I just can't find a way to keep my dog from having accidents but I think the ideas I got tonight might help. Have been recording time each time he is taken out for poo & pee. I've never heard of a cross-body or hands-free leash, but that sounds like it could help solve several of our problems and then if I can train the commands Sally gave me, we will be on the right track

I keep getting emails offerings a course at a discounted rate which expires at midnight the same day & yet is still available a couple of days later!? As a scam it's pretty poor because this just gives it away by making you suspicious. Having waited we've actually managed to train our shih tzu ourselves:-)
I fully agree and understand the training method for my Shih Tzu Smokey and they have helped us both immensely. Smokey is one of the smartest dogs I ever had and he actually showed me what Love is really about. That's a different story but just to say this he left someone who was watching him when I was in the hospital from a bicycle accident and traveled over 3 miles across a interstate highway and a busy business street to get home at the apartment we lived in. 2 days before I got out, he's my wonder dog, wonderful wonder, ain't no money could pay his worth and nothing can separate us now. But he's getting better at letting me know when he goes outside, but we can spend a good half hour outside and he will again come inside and mark his territory. I'm hoping he will outgrow this habit as I do use the spray and clean up so there is no smell. He is very stubborn and trying to get my attention so I am trying the method of what you were saying by ignoring him to see if that might help.

When he's jumping and I simply ignore his behavior, as you said, he stops within a very short amount of time. Also, praising him with just simply saying good has worked great. I wont lie it is still a work in progress but I can most defiantly see that its working as Prince is already calming down a lot sooner than he normally does when jumping up on anyone he can get close enough to, he actually has started to listen to me now and understands what hearing my voice at these times mean.
