The tips you gave me worked like a charm. Chase is actually a Labradoodle. 4 months, extremely intelligent, born and raised in a barn until I got him. He only had one accident in the house and was completely housebroken in 2 days. His buddy is a Maltese he loves to hump, and Charlie snaps at him every time and growls. I was told it's a status thing on who's dominant. Your tips worked great. Thank you so very much.
I would first like to thank you for the emails. I greatly appreciate them! Your approaches have helped me with King already. When he's jumping and I simply ignore his behavior, as you said, he stops within a very short amount of time. Also, praising him with just simply saying good has worked great. I'm not sure if that has worked or made a difference for anyone else but it truly did for me. Thank you for free tips and advice. I'd not be fortunate enough to have something like this otherwise.
Great information. Appreciated talking with Sally. I didn't realize I was making the problems worse.
Housetraining; getting puppy back to sleep in middle of night
I am so glad Sally called. I thought she was calling this morning, but this evening worked out fine. She had great things to help me.
Our newly acquired Beagle is chewing up everything! Sally talked with me about teaching "leave it" and the three parts of "fetch: get it, bring it, and drop it" and I now have some things to work on with her. We also talked about the right chew toys and treat balls and food scatter as ways to keep her busy.
I feel better about our rescued Goldendoodle and will write down when he actually potties so I know his schedule. Great idea!
Concerned about the fact our rescued dog does not potty in the morning and I don't want to put him in his crate for a couple more hours after he eats if he doesn't potty.
I really appreciate all the help and ideas I got from Sally. We will change some of the things we are doing and see if we get better results.
Getting our puppy to pee and poop outdoors instead of in the house.
Emily was amazing and provided tons of useful information to deal with my puppy's separation anxiety.
I learned about thunder shirt for dogs to help them cope with anxiety.
I would tell them to sign up
I was very surprised by how the call was informative and information was very clear. Emily was super professional and helpful.
That my puppy needs from 16 to 18 hours of sleep to promote good behavior.
I would tell them to sign up for sure because it’s amazing resources for affordable price.
Emily was very helpful and answered all my questions. Very impressed with the follow up information that was sent by email.
Making sure the puppy gets enough sleep during the day to avoid excessive biting and aggressive play.
Absolutely, yes.
This call was wonderful. I got some great ideas. I look forward to talking to the trainer again to get more ideas for training.
Potty training a 1 year old Havanese. Sally suggested the use of belly bands, making notes when he actually potties so I know his schedule and can get him out at those times.
I like to talk to Sally and Paula. This was a nice call. I wanted to get them caught up on what my dogs are doing.
Teaching my dogs to stay
I feel so, so much better. We got two puppies and after we had had them about a month I found out about sibling syndrome and have separated them for everything ever since. Sally said I don't have to separate them all the time and explained when and why to separate them and things we should be working on. I feel so much better.
Sibling Syndrome - it's a thing! I will continue to separate them for training and some playtimes and walking. My husband and I can each work with a dog.
I really didn't think that training two dogs would be so difficult. Sally thinks I should have trained them to a potty spot in the yard and not be walking and walking them and be pulled in two directions all the time. I am not sure I can re-train them.
I wanted help with leash training, but what Sally told me sounds like a lot of work to train two dogs to walk nicely on leashes.
This will be a major thing if we can get him to quit jumping on and harassing our older dog.
Build a schedule and divert Jock from biting Ellie and don't let it escalate
If they are willing to put in the time and learn the modules and do the work, yes
We love our little boy, but he needs some training and Sally told us how to get going on the biggest problems.
All the training methods we talked about - 3 parts of fetch, leave it, no bite with time out - make perfect sense - so glad to know how to teach them
It was a pleasure talking to Sally and I learned several things that will really help in training our new puppy.
Potty training a male Dachshund and teaching him that we do not play on command (esp not when we are in bed or watching TV)
The detailed ebook is very informative and helpful for the training and grooming of our puppy. We enjoyed the book very much. As a matter of fact we groomed our Baby yesterday after the read and we were amazed at our work!
Very pleasant e-mails and great information on how to train your puppy! The tips I've gotten has really helped me to help my puppy!
I had talked to Sally 3-4 weeks ago and we had just gotten our Great Pyrenees puppy. She had great suggestions and ideas and told me to check in every few weeks with new questions and updates, so tonight was our first check-in. She thought we are doing quite well!
Keeping him from grabbing or hurting a chicken. We are teaching "leave it" and walking him on leash around the chickens.
Got some great tips for training my puppy and also some encouragement in the things I'm doing
How to start training him to herd and protect the chickens instead of thinking of them as play things
I feel very encouraged after talking to Sally. We didn't think that our "new to us" dog was doing very well at adjusting, but Sally thought we are doing all the right things and the dog is doing better after only a week.
We acquired a 5.5 year old Pomeranian who is quite upset with being re-homed and has bitten us a couple of times. We are doing most of what Sally suggested and are seeing the dog feeling a bit more relaxed.
I appreciate this trainer so, so much. As a first-time dog mom, I knew nothing so the course is wonderful and Sally gave me lots of good ideas and suggestions that make so much sense!
How to teach and use "leave it" - great command and great psychology
Emily was very concerned about my needs and gave me some wonderful advice to make my day easier.
I did not know to train my dog to take a nap every day. This is wonderful.
Yes definitely.
We are delighted when Sally calls us. She is fun and has great ideas and good insights.
Separation anxiety barking - talked about citronella collar and calming treats
Jumping on and licking guests - she said to let her greet guests and then put her on leash and keep her with one of us and give her something to lick or chew
We were pleased to have the opportunity to get input from Sally. She is very personable and has great ideas and good insights. A progression of steps we can take to help Sadie feel confident we will return was discussed. We are fortunate that we have a personal trainer a phone call away.
Separation anxiety - leave at least once every day for 15 minutes - send dog to place with something to do
This is a great service! I had never heard of the things Sally told me and am excited to start training "leave it" and start doing an evening routine.
I never thought about doing an evening routine that would prepare my dog to go to bed and Sally gave me great ideas for using up her energy and then calming her for bed.
Super helpful call. Sally keyed right in on all the key issues we need to work on right now with our puppy. Great ideas and simple instructions.
Greeting grandchildren without jumping; not biting us all the time.
I am so glad I signed up for a call. Sally was so encouraging and gave me very specific instructions about how to work with Carol. I am so grateful.
Carol is so possessive of me that she bites my partner and now attacks our new dog even though they got along great the first 6 weeks. Sally told me how to teach "leave it" and how to use it to help her to quit this kind of behavior, but she also recommended a strict routine of training and of spending time with Carol.
I feel better about what I am supposed to be doing with my dog.
I discovered I was expecting too much of my puppy at this age and was training for too long for her attention span. Sally gave me examples of ways to train for "heel" and "sit" and "stay" and "fetch" for short periods and be more effective.
I just loved everything Sally told me. I never had thought about the behaviors of my German Shepherds being herding behaviors, but when Sally explained them, it was obvious this one is herding me to do what she wants. Sally explained how to change that to put me in control instead of the dog by teaching her a command or trick or obedience thing to do when she does that. So amazing and helpful!
My original question was how to get my German Shepherd to quit biting and chewing on our hands and arms, but in telling Sally when she does it, Sally realized she is herding us to play with her in her way. She was able to give us ideas on how to change the interaction to put us in control, but still give the dog attention.
I now have a plan and tools to teach and use with my puppy. This was a great call.
Getting my puppy to poop outdoors and to quit biting me.
