I am going to file a complaint with the FTC.
Then an attorney.
I have invested in multiple companies with Start Engine. It's easy to use and very good early high return investment opportunities.
I have been investing on StartEngine for over 2 years and have invested in over 30 companies (some multiple times). Since these investments carry an extremely high degree of risk, I tend to spread out money over multiple sectors and corporations. There are currently little or no secondary markets for these securities and as such be considered long-term commitments. They should also be considered as part of an overall investment strategy.
I worked in Financial Services for over 35 years and was precluded from investing in "hot" IPO's. The advent of Equity Crowdfunding can be advantageous to both investors and pre-IPO companies seeking investment capital.
Investors also need to realize that equity Crowdfunding is a nascent industry and is evolving rapidly both from an investment perspective and regulatory oversight.
Overall, I have been impressed with StartEngine on multiple levels:
1) Howard Marks, the CEO has been a proponent of the industry and has sponsored webinars, seminars, conferences, company overviews and Q&A sessions. I have participated in some and watched some of the videos of the conferences.
2) Anytime that I have had a question, it has been responded to within a day and often sooner.
3) StartEngine highlights the risk on every investment with a caveat like "This investment is speculative, illiquid, and involves a high degree of risk, including the possible loss of your entire investment."
4) A wide selection of offerings across multiple sectors.
5) Once familiar with the process and platform, it is simple to use. Some investments may require you to be an "accredited investor" which requires additional paperwork due to regulatory issues.
I would also say that prior to investing anything, I did considerable research and reading. I devoured everything on Start Engine's website as well as explanatory articles.
They take your money and run. I can NEVER get any replies to my inquiries. I'm filing a complaint with the SEC and Attorney General's Office!
BEWARE!
I bought JTAI before it went public for $600 for 800 shares. When it went public, I got 39 shares, which is $27.

TOOK MY MONEY AND RAN WITH FOLKS RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.AND I CANNOT CATCH A LIVE PERSON TO SAVE MY LIFE
Start Engine apparently does nothing to make sure that the offerings on the site are legitimate, much less worthwhile investments. I have been investing on StartEngine since the earliest days of the platform with company like Elio (circa 2016), and just about every single company I have invested in has failed or the company is MIA. I see other investors commenting that they have had the same results.
I have also attempted to invest in Start Engine itself, but for whatever reason my investments keep being rejected. I have tried on three separate occasions, so there are three separate rejected investments on my account.
The site says you can 'Fix' the investments, but when I try to fix them and charge a bank card again it doesn't work, and without explanation. It just says that it failed. I tried with three different cards. Flash forward a few weeks and I realize that Start Engine has kept my money on some of my attempts to fix the investment. I try to contact Start Engine and they don't get back to me so I dispute one of the charges with a chargeback request. This gets them to respond, and they say it will be 5 to 10 days for a refund to be applied on a different charge but that they are fighting the chargeback request so that one will likely take 90 days. They then state that they will refund me promptly if they win the chargeback request... WTF?
WHY would they OFFER me the opportunity to fix the investment if they are going to automatically reject it?
WHY would they TAKE the money if the investment is not available/current/or whatever their reason was for rejecting it?
WHY would they KEEP the money after they rejected the investment?
WHY would they DISPUTE the chargeback request if they admit the money should be refunded?
Start Engine boggles the mind with their incompetence.
MADE IT EASY FOR A BEGINNER LIKE ME TO START INVESTING AND INVESTING MORE WHEN YOU WANT TO. DO NOT BE AFRAID AND SEE FAMILIAR FACES
I wish there was a way to pull it all out and sink it in the market without taking a loss. At this point I will ride this out, but no new investments for me. The entire vision here is that you get in while they are young, and when they grow, you grow with them. But that is not what is happening, at least not for me, and not now. Some companies are good, and as long as it stays in Start engine there is not loss, but once it goes IPO, my experience is you get the short end of the stick. I thought it was a good way to get in with startups before they get big and capitalize on their growth. But my investment is either not growing, or if it grows, it is very little. Then there is a real risk that if an when the company goes IPO, the growth will kill an investment.
Example:
1) I invested in a company called NowRx. It was doing great. Then one day it sold its patient files to Alto Pharmacy and Capsule Corp. then liquidated the investments stocks - I lost my entire investment.
2) there was another company in which I invested. They went public at pennies for the dollar. Lost a lot. Wish I could tell you the name, but Startengine no longer has the option to view my investments that went public. If they do, it is no longer easy to find. Probably a good business practice so investors don't see thousands turn into $100s.
3) I bought Jet Token, it was recently acquired by I went from 800 shares valued at 1000.00+ to 39 shares with no declared value.
I have 26K with start engine and a had started to do the same in SeedInvest, but stopped. I think I am done sinking money in these side Pre-IPO investment. Unless I see a change in profits in this platform, which I have not yet, I will invest in the actually Markent moving forward. Easy enough since I found out companies like Fidelity will allow partial share purchases. Now I can invest an amount without haveing to worry about buying the entire share when I don't have all the amount.
Hope this helps someone out there thinking of investing
Answer: Yes, StartEngine is absolutely a legitimate business to invest in. Most recently they've hired Kevin O'Leary from the investment TV show "Shark Tank" as their new spokesman. They are currently the 10 fastest growing private company in CA.
Answer: Hi John. Refunds are processed within 10 business days. To check on the status of your refund, please reach out to our support team by emailing contact@startengine.com and we'd be happy to assist.
Answer: Hey William, Thanks for getting in touch with StartEngine, we are happy to assist with your question! To clarify, companies that raise funds on StartEngine are private companies, so unlike companies listed on the NYSE or NASDAQ, their shares do not fluctuate in value on a day-to-day basis. These investments are considered longer-term and not immediately liquidating. Typically, you will only see a change in the value of your shares if/when the company raises additional capital or goes through an exit event, such as an acquisition or IPO. And keep in mind that your StartEngine dashboard won't reflect any changes in share value – it only shows the initial terms of your investment at the time you made it. If you have any questions about the company and its progress, we recommend reaching out to them directly through the "comments" section of their campaign page or website. If you want to learn more about investing in startups and the potential outcomes, you can check out the articles at www.startengine.com/blog/investing-in-startups-101 and help.startengine.com. Answer: Hi Frank, We cannot provide financial advice or predict a return on investment. However, as a rule start-up investing is inherently extremely high risk, longer term, and illiquid and you should only invest what you can afford to entirely lose. Investing in start-ups should only be done because you are passionate about supporting the company and believe in them. As always, we recommend consulting a financial professional to discuss your own personal goals. You can follow companies on our platform and receive their updates even without investing by making an account and clicking on the "heart" icon on their campaign page.
StartEngine has a rating of 2.7 stars from 182 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with StartEngine most frequently mention customer service, phone number and email address. StartEngine ranks 2nd among Crowd Funding sites.
Hi Andrew,
We apologize that your experience investing with Flower Turbines has not met your expectations. Investing in early stage startups is high risk, as these investments are illiquid and highly speculative. If you'd like to get in touch with Flower Turbines, you may reach out to them via the comments section of their campaign page.
