ripped off. They shouldn't be advertising a service they clearly do not have working yet. All I get is "We're having trouble reaching our servers"
Considering that I have tons of music apps it is very difficult to write this review when I keep comparing it with the others. I really like it but sometimes I wish it would come up with some favs suggestions like pandora even though pandora doesn't let you find your own which is a big minus from soundccloud.
Low value for artists with needing to pay to even monetise your music and with a max upload time of 180 minutes before paying, terribly low royalty rates per view, infested with bots/promo ad accounts, site works great for listeners on the functional end though. So it might not be worth using as an artist, I still use it but I only just about break even with over 500 monetised views a day on a channel. Best bet in my view is to mainly focus on distribution through DistroKid or something and YouTube manual uploading for more value. Yes I understand it's their website and they can chose to do what they want, but there has been a lot of bad decisions of late.
I've mistyped my artist name while distributing my first release... big mistake, as there is no one replying to my e-mails. No one is acknowledging anything I say. I've been submitting tickets that no one reacts to. Then I decided to e-mail them and the automated response says "the best way to reach us is through the ticket system". Like ok wtf. It's so frustrating when all you receive is silence!
I'm totally leaving soundcloud and will never pay again for their $#*!ty services. Also their masterisation algorithms are quite crappy. I wish soundcloud was a real person who I could annoy back.
I've started my official music career with the wrong name and now I can't change it. Really not a great beginning lol.
Anyway, If you wanna release music to other platforms, it's probably best to use a distributor that is responsive. Just in case you need something changed.
I have had support tickets in that have been unanswered for weeks. I am currently trying to switch to a new distributor and now have multiple tracks upload to my accounts because Soundcloud won't respond to my tickets.
Let's also not forget about the predatory theft of 20% of your royalties. I only used soundcloud because the barrier to entry was low and now I am realizing that have done this to steal ignorant musicians like myself royalties. 20%?!? This service is theft.
I would recommend this service to my worst enemy and thats it.
Customer support needs serious work. I've been trying to get a simple change made (changing an artist name) for 257 days and still don't have a resolution. I've had to chase constantly and been assured multiple times it will be changed before finding out nothing has happened. Now they're saying they won't make the change until I re-subscribe and pay them more money. Incompetent vampires.
These terrible con-artists will basically spend their entire time trying to convince you Soundcloud pro is worth it, then make it nearly impossible to cancel their non-refundable $144 annual subscription. If it was so valuable why spend so much time and effort into hiding the cancellation and not notifying users of future bills they may not want. Soundcloud pro is a scam scam scam scam scam meant to take money from working artists only to provide useless information and a slurry of spam emails selling more useless crap from soundcloud.
I have limited experience with SoundCloud but so far I love it. Someone sent me a link to a playlist of work music. I've listened to it at least 20 times now. Usually there are no connectivity issues and the service works well. I'm looking to exploring what else is possible.
RIP to the good old days where sound cloud ruled. Greedy investment bankers have sucked the life out of everything good in this world. Are you kidding me... every two songs skipped I have to listen to the same 15 second advertisement over and over. If I have to watch another trash axe ad. Saying they want to produce my track then I will literally kill my self and live a suicide note blaming SoundCloud for my death. Have fun dealing with the lawyers my loving mother throws at you for the next 25 years.
Soundcloud used to be the best. I really do mean that, i loved the app, i loved the web site. Even for how much i love it, there is no way in hell anyone i know (including myself) is gonna pay $10-12 for it. I know it sucks but its gonna force me to delete my account soon and switch to something a little more professional if i have to pay (like apple music or spotify) sorry sound cloud but you just lost a lot of happy customers and all around made an awful choice
A tip if anyone from sound cloud ever saw this, make it $2 a month or something reasonable... dont be a sell out
There are so many issues with Soundcloud, and if you try to reach out to their support team, you will usually not get any response. If you are lucky enough to get a response, it will most definitely be completely devoid of assistance in any way, shape or form. If Soundcloud wants to become a competitor to other streaming services they need to listen to user feedback and fix the multitude of issues with their different platforms.
I`ve enjoyed reverbnation/myspace for several years, but I must say for me Soundcloud is the number 1 music website now. It`s a great site with an awesome layout where you can show/promote and share your music to the rest of the world. But it is also easily build up for listeners who just wants to discover and listen to new aspiring artists.
I have an account with Soundcloud for a few years. Since I gave them my debit card number there is no option to stop the payments. I tried to cancel the subscription, on their wen page it just doesn't work - they keep charging. Nobody to complain- it is just money sucking machine.
SoundCloud is just a stepping stone for an artist to get way better at their song craft and move on to bigger platforms when your music is ready and you catch the ears of the bigger music people that pick high quality studio music not that stuff that sounds like bad karaoke your making in a bedroom. Also artists get caught up in bad mouthing each others work on SoundCloud as that will not make your music better as it just makes the artists look bad and need to grow a lot to have really music makers give them a chance with their music.
SoundCloud has a rating of 1.8 stars from 148 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with SoundCloud most frequently mention customer service and free trial. SoundCloud ranks 125th among Music Promotion sites.
