Target has a rating of 2.3 stars from 1,739 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Target most frequently mention customer service, gift card, and online order problems. Target ranks 3rd among Department Store sites.
Target is my go-to retailer for its combination of affordability, convenience, and variety. Whether I'm shopping for groceries, household essentials, or clothing, Target consistently delivers quality products at reasonable prices. I appreciate the ease of shopping both in-store and online, as well as the frequent deals and promotions available to Target Circle members
I was an avid Target fan years ago when they sold brands that people actually liked and wanted to wear. Then for some reason, who ever they have as buyers lately, are totally missing the mark, esp on clothing. I never see anyone looking (or buying) their clothes these days. I only buy here for my 5% off w/Red card purchases on certain items. Have no idea if they can 'recoup' as they've been 'in the dumps' now for years imo.
I witessed a disturbing incident at the Gainesville, FL store. An adolescent boy and his mother were at the customer service desk with an obviously factory-sealed video game. The mom explained that the boy had asked family members for the game and had recently received two of the same title, both bought at Target. She asked if she could trade it for another game or get a store credit. The employee refused-"We don't take returns for video games, DVDs or CDs. It's our policy." The manager was (politely) called to the desk and also refused her request. I understand the policy--but I feel certain that it was intended for opened video games or DVD/CDs so they couldn't be reproduced and then returned. That wasn't the case in this instance. The poor kid and his mother quietly turned and walked out of the store holding their video game, the kid close to tears. It was handled VERY POORLY! It made a believer out of me, No more Target.

Scams have no place in our shopping paradise! It pains me to share my recent encounter at Target, where third-party gift cards turned out to be nothing but a mirage. My hopes were shattered, but worse yet, Target's response left much to be desired. Their customer service and Guest Relations department lacked empathy, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help. Instead, they hung up on me, leaving me in disbelief. The third-party involved in this elaborate fraud remained silent, their phones never answered. Frustration reached its peak, and I knew I had to take action. Remember, my dear followers, if you ever stumble upon this treacherous path, report it to the Federal Trade Commission. Let your voice be heard, and together, we can protect others from falling into this scam. Let's make sure Target, and other retailers, understand the consequences of neglecting their customers. #ScamAlert #ReportToFTC #ProtectConsumers #DemandAccountability
Tip for consumers:
Avoid purchaseing gift card form target. I recorded a video of how target store manager behave and treat me so impolitly and unprofessional. Also Gurest Relation that transered my call to a internal departmnet that handdle gift card issue how that departmnet was so unprofessional and hang up the phone on me.

Target stores care about their customers; needs, lifestyle changes, being current with innovative trends and technology. Stores are brightly lighted w colorful displays. Cartwheel ap for cell phone is user customer friendly- true discounts.
Target debit card makes extra savings each time used. Stores are clean everwhere; consistent w keeping tidy. Employees smile when greeting. * One misunderstanding, maybe I'm traditional and ' conservative. Is lack of employees
Dress code. Seems anything goes: nose piercings are disturbing, untucked shirts or hanging belt less pants. Unkept hair styles on Young Men & Woman. Doesn't keep in conjunction w Target image makers presentation. Understand it is the trendy age of Youth; but image is everlasting. Youth need to grow-up with work ethic responsibility. Back in 2021, end of October, I had an issue registering on the target website. After 5-6 times of talking with customer support, they could not figure out, why I could not open a registration/login page. After researching, I finally registered on the website and preordered two items. Since December, I've been approving delays on shipment and had zero problems with that, until today, when I found out that they canceled my order because it was out of stock. Here is their question now, what's the point of preordering items, approving delays for months, and then suddenly without any warning, they are canceling it.
Of course, support had no idea what to do, except "Sorry for disappointment".
I'm really annoyed and I'll write this review everywhere, even though, I know its not gonna do anything.
Tip for consumers:
Never use the target website, you'll end up annoyed like me.

Target is absolutely ridiculous. I'm a truck driver and during the pandemic I was so busy driving and getting supplies delivered all over America. My Red Card was set on autopay and since I couldn't manage my credit union I switched my payment to my other bank since they're nationwide. Unaware that it didn't apply for the current month my payment failed to post. Target ended up putting 2 late payments on my account. I've written, called and filed a complaint with CFPB about this error. Target refuses to rectify the entries. I had same issue with Kohls and Walmart. They immediately fixed these late payments but Target is so greedy and unfair they will not fix it no matter what. I can't wait to pay this account off and close it even though it's one of my oldest cards. I refuse to give them my business after this.

This will be the 3rd time that I have placed an online order at Target.com to be either duplicate charged or charged $83.00 for an $18.00 grocery item. It is 7:45pm and the Target 800 number says WE ARE CLOSED - Call tomorrow. Really? The corporate customer service line is Closed? When I have spoken to a CSR in the past for 5 duplicate $73.00 charges pending on my checking account, I was told "Don't worry, they will probably fall off within 30 DAYS". WTH - They could wipe your checking account out while you have bills coming through that will bounce now.
How does an $8.00 box of cat food with a $9.99 delivery charge (ridiculous BTW) turn into an $83.59 charge on my bank card? One time is a mistake----- 3 separate orders in 6 months with massive overcharges is NOT a mistake on their part. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Tip for consumers:
If I knew they would wipe out my checking account and take 30 days to get my money released, I wouldn't order from them. No customer service phone line after 8pm.

Called to cancel my RedCard because Target wouldn't let me attach it to my account as my last name (Dyke) was considered vulgar! I called Target to see if they could somehow attach it for me. Automated answering machine hung up on me - 3 times. So I called Target to cancel my RedCard. John (supervisor) who refused to give me his last name, politely argued with me for over 6 minutes telling me I should not close the account. I had to hang up on him and call again to get another agent. I was finally able to cancel my account.

Found Bandaids on sale with a sale sticker on the rows of all of the, "Buy One, get one FREE". Went to purchase them and the woman in front of us was questioning the cashier about a price and then took her bags unhappily and left. She started ringing up my items and I said wait the Bandaids are on sale. She said nope didn't ring up that way. I told her there were sale stickers on each row could she check? She asked me if I took a picture of it? I said why would I do that I didn't think Target would put up sales stickers if they weren't on sale. She said oh well you want them or not? I asked again if she could check? She said no that I could go to customer service and argue with them. I said no thank you I just waited in this long line and didn't want to go wait in another for someone to be rude to me. Now I know why I order on Amazon, great prices, easy returns and awesome customer service! Never again Target!

My son recieved a $10 toy for Christmas. It did not work. So the week after Christmas I took it in to exchange it for one that worked. I was not given the receipt with the gift and the family member that gave it lived over 3 hours away. At the store they scanned the box and could clearly see it came from Target. Then I was told that without the receipt they couldn't return it because I may have gotten it on sale and was trying to get full price back. I explained over and over I wanted NO MONEY. I only wanted a functioning product. I was told NO, they couldn't do that because that is how people steal from them. I was so confused Target is selling broken products for full price. Where I come from that is stealing! They even called corporate for me and they said the same thing. I was told that it was store policy. Well, just because it is store policy that doesn't make it ethical. So in the end Target stole from a small child!

Another Chinese dump station for good ol' landfill USA. A place to suck those lower economic folks in debt until they can eventually work for the Company store. 20PLUS % interest but they GIVE you 5% off your purchases. Woo--Whooo

I was in your store at Tempe Marketplace on Friday August 16th and again on Monday August 19th. On both visits I observed a Target cashier wearing a BLM facemask.
Is it company policy to allowyour employees to wear racial political messages on their uniforms? I find this type of behavior completely unacceptable. Why would you want to make your guests feel uncomfortable, and violated in this way? I spoke with the store director, Craig, who said that he fully supports this employee wearing a political logo on her company required uniform. Needless to say, you have lost a lifetime customer due to your political promotion

I ordered an item online and I paid extra for premium shipping to have it delivered on a Friday. Item didn't arrive and now it won't arrive until Monday. Item was a gift and now I am without a gift. I never was even notified that it wouldn't arrive on time. Customer service offered a whole $4 for the inconvenience. They shouldn't say an item can be delivered by a certain date when it can't be.

While shopping Target online, website completed an order that was in my cart, while i was still shopping. I found an email confirming a $200+ order that i never placed. I called to explain the issue and they refused to cancel the order that THEY placed on my behalf. Had to call my bank to stop payment. NEVER EVER shop Target!

The computer showed the were in stock. When i got there only the regular mints were available. When i went to check out at the self service counters, they were all shut down. This is at 9 oclock in the morning. I got in a long line to check out at one of the regular checkers when an employeewent over and turned on the self service counters. All were taken bu one when i got there. I tried to use it and it didnot work. The employee came over and told me it was out of order. Sorriest experience i've ever had and i just left the candy there, By the time i found out the register did not work there was a line at the other ones. Won't go back to target. Never had this trouble at wal mart.
Tip for consumers:
This is the weekend before Christmas. You would think they would have their checkout counters operating before 9am for self service and mor checkout registers hnadling the customers.

All I can say is, "WOW!" I couldn't have asked for better service from everyone in the store while I visited. Then I left my phone in the restroom and was almost home in Atlanta before I realized it. Not only did they retrieve my phone (thank you honest people in the world), but they shipped it back to me. Connie in customer service was amazing as well as everyone that helped me along the way... I wish I knew all your names. You all deserve a raise! I am already a loyal Target customer, but I am now a huge fan and believer that human kindness and customer service are Target's priority. I am so impressed. All my friends are all going to hear about this Target experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you Target!

Target is a great place to shop at! Honestly, i would recommend any shoppers to Target. I love their wide selection on beauty cosmetics! They even have a page where you can get free samples at! It takes up to 5 weeks to ship it to you but it's totally worth it! LOVE LOVE LOVE TARGET!

Of all of the stores, in all of the world- THIS- is my absolute favorite! The customer service is amazing, there is always someone looking to help the customers, you never have to search the entire store for an employee, the stores are immaculately clean, and on top of all of that, unlike Walmart, Target has enough employees to handle the rushes of customers, so no waiting an hour to checkout in one of the 2 lines that are open, and you can actually walk through the aisles with out bumping into 10 people!

Today I went to Target to use a gift card that they gave me the scratch off in front of the cage to use it. It turned out that I had nothing with a balance that they had blocked, I spoke to customer service and they told me they need the purchase ticket for the card but if someone He gives it to you, you don't need to ask for the e-purchase ticket and they didn't return the valance, that's not right, I see it as a robbery to the terrible customer service

My bill was paid in full didn't receive a receipt, I called twice in November no one took my case seriously saying they would get back to me and no one did my card was put on hold couldn't use it I already discarded target card & will take my business to Walmart. Thank God for miss Dianne who finally was able to see the transaction a month later that all the other representatives could not see because of their incompetence & lack of concern all they was good at is just transferring me to one rep to another I spoke to 5 people before I actually got someone who knew what needed to be done.

Target has a history of selling exclusive items, the main problem is that they issue their exclusives to be purchased only by scalpers. The vast majority of costumers can't get their hands on so called "exclusives" because those items are never available at a decent time, neither Target limit the amount of items that 1 person can buy. Last exclusive they had was available for purchase at 2am! And only lasted for sale for less than 30 min because all the scalpers had their hands on them! It is really ridiculous that Target have those selling practices! There are many angry costumers because they never have anything new to buy at, either, their website or actual stores! They seem to sell leftovers or items nobody wants at their stores. I will not waste my time going back to Target.

I ordered an infant car seat for my daughter on April 27 as she was expecting her baby by C Section on June 1. They are stationed in the Military in Germany and I was given an expected delivery of the item on May 19. The tracking number from USPS since May 3 from Jersey City indicates "in transit". I finally called Customer Service on May 27 as my daughter legally cannot bring her baby home without a carseat. I was told they could not track it and it is assumed to be "lost in transit". I asked for a refund so I could have her go to the PX and quickly buy another seat and I was told that due to a technical error she could not issue a refund and gave me another toll free number to call, where I was given a case number and told to wait for an email to see if the "escalation department" would give me a refund as I do NOT want the seat now. The only thing that is escalating is my frustration. I will be writing to the CEO, Brian Cornell. I have yet to receive my email.

Target has the worst customer support I have ever experienced. I bought Serta queen air mattress and tried it for one night, it deflates every hour and you have to inflate it using the noisy pump they have it with the mattress. Not only this but the mattress releases plastic odor that started me on a series of cough and itchy throat, when I took the mattress the next day to the store for a refund I was told that their policy will not allow for a refund only exchange for a similar or different air mattress. I tried to talk to their customer service but no hope the same answer. I filed a complaint with BBB and I am escalating the issue legally to ensure that no one falls in the same trap.

I love target.com! Easy to navigate. I placed an order 2 days before Christmas part of it I picked up it store and they had it ready and waiting when I got to the store. The rest had to be shipped since they don't sell some items it store only online. Order was to be delivered Dec24 after 4pm. I got an email saying shipping would be delayed by a few days and my order would not be in on time for Christmas, but to my surprise it was delivered on dec 24 by 9am. Target made sure we got my order it on time. Had a great Christmas day thanks to target services.
