Ordered 2 in-stock items on a Tuesday. Paid for overnight shipping due to the fact I needed software to complete my comps for my diss. I needed the software no later than Friday. So I think "in-stock" should ship within 24 hrs, will have it by Thursday at the latest. I received one item on Friday morning and the other the next Tuesday afternoon. I had to go and buy the second item. Very poor customer service and communication. Just because it is in stock, means they will get to when they get to it. And since FedEx didn't deliver until Tuesday, its obvious they did not ship it on Thursday as they emailed me they did. And their prices are really no different than Staples for the same product.
I'm on day 5 waiting for a digital download. Really, just a code for a digital download. Literally, all they have to do is send me an email so I can use the software. It's not that hard. Phone customer service rep was unhelpful and rude. Not worth the savings. There are other, much better academic resellers out there. I wish I hadn't stumbled upon this one.
Tip for consumers:
If you have a deadline, don't use this site.
Are you a student? Do you teach? If you are either of these, you may be eligible for a huge break on software like MS Office, Windows 7, etc.
Before they can hook you up, you need to provide academic proof that you either work for a university, college, or K-12 place. If you qualify, you can get MS Office Professional for around $179.00. Is that sweet?
Of course it is.
I made an order over 400 dollars on Saturday, later I made a call on Monday and modified my order. At the end of the call, I asked if there was anything else I need to do before hanging up. The representative told me there was not, and I can just sit and wait for the items.
2 days past, nobody called me from this company. And my order was not shipped either.
I called them to ask what happened, they told me that they could not capture enough money from my Pay-pal.
I chose 2-day shipping and would like to pay for 20 dollars simply because I need my items in urgent. They kept the fact as a secret for two days, without even trying to sent me a email, without replying my email I sent the second day.
I canceled my order immediately and ordered the same item on Amazon. Guess what? I get a cheaper price with overnight shipping.
As a TX local company, they taxed me in MI for online shopping. They charged me for 20.5 dollars for 2-day shipping for a over 400 dollar order.
What I can say. They are simply terrible.
I vote SCAM! I ordered a product - which the website listed as IN STOCK. I paid for overnight shipping... and did not get the product. I called at 7 PM in the evening of the supposed delivery date after seeing on the website that my order was still "being processed" - and got an office in the Phillipines... who told me 4 different stories, including that the product was being sent by a 3rd party (not disclosed in the website) and that they had no control over when shipping took place (but they had no problem charging for overnight deliveryand leaving me with the expectation that I would get it the day after I ordered it). I requested that the order be cancelled --- they told me it would take 24-72 hours to process this request. I followed up with an email to the Company - telling them to cancel the order. I called first thing the next morning - again getting the Phillipines - only to be told that the product shipped yesterday afternoon. WHAT? No idea if and when the product may show up... only know that getting resolution through the Company is impossible since the call center is overseas and finding a number for a stateside office is impossible... Appears my only recourse is to contest the charges with my credit card company... NEVER AGAIN.
This is a great site for students all around (as long as you can provide proof of academic eligibility). Personally I think these guys give a pretty decent response time if you have a question or if you send them an email. It's pretty standard.
One of the huge things I love about this site is that when you're looking at a specific type of product (I'm going to use graphic tablets for an example) they sort them by the manufacturers of the products. So, say you try to only buy tablets from the Wacom Bamboo company (good choice btw lol) you can scroll down and it will have a header that says "Wacom". Then it sub-divides from there. (between the accessories, too bundles, etc.)
They have a MASSIVE amount of products of their site. (again, going to use tablets as an example) They have somewhere around 90 different products (between the different manufacturers, bundles, etc.). Not only is the product range massive, but they carry from the beginner level to advanced higher-end level products. Providing a wide range in price for all types of consumers on all types of different budgets.
Be sure to look at how much you're saving though, (this is not purely the sites fault more the manufacture) not all products will have a HUGE slash in price. Some things may only have a few cents off, whereas some items may be 85% off.
I would recommend this site to any student who is able (and willing) to provide proof of academic eligibility. My only recommendation past that is (and this applies mostly to software but sometimes other products too) that I would urge you to check the manufacturer's site before you commit to the buy. Sometimes they will have even better deals (most often the same though), or like in the case of the Autodesk company (striving in 3D design and engineering software) they have a student center where students may download the full product (for over 200+ products or so) for free (activation codes, product keys and all, totally free, no student edition with limited abilities, full products for free)
Academic edition software discounts for students, teachers and schools. Educational pricing available to college students, k12 students, homeschool students, faculty, universities, educational institutions and parents.
