Wanted to check them out, and see what they had to offer. They took me straight to billing before I could see their menu. Not impressed! I'll stick with their competitor.
I have been a customer for almost 2 years. At first, things were good. In the last 3 months, the quality of both their ingredients and service have slipped quite a bit. Each week, there is a quality issue with ingredients or an ingredient is missing. Then 2 weeks ago, the entire shipment went missing. And most recently, yesterday I received 3 out of 4 orders for the week. An entire order was missing except the recipe for it. The frequency at which these things are happening is crazy. I would say that it is no longer worth the money they charge which is a premium and that is because the size of the portions are getting smaller.
Blue Apron has changed our dinner game! Fresh ingredients, easy recipes, and diverse menu options. Everything is portioned correctly, cutting down on waste. A culinary win!
Recently joined Blue Apron, first parcel arrived barely on ice (with chicken no less) and the second parcel was a no show. I called Blue Apron and stated I have a RING Camera system and I am here all day, every day, the package is sitting in front of someone's door, but it's not mine. The CSR, "Oh I can't give you a refund until FedEx has a chance to correct the issue and that's not until 9pm. Ummmm, I live in SUNNY FLORIDA and today it's in the upper 80's. So I "AGAIN" state that FedEx attached a photo of my package sitting in the Florida SUN and in front of someone else's door. Folks, there's no fixing this and now I ponder whether or not that's what happened with the first box that was barely on ice? I ask for a supervisor and I get Mr. Personality, Lord hold my tongue. Just cancel my membership and issue a credit for today's delivery, because if FedEx attempts to fix this issue by bringing the box here, after it sat in the sun all day, I will promptly drop the box off at a FedEx facility. Imagine your box sitting outside in the 80+ degree temperatures with chicken inside it, whereas even the wild life would walk (NO RUN) past the box, because the STINK would be so foul. UGH, if you're going to partner with a company that simply hires people that have a valid drivers license (and that's not saying much these days, because they give them out like candy anymore), then both of you deserve to lose customers. So glad I'm closer to the exit rather than the entry, Lord have mercy on these poor souls. UGH! Go to the grocery store and NEVER chance where your box may or may not have ended up before it came to YOU!
I selected the 4 meals for 2 people to be delivered on Monday. The first box, which was just last week, never delivered. FedEx uploaded a picture of the delivery without any landmarks--I live in an apartment, so the most I could see was that it was in one of the multiple buildings. It was not in my building or the next. Blue Apron was kind enough to give me a credit on my account. Now today (21st), Tuesday, I still haven't received my Monday box. It was delayed in transit, which means the food is one day older... I am moving on from Blue Apron and going back to HelloFresh (have never had delivery issues with them).
They don't explain how their credits work, they don't give you the correct amount and their customer service is horrible. Was supposed to be given $230 in credits to be used over 6 weeks. Had to call customer service 3 times in 30 days about my credits but was never told they expire after 30 days so lost $55 in credits. Also there was a problem with all 4 boxes we got. Either the fresh produce was damaged or going bad or the sauce packets leaked all over everything. I like the meal plan concept so will look for a better one.
I canceled my subscription but was still charged for a extra week. We received a box with busted open mayonnaise spilled all over the other ingredients, reaching out to support I received a $0.90 credit, what a slap in the face! The recipes are amazing, that's why I gave them 2 stars, but the customer service is horrible and they are very clearly money hungry.
We knew we were in for a bad time when we first opened the box and all of the ingredients are randomly tossed together with a few smaller ingredients in unmarked bags that you have to rummage through. A lot of the directions are off on certain cook times and such that you really have to be aware of to avoid ruining the food. Worst of all is we paid extra for a specific meal and they left out over half of the ingredients! For 5 weeks straight they delivered my food warm, all ice packs completely defrosted, told me the food was still good as long as it was within 24 hours, well my food as well as ir thermoter said otherwise, the meat was at a nice 71 degrees with the actual boxes heat with my ir heat detector at 75. Every item was warm to the touch. Vegetables were actually HOT. The meat was warm. Threw away all the food as im not risking my health for some subpar delivery service using fedex(the worst carrier) to deliver perishable food. When i complained about this, they decided they would just cancel my account, no refund, because i complained too many times about recieving a hot box of food. Not to mention the many times the gel ice packs were always exploded in the box and all over the vegetables, as well as not properly sealing any of the meats so you would have boxes full of defrosted meat juice leaking on everything and as any normal person would know is a huge health hazard. This company lost a huge marketshare and stocks are down. And now i know why. Thank you for closing my account, i disputed with my bank to get my money back. Scam $#*! company delivering ecoli infested food. Stay away. Hello fresh is much better and so is dinnerly.
Super excited to try my blue apron coupon. It was, however, a huge disappointment. The meals are over rated, boxed, over salted garbage. They deliver on time but you have to sift through all the ingredients in the box before even starting to prepare. And when I say prepare, I mean PREPARE. You have to do everything!
The food is not worth the high ticket price. When they say 'free meals' they are lying
Great customer service. The food is delicious and the price is pleasant. Definitely worthy of a recommendation.
Ordering through Blue Apron is such a treat. Why use ubereats when you can order amazing food from amazing places and also get it delivered to your doorstep? Worth every penny and now I get to eat my way through the best in the country without having to leave my house.
A great food delivery service. They always fulfill all orders quickly and with high quality. They also have very responsive employees.
I really enjoy Blue Apron. There are so many meal delivery services nowadays, I like how easy it is to order, how easy it is to skip a week, How easy is to follow the recipe card. Meals always arrive on time and price per box/week is comparable to others in the market. Blue Apron is my top meal delivery service.
We were given Blue Apron meals for Christmas. The first order was wrong and the second showed up 3 days late and was spoiled. The next two were on time but mediocre. The next one was 3 days late and spoiled. The company gives you a credit but is not reliable in getting you deliveries. We closed our account and left the balance to them. Hope to never hear from them again. Hello Fresh seems to be much better and reliable.
We gave Blue Apron a try two times about a year apart. If we actually received the delivery the food, it was good and fresh and easy to prepare.
Unfortunately, the 9 out of 10 deliveries were cancelled by Blue Apron... claiming carrier issues. The biggest problem was that we had shopped and planned our menus around the service. They left us in a lurch so many times that we had to give up using them:(
About a year later, we thought we would try again and hoped they had solved their delivery problems. They didn't. We got our first order just fine and on time. The second one said it was on time for delivery, but the day of scheduled delivery said it was delayed. Two days later they cancelled our order. So zero meals for the week :( Back to the grocery:(
Tried to call them and find out what was really going on and maybe get them to fix the delivery problems. The rep was less than useless.
Finally cancelled and going back to Hello Fresh, at least They can get the food delivered!
My wife and I decided to subscribe to Blue Apron. Tonight we got our first order ever from them. Astonishingly, two of our three meals came with NO protein (shrimp in one case, chicken in the other).
Customer Service admitted they get their orders wrong 10% of the time!
We made the Cajun Shrimp & Zucchini Bake substituting chicken from our freezer for the shrimp they didn't send. It did taste very good.
There are lots of alternatives to Blue Apron.
We'll have to see if they can quickly address their order accuracy problems. Being able to count on them delivering the order is essential.
We moved cities and did not need blue apron anymore, so in about May-July of 2021 I emailed customer support to cancel my subscription (because this is the only way to cancel other than sitting on the phone line for hours) and never heard back. Of course, I eventually forgot to skip a few meals because months had gone by and my card was charged and the package sent to my previous address, which again I don't live at anymore. I emailed customer service TWO MORE TIMES and yet to this day, December 4th, 2021, I have not heard back or gotten my account cancelled. Really a bad business model, and I would highly discourage anyone looking to start a subscription with BlueApron, as these guys are just shady.
Food in Blue Apron is the most delicious! Already 6 months only your client. Well done, continue the same, success!
I loved the blue apron meal boxes, except for the chopping. The only reason I quit using them was because I found a cheaper option. Blue apron is on the pricier side. Otherwise a great option to make gourmet meals yourself.
Answer: This seems to be Blue Apron's way of holding up a (false, pseudo) customer base for purpose of over-inflating their numbers for investors.
Answer: Hello. You do not know what time the box will arrive, just which day, and you pick which day you want it. I have never had anything spoiled or overheated in our box; there are "ice packets" in it. So as far as choice of meals... when you first sign up you can make choices about things you don't want. We selected no seafood and no walnuts. I wouldn't go crazy opting out of stuff; you can imagine that takes away so many options for delicious recipes. If you have a lot of special food needs, I don't think a meal service is for you. Anyway, we get our box on Tuesdays and on Monday I receive an email saying my box is on its way and what recipes are in it. That email also tells you what's coming for the next week. You can change your recipes up to a few days ahead, which might be convenient if you are worried about what you are getting. You can also go online and see many weeks out and change any of those too. I will say this though, if you are picky picky and not open minded about trying new recipes, I don't know if you should sign up. Blue Apron's recipes are very unique and have a lot of ethnic flavor profiles and spices and things like that; but they have all been great, again, if you want to have fun and try new things. There have been a couple where we thought maybe we should change that, maybe we won't like it, but we didn't and just went ahead and tried it and we have not regretted it once. You can see more on the review I posted.
Answer: They DEFINITELY hide the "cancel" button - I had to email them to find it, and they said "you can always just pause your deliveries!" but you have to hand click each week you want paused, and you can only go a few weeks out. If you do that and forget, deliveries will start up again automatically. It felt very sneaky.
