I am a vendor and i am very dissatisfied with the customer service I have received at The Knot. If there were another website out there that was similar I would leave in a heartbeat. I think they are able to take advantage of this and screw over their vendors. Really hate that I feel the need to continue using their services.
I think this is one of the best wedding sites out there and their magazine is also a great resource. They list tons of places to get favors, they have ideas for bridesmates dresses and so much more. The community was great as well because when you are getting married it is good to be able to talk with other newly engaged people. So, if I ever get married... again... I will use this site. I saw a bunch of people commenting on this site so thought I would also throw in my 2 cents.
We were invited to a wedding. The bride and groom used the knot for their wedding arrangements so we booked our hotel through the knot's website. I received an email saying that it was a prepaid reservation but when we arrived, the hotel had no record of our payment. The knot gave them our reservation but not our payment. We had to pay AGAIN at the hotel so we could have a room for the night! When I called the knot customer service line to try and straighten it out, I got put on hold and was then emailed a claim number. Ridiculous waste of time. Never book through the knot! Book with the hotel directly. Also, the knot charged us $40 more than the hotel for the same booking. What a racquet!
We've been a TheKnot advertiser for about 5 years and I can say that their services are legit. We've spent months working on our profile and getting the best pictures possible and we do see a small return. The only problem is that The Knot costs nearly twice as much as their nearest competitor and from a web development standpoint it is filled with glitches and problems. Their tech team clearly has no clue how to build a fully functioning website of that size. We pay around $1,000.00 a month and I know other vendors that pay as much as $3,000 a month to advertise on The Knot. We currently pay about $500.00 a month for similar services on WeddingWire and elsewhere.
I love the Knot! I have used it for so many things. It has seriously been my savior while planning my wedding. I'm pretty active on the message boards, so my favorite part of TK is definitely being able to chat with other brides about wedding planning. I actually found my dress on their website when I was just browsing one day; saw it, loved it, tried it on that weekend and bought it. I bought my favors through them too! Sometimes the message boards go down, but it's not for long- that's my only complaint.
This site is dangerous to any vendor, especially the ones that they are aimed to service. I am actually in the middle of starting legal action against them for unauthorized transactions. The original rep lied about their contract policies. After he had me signed up, he was no longer my account manager. He promissed a 3 month trial, but he disappeared after that my new account manager said that I was lying. Finally I said never again, but I will finish out my year contract. After paying for a year of bad leads, my 4th or 5th account manager talked very nice, but done the same thing. I sent an email to cancel before the 5 day policy, before my anniversary date, but they started another year contract without my consent. I have the email from the account manager saying that they cancelled my account, in writing. They have already taken 1 unauthorized payment and when I try to call my account manager, she hits the refuse call button. Finally I had to file fraud on them through my financial institute and had to block them.
Summary:
Leads seem fake from no conversion rate
Customer service does not exist after they get a contract
Honesty is not something they offer
Takes unauthorized payments/Theft
Tells you you're wrong
Site is a little buggy, hard to reply to a lead through their website
Reps are very shady in so many ways
I was simply just testing the tools and layouts to create a wedding website. I clicked save in order to return later to finish and avoided the "share" button, yet when searching my name the half finished website was visible on google! I've used many other website creators before and this has not happened other websites will not go live until you click published or share; therefore, I am very disappointed in this service and theknot.com.
Attempted to book a hotel through The Knot. Looked like a very professional looking website. That's where the professionalism ends. The site automatically plugs in the dates around the wedding venue. I did not need those dates, so I adjusted them for 1 night. Somewhere along the booking process, the dates were changed back. I had already clicked the book button before I caught the error. I called their support to help me with the issue. The first person I spoke to said they would escalate the issue to resolve it. The next thing I know I receive a cancellation notice. I had asked the first person I spoke to if would be easier to just cancel and re-book, he said there would be cancellation charges if I did that. So I was already pretty unhappy to hear that. Every other booking site gives you 24hrs to cancel no questions asked. Once I received the cancellation, I knew I was going to have a long drawn out problem. The second person I spoke to was no help at all, would not connect me with a manager, offered me a voucher but could not tell me how much it would be for, just wasted my time. Before ending the call I informed them I needed to hear back from their management in 24hrs or I would be calling my credit card company and issuing a charge back. Nothing. Keep in mind, I did not asked for my booking to be cancelled, I just needed the date changed, they cancelled it. What an awful start to what should be a great trip for a very happy occasion.
Hi Rich,
Thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not up to standards. We would like the opportunity to talk and investigate your feedback further. If you wouldn't mind sending us a personal message with your business details, we will be happy to get in touch and discuss this matter with you further! Thank you and we look forwarding to speaking with you soon.
Iv always loved the knot because they give you great ideas for your big day. Not only do they have their own website and magezine but they also have an ap that you can get on your phone so check them out.
Was almost completed my wedding website through The Knot.com and then it stops saving my updates. I then receive no response from my email through their customer service. First off... I should say it has been very difficult to navigate and building your wedding website is not user friendly... often deleting things if you are trying to add something more to the same page. And now this. I have spent hours on it and now have to go back to the beginning. I just really liked the template...
I attempted to create a website for my wedding and even set it up to have guests RSVP. It has been nothing but a headache! DO NOT use the site. Spend the money on RSVP cards or chose a more reliable site. Also, the customer service was not helpful when wording on the site needed to be changed. Save yourself some stress and use a different site.
We've printed and sealed our invitations with the website information included and now can't get access to the site to update the information. We've been holding off sending the invitations waiting for a response the Knot and are hearing nothing back. There's no number to call to speak with a live person. We're at the point where we have to just send out the invitations and apologize to our guests on Facebook for the Knot's crappy website and complete lack of customer service. I literally hate this company for adding stress to an already stressful experience. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THEM!
My credit card info was stolen, and the thief used that info to make a $246 purchase on the knot. I had never heard of this company and had to look it up. I notified my credit card company and protested the charge. I also contacted the knot and requested information about to whom the gift was sent, so that I could include that in my police report. They refused, The Knot thought it would be appropriate to protect the identity of the thief so that I could not report them to law enforcement. That should tell you everything you need to know about the ethics of this pathetic company. I recommend you not do business with them.
Hi John,
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your stolen credit card. Please email help@theknot.com, we'd love to look further into this issue and work on a resolution with you directly. Again, I am so very sorry and we look forward to hearing from you and getting this resolved. :)
Do not use The Knot for wedding guest hotel reservations. They have hotel cancellation policies with penalties that the hotels themselves do not have. Book your hotel reservation directly with the hotel. I am still trying to resolve a penalty for cancelling more than 2 months before the reservation date!
Hi Mariah,
I'm so sorry for any confusion when making your reservation. The Knot does not offer any reservation services directly, but we do partner with a company called HotelPlanner to offer reservation services. You can reach out to the HotelPlanner support team directly for assistance with your reservation via the contact information below:

We know that Hotel Planner would love to work with you on a resolution to this issue. If there is anything else I can do to help, please email help@theknot.com and we would be happy to assist however possible! :)
Karla and the Knot have been great, not only as an advertising tool for our business, but also to help answer questions about trends in the bridal business! I have been to several of their training meetings in person and online and have always walked away feeling I learned something new!
I also ordered during cyber week and have not received my items. I called and was told they had more orders than expected and I should have by Jan 15. She assured me what great deals I got and I would whole heartedly agree except for the fact that I don't have the products and won't have by Christmas. A company should not advertise Christmas deals if they cannot fulfill the orders.
I couldn't be any more disappointed with The Knot, in regard to our wedding website. Due to their "upgrades" we were suddenly unable to log into our account, though it was still populating in Google searches; problem being: guests were extremely confused, as many of our wedding details have changed!
I've literally never experienced such POOR customer service. The provide a phone number and email for you to "reach" them at, and I have yet to hear back from anyone regarding the problem (it's been almost a month, with consistent efforts to reach out and get help).
I will never frequent their site again, and am actively advising friends and family to STAY AWAY! This has caused too much unnecessary stress throughout our planning process. I've been nothing short of plain disgusted.
I ordered custom napkins and some bubbles a long time in advance so I can see how it looks and possibly order some more.
However, it has been 3 weeks now and my order is still processing. When I wrote to customer service they said that because they had a large sale they are delayed, which is just a bunch of nonsense because they went out yesterday with what they call their "biggest sale of the year" and I couldn't imagine somebody who is still delayed with their orders from the last "huge" sale they had to get themselves into another one. They are just slow and irresponsible. I order things weeks after I ordered that and they are already here a long time ago.
There are plenty of wedding websites and shops online, there is no need to use one that's not reliable enough with something as important as your wedding shopping!
Choose the harshest punishment you can find over using TheKnot.com for your wedding needs. For example, if you have an opportunity to spend the winter in Siberia or perhaps a few summer months in the pest-ridden, hazardous and life-threatening jungles of the Amazon basin - jump all over these opportunities in lieu of plainly ruining your life by having to deal with the horrendously bad website developed by TheKnot. This website can and will reliably destroy your wedding and relationship(s) with your loved one(s).
The site is great and full of good info but DO NOT order from theknotshop. I placed an order on 11/27 and over a month later have gotten 1 item from my order. I've called several times and they assure me it will ship out that day and they will over night it but it has never happened. Terrible customer service. 100% would not recommend anyone to order from them!
Answer: My honest opinion... do not use theknot.com for your wedding. It crashes often and can be extremely frustrating. Believe me... I used it and was locked into using it because it was on all of my invitations. My best advice: use weddingwire.com. But, if you're not going to listen to my advice or are locked in and stuck as I was, go to your wedding website (not in preview mode) and click on guest list from the dashboard... well... After 9 attempts, TK will not load properly so that I can step you through it (everything else on my computer works great). Sorry, that's all I have for you. I hate theknot.com!
Answer: Tell them the same thing they say to you when you contact them for help in any way! "I don't think it is in our best interest! You are on your own... Good luck with that!"
The Knot has a rating of 1.7 stars from 390 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with The Knot most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wedding wire. The Knot ranks 79th among Wedding Planning sites.
