The tips you gave me worked like a charm. Chase is actually a Labradoodle. 4 months, extremely intelligent, born and raised in a barn until I got him. He only had one accident in the house and was completely housebroken in 2 days. His buddy is a Maltese he loves to hump, and Charlie snaps at him every time and growls. I was told it's a status thing on who's dominant. Your tips worked great. Thank you so very much.
I would first like to thank you for the emails. I greatly appreciate them! Your approaches have helped me with King already. When he's jumping and I simply ignore his behavior, as you said, he stops within a very short amount of time. Also, praising him with just simply saying good has worked great. I'm not sure if that has worked or made a difference for anyone else but it truly did for me. Thank you for free tips and advice. I'd not be fortunate enough to have something like this otherwise.

Barking when we leave him, crate training
I was glad to talk to a trainer and get some new ideas to try. The ones I'd gotten previously were backfiring on me.
Sally suggested putting a little fence around 2 or 3 sides of my patio for the dog to think he was in his crate and to not put his leash on him to potty there.
The video courses I was fortunate to watch, showed experience and professionalism in the presentations.

Biting - I learned I can use a time out
Very helpful suggestions. I thought I was using "leave it," but discovered I had not taught it so that is why my dog doesn't do it.

Housetraining - Sally explained about sphincter development
Sally's tips were very helpful. We are anxious to start using them and see if we can get our girl to pay better attention to us.
She barks at EVERYTHING out the window, she won't let us pet her or cuddle her, and she is a mess on a walk. Sally taught us how to teach and use "leave it" for barking and picking up stuff on a walk and suggested running our hands along her sides instead of from the top down. She also suggested putting a sheet on the couch to make it cooler for her.

Very encouraging. Sally felt I was doing a great job and just added a few tips and the "leave it" command.
Scratching our wood floor and barking at us, so Sally told me how to teach her "leave it" and to use a time out as needed.
This was different because I was really upset about my wife's breast cancer diagnosis and her treatment plan and Sally explained it to me so I feel more comfortable with all that. She then suggested that I not add anything new to what I'm doing with my dog until we get the schedule of my wife's treatment down and then sign up for another call and she'll add a couple of things to what we are doing. Whew!
Getting the dog to not climb on furniture
I learned a lot and enjoyed talking with Sally about herding dogs.
We talked about several things - down for getting off of furniture, stay, and come as well as drop it and leave it and heel.

We've made major headway with potty training since talking to you! We are so excited to try anything you tell us.
Learned that as a baby, our 11-week-old puppy does not have fully developed sphincters so we can't expect her to know when she has to pee or poop in time to tell us. Also realized we need to set an alarm and get up and take her out at night at least once if not twice.

I have hope. Sally reassured me that I can get them both trained, but it is a big job and I have to do some things separately with them.
They potty outdoors just fine, but then they sometimes pee or poop indoors as well. Sally gave me ideas for taking them out individually to pee and poop before I go back to work at noon to help them completely empty their bladders and bowels.
