“Very good news website where as long as you don't swear,...”

Gary S.
6/25/13

Very good news website where as long as you don't swear, your comments are added and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I have noticed that on many issues, other news sites (especially newspapers) either do not allow comments at all, delete them very quickly, or take out the comments they don't like. I think Yahoo stands above the rest for it's ability to uphold democracy and freedom of speech. Well done Yahoo!

“Authoritarian”

The Yahoo news page links garbage news articles from low-grade leftist sources like Salon, HuffPost, "SheKnows", etc. They clearly scoured the web for sources that were far-left enough for them. So I was glad when Yahoo brought back the ability to comment on articles (during the Trump years they disabled comments on propaganda articles where dissent was not allowed). But then I was permanently censored without warning or explanation after posting an article comment that did not violate user policies but went against their politics. They also deleted my comment history. If you're not a paying customer, which I now refuse to be, they provide no support or means of contacting them to complain. Furthermore I have seen other reviews written by users whose email accounts were suddenly deleted without warning so I've begun transferring important emails and accounts to another address. If you have an account at Yahoo, know that you are in the hands of immature, vindictive people who don't care about you. Do not keep important emails here or use this account as a login elsewhere. You never know when it will go away and you won't be able to access your other accounts. Yahoo offers large mailboxes, even to non-paying customers, but it can all suddenly disappear if they decide they don't like you.

Yahoo sites are poorly organized. The homepage shows news articles, but the articles are not categorized in any way so if you are looking for a specific news subject (e.g. business, technology, etc.) you have to hunt for it. I used to read articles on Yahoo, but now it's actually easier and faster to do a web engine search by typing in the type of news you're looking for. In the past I could simply click on a category on the Yahoo homepage, but not so anymore.

Yahoo mail is tedious. They have improved the spam filters some. I don't get as much obvious spam as before. The bad side is that now some spam is designated as e-mails from Yahoo "sponsors" that you cannot delete. There was an option to stop receiving messages from sponsors a few months ago which I went through the steps to opt out, but that option was just for show since I still get them. These sponsor spams show up at the top of the list of e-mails. Also it takes forever for spam filters that you create to start working. I made a filter for these pharmacy spams and set it up for them to go to the trash folder. I kept getting them in my inbox for about a month after creating the filter.

Another thing I experienced was getting automatically signed up for Yahoo mail alerts about stories. They tracked the type of articles I read on the homepage and sent me tons of these alert messages. I went through the option of opting out and it said it would take more than a full week to change my preferences and to stop receiving them. Funny, it took them about a few days to start sending them to me, but when I want them to stop it takes a lot longer.

Yahoo Flickr is hard to go through. Yes, the format looks very pretty, but again, it's hard to use.

While Yahoo looks pretty, I want something that's also user friendly. I don't want to have to click on a bunch of items to figure out what to do. Years ago it had a very user friendly format, but this has changed. I feel like I did when I first got windows 8: lots of pretty colors, but that's it.

On June 30,2021 my husband and I purchased a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck from Mr. Ali at BEST IMPORTS in Cary NC -Thankfully we did purchase a WARRANTY!
July 1st engine light came on, but we assumed that it was not anything serious
July 3rd took truck to Dodge Dealership for service –
(Notes - We are looking at removing heads and get down to the cam and lifters to inspect in order to diagnose the problem-Service Advisor Capital Chrysler Jeep Dodge)
July 7th – Automobile is still with the service department at CJDR
We paid $24,500 CASH!
I have called/text Mr. Ali on several occasions with NO RESPONSE! He states that he did not get my calls or messages
Stay Away from this Car Lot! Mr. Ali appeared to be honest, fair, and trustworthy he actually seemed as if he wanted to help us, he assured us that the vehicle was thoroughly checked in a full service facility. There is NOTHING wrong with this truck "his words exactly". I believed him! He had a nice, calm, trusting demeanor. I cannot believe that during a Pandemic after the world has experienced so much pain and hardship that a person would inflict even more adversity and suffering on a family.
DO NOT Trust this Guy!

Used to be really good, now it's worse than the worst. I wish there was a lower option than one star, because that's what it would earn now. As their policies have changed, they've become a major problem.

1. You can no longer sign up for an account without inputting a mobile phone number. This, to me, is a stupid policy. What about people who don't have a cell phone? I don't; I had to ask one of my friends if I could use her old phone number just to create an account.

2. You can only associate so many email accounts with one phone number, and you have to jump through hoops of fire to remove a phone number from an account, because you have to put in either another phone number or an alternate email.

3. I have many different email accounts, all of which I use for various purposes. I play a lot of online games, most of which allow you to have different game accounts but they all have to have separate emails. I have 2 main emails for most everything, 2 main ones for the websites I own, and a total of 18 others. Yeah I know it sounds crazy but I use every single one, logging in to each one every 2 weeks. I recently signed up for another account on one of my favorite sites, and I put in one of the alternate emails. When I went to log in to that account on Yahoo, it asked for my security code. After I put it in, it told me that the account hadn't been logged into for 2 weeks and was deactivated. I was pretty upset and decided to try another email. ALL 18 of my alternate emails were deactivated for "long-standing time". 2 weeks. Seriously?

4. After the email deactivation fiasco, I tried to recreate them. Now, I'm 20 years old. I got to the part of the form where you have to input your birthday and I did. I double checked to make sure it was right and then re-checked the entire form. When I pushed sign-up, it said that I didn't meet the age requirements.

I'm done with Yahoo. They're a piece of trash website now, and they're really not worth it anymore.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use it.

It is unlawful for a landlord to retaliate and terminate your month to month rental lease -- without good reason -- I am angry with Tara Properties. We lived at Paragon Place, LLC for 3-years. Took very good care of the apartment -- cleaned the carpets twice a year, washed the windows, mowed the yard, reseeded with grass seed every year because when we moved in there was no grass at all and sand fleas had taken over. The place was ridden with bugs -- earwigs and sand fleas and silverfish -- we had pest control come out and spray -- but then Churchill & Associates filed bankruptcy, Paragon Place, LLC bought the property and Tara Properties took over managing the apartments -- they are not organized at all! The property manager signs documents to post on your door but has no idea what the document says or means -- had the audacity to complain because the owner wanted the doors painted but we weren't home to allow the painters in -- when the property manager was told that placing the Two Day--Notice of Entry on the door means that Tara Properties is responsible for ensuring the painters are allowed in -- not the tenants responsibility -- essentially Tara Properties insisted that we remain home so the doors could be painted. For three weekends, we left the apartment so the doors could be painted -- we presumed Tara Properties understood the documents they were posting on tenants doors. After I mentioned this to the property manager -- our month to month lease was terminated. It's all about the Benjamin's for rental property and property management in Oak Harbor. Essentially, Oak Harbor depends on transient military as 'cash cows.' If you are not from Oak Harbor -- you will soon know -- that you are not welcome. The locals want your money but not you in their town. Nepotism is at it's worst in Oak Harbor, Washington.

I'm trying to access my account. Unfortunately, i was incarcerated for what yahoo considers an unusual amount of time, so they locked me out of my account due to "inactivity" the customer service rep says, but the website says due to unusual activity. I have the correct email and the correct password which is linked to multiple accounts. I need this email for one of the accounts because i do not remember the password. And the recovery email that is set up with the yahoo email address is no longer active DUE to the company that supplied me the email address. I wasn't able to update the recovery email when i had access to the yahoo email address because i wasn't able to access it. I spoke to 2 customer service reps and they wouldnt help me unless i paid for a monthly subscription. I told them that i didnt have the money so they said well does someone else have the money? Obviously if i had that option, i would have used it. The send you in loops all to try to get money out of you only to unlock a dang email address! The thing is, id probably end up spending actual money once i had a job-- if they unlocked my email which would have furthered use of their services. When i asked to speak with the supervisor, whoever Adrienne is said that they wouldn't be able to help me either. Well, i hope your supervisor will be happy to know you can answer for them. It sounds like Adrienne needs a promotion. The thing is, they say that i can unlock my email provided the "FREE ONLINE HELP" but that only sends me in "loops" for:
"enter your email", "no recovery email? Try another way!", and it just keeps going for a loop between like three entries. It doesn't make any sense. This is where they get you. And customer service, thus far, has been of no help.

Adrienne just put me on hold and said she couldnt find a supervisor... and she offered a call back. Now lets see if they actually CALL BACK.

I am frustrated. Over a dang email address. Like really, come on. They must be desperate for money and customers. Well, this is not one way of gaining a customer back. If anything i will continue to let people know what AWFUL customer service "YAHOO" has... only focused on ONE THING: lining their pockets.
