This is a easy, non-complicated site. I have been looking and applying for jobs and even when the position you apply needs more experience they always respond back with the status of your application, if you weren't selected, they will tell you... Most of the sites where you apply for a job position, they just let you wait forever and never email/call back. I personally think that just the fact they let you know how everything goes with your application is a show of respect..."Respect" lately endangered..
I am a Marine Veteran, I have a bachelor's degree, I have 13 associates degrees, I've been unemployed for 6 months, I've been consistently applying to multiple positions on USAJOBs.gov, and I haven't received one job offer nor a single interview. I'm fed up with this site, how is it that there's so many jobs listed and yet getting hired seems so impossible? This is unacceptable. The system is broken and USAJOBs.gov is another broken site that wastes your energy and time. I had to search reviews to see if I was the only one going through this, but by the looks of all these 1-stars I see that the same experience is very common. No wonder we have so many homeless veterans and homelessness in general. Finding great careers these days seems almost impossible nowadays during especially during this horrible economy. I don't know what I'm going to do, but USAJOBs.gov is a disgrace to the veteran/military community.
The requirements for the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program are straightforward but ambiguous concerning the window of time out of service' (Not clear and open to debate). I have not yet hit my 6-year mark out of active duty, yet according to employees answering the phones I still don't meet the requirement of being within the "last five years." The wording of the requirement "the last 5 years" is ambiguous and I believe I am still eligible when those words are used. I have connected to employees who get the applications and they have to change the wording, the entire sentence, to explain what the requirement of time is talking about. I plead for some understanding on this. If a person reads a requirement or rule (That isn't clear and isn't specific) thus, ambiguous in its meaning, that person in concern is left to assume what is being said was set up for failure from the start.
I explained to the employees how 5.5 years is still included in the requirement wording "last 5 years." The employees explained to me the meaning of the requirement by rewording' the entire requirement. Never once did they use the exact sentence or words as used in the requirement (and what they were saying made complete sense using the words they used). What they were trying to get me to understand I understood fast because the words they used actually meant specifically what they were talking about and what the program was looking for.
I do believe that if this case were brought to a courthouse my argument would win quick and easy. Wording matters. The words used in the requirement of time separated' set me up for failure.
I do not wish apon anyone to have to deal with this site. Uploading documents is supposed to be an easy process but freezes up all the time. The web page is cluttered there is no customer service or professionalism to help you if there is an issue with your application. USA jobs has affected more than 300,000 applicants this year alone. Don't let it be you before it's too late.
This site should be shut down, I'm a veteran, and went to log in, didn't recognize e-mail, nor my password. Put the pin in that was sent to me, and rejected that. I been a temporary Employee for the last 4 years, and went to log in, and had to re-enter everything all over again. When doing a resume, it don't say how many characters are to be used. Wanted to apply for a permanent position, and couldn't get log on to my account. Unfortunately job closes at midnight, and because of this faulty site, won't be getting that opportunity. It's a disgraceful, shameful site
The website is difficult to navigate and when you finally get your information/application submitted for a particular job, it's 50/50 on whether the agency will receive your application. Do your best to deal direct with the agency or use Indeed. And don't bother trying to call USAJobs as there is no phone to get help. It's all by email and the "help" you get is pathetic!
This job site is worthless and fake and run by inept people that waste jobseekers time. I've applied for more than 200 plus jobs in 2 years and receive no feedback either positive or negative. Had one phone interview by CBP and was mocked for being unemployed. Whole purpose of looking for a job is to get one? Correct? I'd stay clear of this sucker trap of a job site.
USAJobs.gov is the worst job application site that exists. Plan on spending a few hours just filling out the application on USAJobs.gov only to find out that all the information you just filled out is irrelevant because the department or agency website will make you fill it out all again. You're better off filing for unemployment than applying for a federal job. They make the job requirements so specific that unless you have made such a niche career path choice, they don't want you.
I have been applying to multiple positions for the last 6 years with NO success. I am retired Air Force (33 years of service), have not only have a Bachelors, but also have my Masters Degree. I have NOT met anyone who has been hired by this web site nor heard of anyone having any luck with this site. Don't bother to apply - totally a waste of time.
Just like many of my applications "not being considered for this position" or "qualified, not forwarding to selecting official" with no explanation of what was "considered" or why I was "qualified" but being forwarded on to a selecting official. USAJOBS is a Firewall that the Federal Government hides behind. I have several first hand examples. I would have given a no star rating if possible.
Tip for consumers:
USAJOBS is only helpful to someone applying that has an HR employee in the agency the applicant is applying for waiting for the application. It has been a fixed site for years.
I've applied countless of times in the past, but more recently as I've had to move different states a few times. Im a military spouse now which makes it more challenging for me to find a job as I'm moving around. The VA states there's eligibility for military spouses, but I've applied more than a few times with no success. I've given up. There's no interest in supporting military spouses here.
I'm a vet who served over 30 years & recently retired as a federal employee. I have been applying for jobs on USAjobs.gov website for past 3 years. Not one time have I managed to land an interview for one of the jobs posted on the website, received a phone call from a potential employer, or received an email from a potential employer -or know of anyone else who managed to land an interview or get hired by applying for a job on USA jobs.gov This website is a great example of a government website being promoted as being a great help to veterans seeking employment but delivers nothing.
Learned that you are actually fighting against an algorithm, not a human. If your answers do not meet the pre-determined check boxes, be prepared to be disqualified. It almost requires your to BS your resume and answers just to even make it to a human response. The selection process is pretty beyond brutal and a lot of the jobs are asking for unrealistic levels of experience. A lot of the jobs are underpaid for those seeking to get their foot into the federal system.
Do not waste your time with this site I was told I didn't qualify for a basic hand tool job. I have been doing industrial maintenance and construction for 25 years and didn't qualify for a basic maintenance job. It's a total waste of time and energy stick to Indeed or others for your needs. Hours wasted for nothing.
It is maddening. The Log in feature is broken. I will copy and past the same password and email and then after 5 tries of telling me it is wrong, it magically works. Also it signed me out in the middle of a job survey.
I saved all 895 rejection emails & going to make into art décor, encase then place next to my framed degree in strategic intelligence. BTW use governmentjobs.com for city, county and state jobs. IT WORKS GREAT!
Trying to log in after I changed my password. It keeps auto filling in and old expired password, then tells me it is not valid. I try to use my new password and it says it is not valid. So I sign up AGAIN for a new password and it keeps auto filling the old one and won't accept the new one. Ridiculous and a complete waste of time.
Its hard to search for positions, its hard to find if you fit the requirements, there is no feedback. Half the time if you email the associated support address you just won't get a response, and if you do get a response they will give you a generic response and say that there is not much they can help you with.
I have never gotten a single interview from USAjobs, despite the fact that I have 10 years of relevant work experience. My advice go literally anywhere else.
The requirements listed in the position are not the requirements they ask for in the questionnaire. You waste time constantly tailoring resumes and find out you're not qualified based on the questionnaire. Put the REAL requirements in the job post.
After applying for over 2 years I refuse to continue to entertain the USAJOBs Friends-Only Network anymore. As a Disabled Veteran who is tech savvy with a Top Secret, it is basically impossible to get even a GS-7 Human Resources position, or even a GS-05 Labor position which is absolutely ridiculous considering my skillset. It's a TRASH website for TRASH people. Not to mention, most of these high-ranking GS civilians do not do their job and stay home most of the time. They are cheating the system, and getting paid high dollars for it. If you wanted a worker, you would have hired me. Now all you have is a bunch of losers not doing much of anything. Worst resume-filtered job application website in the history of mankind. Stay away before it tries to suck in your soul. The Devil himself made this website.
Tip for consumers:
USAJOBS should be renamed to USELESS.
I have applied for numerous jobs that not only was I extremely qualified for but should have had disabled veterans preference. I submitted not only the requested documentation but extras like licenses and certifications.
When I get denied it not only won't tell you why, it doesn't even say why exactly, simply that we can not determine if you are qualified or not. Thia despite the fact I submitted ample evidence of qualification for almost all the positions I aplplied. This is what interviews should be for.
I have seen postings up for one day implying they are not actually searching and likely already had a hire selected and just posted it to meet requirements. I sincerely believe most jobs you see come up have pre-selected hires.
Tip for consumers:
Don't get your hopes up here, it's a check in the block for organizations full of nepotism.
Who in their right mind would make you delete your entire account if you A) no longer have the phone number you started with and B) can't seem to located some 16-key coded you have received over a Year ago to create the account. Once you delete the account you have to wait 24 hours to unlink the account then contact someone there to re-link your account. Well if there was an job announcement with a closing date that was the same day you were locked out USA JOBS developers just F*$# you on the chance. Never in my life have I seen suck a crappy web application.
I have applied to over 20 jobs on this site and some below the grade I was in the military. All have came back as not referred. Some said I was not qualified even though I did the duty for over 15 years. I have spoken to several retirees and we have come to a conclusion that the site is looking for service members who leave the military at or before ten years. I know of a Soldier who applied for the same job and got it after being CHAPTERED out the Army
Applied for another job on USAJOB.gov. Another your not qualified. I'm actually overqualified, but was willing to take a lower paying lower stress job. Another problem with Federal government jobs, not USAJOBS.gov is the ridiculous requirements. To get a RN job with the VA, an applicant must have graduated from a college/university that is nationally accredited. I graduated from a regionally accredited college, but that is no good in the eyes of the VA. The kicker is I'm a disabled veteran and this supposed to help me get hired but doesn't. Maybe the problem is more about the federal government and the way they hire people. They don't put everybody on a level playing field.
I can't imagine a more ludicrous experience job hunting than USAJOBS.GOV
I have 28 years experience in my Nursing field with Master's Degree and I am Honorably Discharged Veteran. I applied to 39 separate Jobs and not a one yielded much. I had a get "Referred" but still nothing. The Application Questions are absurd and obviously not written by anyone who was acquainted with the Registered Nursing Profession.
This is the gateway to Federal Jobs so I said that was enough of that! These jobs must require an insider to help one out which I don't have. I finally gave up.
Imagine your are journeyman and you are more qualifile than apprentice, but if you apply for apprentice position they will notifies that you are "not qualifile". So I believe because of apprentice position, so next time I apply for journeyman position, but still not qualifies. I have electrical engineering degree and I had over 20 years experiences, of course I don't have military background. So I write review on their wedside, same I write on here. You know what... since them I never get refer. (Before I do get some refer 3 or 4 different place and 2 times phone interviews)
I have used USAJOBS.GOV for about 7 years, I have never once even recieved an email from any potential employer. Fast forward to now, I have been using Indeed.com and I have had interviews and have actually gotten a temporary job, but something is better than nothing.
