I went in to find a bottle or two and met an incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly woman who was wonderful. Made my visit much more enjoyable to have a little assistance without being pushed in one direction or another. She made it clear that her tastes are bound to be different, but was able to direct me to something which would match my likes and I'll definitely be back to that specific location. I find the website to be helpful as it can search tons of different vintners and varieties, telling you whether it's available at your local store or at nearby ones. The website worked just great for me to research and narrow things down, and the in-store experience was top notch. I'll be back to search again soon!
Wanted to buy 6 bottles Caymus 50th Anniversary. Internet search popups show $69.97 for the 750L at Total Wine but when I drove to the Union NJ store and showed this on my cell, the customer service guy said that's likely from a store in CA and their price is $10+ higher - $80.07 for the 750L. Sketchy- and convenient- and a time burn. I drove back down Rt. 22 to Vine Republic in Mountainside / Westfield NJ and they had this for $74.99. Worse, Vine Republic had the 1L for $84.99 versus Total Wine price in Union NJ $109.97...yep, almost $25 higher. I purchased 6 bottles of the 1L from Vine Republic and left happy. Total Wine is definitely not the low cost provider and the constant pimping of their in-house Winery Direct offerings exhausting. Google search for all the above to confirm pretty easy- just use the Union NJ store as home location. Search Caymus 50th see what pops up for you- then see real price when you select store- a weak bait-and-switch. My photos are in different form vs accepted on this site- see my review on yelp for all photos.
I just came back from Cary, NC store. I had ordered online but inventory said they had only 5 of my wine. I needed 12 for discount so I ordered 1.5 L bottles to meet minim. Way over ordering. So when I picked up I asked for raincheck on sale item. They said they had plenty of what I wanted. So Aaron credited my online order and charged me for exactly what I wanted at sale price. So I got sale price plus case discount!

I went to my local store in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. I had my minor son with me and the manager wouldn't let me make the purchase. I was the one making the purchase and showed her my id. She told me that I would have to come back in 24 hours to make my purchase. This is total inconvenience to a customer who is able to make a purchase.I understand the law but this need to be addressed with your managers. Unacceptable and inconvenience to the customers. You just lost a loyal customer!
I have ordered whiskey multiple times and wine several times from this site. It is interesting that sometimes I am NOT told when something comes in and then the order is cancelled with Total Wine saying, "Oh well, your problem." I am thinking perhaps employees want the product or maybe Total Wine over sold the product. Anyway, they don't always notify me when the product arrives. They never give you an expected arrival date either. The usual is a one time email out of-the-blue which can easily end up in spam, and then they take the product! So if by chance, their roto-mail ends up in spam, you are hosed and the local store is delighted. You local store account NEVER shows the order. You must go to a special website--why would you go there vs your total wine account? I have no relationship with the local store. Which means they NEVER CONTACT me even if I go there multiple times while my product is there! Every time something like this happens they point the finger at Concierge Sales who then refuses to help and they then blame the local store. It is finger pointing extraordinaire! Ugh! Total Wine does not care about customers at all.
Tip for consumers:
Don't buy from concierge unless you are in the mode for a gamble. Total Wine could care less if you receive your promised product.

We've been going to Total Wine 4-5 years and your customer service is terrible! Employees NEVER say hello can I help you! I told this to Dee the cashier. She's the only one who greeted me and the customer next to me AGREED! You NEED to train 'management' and employees in customer service.
Several times I have an encountered advertising of specific wines indicating a vintage and the number of points given by the reviewer, but a different vintage is in the bin for sale. I have questioned store associates about this on numerous occasions and always get an excuse that it is simply an oversight. This has happened in stores in various cities. The excuse normally comes with an apology and an offer to find something else.
This happens too often to simply be an oversight, but is indicative of a corporate pattern of intentional false marketing. This observation was recently affirmed when I ordered a particular vintage online and received a different vintage. Of course, anyone who understands wine understands that each vintage is different, so a rating of 93 for a particular year will likely not be exactly the same for another year. When I questioned Total Wines customer service about what they had shipped I was told that there is no guarantee that they will ship what I actually ordered.
It is surprising that more people are not complaining about this problem, but perhaps Total Wines' customer base is not comprised of true wine connoisseurs.
If you want to rely on ratings from the various wine reviewers, be sure to look at the actual bottle and compare it to what the rating was for a particular vintage.
And shame on Total Wine for misleading your customers.
Because you use FEDEX as your delivery, my package has been in Memphis Tennessee for over one week!
I don't have a problem with " total wine"... my complain is your delivery... fedex SUCK!
Got my elderly mother out the other day, and took her to Total Wine & More to get a few things for the holidays, as we had heard how big the place was, and what an awful experience it was. Firstly, as soon as we walked in, a "greeter" chastised us for our "improper" mask placement ( it was fine). We were going to leave right then, but as we had driven 23 miles, we decided to stick it out. Yes, the store is vast, but the signage was terrible, and as we wandered around looking for certain items, we decided to ask a worker for guidance. He said he was "busy" & told us to search for someone else, before walking away. The second person we found was clearly inexperienced, and the third person begrudgingly listened to our queries, but really couldn't appear to care less. We left before getting anything, and on the way out, stopped a manager to tell him what happened, and he replied, "You can write a letter to the company." Trust me, the dollar or two you might save is NOT worth being treated like that.

Apparently they got my credit card information and stole my money! I have never been to California. I live alone in Alabama and am allergic to alcohol. I am an older disabled woman and I cannot afford this robbery! HOW DID YOI GET MY CREDIT CARD INFO AND WHY WON'T YOU GIVE ME THE TRANSACTION DETAILS IF YOU ARE NOT GUILTY! I WANT TO MAKE A POLICE REPORT AND YOU WON'T GIVE ME THE FLIPPIN INFORMATION SO YOU DID IT! CROOKS!
Worst customer service I have ever experienced! I approached two floor employees at various times to help me find a particular Champagne. They both said they would check stock and went away to check and never returned. I then approached a third employee who was on a house computer in the rear of the store and asked if they had other Nouveau Beaujolais other than the stock at the front door. He was quite annoyed that I had the audacity to interrupt him. He said quite sarcastically that he was checking stock for a customer but I didn't see anyone within eyesight. He told me whatever is at the front is it So while I was still waiting for the two MIA employees to report back to me as to the status of the Champagne stock I found another brand of Nouveau Beaujolais in the red wine aisle. At the time, I meandered by the so called "Champagne Tasting Booth". What a farce! The selection was limited to two Rose Sparkling Wine, One Prosecco and one Champagne from France. The only exceptional experience were the cashiers. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Maybe Total Wine should consider putting the cashiers on the floor and place the incompetent floor employees behind the counter. A couple of good sommeliers would definitely be as asset.
From walking in the front door and asking Christian and Jesse showing me where I could find what I was looking for with some excellent recommendations to Priscilla cashing me was a great experience.

I have used their in-store pickup for years and now I use the curbside pickup to avoid human contact during this virus period/ The orders are ALWAYS correct and delivered promptly. Kudos!
So... we've been buying wine for a long time. There is never going to be one store that satisfies everyone with every interest. I'd say the majority of the audience served by literally every total wine store is ranging from Franzia to some interesting, (yet not interesting enough to be compelling), old word finds. In the states where they can also sell booze, they actually do a great job with knock-off off-brand items, (e.g. Tower Vodka is their label and is a close match with Tito's with a great reduction in price. When you are in an area with limited selection, this place is A-Ok.
And here is my one gripe: if you are this wine mega store, ostensibly pulling down gazillions during a booze-soaked pandemic, WHY THE ACTUAL HECK CAN'T YOU OFFER A MIXED CASE DISCOUNT?!? Seriously, if every small bottle shop that's just barely making margins to pay rent can offer this, why cant Total Wine offer this (the response I got was "it has to be by the same maker"... I'm sorry, are you serious?!?). /rant

Huge selection! Love to go there and try new products. Even took a class there that was very informative!
That is all. The place sucks! Don't shop there. Go to a real wine shop. This is corporate incompetence at its finest.
Getting really fed up with staff that cannot process a check payment, only a few staff can use their inefficient machine
Tip for consumers:
Somebody knew how to process a check payment

I was with my 17 year old adopted kid in the store and just because my minor child was there I couldn't buy a bottle of rum.
