I had a problem with a guide in Seychelles because she didn't turn up (her name is Sheena) and at the end she wanted to get paid and refused to accept my full refund (for a tour she declined)…! Viator was very correct and professional because they refunded me. So, the tour operator wanted to cheat, but Viator was correct and reliable. I highly recommend and I will continue to book through them. Viator can obviously be also affected by unethical tour operators.
If I could give less than 1 star I would Don't waste your time. Booked an experience and nowhere does it state the currency for the booking until it had processed and I checked my bank to see it had processed in USD. I also note they did not have all the fare options that the provider offered so we were charged full price for an otherwise free passenger. Contacted customer support and they gave ZERO support or solutions whatsoever. Not even a partial refund for the over charge. They even tried telling me that USD was an internationally used currency which really made me laugh
I booked a wine tasting tour in Croatia and the supplier asked me to cancel my booking due to low numbers. I cancelled the booking as requested and picked the option available to explain that this was at the request of the supplier. Viator stated I would be refunded zero euros. It was unable to get in touch with their customer service so I reported the fraud to my bank, Viator Chargeback Response Team is currently delaying my refund request, and again not responding to the proof provided. Please don't use Viator, it is a scam.
Viator is running a bait and switch scam with promo codes. The promo code is validated when added to cart. Upon checkout the discount magically disappears and you are charged the full amount. Happened 3 times.
I purchased a walking tour in York in the UK last year. The guide simply never showed up. I rated the tour as one star and asked for my money back. Viator would not do a refund so I canceled the transaction on my credit card as fraudulent. Viator will no longer book a tour with ANYONE with my family name. Amazingly vindictive company when I did nothing wrong. Now I book real tours though real local tour companies.
Had horrible experience with photographer in Athens Greece and even though they had a guarantee and showing horrible photos that cost $500 for a 1 hour session (was 2 hours but we left early was so bad) they wouldn't honor anything. Stay far away.
The Viator website does not allow you to log in and see your bookings. When I asked at chat it took the person 15 minutes to tell me that. They make it intentionally confusing, and when they email, their messages go to spam. I absolutely hate Viator for putting me 2 hours of "Chat" just to see my 4 bookings. Their processes are pathetic, and they clearly make it confusing on purpose to try to get you to book more activities. You can't see what you've booked because all they want to do is suggest more bookings. It made me very angry.
Cancelled 2 of our 3 Paris tours last minute and one after we had travelled across Paris $100 in Ubers they wouldn't cover. Zero accountability. I don't want a refund, I want my tour. Trip of a lifetime with my family wrecked by Viator.

Overcharged, under refunded. Emailed twice no resolve, just told me to solve my own problems. This was their reply " The value of your Booking may be subject to taxes, duties, foreign transactions, currency exchange, or other fees. Your bank or payment card company may convert the payment into the local currency and may charge fees, resulting in differences between the amount displayed through the Platform, and the final amount charged to you. Viator recommends that you contact your bank or card company if you have any questions concerning any applicable currency conversion or fees"
I was abandoned at the Rome train station at 6.30am waiting for the tour guide to turn up, at 6.50am called my travel agent in Australia to see if they could find out what was happening as the 2 phone numbers on the voucher were not available.
The tour was cancelled, Viator had not bothered to tell me, they had my email and mobile
They said they would refund the tour money $850 but not my out of pocket expenses, taxis, breakfast too early for Hotel, phone calls to Australia.
It was awful, 70 years old being abandoned in a foreign country, not being able to speak the language at 6.40 am in the morning, it's an absolute disgrace.

Local tour company said they would pick us up "at our hotel". Instead they arrived outside our resort and made no effort to look 50 yds away to see us. Just took off and aviator would not honor a refund. Very unreliable company. Avoid dealing with them altogether. They have no control over their "local tour operator.
And made no effort to walk 50 yds to see us.

This company is a total scam. They show their 100% guarantee knowing your booking stuff that is last minute only to tell you that because you book last minute you are not eligible for a refund. Had a cruise that was delayed and we were not able to make the tour booked and in turn we were not refunded. I would look elsewhere or make sure you book with your American Express so you can process a chargeback on their fraud.

Viator does not have your back
I purchased 3 tickets through Viator 6 months ago for a helicopter trip provided by Blue Hawaiian. I was later informed I would need to pay an additional fee of $170 because of my weight. I requested the fee be waived, which blue hawaiian agreed to. On the day of the flight they demanded the fee anyways. I refused and they would not refund me. Viator claims they are there for the consumer, but they sided with Blue Hawaiian in the dispute, I do not believe they took my case seriously. As blue hawaiian broke our agreement the day of the flight. Don't trust Viator to do the right thing.
I booked 4 tours through them and was supposed to get 10% off of 2 and I only got it on one. They do not care if you are disabled and won't accommodate you. I paid an extra $60 for a pickup and return and only used the pickup as the tour company dropped everyone at their hotel and they won't refund the $30 that I did not use. Their prices are higher than booking directly with the tour companies. Please stay away from thus company as they only care about taking your money and they provide no customer service.

The tour guide (to Vatican City) was a no-show and did not respond to our phone/text attempts. After requesting a refund, Viator claimed to have changed the time of our tour (to directly conflict with another of our Viator tours). By screwing us out of $75, they lost $465 in future tours. Bad company with illogical business practices. RUN FAR AWAY from this tour company!
I booked a tour to visit the Alhambra in Granada weeks in advance. Forty-eight hours before the tour, I received a cancellation notice due to an error on their end, and I would receive a full refund. I pushed back, and they offered me a new tour, but they never verified the tour they provided. Overall, it was too late to alter our planned trip to Granada. We are unhappy and will not recommend Viator Tours in the future.

I would like to be compensated for booking an entire trip around a tour that didn't happen.
We booked a tour of the Tower of Pisa, we were charged £51 for a £30 tour and did not receive a guided tour. When looking to complain there is no contact details on the website. I hate booking this sort of thing for fear of being ripped off. I assumed it would be ok due to the Trip Advisor link. Sadly I was ripped off. Will never use this service again.
Viator does not care about the customers that they serve. We missed an entire day experience because of the tour operator that they recommended. When we tried to talk to customer service, they refused to give us a refund. They suggested rescheduling the tour which is ridiculous since we were leaving the country and the tour obviously fell through the first time. Do not use Viator unless you just want to throw money away giving it to people who do not care about their customers.

Ended up wrongly cancelling a tour, thanks to technical issues with Viator's website. They ask me to login, when I do not have an account and make me signup. Now, when I want the tour - the prices have gone considerably up, and Viator says they cant do anything to help. No apology, no acknowledgement of errors with their website. Just very rude agents. You will better off dealing with the tour operators themselves.
Bought tickets for 2:00 pm Our confirmation was correct but when we arrived to the museum they did not allowed us until 2:45 bc the time on the tickets were wrong. It took me two days for them to send them to me. Their commission was more expensive than the tickets. We paid 3 times more. Terrible site, terrible service. Avoid this site! Hope this help you! I booked this tour way ahead of arriving in Florence. The day before the tour they cancelled. I got a refund. But that tour was specifically booked due to our historical interest. Their reason… in demand tour. How unreliable for a company to do this the day before when we are already in Florence. Very Disappointed with this company. Won't use them again, will tell all my friends as well.

My wife and I were just in Paris. Fortunately, we booked our tickets to San Chapelle through another tour agency. When we entered the chapel there were multiple signs saying that tickets purchased through Viator were not valid and you had to go the the cash office and purchase another ticket then deal with viator to get a refund from them.
On Sunday evening, my girlfriend and I booked a three hour tour of Stockholm on Viator — according to Ramirez, this wasn't nearly enough time to explore the city. The following day, I was happy to find a brief, but pleasant message explaining the main attractions we would see, and if any requests were curiously lingering within our minds as to potential exploration spots; of course, as tourists, we did not.
Long story short, the first 45 minutes give or take, were decent, but somewhat awkward as dead silence and requests on where to go next would constantly plague us. A dull, shameful, and lifeless excuse for a guide who I'd avoid like a crazy mother-in-law — it'd have been a heck of lot more exciting if this was our guide!

Do not book with Viator. We booked an expensive tour that we really wanted and the end of the next day they sent an email asking if we could go another day. We are on a cruise ship so we could not. Rather than try to accommodate us, they chose to talk trash and so the tour was cancelled after they first told us it was over booked the next day. Read all the reviews for this company before you book. They have horrible reviews. They should not be in business

My wife called to book a parasailing trip for our kids in Miami over the Xmas break. The Viator rep on the phone was pushy and would not let go. She convinced my wife to book the trip 'at a bargain price' and confirmed that the bottom line including everything would be $200. When we got there they charged us another $66 for taxes and fees that were not mentioned earlier. We wasted half an hour on the phone with Viator, asked to file a complaint but did not get a satisfactory response. Things like this turn a relaxing vacation into aggravation and frustration. Very bad experience; cheating and misleading is not the way to conduct good business.
I scheduled a tour of the vatican months ago. Tour date is 5 days from now so i decided to go ahead and pay for it. As soon as i clicked on the button to pay it said your card is invalid so your reservation is canceled. No option to update my card or talk to anyone or anything. Called customer service they can do nothing.

They refunded the money but could not get me the same tour back, so i'm out time, money and frustration having to setup a new tour with no time left meaning it's going to be more expensive and more crowded.
Was left behind around midnight on a tour that included transportation l have been trying to get my money back but viator incorrectly filed my claim and now says that can't give me my money back until the 3rd party company they used reaches back out them. It's been 2 weeks. They are a scam none of their customer service agents are helpful and I honestly don't understand how they are in business.
