I bought a deal form a restaurant in Chicago that went south. The customer service team at travelzoo were really helpful and made things right for me. I would recommend them without hesitation. Awesome!
I am a victim of the UTO company scam. They got me for $1394.00 for a trip I booked on December 20,2021. The trip was an 11 day Yangtze Spree. The trip was cancelled due to COVID and I received a credit which has a cancellation date of September 27,2024. I've been unable to book since that time because of lack of availability or exorbitant travel fees. Please let me know if someone is considering a class action! I'm located in Delaware.
Do not buy from travelzoo. Most of their deals are just scams and not much of any savings, discount or deal. Horrible cosumer service. Always read their fine prints. I bought a "resort" from them. When I checked out of the hotel I was told that I would have to pay taxes because I bought from travelzoo and not directly from the hotel. There was a bunch of other fees as well. It basically comes out to the same as it would, if you buy directly from the vender/hotel, with all the taxes they charge at the end of your stay. Travelzoo costumer service could care less since they already got their money and wont refund. The hotel could care less, and told me to just take it up with travelzoo.

Dont buy anything from Travelzoo, and always read the fine print.

Arrived to construction in main lobby and painting everywhere.
Complained to Travelzoo who said they called hotel and there was no construction.
After we sent pictures of construction and painting we were offered a $20 Travelzoo gift Cert.
We were up all nite as the stench of painting was being blown Thru the A/C. We left immediate.
Only after we disputed the credit card charge did Travelzoo offer full refund.

A review offering train rides for 35 through Germany, sounded too good to be true. After purchase, none of the promo-codes can be used to book trains except one. Which offered bad timing. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and will never use again!

We often use Travelzoo for holidays and short breaks. Been to some lovely places, latest was Coarse Lawn Hotel Gloucs. Really pleasant break, great staff and food.
The worst ever experience! I booked a beauty session through travelzoo at a local salon when I came to redeem my voucher within the timescale specified the company was no longer trading I have emailed travelzoo on FIVE occasions requesting a full refund and they have not had the common courtesy nor decency to even respond all you get in an automated response!
STAY WELL CLEAR! The only saving grace is this was only for a beauty session thank goodness it wasnt for an expensive holiday PLEASE DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP!

Upon receiving my voucher, I noted the expiration date, Promotional Value Expiration Date: Feb 27,2014. Since I was not ready to make my reservation, I did not bother to read HOW TO USE THIS VOUCHER portion. Your voucher contains trickery and fraud... If the important provision was that "reservations must be made by December 31,2013", this info should have been included right along with the promotional expiration dates and especially in the TERMS AND CONDITIONS. Unless I receive an immediate refund or acceptance of my voucher by Westgate River Ranch Resort, I will be contacting both paypal and Discover Card and my lawyer.

I purchased a voucher to a local comedy club; however, when I went to use the voucher, I was told it was invalid because the comedian had "NO PASSES" beside the show time. Well, I searched the comedy club's website and practically every single show had this notation beside it; out of four months' worth of shows, MAYBE three show times didn't say "NO PASSES" (and there's a different performer every single week)!
Needless to say, I won't be purchasing from TravelZoo again -- they may be offering deals, but you're losing money in the long run if the venue doesn't allow you to redeem the deal! Save your money and/or stick to Groupon or LivingSocial; I've used those sites several times, and I've never had any redemption issues!

Mio Fratello, Selbyville, De. Wednesday night special is lobster that is served in several different dishes. My husband & I both had the lobster diablo, salad, italian bread & coffee/arnold palmer.The salad was very fresh & had a delicious vinegarette dressing. The bread was warm & very good. The main course was served with a lobster tail that had been cracked & the meat was extremely tender with a great flavor. The sauce was a marinara served over thin spaghetti. You have your choice of several pastas. We were too full to get dessert. Our waitress (Joy) was polite, knowledgeable & very attentive. The tables were coved in a white cloth. Our bill was just under $50 plus our tip. The meal was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It doesn't open until one daily.
Used Travelzoo to book a package for my grandsons birthday. Be careful- when they say "subject to availability" they mean the 1-2 rooms Travelzoo will ALLOW the hotel to book per night for them even if the hotel had plenty of available rooms at Crowne Plaza Dublin Ohio did with the zoo package that was advertised as one of Travelzoo's 10 best deals of the day- what a deal- on their day off my son's little boy did not get to go to the zoo- Shame on you Travelzoo and Crowne Plaza Dublin Ohio!

I received a dinner voucher via teavelzoo@ a fine restaurant the Adolphus in Dallas. While enquiring about a certain date within the guidelines of the voucher (No Fri-Sun, No Holidays). I was told that the restaurant couldn't honor the request because the entire establishment was rented for the evening. What do you do when u initially call and it's available then you make air reservations for your special day then u call back and the restaurant says "sorry" someone rented the entire restaurant for the night. Well, that seemed like anspecial exception so I called Travelzoo to NO Concern or Help. At first the manager Crystal wouldn't come to phone after multiple requests?!? Of course we can't refund the $$ or give u at the least a credit. U r outa luck and so sorry for the Airplane tix u bought. I would not recommend travelzoo, Dr T...

Please stop posting Exoticca Vacation Deals. They have the worst customer service in which I've dealt with in 15 years. They either do not return your calls after many messages left since they indicate they are too busy to receive your call therefore the automated message requests you enter a call back number for exoticca to Return your call within 24 hours (never happened) or they don't help or guide with needing more information about the tour companies they subcontract with. I feel they are negligent with their clients and do not care about your needs or issues. They placed us In a hotel one block from the protests in Santiago... graffiti everywhere, told to stay in our rooms after 5 pm when all the protests occur, subways closed, government building barricaded with military guards w/rifles, roads closed, trash everywhere, parks destroyed, fires set by protesters in the forests, drums and loudspeakers sounds through the evening, etc. Why didn't they move us to a SAFER location?! Shame on Exoticca. I feel their profit outweighed our safety and our experience on our tour.
Oh, and by the way... if you don't book your tours prior to making final payment your are SOL (so outta luck). Exoticca's attitude is so sorry. They should've explained it immediately when making final payment.

I purchased a Whale watching trip in Monterey. Despite the best planning 3.5 hours of driving from bay area we missed our 10 a.m. trip. Travel Zoo would not refund the monies. We did not utilize the trip the company got the money the RANDY's Whale Fishing got their cut of money as did Travel Zoo but all I got was a bill for $50.00 Travel Zoo would not refund. We booked a hotel in NYC through Travel Zoo and when we arrived at the hotel the booking no. Was not valid. (It was for a date that already passed and not under our name.) It took us several hours on the phone with at least 3 different Travel Zoo representatives before the problem was solved. When we got home we called Travel Zoo and asked to a partial credit to compensate us for our time (and the stress of worrying about where we were going to sleep!) We were offered a $25 credit toward a future booking... which doesn't go far in NYC. If you use Travel Zoo to book a hotel I would suggest calling the hotel to make sure they have your reservation.
Part II... Just got our credit card bill... We were charged twice for our hotel room. Once by Travel Zoo back in Jan. And then again by the TRYP Hotel. So now we will waste more time trying to straighten this out... Buyer Beware!
We contacted the hotel regarding the double charge and they are crediting our account. In all fairness I want to note that this was not Travel Zoo's fault. I am still waiting to hear from them regarding the initial problem of the reservation mix up.

Don't trust Travel Zoo to make your reservations. Even if you have a booking confirmation no. it may not be valid.

After UTO vacations tried to rip me off on a China/Japan trip, I spoke to Travelzoo about it. Travelzoo could not care less and they also continued to advertise the same trip from UTO on their site! UTO said the trip was canceled and tried not to refund me. I must admit that in the end UTO did refund my money but it was not easy to get the refund. UTO will try to get YOU to cancel in anyway they could and if you don't they still try to not refund you. When I originally bought the trip I asked myself how they could sell these trips for so cheap and the answer was that they cannot.
Tip for consumers:
Travelzoo continues advertising UTO vacations on their site when they know they are a scam. I told them and others and they still continued to sell their packages for them and not deliver.

I wrote Travelzoo in hoped they could help me with a refund from UTO for trip to China. It was cancelled and then re/instated in 72 hours. They said my money (PAID IN FULL MONTHS PRIOR TO TRIP) was now a travel credit and they would send other tours. THEY NEVER SENT TOURS and everything I saw offered by UTO was triple or more of original trip.
Somehow, I felt safe because it was offered through Travelzoo. I alerted them to what I consider a scam and UTO is still on their site. I had hoped they would no longer associate with UTO.
I was about to book trip with Jetliner (offered on Travelzoo) but decided to check reviews. Seems like another UTO.
I now realize Travelzoo does not evaluate travel companies. Do not trust their listings without research.

In 2020 I booked a trip with Jetliner Vacations for a quick, cheap trip to Iceland. Two weeks before the scheduled departure, travel was shutdown. Received a voucher, so far, so good.
Just tried to rebook. Quote was about $550 more than the original trip, I get that, however, no direct flights from Boston were available so I would have three flights taking over 20 hours. I agreed and was told they would have to check on flight availability before confirming. Did not receive a return call the next day. Tried calling the following day, Friday, left a message but didn't receive a return call. Called again on Monday, no return call. Called again on Tuesday, agent was out on break so I was transferred to Customer Service. Customer Service said the agent was on break for an hour but they would have him call me. Two hours later I called again and the agent (Hayden) picked up! I was put on hold while he confirmed the flights. This time they had direct flights for an additional $250 or I could get a refund. Decided to cut my losses and go for the refund. Any bets on when I see that?
I've read how TravelZoo shops their Top 20 to insure quality, now I seriously doubt that. TravelZoo needs to do a better job at vetting their recommendations or they lose more customers like me.

After booking 2 hotel rooms through Travelzoo, I upgraded the rooms to have breakfast as well as spa tubs. Upon check in the gal at the desk said it was a continental breakfast. I was very surprised and said that my understanding was a full breakfast. She was willing to accommodate the request if I sent her verification from Travelzoo. We checked in and called customer service. Aaron was almost annoyed speaking with me. Reading the voucher to me, which I already had over and over- I know what it said, it said room with breakfast. I then asked for his supervisor. After being put on and off hold for 28 minutes, Lana said she'd have to bring it up with HER supervisor and would quickly get back to me since we were already in the hotel and needed an answer. That was Friday, today is Monday. I just called customer service and Linda said oh there is $10 promo code for you. I explained the poor customer service as well as it was a $28 upgrade for the full breakfast( as well as the $39 extra dollars per room) and I was offered $10 promocode. I asked for one per room since I purchased both room vouchers. Very sad customer service.
Finding this site "site jabber" I was surprised to see all the bad reviews for Travelzoo. I've used them a long time and thought I would have been more appreciated as a valued customer. Beware of what you are buying before you hit that "buy now" button.

I had purchased two vouchers TRAVELZOO promoted using a local eatery in Vancouver ( La Gavroche)which has since closed and gone bankrupt after 30 years in operation, I tried numerous times to contact travelzoo for a refund as per their policy to which there is no reply, no direction, so result. DO NOT BUY VOUCHERS unless you are prepared to eat the loss so to speak, because if the vendor closes, you appear to be on your own, Travelzoo does not care.

Booked a hotel in Niagara on the Lake with Travel Zoo. Stayed one night. Looking forward to using the jacuzzi but the hot tap broke off so could not get Any hot water. Told front desk who said Maintenance closed for the night. Girl offered me a compensation of a bottle of wine, but we declined as we do not drink wine. Next day checking out mentioned to front desk what happened, and she said 'that was unfortunate'. I asked if they would give us some kind of compensation she said 'Take it up with Travel Zoo as you booked with them. Contacted Travel Zoo who checked with hotel and hotel said they offered me for next time a suite. She never said that. I told Travel Zoo that she did not say that. I never hear back from TravelZoo. Nothing no response. It seems Travel Zoo closed the issue. Where is the Customer Service in that. Just not bothered to even answer me back. Seems Travel Zoo believed the hotel not the Customer. What ever happened to the Customer is always right, not in this case in fact the Customer got Forgotten.
