“My own experience was perfect!”

I do not question the negative experiences that many other consumers have reported, but my own recent experience was very different from theirs. I ordered very hard to find Boulder Canyon potato chips with only sea salt added and I received them promptly. The bags were intact and the chips were fresh (with a "Best if used by date" more than three months from the date I received the package. World Market provided a valid tracking number so that I could track the shipment. All in all, I found the company to be reliable and trustworthy.

“Don't Apply For Their Credit Card if You Think You Will Receive an Incentive...Nope!”

I applied for a World Market credit card because I was planning on purchasing large ticket items and the incentive they were offering at time of application was 20% off my first order. The good news-when I applied they emailed me the 20% off code to use. When I finally received my credit card in the mail the incentive expired. I called to see if World Market would make good on it and they refused. I won't be purchasing from World Market and am cancelling their credit card.

I ordered a chair from worldmarket.com on the 5th, for store pick up. The online experience was ok, except for the part where they said paypal refunds will be in the form of store credit. I normally pay with paypal because of convenience, but this time, I got concerned, so I used Visa.The store pick up was supposed to happen on the 10th. Unfortunately, I didn't receive an email letting me know the status of my order by the 11th. So, on the 11th, I went to the store. There, I met a lady who wasn't being super nice (as store employees normally are). When she asked for the order number, I approached her to show her my phone, but she was like, "hey you're too close, we're trying to social distance here". Not a problem, but she could have said it in a nicer way, plus if they're really keen about social distancing, why don't they install plexiglass barriers like everyone else? Anyway, she checked my order number and said it missed the truck! So, it'll take be there by the 13th. Again, no problem, I'll wait! Today, it's the 15th, so I thought I'd check online through the chat. On the chat, the person on the other side told me, the order was cancelled "on the 6th" because of low inventory! It's been 19 days, why haven't you sent me an email then letting me about the cancellation?! No response of course. So, I asked for my refund. They told me it's going to take 5-7 business days. So, I told them if it was cancelled on the 6th, surely it's been more than 7 business days. They answered to check with the store! I told them, I don't want to go to the store again, and I would rather verify online, but they said, since it's a store pick up, then I must check at the store. "I ordered online", I said, to no avail! When asked if there's anything they can help with, I asked that they send a cancellation email, which they agreed to. But, it's been several hours now, and no cancellation email has been sent (of course!), not in my inbox, not in the spam folder, nothing!
Well, while I was quite upset with my shopping experience, I felt more sad for the chat agent and the whole company. It's clear where this is all going. Bad customer service companies can't last in this economy. I'm never shopping there again!

I have had the worst experience with World Market ever and I would never order ANYTHING from this incompetent company again...
I placed an order on Sunday 11/11 and updated my address to AZ from MI when I received an email confirmation they mixed part of my MI address and AZ address together. I called within an hour and thought it could be changed. The customer service rep told me she could not change it and I would have to contact my postal service or who ever was shipping it and change it with them or let it ship to the wrong address and come back to the store., Hung up!
Called back the next rep took my address told me he would put it on a supervisors deck and it would be taken care of. So I called Monday morning 11/12 and spoke to a Supervisor who stated it was not to late and it would be taken care of, matter of fact she called me back to ask me for my address again. Then Tuesday night I get a new email that it shipped, low and behold it's still the old address. I called spoke to ANOTHER supervisor and she stated there was not no guarantee that the address would have been changed and now I would have to let it ship to an address that doesn't even exist and wait for that to happen.
I was unable to talk to someone who could actually give me answers or tell me that my over $500 purchase was gonna be taken care and be able to reach me by Thanksgiving. I'm so disappointed and disgusted with the incompetence of how this was handled as will never give them my business. Buyer beware Cost Plus don't care about you and what you spend with them!
Update-
I've been going back and forth with this company who has continued to give me misinformation about my shipment, that when I ordered it was intended for Thanksgiving. It's so disheartening when you not only don't receive your product, your money back or a solution for all you inconvenience's.
I have still not received my order of the refund I was told a week ago from Mike in the Customer Service management team. It is the 28th and I called and left a message for Mike in Monday the 26th to find out about the refund of my money.

2nd time now tried to order online and not only can online chat bot not LOCATE the order at all, even when it is SHOWING on my order page, but items i ordered to pickup at MY LOCAL store which SHOWS that the items ARE in stock, aren't even being put together by the store! Online said 'order ready for pickup today' and they had 5 hrs before closing and got no email saying ready for pickup. Today I called online cust. Svc. Telling them that bot not finding order, and on her end she said it's still not put together by local store (FYI: local store that is screwing up is ROSEDALE HWY store in Bakersfield). Prior time I tried to order online, got to store and they had NO RECORD of my order? (meanwhile online processed the order AND took my money, yet store can't find order?)... now again same issue, so obviously corp. couldn't care less about fixing problems, so back to shopping Amazon (so much for shopping at Cost Plus World Market anymore!). SO DONE! (PS: can't reach anyone at Corp, no emails either... only option is cust. Svc which of course is useless, just telling you what they see online which is same as you see=solves NOTHING!

Tip for consumers:
DON'T SHOP ONLINE to have store pickup.......NOTHING HAPPENS other than they take your money and you have to waste time cancelling because no one fills your order for pickup! ....you'll be sorry you ever shopped with them!

I ordered two of their large glass bottles of coconut soap and they got shipped to my house and apparently they got damaged which I know is not their fault that FedEx damaged them and send them back to them but it took like 17 days for me to find out that they got shipped back to them and then they just refunded my money instead of letting me know or sending out new ones and then I called them and I had to sit on hold for an hour and I asked them if we got disconnected if they would call me back so I didn't have to sit on hold again and they said no so I asked for a supervisor and I complained about that and she said that yeah they couldn't call us back that we had to just sit on hold for an hour each time we called and then she told me that they had just refunded my card and that supposedly they sent me an email explaining what happened which I never got and they were out of stock of the soap now so I wasn't getting any soap and I just said I hope you guys can keep up with the new demands that coronavirus is placed on large corporate businesses and told them I wouldn't be shopping there anymore

Horrible experience... We've bought many things from World Market over the years and when we moved into our new house we thought we'd give them a try for some major furniture items. We liked the Galvin Cafeteria table so we searched for a way to get a discount as we just missed a 30% off Tables sale. We found 20% off for signing up to their email advertisements. So I went to the checkout and told them we wanted the table. They replied that it was out of stock and they would be happy to order it. Great, Right? WRONG... They said, I can only pay once they get the table in and I come in to pick it up. They would not let me pay for it now and get the 20% off. I would have been ok with this, except the 20% off expired prior to their projection for when the table would get in and they would not honor the expired 20% off.

So, we gave up on the store option and went online. Turns out they have the table for the same price online. I put it in my cart and went to check out and there was a service fee and shipping fee that was equal to the 20% off coupon we had. Giving up on trying to save money and not wanting to drive 40 min back to the store we ordered the table. At the time of the order the "arrival date range was one week out. We waited the week and I got an email that said "good news, you table has shipped." Wait, what? It was supposed to be here tomorrow per the order. I called and they explained that that was when the table would arrive at the "shipper" Really? Since when does a consumer care when their purchase is arriving at the shipper. We want to know when it arrives at our door. The email said delivery within 7-14 business days. WOW... Amazon can ship anything in two days and it still takes World Market up to 14! Ridiculous.

I called customer service and complained. They said that since I was told that it would arrive today, to wait until tomorrow and if it doesn't arrive they will refund the shipping only. They knew it wasn't going to arrive today, I just got an email it shipped... So I played their game and called back the next day. They process a refund for shipping and told me expect the refund in 10 days. Again... 10 days? Wow...

I waited another full week for the shipper to contact me to set up the delivery. They came today as planned and... Come on, anyone can predict this. It was damaged. We rejected the shipment and I called World Market customer service and told them to refund it. They said they will only refund when the item arrives back at their warehouse and then it will take another 10 days. So I have to wait a week plus for the freight company to ship it back, then another 10 plus days before I'm credited back my money. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... From start to finish, I'll be at nearly two months.

NEVER AGAIN will I every buy anything from this horrible retailer. NEVER

Does this review come across as harsh? I hope so, because I'm Pissed Off!

Stay far away from this company and don't ever order anything from them
I stupidly placed an order for a three-piece sofa before reading reviews now that I've read the reviews and had the unpleasant of dealing with this horrible company I went ahead and canceled it 24 hours after purchasing it knowing about the law I knew my rights and what I was able to do so after calling customer service and explaining to them I spoke with pilot who is the tracking company they are the ones who do your delivery so they have not even so much as picked up the package and won't be for at least two weeks which I got an email on which you can do so I called them to let them know that my merchandise is sitting there in their warehouse and I want to cancel it because even if they send it I'm going to refuse it after 24 hours of the bull$#*! on the phone and then giving me every story that was mind you my calls are recorded since I am a full business and I informed them of the recording I then had to file a chargeback with my bank which was taken care of immediately since I did have all the proof which is an email stating the package was never picked up the items won't be picked up for a week or two off of the conversations to with the customer service representatives one who stated that they were going to cancel it as of yesterday which was Tuesday and calling on Wednesday nobody knew what I was talking about this is why recording so very important so people if you have a problem with this company which you will read the reviews before you purchase I'm going to contact the consumer affairs in Better Business Bureau and their area I sent a copy of everything I have to them as well remember you have what's called buyers insurance you can always File a charge back in a dispute with your credit card company do not let these businesses try and get away with this your credit card company will work with you on your side
