My daughter found this game 3 years ago and we play it together. I never thought I would get so into a game online but we both love it. It is made by KingsIsle and they really care about their customers, their customer service has been exceptional and efficient when we have had needed extra help with things. Of course it is a business and as such they do provide opportunity to spend, but it is NOT pay to win which keeps it appealing. All you need to enjoy the entire game in full (including side activities) is available for membership fees, which you can get for as little as $5 (US) a month... kids say it is expensive but membership is less than one beer a month, or one meal out a year or for the pair of us to have accounts it is less than one trip to the theatre a year! Unlimited access, 6 wizards each and more content and things to do than we can ever complete... totally worth it and our best online discovery so far! :)
The whole game is a scam, they will ban you for other ridiculous reasons except cursing which is reasonable. Too much consumerism, find many ways to get your money. Very inconvenient Support Line, No call center just E-mail Extremely Inconvenient.
The game itself is great, but the community of players leads me to play less and less. Rude players often barge into individuals' battles with no invitation and even against the objections of the one being intruded upon. There are plenty of open areas to play in this game. But without exception, every time I try to play this game on my own, others intrude and disrupt my play. When there are plenty of open spots to begin new play, I can't comprehend why these players seem to enjoy intruding on others' play. And I also can't understand why the games administrators don't moderate this kind of behavior. They actually seem to encourage it.
KingsIsle, great software. But you need to regulate your players' behaviors much better. As this persists, I will be playing less and eventually, not at all.
Wizard101 is and was a popular game that I liked when I was younger, but now it is pointless because I played a lot MMORPG games and they don't beg you for money to progress any further into the game. Wizard101 has not improved on its market leniency on crowns neither any easier and less agenizing ways to earn crowns without being questioned by a bunch of fact that don't benefit a lot of people who is not from the US. I understand that you have to make money but people are not gonna spend that much forever on a game that don't benefit their life at the end... My suggestion is to work around your profit scheme on in game items, premium purchases and skins.
This is a fantastic game! I have some points I would like to add to show how great it is, or defend what I know is an amazing game.
1. Not free/ wrong advertising- People have to not be paying attention to think this game is scamming people. The commercial states, and I quote what I'm watching right now, "Download your free trial and start playing today". It states that not only is it a TRIAL, but that it is a download game. If you listen, you'll know.
2. Overpriced- This game is far from overpriced. Similar games I've seen do not have all of the features of Wizard101, and yet can still charge upwards of $30/month, and I even saw one that charged $150/year. When you consider the price, you also need to consider everything you are paying for. Just look at the complexity of the game! And they are always fixing and maintaining, and they also add new worlds and areas often! Overpriced is wrong, underpriced is an understatement.
3. Bad customer service- None of the people I've ever spoken to or met have had problems with customer service. My friend had her computer hacked, and the hacker bought crowns on Wizard101 on her account. When she reported it, she was refunded the FULL $563. They even offered her a free membership for 6 months. To me, that's excellent customer service.
This game is amazing, especially for families. I recommend this for anyone who wants to have a fun game for themselves and their families. Plus, they even offer a family deal. Definitely a great choice!
Yes, this game was problems for me bc of the 10$ a month is hard to obtain as a child but, I this game is soo nostalgic and it brought me back basically 9 years later to beat it :D.
This game has an amazing storyline. Its graphics often make the game labeled as childish. I can understand that, but if you pay attention to the story line you will realize it is quite morbid. I do not believe this game is for kids, especially due to the high complexity of higher up worlds. It's a strategy game, you bend to what is given to you. It can be challenging and that is the point, if you get past the first story arc (Dragonspyre) I see very few kids and it is mostly 16+ that play the game.
I have been playing this game since it came out in 2008, I started when I was 10 years old. I have seen them develop and although there were some things I was not happy about in terms of equal treatment between the schools (Myth is always getting the short end of the stick), I am very happy and content playing this game. Almost every single MMORPG is pay to play, I'm not sure what or why people thought this game would be different. If you wait until they have their special every couple months, it drops the membership to $5 a month ($60 for a year) and is by far one of the best prices found anywhere.
It's sister game, Pirate101, is also very good if people would give it a chance. Check it out, too!
I love wizard101 (I'm 21 now and have been playing it ever since i was about 13, I've spent soo much $ on there in the past, i can't even count it.). The only thing is contacting customer service can be a bit of a pain. Last year or so I was banned for a couple of years do to a pay-by-mobile issue i was using when i would order crowns though my phone. At first I had to pay like $30 back to the company... but as the months went on the price went up for some reason. And kept going up and up and up until i was at $50 I had to pay back. Which at the time was a bit annoying. Finally I paid them back last year after a few years of being banned... I contacted customer service via email and kept getting an auto response saying since i have payed. I am unabnned. But when i would log in it would still tell me I was banned. So i replyed again and they said i would have to pay AGAIN... and we kept going back and fourth, they would always tell me the same thing "Your account is unlocked. You have to pay, your account is unlocked, you have to pay and so on so on. What i did not know was (until i asked about it in the w101 forums) is that you HAVE to keep replaying back to the same email, eventually the email will become top priority and an ACTUAL person will reply... Eventually my email did get though to a live person and they finally unbanned me, and for my troubles they gave me a week of free membership. Which was fine for me. I'm still loyal to wizard101. It will continue to be a great go to game. But i'm not sure if i will be spending anymore $ on it since the worlds are getting harder and harder, and no one in my friends list is ever on anymore. (Like it they use to be in 2009!)
Awesome game. Very underrated. Starting to pick up a good audience now. No complaints.
