The website booking process is unclear - I accidentally made a booking when I thought I was just going to the next step. I immediately notified Spotahome. It was on a Sunday so I could not reach anyone on the phone. I got an initial stock response saying that under the cancellation policy I could not get a refund. I emailed them on Monday with full details of how the error happened, including the fact that the booking was partially in the past. After some consideration of the circumstances they agreed to a full refund. So full marks for service - 4 stars because their website dialogue could do with some improvement and a cooling off period with free cancellation - even for 3 or 4 hours - to make the booking process less stressful.
I made the mistake of booking an apartment with this company. After whipping the 1st month rent and service charge out of my bank immediately they failed to confirm the booking. Relentless emails and spam texts but zero response when I was trying to find out what's happening. After several weeks I cancelled the booking and had to raise a claim with my bank (Nationwide) for fraud as they refused to refund the 'service charge' for the non-existent service. It wasn't hard to prove fraud and the bank agreed and upheld my claim refunding me in full.
Spotahome is absolute scam that will do everything not to return your security deposit. Our landlord came up with absurd and imaginary accusations about damages caused and even items thieved. All these claims are completely untrue and no evidence is sent to the tenants. Stay away from this company

I rented a room through spotahome. The apartment fit the description of the photos on the site. However the landlord was horrible he drafted a contract where he restricted me from using the apartment specific hours. Also the landlord was rude disrespectful I tried to contact spotahome. They refused out right helping me after 24h, we won't help you! The landlord took my deposit also.

I booked an accommodation with Spotahome and paid the price that was shown on their website, When I'm supposed to move in The Landlord is not picking up, Spotahome helpline suggested that I book an emergency accommodation, out of my pocket. When the landlord gets back to me, the lease agreement has abusrd deposits, which were not mentioned on the website. The Landlord approved the booking now I don't have a place to stay and They are not responding to my request for a refund.
Spotahome has not paid me for a tenant that has stayed at my room for eleven nights. Despite my complaints to their customer representative Sergio and their official website, I have not been paid. They are a scam.

First of all, the landlord never returns the deposit. He just shamelessly steals your deposit.
Spotahome cooperates with this criminal landlord and shares the profits. You can only recover stolen money in court.
Secondly, the room doesn't look like the photos on the Spotahome. I am attaching real photos here. There is a huge problem with fungi and mould in this house, huge spiders, ants, stench, renovation never completed, everything left halfway and not finished because the landlord suffers from mental illness.
Additionally, if you book a room in winter, be prepared to almost die from cold because there is NO heating in the house. The electrical installation is also broken, the washing machine, shower and internet keep turning off due to a short circuit in the installation (landlord wants to save even more money on a circuit that is not adapted to the building), non health and safety compliance, dangerous for your life!
Furthermore, be prepared for enormous stress and constant discomfort because the landlord suffers from Bipolar disorder, he is a borderline narc, he isn't real Portuguese, he won't even welcome you with a tiny smile when you arrive, forget about helping with the luggage, etc. He will meet you with angry face at the doors as if he is making you favour that you pay him. Very sick, nasty, demonic male with heavy control freak issues. He is constantly unemployed and goes into the house every day and watches the tenants, he has problems with anger control, has alternating attacks of outbursts of aggression and then tries to talk normally and pretend to be normal.
There is no end to the problems, broken door handles, satanic ornaments, mold settles even on your private clothes in the wardrobe, only male tenants rent there because it's such a nightmare. One of them is a pervert. Spotahome protects criminal landlords because together they create profits. If you don't want to end up in the court like me, you'll be safer in a tent.

Terrible customer service. There is no response and there is no replies to inquiries. It is impossible to view the contract before the first rent payment is deducted from the credit card, and the fact that you have a problem with several clauses in the contract is not a reason for them to cancel the deal. In the end we did not sign any contract and despite this we paid an unnecessary one month's rent. From that moment, no one in customer service responded to our complaints.

I tried to request information through their website and it was difficult to contact them. I was interested in a house but they had uploaded a video old from 2017 and I wanted to ask if there were any updated photos and videos. Too complicated, I couldn't find a way to contact them which made me give up. I don't consider it reliable so i deleted from my options to find an apartment via this company.
To avoid unexpected and unacceptable payment, you can contact your credit card company by saying you got scammed by someone and the company withdrew money without your consent.
I contacted their customer service and nothing worked. So I used the method above and successfully got a full refund from them. You will need to sacrifice your spotahome membership but still worth it.
Avoid this company at all costs
Avoid this company at all costs, they are unethical and unprofessional and their landlords are dishonest and deceitful. Our son was pressured by spotahome into paying a security deposit to a landlord in Barcelona which should not have been paid until arrival and the landlord is now refusing to return it leaving a student 1200 euros out of pocket and subjected to abusive emails. To make matters worse they do not have the courtesy to respond to emails.
I planned my trip two weeks in advance, one apartment I waited for a week and a half and the landlord nor the customer support replied. After some time, I booked a different apartment but the landlord requested more documents two days before travel. I sent them but received no answer from the landlord and customer support. As a result I booked a hotel room for the same day I arrived and booked a different apartment on Airbnb, which actually worked compared to this waste of time or, sorry, spotahome.com. Don't use it
We have booked a room for our son through Spotahome in Valencia. When
He arrived there, the room had no proper window and no natural light and felt
Like a prison cell. On the photos on the website the window was hidden

DO NOT USE THIS SITE! Absolutely terrible experience. I am still owed nearly £4000 from a deposit and a rent overpayment, which only occurred because Spotahome hadn't transferred the landlord the rent I sent them in time so money was demanded from me on arrival. Spotahome have made very little attempt to help me get this money or the deposit money back, saying I need to sort it out directly with the landlord. It has been 6 months since I moved out of the property now and she has ignored all my calls and messages asking for an update. Despite Spotahome being aware of this, the property I stayed in is still listed on their website with claims that it's had 67 happy tenants.
Pictures attached are of the flat that I rented for two months in Madrid. This is still on their site now despite what I am going through with the landlord so I would be very careful and avoid as there is absolutely no customer protection.
I rented a room from Spotahome. The room looked good on the site but in real life it was super small, overcharged the landlord was a liar. He asked me for extra fees cleaning service, no taking shower after spesific hour no washing the clothes during the morning or after 9pm. The landlord broke every single rule in the house. I contacted Spotahome for help they declined and told me its between me and the landlord.
I cancelled a booking N*******-Y3 shortly after making it. Charged €347 by Spotahome for momentary booking on top of a down payment for the first month of a property which I could not view.Instead I was asked to pay all months rent and utility bills for a property i could not view in advance. I reached out to the landlord and spotahome within 24 hours where I was met with silence. It has been the most unpleasant booking experience I have ever had thus far.
I'm a landlord in Berlin, Spotahome deducted a full month rent from my tenant bank account, and then never managed to transfer it to my bank account for me to cover mortgage and utilities.
Two months on, and still no solution in sight even though I did sign their rental protection agreement.

Horrible customer service. When I realized they were charging me a whole month's for 2 days I told them they gad missleading information. They replied to me that I need them. They dont need me. They will find customers but I will not find a plave in Berlin. Not only they had horrible customer service, but also horrible manners.

This is the most $#*! apartment booking website I have encountered. I was renting a room via Spotahome and I had a problem with the autopayment method they provided. And as I was trying to troubleshoot the problem by contacting them via Whatsapp and Email. Nothing. No reply. What I got in return is a bot-generated email saying that I haven't paid and I'm breaching the contract. Yeah no $#*! Im waiting for your assistance.
What is the point of having a customer service email address and a team that is supposed to assist their clients when they do NOT reply?
The tenant made a false claim and so Spotahmo said they would not pay me. I presented the evidence of the room, that was provided to the tenant that was agreed conidiation. They told tenant I said they must leave the property, they said they will not pay me, and they took money from the tenant stated I requested a depots fee, which I was unaware of. I only found out about this money because the tenant complained about being over charged. Booked a room and paid for it but never had my landlord answer me for two weeks. (They only give you landlords contact info after booking and paying the first months rent and an extra fee. After reporting to spotahome they only suggested I wait but since I couldn't wait for longer I had nothing refunded. Lost 680€ and the landlord who did nothing for me will recieve the forst months rent anyway.
I am trying to book an appartment through Spotahome, but my creditcard and my pay pall is refused for 2 weeks. I contacted them by email sereral time and by whatapp, but after 1 week they answered to ask me again what was wrong (I already pointed it out) and then there was silence and no solution! I could not reach them!
Booked a room through their website in March 2022 - they double booked the room due to their INCOMPETENCE, left me HOMELESS, worst customer service I have ever seen, no way to contact them properly, their employees seem to have no motivation to be helpful. I had to find a room on my own as a matter of 24 hours in one of the largest cities with the most competitive real estate market. I find the service offered very useful and would be happy to pay a fee to Spotahome, as long as that accommodation is provided for me. In this case I stupidly made a mistake and canceled the reservation after a few minutes. The landlord had also immediately contacted me on Whatsapp, I explained to him that there was an error. They did not want to proceed with the full refund, violating the basic rules on the right of withdrawal. I didn't want to take legal action because honestly I have many other things to sort out at this time, but it only takes a moment of distraction to lose half a salary in an instant. BE CAREFUL! Unfortunately I will use their website again, given the difficulty of finding accommodation in Lisbon, but in general I DO NOT RECOMMEND, if you can find accommodation in another way it is much better, you will avoid unpleasant misunderstandings and expensive loss of money.
