“Refused to fix my tv”

Jeanette D.
9/17/23

I bought a TV and good Faith. Knowing that at the time, square trade was a good and fair company about fixing any issues that you may have with electronics TV's that sort of thing, but then when my TV had an issue with having lines and all of these different colors all over the place they informed in for me. Oh, well, we no longer cover that. But that's not a me problem I feel like this company just scams people out of money to buy their warranties and don't disclose every bit of the information of what is and is not covered. I highly suggest if you have a warranty with them, I suggest you call them and get your money back because it's ridiculous. You can cancel your warranty anytime you want with them and they will, give you your money back. I highly suggest you do that because they're complete idiots over there. Not a, one of them will do anything to help you.

“Pathetic,Horrendous,Smoke and Mirrors Money Grabbing Organization”

Square trade only communicates via emails as they do not wish to speak with claimants. Then when you call they blow smoke up your $#*!,make excuses to get your call ended. You never speak to the same person twice when you call and that person can not give you an answer. I bought a 58" RCA TV & extended Square Trade extended warranty from Walmart(Only choice you have). TV totally quit working after 2 1/2 years. Still fighting after 5 days to get any responses as to my claim. No responses to e-mails. I don't understand how Allstate can partner with such a horrendous outfit. Basically they get your money and screw you when you file a claim. Square trade does not want to part with one cent of your warranty money. Biggest scam on the planet. Sad as this is the first extended warranty I ever purchased in my 72 years on this earth. All Square Trade will do is blow smoke up your $#*! when you need them. Disgusting.

Called Squaretrade when my Samsung S22 Ulta network connections stopped. AT&T and local repair shop said it was a common motherboard failure and not repairable. Squaretrade said they could fix it but I would have to drive 60 miles away to a shop. After I refused to drive 120 miles twice to drop off and pickup a non-repairable phone they said they would replace it with a like-phone. After 3 weeks of runarounds and lies I had to buy a new phone. They never intended to replace or refund me for my phone the was only 3 months into an extended 2 year warranty. Squaretrade, owned and Operated by Allstate Insurance Company also a well known bunch of scammers deals with Walmart and Costco and other companies I'm sure. Before you buy an extended warranty, ASK who they use for extended warranty service for TVs, computers, appliances, etc. If Allstate Squaretrade, do not buy it or you'll be giving your money away for nothing. Gave 1 star as 0 stars not an option.

Screen has obvious damage from an electrical source within the TV, SquareTrade rejected, saying there was physical damage. There isn't any physical damage! In fact with the TV of it's even more obvious there isn't any physical damage. I'll never insure anything with SquareTrade again.

Tip for consumers:
Think twice, they flatly reject claims with no recourse.

They never sent an email. Wrong insurance for the item. They said they would refund but didn't. They blocked me! EBay said they couldn't help even though they recommended this service. I didn't even get a letter in the mail. If you want to be stabbed in the back, just say hello to Allstate SquareTrade insurance!

Bought a set of Skullcandy earbuds on eBay. AllState SquareTrade was offered with 2 year coverage on purchase of the earbuds. I have had issues pairing the ear buds. When I attempted to file a claim SquareTrade indicated that since I was not able to pair the devices from the start they were defective and would not offer any assistance. What does it mean to have a plan if the SquareTrade will not provide any coverage. I will not consider SquareTrade as an added coverage going forward. Appears the will take any step possible not to pay a claim.

Made claim on an item that was close to the expiration date of the warranty, because it stopped working. Instructed to send item in to be repaired, repaired and returned a few days before warranty expires, did not receive paperwork and was not informed that warranty for repair is only good for 30 days. Item stopped working, doing the same thing it was doing when sent for repair, over the 30 days from repair return and I was told there is nothing they could do. The should offer warranty longer than 30 days on repair work or should have seen item could not be repaired to last 3 more year, and replaced item. Waste of money.

I took a 2 year warranty out with Square Trade on a camera I bought. Initially they asked for a receipt so I sent a scan which they approved. Almost a year later I submitted a repair request for the camera. They wanted a receipt again so I resent them scan of the same receipt they approved previously. They rejected it because it did not have the sellers Ebay logo on it and it never did. (The seller could not be reached.) Many angry emails and phone calls later through a host of phone numbers and connections (about over a period of 2 weeks) they finally accepted the receipt. They were definitely jerking me around hoping I would give up the fight. I sent my camera in for repair and it came back with out the battery (which they requested with the camera). It took another 3 phone calls before they agreed to send me the battery.

During this debacle, I Googled "Square Trade complaints and found a long list of similar problems with them. Do not do business with Square Trade!

My ONN 65' Roku Tv stopping working and the screen turned black and my claim was denied stating that there was physical damage when there was no physical damage at all. The silly supervisor didn't help and only repeated the same thing to me again. My protection plan doesn't expire until 11/18/23 but they don't want to fix or reimburse me for my tv that just stopped working. This is a horrible company and the supervisors aren't any help. I wouldn't waste my time filing a claim if there was physical damage on my part. I will Not purchase another ONN or any brand tv from Walmart.

We got square trade for a cell phone. We want to cancel. Square Trade can not find our policy, so they want to keep billing the card. When you call, you get people that barley speak English and are no help at all. Finally had to cancel our credit card to stop the automatic billing.

This company gives inaccurate information. They have made me wait for months to get a part and still have not got a part. Each time I have called they have said something different than the previous conversation. They lied on their notes stating things that were not true such as I have denied to take photos and that they were ordering the part. But o call after month has passed and they say they need another picture even though a tenchician has came and located that part that needs fixed and have already told me they were ordering the Correct part.

They make it look easy to get computer insurance but you should really read the fine print. Getting a repair is next to impossible unless you are willing to fork over the money first and wait to be reimbursed. Getting someone on the phone to update you on a claim is almost out of the question. They have my money now but they will never get my money again! Horrible customer service and claims service!

I bought the extended warranty through Walmart. My treadmill completely stopped working. Have a factory repair tech come out 7 times to fix it. He couldn't. They sent email (attached) stating they agreed it couldn't be fixed. So instead of paying to replace it or replacing it they came up with all kinds of reasons why the repair tech wasn't qualified to repair it, said they couldn't verify his number, couldn't verify it was broken etc etc etc. Came up with excuse after excuse why they closed my claim. Biggest waste of money ever. Stay far away from square trade.

I paid for an extended warranty with Home Depot. The item broke and I was referred to Square Trade. They set an appointment for the repair for over a week away. Three days later the repair company with which it was scheduled called and said they could not keep the appointment because I do not have the part and they will not schedule an appointment until I get the part. They said they are scheduling 2 weeks out. I called Square Trade and they said sorry. We don't know when you will get the part but you will need to call the repair company back and reschedule once you receive it. The repair company is located over 100 miles from my location and Square Trade said there is no one closer and they will not pay for anyone else to fix it. That is simply poor customer service and a waste of resources. Decline the extended warranty option. Home Depot and this company are useless and provide the worst customer service I have ever encountered.

I spent 3 hours back and forth with them. They made it very difficult to file a claim. The agent just wanted to end the conversation quicker. I wonder if they work from home.
I still don't get the approval from them. I will update the result.

I will keep this brief, but overall I purchased a protection plan for a mobile device, and it was a complete was of money. They were unable to send a replacement device when I broken Galaxy Fold 3. I called close to 20 times and was given bad information each time. The final resolution was them issuing me a check for my device that they were unable to replace, and it took literally a month to receive the payment from when I filled the initial claim. Told them multiple times I could not go that long without a device, but basically it wasn't there problem. I will never use squaretrade again.

Tip for consumers:
Aquire a protection plan elsewhere.

An extended warranty policy came with the TV I purchased from Costco but I could not find the policy online. The policy somehow got listed under an old email which I can no longer access. When I reported it, I was told the process. I had to send them a photo of the TV, photo of the serial and product number and receipt. I had ordered online so I sent a copy of my receipt from my order confirmation, Then I got an email saying that they noticed that the receipt was not in jpg or pdf format. So I sent that to them after getting a copy of it from the Costco site. I've had the TV for two weeks now and I still don't have my policy or can access it! God, forbid, I hope I don't ever have to file a claim with these people!

Ok so I purchased a 75 inch TV from Walmart a year ago, I added on insurance for an extra $100.so a few days ago our Tv just went out. So I filed a claim with the company. Was told to send a video of the problem. I sent a video of a black screen with sound. They said give them a business day. I give two business days n called back. The customer service rep say it don't show the problem. I had to tell her that's the problem my screen is black with sound she say aww okay it say the back light went out. How do I suppose to know what's wrong with my big $#*! 75 inch tv that's mounted on the wall. So they said one more business day remind you today is Thursday so I've been without a tv for 4 days n will be out for 3 more days so far

I filed my claim through the Allstate square trade website March 17th for my microwave. I had the 3 year protection plan. The microwave is smoking and popping. The claim was accepted and I chose the gift card reimbursement because it said I would receive the refund within one day. Received an email saying I would receive the email within one day. Never received a gift card. 5 calls later it is currently April 9th still no gift card. So much for getting a replacement microwave within a few days. It's been weeks. Still getting a run around on the phone, no solution has been made and no gift card. They refuse to send a check in the mail or reimburse my original payment method. I need to receive a call from Allstate and not square trade and I need a check in the mail.

I called squaretrade and told them my power inverter was not working on aririval. They told me it wouldn't be covered because not working at first meant a preexisting condition. I read that their plans start on the first day of purchase of the item. I didn't even have it delivered for two weeks. I have never heard such nonsense in my life. Rather than deal with a bunch of scammers I'll bite the bullet on the price of insurance, but I'm stuck with a non working inverter. Every thing is digital including receipts, which I can't seem to access.

Purchased a protection plan when we bought our furniture. When we needed the insurance and filed all the claims they were worthless. It was damn near impossible to file the claim in the first place and once the claim was filed and approved, we didn't receive our gift card/credit as we were promised. In the meantime, the furniture we wanted to replace with the gift cards has doubled in price and will now cost us more money than the original furniture. This insurance is great until you need it

Years ago square trade was a good warranty service. I have had nothing but problems with them even sending a label to mail in my son's switch lite that they say they can repair. Now it's over a month later, still haven't received any label. My son's switch console is now broken because he's had to use that as a handheld while still waiting on square trade. I filed another claim in and this company is giving me the run around again. They keep telling me I'll hear back in 1 business day, and they don't get back to me. I paid a lot of extra money for these protection plans so I am very disappointed. I will never get another protection plan through them. I've contacted them several times and they still aren't doing what their supposed to do. What am I paying all this extra money for.? I wouldn't tell anyone to get this added coverage. Years ago yes, not since Allstate took over. They are the worst!

Tip for consumers:
Please let others know if you're being scammed by a company. I try to let others know, just so I can help someone in the future not go through the same thing that I'm going through.

Products used:
I have a switch lite and switch console that I have had zero help with fixing or replacing, even with all the extra money ($100 extra) on top of the items already being pricey because I trusted if they got damaged, this company would fix or replace. They are not doing either. Over a month of getting the run around.

I have been approved for reimbursement by email but have no check yet so the issue isnt resolved until I have the $$ in my hand. Also, the whole endeavor was a nightmare. The seller and manufacturer wouldnt warranty the 11 month old phone so I went to Square Trade who gladly took my money when it was time to buy but when it was time to pay, it took multiple interactions and then being told that proof of no other warranty to actually get paid back for the repair. So there is a very good chance that I will be going elsewhere to get extended phone warranties from now on. Honestly, the whole process was much better before AllState bought them.

Tip for consumers:
Do not go with Square Trade or Allstate

When I first purchased my PC back in 2021, there were issues with the DP port and some of the USB ports. I was able to work around the issues as I have multiple DP ports and usb ports. The Bluetooth was definitely not working correctly when it came to audio playback. It was until the aux port stopped working that I decided to send it back to Squaretrade. They fixed the Bluetooth and hopefully fixed the USB ports. What they didn't do was fix the DP port. I have three DP ports. Two now do not respond at all. The one that does has a whole bunch of green lines running across the screen. None of my HDMI ports work at all now and that was never an issue before. Now I have to send it back again. Squaretrade is trash.
