Target has a rating of 2.3 stars from 1,739 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Target most frequently mention customer service, gift card, and online order problems. Target ranks 3rd among Department Store sites.
Target is my go-to retailer for its combination of affordability, convenience, and variety. Whether I'm shopping for groceries, household essentials, or clothing, Target consistently delivers quality products at reasonable prices. I appreciate the ease of shopping both in-store and online, as well as the frequent deals and promotions available to Target Circle members
I was an avid Target fan years ago when they sold brands that people actually liked and wanted to wear. Then for some reason, who ever they have as buyers lately, are totally missing the mark, esp on clothing. I never see anyone looking (or buying) their clothes these days. I only buy here for my 5% off w/Red card purchases on certain items. Have no idea if they can 'recoup' as they've been 'in the dumps' now for years imo.
I have had great experiences with online ordering from Target. I use my RedCard and get an extra 5% off and free shipping. All orders arrive in less than a week.

My wife ordered a wedding shower gift from target online and i picked it up today. It was a large box that was so beat up it looked as if had been thrown off of three trucks. It is filthy dirty, has holes in the box, The box is crushed in places and there was no bottom to the box, just a cut piece of cardboard held on with plastic straps, there are pieces rattling around the inside (i'm sure it's broken). Not knowing when the shower was i picked it up, but i am certain my wife will return it because it is in such deplorable condition. Consider the amount of disrespect target has for it's own customers to send that off of a wedding registry for a gift... think about that next time you want to order a gift or anything from target. THINK ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE LACK A RESPECT TARGET HAS FOR IT'S OWN CUSTOMERS THE NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO ORDER SOMETHING FROM TARGET ONLINE. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN ANOTHER TARGET STORE AS LONG AS I LIVE.

I purchased a target gift card online and purchased an item on target.com. My order was cancelled by Target. I called to see what the issue because I placed the order again and it was cancelled. I'm on hold for 20 minutes while they speak to their order verification team which they won't allow me to speak with after all the issues. I'm told that I can not buy on Target online and that if I use the gift card or my email to place an order it will get cancelled. I ask if my brother can no longer buy either since I was sending the package to him and was told his address would likely be banned from purchasing also. I try to find out why and talk to someone but they tell me I can't be connected with the order verification team because this is an internal process for them. I ask them how I can use the gift card I paid for and told I can use it in the store but no online. What a bunch of garbage. I will not longer be shopping at Target at all and I would recommend you not buy gift cards because they can cancel you using them online if they decide. It is no wonder Target's business is in decline and why it is better to use other online companies to buy from. Good luck Target when you have lost even more customers through your lack of service to customers. I will be telling friends, family, and anyone who cares to stop shopping at Target and give your business to other places.

We were interested in buying a window fan and wanted to know the shipping cost. At Target.com you have to give them your name, address, and FULL CREDIT CARD DETAILS just to find out the shipping cost! We checked five other major websites and all of them quote shipping cost up front or just ask for your zip code then give you the shipping cost - no personal details or credit card details required!
We wrote to Target.com's customer service dept. and they responded TWICE by saying they can't just give us the shipping cost because it depends on several things. It was a "canned" response which they repeated a second time. And, they said just give us all that personal info and you can cancel the order at the last moment if you don't like the cost. They say they don't retain any of that info if you cancel before hitting the final Submit button. But, when we returned to the website later, they still had our personal information!
Five other online stores including Sears.com, Lowes.com, HomeDepot.com, KMart.com and Costco.com all provided shipping cost WITHOUT making you enter personal information (other than your zip code maybe).
So, if you value your privacy, don't shop at TARGET.COM

Target is great to buy! The only thing is that sometimes their prices are not the best. You will find it cheaper, somewhere else, well some items not all.

Ridiculous and almost fraudulent. I ordered a PS4 when orders were accepted and they said I would get it wihin 10 days after release date. Today they send an email and it states delivery 1/2/14 while the console gets released 11/15. I called the hotline and they flat out said it is what it is. I had ordered it due to the fact that I had a giftcard and now this... so I spoke to a lady and first she stated that there is nothing she can do and when asking for a supervisor she stated she is and when persisting she all of a sudden found someone else... they had the nerves to say. No worries you will get a game I preordered on time... whithout the system... how awesome... this is switch and bait and unacceptable and fraudulent advertisment...

Do not bother purchasing from them. They use UPS, which means you will never get your package!
I have lived all over the country over the past ten years, and never ONCE has a UPS deliverer EVER actually attempted to deliver a package by actually knocking or ringing the doorbell! At least not on the first attempt. I know this because due to my job I'm often home during the time when they claim they've delivered it. I also often have very loud doorbells, so even if I was in another room, or even the shower, I'd be able to hear it. And my doorbell has never been broken in these situations - I've always tested them immediately after (and this is in apartment buildings where you couldn't just knock, because it is just the door to the lobby or front gate). Sometimes if they've actually bothered to leave a delivery attempt notice (which now they rarely do), I can get them to actually deliver by first contacting support and then leaving a detailed (and yes, patronizing, but that's what it takes) note instructing them how you 1.) ring the doorbell 2.) wait for an answer and 3.) give me the package. Now I guess after the first "attempt," they just leave it at an "access point," because they say they "assume if no one his home at the first attempt, they won't be home at the second." Well, it seems the whole time they already assume no one is home during business hours, and just leave attempt notices without actually attempting!

Found some items online that were way cheaper than other online stores... shipping can take a while but for the price I don't mind waiting especially for things I don't need right away.

DO NOT SHOP ON TARGET.com…I REPEAT DO NOT SHOP A TARGET.COM. I ordered a PS4 online and got a toolbox instead then after talking to customer service and them telling me t can't be shipped back go to target. Mind you I live in the FL keys there is no Target for 2 hes. So I drive all they way there and what do they say at Target. We can't help you. SERIOUSLY no one was accountable I could not believe such a big brand store could be like that. NEVER SHOP ON TARGET.COM THEY ARE SCAMMERS!
Tip for consumers:
Process with customer service was unsatisfying and difficult
Products used:
None received a tool kit instead of a 322.00 PS4

I decided to delete my account because I wasn't using it and got tired of the incessant emails despite opting out of marketing. Through multiple devices, I logged onto the website only to find that there was no way to delete my account. I entered the live support chat after searching to no avail, and when I asked how to get rid of an account, I was informed that Target does not let users do this. At most, an account can only be "disabled." What possible reason could there be for this other than to abuse user's data privacy? Why not let users delete their accounts as most websites do, including other major retailers? For this reason, I have to rate Target.com one star. This practice is alarming and should be a warning to users that this company cannot be trusted. Your information is not safe with them because they will hold it hostage even after you try to leave.
Along with this, the chat agent rudely and abruptly disconnected after refusing to disable my account and instead sent a phone number before I could finish responding. I refreshed the page, and a new agent disabled it easily. This was odd but completely reaffirmed my decision to disable my account.

Without any doubt the worst Target on the planet! Stay away. Consistently rude managers. Corporate does nothing about them. Bad managers =bad employees...

This store is much better than the others, will likely continue to come here far into the future as long as the quality and customer service keeps up.

I love shopping here. Great online selection. Inventory is not always accurate., which is the only reason I don't give 5 stars. Instock items ship quick. Great store!

I was trying to purchase several items from Target using my Redcard. They now reqire a PIN # which I entered even though they have gone to a chip system. However the card machine kept saying my PIN was incorrect. The cashier said I had to reset my PIN. I tried to do this on the spot but their automated phone system was very frustrating and I couldn't contact a real person for a long time. Finally when I did contact a real person I felt they were unconcerned and non helpful. They needed my wife's SSN to proceed and I could only go through their automated system. I left my purchases and went to Walmart. Target is making it very difficult to do business with. Combine this with their new transgender bathroom policy and I am quite satisfied never going back into a Target store again.

Dont ever order anything from Target.com. I cancelled an order and was assured it was cancelled. The online status reflected it as well. I tried calling customer service and the phone operators were terrible overseas incompetent employees.
My order is in transit to an address which I will not be. I cannot reroute or cancel the shipment.
BECAUSE OF THE AWFUL EXPERIENCE, I AM CANCELLING MY RED CARD AND WILL NEVER SHOP AT TARGET AGAIN!

ORDERED A SHAVER, TARGET LOST THE ORDER, BUT DID CHARGE MY CARD.
HAD TO REORDER SHAVER AGAIN. LOST THE ORDER FOR THE SECOND TIME. FINALLY AFTER 3 WEEKS MY RAZOR ARRIVED. THEN I GET AN EMAIL THAT I ONLY HAD 5 DAYS TO REORDER. I DON'T THINK THE RIGHT HAND KNOWS WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING AT TARGET.COM. I TRIED TO EMAIL CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND COULD NEVER GET THROUGH. THE PHONE CALLS WEREN'T MUCH BETTER, TOO MANY FOREIGNERS

This shop used to be trendy and have nice clothes to buy. But now I don't like their style. I can't find anything for myself. High prices for what they sell now.

I ordered something online at target and accidentally messed up one number on my address. I realized this almost immediately and tried to correct my mistake. There is no way to do this (really, no way to do this) so I then tried to cancel my order rather than have it go to some person I do not know. This apparently you also cannot do. I was told over the phone that you can only "request a cancellation" but you cannot definitely cancel anything you order from there. A week and a half after my request I received an email that said that the order would ship later than it originally was to be sent before all of this request to cancel stuff happened. I then called again and after being put on hold by 3 different people I was told that no one knew if it had been cancelled or not. They said all I could do at this point was wait to either get an email saying it had shipped or if it had been cancelled. If it was being shipped I would just have to wait until I got the object, which in my case meant that some random person would get it and then I would just lose a chunk of money and could do nothing about it. Im done with Target.com. Ill just use a company that will let you adjust or cancel your order if you need to. This is absolutely absurd.
Tip for consumers:
if its possible to give this a 0/5 I would

Being the front door to my local Target is about 500 feet from my front door... we obviouslt shop there. Mostly for groceries as their private label Pantry Pride is decent food at really good prices.

I love Target for the most part, but get very aggravated at over paying for sale items. Virtually every time I shop at Target, they end up charging me the original price of an item and not the advertised sale price. I try to remember to take pictures of the sale price underneath the item, but I don't always have time. Also, it's very difficult to find someone to help you in the grocery section except for produce. I often have to ask taller customers to reach things on the top shelf for me. Target should make things more reachable for shorter people or have employees checking the shelves more often than they do. Target is usually very clean which I appreciate. I mostly shop in their grocery department, but occasionally buy things from electronics and home and garden. It's a long walk from grocery to the home section to get light bulbs. They should have staples like that in the grocery section, but I know they want you to walk a mile so you can spend more in their store. Maybe if they were more accommodating to their customers, they would be making more profits!

Target is really good! They have everything! Food, makeup, clothes, ect. Ect. But it's kinda pricey. I'm not saying its bad but with taxes and everything else its more pricey than Walmart.

I own Air BnB properties, Which means I have to furnish the properties. I've been using different companies but recently I ordered two couches from target. Also made sure the estimated delivery time is appropriate so I can get the show running. I just received the two couches yesterday and they are the wrong orders! They told me that I have to return these two couches and then they can start the order for sending the right ones. The delivery slip has all the right information that I ordered so clearly this is targets fault! After speaking fast rated with the senior representative they told me that since it's their fault they're willing to reimburse me $40! Now I have to wait 10 days which I could be making $100 a day for each condo puts me out $2000 dollars just waiting for target to do their part. I am very upset that the most they can help me out with is $40. If nobody from target really cares about my business then I sure you this, that I will never buy any HomeGoods from target ever again! I feel insulted by target and I see that they don't really care about the customer but more for what's best for them
