I love Wikipedia. It is great if you want easy access to information without having to search too deep on the web. I'd say more than 90% of the time, the articles are accurate and true. It's a shame we can't use this site in schools even though there are moderators whose job it is to validate the accuracy of the articles. There's even references where you can see where the writer got their information. I don't know what I would do without Wikipedia, and I am very grateful they are providing their almost unlimited arsenal of knowledge for free. I've donated to this site before and will do it again.
It is a biased information dump. It does not allow facts to be posted only what is convenient. Recommend not donating to it. Recommend not spending your time on it.
While I use Wikipedia from time to time and I can distinguish the articles that are well substantiates ( most of the time) and the ones that may be amateurish, I still get some good information (most of the time) but this rating is about this particular article (don't know how it was published). This article entitled Noah's Arc states that there's no evidence of a universal flood (this has been proven and is out of question), then it also says that Noah's Arc would have been an impossibility (It has been reproduced and I think it's in Texas, they just won the category of tax exemption in a law suit with the government). So, my point is, I happen to know that the idea of the flood is scientific and proven, but how about someone that doesn't know that and rely on Wikipedia? I know that many artciles are scrutinized, but this one went away away off the radar. Needs to be either corrected or removed. Just thought I should share.

You actually don't need to do primary or secondary schooling. You can just go straight to college. For that, use this website, plus books of course. As of right now the English Wikipedia has 3,945,605 articles in English. The German Wikipedia has 1,383,000 in German. The entire Encyclopedia has over 1 Billion edits. Its free for users to register and join to contribute content.
The website is very well organized. A little trick, Alt + X = random article

Wikipedia is a good, somewhat useful site. The problem is users can go in and change things so sometimes the information is not 100 percent accurate. It isn't a bad place to start if you want some simple facts about a famous person, tv show, movie, etc. but if you need to do more indepth research, there are better places to go.

Wikipedia is basically an online encyclopedia. It haves numerous articles of information on just about everything. Even though there are a few mistakes in some of the articles and sometimes the information isn't always accurate, I believe this website deserves a 5 star rating, because Wikipedia normally knows what they're talking about. Wikipedia is a great, well known place to find out what you need to know.

Wikipedia is unique helpful website. The editing feature is great since many people have knowledge they can add in real time to correct, And For only $5, people can make a contribution to keep Wikipedia online. Even if we only contribute every few years, we show our respect for knowledge and for everyone else using the Internet, and Yeah some of the information is not entirely 100% accurate, just as many encyclopedias contain errors or become obsolete. Wikipedia was a great idea, and has been useful to millions.

I'm so perturbed with Wikipedia! It's suppose to be free but you have these moderators who can decide what pages should stay or become deleted. I've found several pages where information is inaccurate or credible information was deleted. The site is so unreliable that my nephew's middle school gave instructions not to use that site for reports.

Short and sweet; it's open to the world for edits but the staff is generally excellent at fixing/correcting/banning blatant mistakes and/or opinions regarding the subject matter. Just the facts.
That being said, it should not be considered the end all be all. Dare to use reputable news sites and/or *gasp* an actual book to conduct serious research.

Obviously Wikipedia.org is a safe and a enjoyable browsing experience. I find Wikipedia.org a great start when looking for information. However as some have mentioned, anyone can edit these pages. Thus it can be biased and not based entirely on the truth. Ask most universities and they will almost always tell you not to use Wikipedia.org as a source. But again, don't doubt the site. It is a great starting point during research.

Wikipedia is the greatest and most useful encyclopedia that ever existed. It is damn near impossible to go an entire day without consulting Wikipedia. It has rich content that provides very comprehensive and informative details on nearly every subject, topic, individual, or event under the sun.

It revolutionized the information industry. Basic information about just about anything can be accessed quickly. It also gives people without the proper credentials, an opportunity to prove themselves (write, author articles, create logos, familiarized with copyright rules).

Can always find useful information on any topics, phrases or persons. When I am not sure about certain fixed phrases or special events of another culture, I use wiki. It is one of the most useful platforms for people to get to know different things.

As long as you use wikipedia as *one* of the sources of your information, it's a wonderful aggregation of information about topics. Certainly anyone can change it, but that's the beauty of it - if pages are changed incorrectly, others typically go in and correct the error (whether intentional or not). Crowd sourcing at its best.

Free, reliable encyclopedia of absolutely everything - This site is the benchmark of online, wiki-style encyclopedias -- and one of the best (and I believe most widely used) reference sites on the web. The articles cover an enormous number of topics, are collaboratively written by volunteers all over the world, and are constantly being reviewed, evaluated, revised and updated.

Whenever I want quick reference on something, for instance, when I'm watching television, Wikipedia is great. It covers so many unexpected subjects. In actual fact, it is somewhat moderated, and not just anybody can edit some subjects. That aside, as a retired librarian, what I really like about the Wikipedia articles are the references to other resources given at the end of the articles. These are the most important for verifying the information in the Wikipedia article. The references may make Wikipedia more valuable for a research project than the actual Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia may be best used as a spring board to finding good resources. The internal links in the articles are useful, but you must remember, they are internal and can be just as erroneous.

Before wikipedia was created, I have to go to the libraries to research for my school works. Now that wikipedia is here, it became easier. Although some of the teachers do not allow wikipedia as a source of info for thesis or other technical papers, because they say, it can be edited and wasn't verified unlike data from real encyclopedia.
Nevertheless, i can understand lessons better as I browsed over wiki infos.

I like wikipedia because you find information about pretty much anything. If you are a curious person and bored you can just go to wikipedia, go to a random article and learn something new. It might not be very practical, but it might help you think of something more interesting to do. Obviously its not a place to do scientific research, but the sources on articles can often times be quite valuable and help you find a more detailed source of information. Wikipedia is a great place to read biographies about real people. It can also be used as an unbiased news site.

Has some of the best and most widely used reference on the Web, but watch out for vandalism - when some idiot tries to put spam in a page. The vandalism is fixed quickly though. Not a 4-star site because of Vandalism. Still one of the best sites of the World Wide Web.
P.S. Remember to check out it's sister projects too! They are quite interesting.

Would be better if only veteran members can edit pages. I hate the fact that anyone can edit them. There are some pages that upset me and that's what takes three stars off of this site. Some pages are editable and I even want to edit the Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 video game page, but it's semi-protected. That's about it.
Tip for consumers:
Don't create an account. You won't be able to edit any page anyway.

We know facts are facts however, the composers of each blog has a definite political & religious leaning.
The way in which the facts are logged indicates an apparent leaning unto a negative connotation, almost targeting religious persons and their political affiliation. If a reader is merely looking for facts and not writings which point to an opinion, this is not where you will want to seek your information. Folks, I cannot say where is a good platform for ALL correct information without editorializing. Current times show everyone is going to get their opinion across one way or another.

I don't believe wikipedia hasn't been reviewed yet - but it doesn't come up on my site Jabber addon!
I love Wikipedia for general reference, finding the smallest detail, squashing a squabble over something silly and looking up how the latest TV series/ movie you're watching ends or just adding to your general trivial knowledge - Wikipedia has it all.
Just don't reference or quote it.
It's not a reliable source or quotable person!

I really love this website, although my teachers never want us to use it for research, because "anyone can change it and it might not be accurate" and so on... but its accurate 99% of the time, and you can find almost anything on this website. Very useful website.

I really like Wikipedia. People have a problem with it because it can be changed or altered by others. But they have to have links to information that backs up their additions. If they do not they will have time to find them or it'll be removed. This is far better than any encyclopedia book. Why? Because this information can be altered for corrections or updated on the spot. It gives information to the people and helps them understand certain things better.
I think that it's one of the best sites to ever be created because it furthers people's understanding of certain things. I like that it has to be written without bias. It's a fantastic site for information on many different topics.

This is good for getting information on almost anything. It is good to also get the year a specific song came out. It doesn't always have the song you are looking for and sometimes you have several steps to getting that information and some reading to get to it. It is a reliable website that you don't have to worry about getting a virus / worm / trojan like if you make the mistake of clicking on songfacts, which puts an extremely high risk infection on your computer system!

There is a reason why I will not give full ratings for Wikipedia and it has to do with two reasons
1. Everyone likes to see Wikipedia as an information tool which it is but does it have credible and reliable and trustworthy information on it all of the time? The answer is that not all of the time is this the case. At times one will come across pages on Wikipedia where the information may not be able to be trusted because the page does not refer to any actual sources for what has been posted
2. Moderators at times tend to have prejudices against those who post certain kinds of information that they deem "inappropriate" when actually it is not inappropriate at all and eventually gets removed by them sadly. It is many times difficult to get them to take down a tag on a post that they have deemed inappropriate when actually it may not be the case. What a shame!
However the site still has its usefulness!.
