I registered there couple years ago and was looking for friends while traveling abroad.
I thought people go there for the same reasons. Or to find hosts, help foreigners with housing, cultural excursions etc.
As my experience showed, this website is mostly for men, who are looking for sex or escort, which wasn't ok with me. I wrote it on my profile even(guess nobody reads that)
I didn't expect that I would get to know some jerks and rude men there. I press the button "to ignore" them and it's okay. Maybe support team could somehow pay more attention to such profiles and eliminate them. Because rude manners and behavior online is terrible. Some of those guys treat girls as sh*t. And it's not okay, I think.
Though, it's great that not all of men there are so. I found some really nice people: girls and guys with whom we're friends through the years.
So maybe it's not a best site among travel sites, but not the worst and you can try it.

There may be a small number of real girls who really want to travel/adventure. I can understand the supply and demand economics of asking guys to pay only. Hell, don't we have all the ladies' night in clubs? But whoever runs travelgirls.com apparently doesn't put much effort separating themselves from escort/scam/porn sites. If I have to guess, this is run by some Eastern European kids (boys and girls) who have relatively little knowledge about the real world in the U.S. or Western Europe. It's just too far out there to make it a convincing scam. In other words - a bad scam with probably 0.5% real girls. I guess this is about the same rate as criagslist, which is free.

Good website, with lots of opportunities. I've met many nice people on there, both girls and men. Useful if you're in search of business partner because there're many wealthy people. Perhaps it's the best place on the net currently, because I've been a member of many similar websites before but haven't found anything just empty promises before paying. Scammers place. Decent sites like J4-Date.com vet profiles and they ban dodgy users. All the girls I chatted with over there turned out to be real and I had a few dates. But Travelgirls customer service doesn't care about integrity of their site. The lack of accountability of Travelgirls website is tremendous. They don't police their own platform so it turned into scammers' paradise. Don't bother to report scammers, they always ignore these reports. Moreover, they can ban your profile for too much activity, they don't like users who wage war on scammers. This is a labor of Sisyphus.

Even admin of this site supports all the nasty offers from spermo-intoxicated men. That flipping Justine says they are just playful... Any man, from spotty teenager to decrepit flabby old man pays to join this site... and automatically thinks that any girl OUGHT to jump on him with legs wide open. Admin supports those revolting men. Full stop. If you want to be called a cheap little $#*! then go ahead, join travelgirls, its free for you, girl! (with sarcastic smile)

This website claims it is not an Escort Website, yet every girl on there offers sex for cash. If their not offering sex, they'll give you a sad excuse that they are living in poverty and need you to send them money. They post fake pictures on their profile from other model or pornstar websites just to get you interested. It's also an expensive website you'll regret you invested in.

If you value your hard earn dollar, I recommend you stay clear of this website.

9 of 10 are scam and not serious. But very smart.

There lot of "prostitutes" (the east european type) trying to fish some money. I personally know some of them from my time i lived in Kyiv.
And there even also some agency-style organized people who even host a lot of profiles there.
For them its really business fishing for some dollars there.
But honestly: it so easy earned money you can do from your flat.
And even if you just earn one time 800 dollars or 6 times 100 Dollar in a month: its more than double a nurse in Ukraine has as salary.

On all scam sites one can find someone. It is a diversionary tactic by the site to distract one from its real operations which can be erroneous. This site does not find itself at fault if something goes wrong on a trip. This site also does not have a good scam filtering system to filter out scammers and so many profiles of women can be potential scammers.

Connections may be found on the site but it does not mean it is a 100% guarantee that they will last for a long time.

Note: One should especially take care when traveling to someone and see if one can do background checks on the person and make sure they provide you as much genuine detail about themselves as they can and also make sure the details that they give you about themselves are indeed the Truth. If they cannot do so then avoid them like the plague.

Most of the messages I received are offers from men. Be it money for a night, week, or travel. I've been in the site for nearly 8months now, and I only meet men who come to my home town. So real woman wary about safety and security and don't accept money or flight tickets from strangers. I don't travel with strangers. So far I have only been to europe after I had met this man for 4 days, and kept in contact for 3 months before I finally accede to his invite. This site is one of the biggest scam for male counter part as they takes a huge amount to read message and go ahead and when you found gals, majority from Ukraine are cheater and ask for money. Before getting money they will show everything on skype & talk with video. Once they get money or we refused, you will not get any response.

This site delete some of the accounts when we inform them but if 90 % gals are escorts of cheater then this site is money making factory for them. And there are many losers from the world on this site.

Sure you have to look a bit, they are escorts on this site, do not follow immediately each invitation. Try to have a discussion and see what comes up. But thanks to this site a meet nice local people during my travels.

Too much fake/phony profiles. I signed up to browse members. I got a message from a girl but couldn't read it until I paid for their service. So I paid, and exchanged two messages with the girl until I suddenly didn't hear from her again. I communicated with another "girl" but I did some research and found she was listed as a scam. My travel plans changed so I let my membership expire.

I went back onto the site several months later and created a new account. Same girl contacted me immediately. I didn't have a picture or profile even filled out. How many girls on that site and she is the first to contact me both times? Come on!
Additionally, I also saw the "girl" who I previously mentioned was a scam. She had a new user name and a new profile picture. I reported it to the site administrator, including the link to the site where "she" is listed as a scam and they did nothing about it! She is still on there now as I type this e-mail. STAY AWAY! 95 % of female profiles is fake.
The site support for a claimed 2 million users is done by just one passive aggressive incompetent administrator "Justina". Her support is below useless, and she is always on the side of scammers.

It´s a Scam! A HUGE expensive scam. The site sends you a lot of messages until you pay, and suddenly you are not that popular anymore;)

They are supervising and blocking profiles that don't meet site standarts. When I report I see suspicious members suspended. Don't judge by extreme bad reviews, I think they are by competitors or people who are angry to pay for good quality things.
