Well, I purchased a dinning set which came damaged. I contacted the maker and they did not respond or help. I contacted Target for a replacement and return. The replacement was delivered to the wrong house downstairs. I contacted Target and they told me just over over their, open the package while it's standing up and take out a piece at a time for the ones I need to replace. This box was 3 times my width and taker than me. Weights about my weight. I am not taking that risk. The box said lay flat before opening. Target just said too bad. I then called and they just said they will come and pick up both package, the damaged on and the one that is delivered to the wrong place and refund me. Well, they did not refund me at all. I called, chatted, shown delivery proof and was told they have a system. They need to transfer my case to the investigation team, then the research team, then the specialist team and then to processing and such, then refund. Well, they never even transferred my case to any team when a week later I contacted them again. The chat rep told me to just contact my bank. I did and it took weeks more plus a complaint to the BBB for Target to refund me. Then they sent me a collection letter telling me I owe them the money. I contacted my bank and was told they are still under investigation and need Target to contact them directly as I have hand the case over to my bank. Well, Target just won't and keep sending debt collection letters with threat of me not being able to use my RED card again and such. So to avoid any hit on my credit and stuff, I have to send in another payment that I do not owe to Target. Hopefully it's a learning lesson and when this clears, I will cancel the RED card. I started using because I gave up on Walmart, but sadly this year, Walmart online has beat Target new "improved" system for sure. The 5% off on Red card is for sure not worth the trouble. I since then I have do all my shopping mainly on Amazon. The comfort of having decent/good customer services helps me more than a few dollars discount. So beware if you buy anything expensive and large from Target that comes damaged, it's like giving birth each time you contact them.

Words cannot explain!
December 10, 2017

I placed an order for a gift of 20 candles and was sent the wrong item twice including the replacement items and they all came broken. And I only received half the order. The customer service rep gave me a partial refund, told me target.com messed up the description and said the other half of my order will arrive on Monday and I would receive a call from the target escalation team regarding ordering the original item on Tuesday. Well its Saturday night and I havent received a telephone call But I did receive the other half of the order, which is also wrong and came broken. And the rep tells me its no excuse but we have a lot of new workers and are receiving a lot of orders. Really? So here I am over a week later with broken merchandise I didnt order, half a refund for items I still need, and Half an order that should have arrived last week with the rest of the order that is not only broken, but they PACKED THE BOX WITH GARBAGE. A USED POTATO CHIP BAG, USED SCRATCH CARDS, AND A USED GROCERY PRODUCE BAG WAS IN THE BOX! And when I asked to speak to someone higher up, the rep I spoke to tonight said there is no one higher up, hes already located in the Target corporate building, and besides, we have no control over what happens in our distribution centers so he doesnt know what I want him to do. I AM FLABBERGASTED!

High shipping fees
February 16, 2016

$4.00 per item seems a bit high for a $7.99 cup and a $3.50 book... online exclusives will not ship to a store for free. Caveat emptor (Buyer beware)

I seldom, well actually never, write reviews. I'm an incredibly busy person. But for some reason it felt like time, mainly because other businesses have made online shopping experiences so easy, when this one was not. I had a baby shower in two weeks, and ordering online is usually so much faster for me. However, I had never ordered from Target online, and it was on the registry. I ordered two items, and one said it would ship for free to the store, and I thought, why not? As soon as i paid for the order, I got an email stating that the store delivery date would be a full week later than what they had told before before I ordered it. Of course now it would arrive after the baby shower.
Needless to say, I immediately called and tried to cancel just the one item that would not be arriving on time. The told me they couldn't cancel it even though I had just placed it. I have had to cancel an order through Amazon and through Sierra trading post before, and they kindly helped me out immediately. This saved them money in the long run because I reward them by continuing to use them.
Anyway, they made no effort to help me change or cancel the order. I would have happily ordered some other things on the registry, but they are so greedy to not let you cancel, that they said you must wait for it to arrive, go pick it up, then return it. The person I spoke with also told me that my card wouldn't be charged until it arrived in the store, which is also not true. They charged my card the next day for the entire order.
Long story short, instead of buying alternative things through their store that will arrive on time, I ordered the same thing at Amazon and expect it to arrive without issues. Target, I'm shocked you've made it this far when other companies have such smoother and more easily correctable online service.

Customer service
May 22, 2020

Went to Target Liquor in Waconia, Asked the sales rep how much wine they had of the Roots Cab, she was so polite and professional and after scanning a bottle she told me they had 76 bottles (6.3 cases), I asked her if I could get 3 cases, I drove 40 miles to get there and like that (because of stay at home orders i want to limit visits), she was polite and said yes, she went into the back and out came another sales rep and she told me that she would only sell one case because she does not want to run out over the weekend, I said I understand, please is there any chance I could get 2 cases because I drove 40 miles because I live in central MN and not very polite she said NO and turned away, I said I would get one case, as I was completing the sale she told me I need to call in if I want more than a case and that's the only way it could work. Said ok, I left and went 11 more miles to the Chaska Target, when I went into the store I was greeted by wonderful customer service and I asked if I could get 2 cases of Roots Cab, she said with a nice smile sure and helped me box up 2 cases and was so caring and easy to work with... I guess my suggestion is to go 11 miles more for great customer service in Chaska. In today's world and understanding some people want to limit store visits, customer service is so important

I used to love Target. No more. I purchased smart TV on Target.com to pickup at my local store on Thursday night with the intention of picking it up on Friday. It showed as being in stock, and was on sale. Shortly after making the purchase, I received a message saying the TV was no longer available for store pickup, and that I should select one of the other available options. Those were:
*Pickup at another store - Which sent me back to my local store, indicating the TV was in stock.
*Shipping - Which said it would not ship to my address.
*Another Item - The EXACT SAME TV, but at FULL PRICE, not the sales price! (Note: This option becomes even more baffling as the situation plays out!)

I called the store manager to complain about my experience and ask for the smart TV at the sales price. She checked their inventory and explained the online inventory was in error and different from their store inventory. Unless I wanted to purchase the floor display model - I did not - she did not have the TV to sell me. She offered to see if it would come on the expected Friday or Saturday deliveries or to work with me on the price of a different TV. I said that we could see if it would arrive. As an aside, I was upset to learn that a store manager can't adjust the order to get an item in order when a customer has been mistreated. Ridiculous! Of course, the TV did not arrive with the deliveries on either day.

On Saturday, I called Target.com customer service. They were unable to locate the smart TV anywhere within the Target system in order to send it to me. So Target sold me a smart TV, but wouldn't actually allow me to purchase and take ownership of said TV. Thanks, Target! As I explained to both the store manager and the customer service representatives, I can't stand Walmart. However, within 2 minutes on their website - and no hassle whatsoever - I purchased the smart TV that I wanted, and they confirmed they are preparing to ship it to me. I hate that Target's comedy of errors in this situation has made Walmart look good. Sure, Target is sending me a small gift card for my inconvenience... but I can't use it toward the TV they sold to me, but won't actually allow me to have.
