I chose to post an job listing with this company because as someone who once was a stay-at-home mom I loved the idea of being able to hire a mom. I own a small mental health clinical practice and was in need of an assistant who could work part-time and from home so I thought I might try to post on Hire My Mom. Not only does the company charge a rather large fee just to post a job an ad (while reputable sites such as indeed.com allow free ad job postings), but, after I crafted my ad to post, I received an email saying they would not post my job unless I created a lnked-in page and linked to them through my linked-in profile (i. E. free promotion). As a psychologist I do not have a Linked-in page. (I don't want patients seeking contact info for other patients.) However, t even if I did have a Linked-in page I do not think I would link to them as the tactic struck me as coercive. I wound up asking the company to take down my listing. What a shame. All I wanted to do was help a stay-at-home mom by giving them a resume building experience while, it seems, all the company really wants is profit.
Hi Monique. I just noticed my response did not populate here back in September when I originally responded so I am responding again. We do not require a LinkedIn connection but it is one of the ways we verify the person posting the job is actually that person. Unfortunately we've had scammers pose as someone to post a job as a way to scam unsuspecting users. We do our best to prevent that from happening by verifying in a variety of ways and LinkedIn is just one of those. If someone prefers not to connect or does not have LinkedIn, we do have other ways to verify them before approving the posting. We are a niche website and tailor to small businesses and moms (women) and do not have the mega users or budget of the mega job sites. We hope that you have found a site that works well for your needs. If we can be of help in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Sincerely,
Lesley
