on 9/6/15Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this:
I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
My daughter received two attempted scam requests but then she did receive on legit baby sitting job without paying fees for care.com but using the basics. You just have to be patient and a bit lucky I think. I really do not think much of care.com site. They do no not seem to care about warning their customers of the many many scams that seem to happen daily on the site. I asked her to take her information off the site
At first, Care.com wanted me to pay a membership fee & I was looking to employ a house cleaner. Didn't & just left the site. Somehow my request got transferred to a site called Thumbtack.com. No fee to join, but also no house cleaner that would show up. Twice this happened as I thought maybe first no show was a fluke,(they had a flat tire & it had to be special ordered? Yeah, right) but second one called morning of cleaning day, crying & having a domestic dispute. Be careful.
Never! Care.com is a scam with scammers working it as well. Never give anyone any money.
No. The people needing help pay a fee. BUT, if you get accused of anything, Care.com will believe the client above the police and not only drop you, but spread the lies to others. Get yourself some business cards (Vistaprint.com) and pass then out. Good luck!
