I signed up to a plan with Choice Home Warranty to cover all major appliances, including my air conditioner with an effective start date of coverage on October 13,2023. On that day, my air conditioner compressor failed, causing electrical interference on other appliances. I was relieved knowing I had recently signed up with Choice Home Warranty, only to find out that my air conditioner wasn't covered because they claimed it entered the plan with a preexisting issue. The unit worked fine on the morning of October 13,2023, so I was perplexed with what they told me regarding my claim. I would strongly urge anyone reading this review to not do business with Choice Home Warranty, as they have no intention of paying for appliance failure. They're a scam and shady company. If you enter into a contract with them, rest assured you WILL NOT have coverage on a claim. I give them ZERO stars! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!

I initially submitted the claim through customer service and was informed that they would locate a technician for the job. Shortly thereafter they informed me I could use my own vendor and get a reimbursement, but the vendor would have to submit a diagnosis of the problem and a quote for work before they could approve the project. My vendor never contacted CHW with the required info so I located another vendor and had them do the work. When I tried to submit the receipt for the project to CHW they assigned a "Case Manager" to me whose sole purpose was to inform me that they denied my claim because I used a company that was not approved by CHW. It's obvious to me that their business model is to maximize the number of customers with inflated or fake reviews and the use of sales people to contact potential customers and convince them to use the service. The "Case Manager" was even able to cancel my policy and when I reengaged with her to appeal her decision she informed me that I was no longer a customer and could not appeal. Choice Home Warranty is a total scam. Buyers beware

This home warranty is completely highway robbery, they make pay deductible for declined services. They say because the technician from Moonstar Appliance lied to them, they just still your money and won't repair anything. First customer service is rude talking to you like you are trash where supervisors are asked to speak to them always say to tell them no supervisor is available but will call them back. Where weeks go by and no call at all. Moonstar Appliance works hand in hand this way all their claim are declined. I believe they know I'm Latino and treat me worse recommend being careful or staying away from these highway robbery companies.

Run away! I have hade Choice for a while now and have nothing to say good about them. They are crooks. Just had a claim for a GE induction cooktop that would not power up. Their technician diagnosed a bad power supply, and it would need to be replaced. When they submitted it to Choice I was told that it could not be fixed. Offered ~$370 dollars to replace a $2400 cooktop. With this information, I ordered a new cooktop (new model of same unit) and had someone install it. Now we have a brand-new cooktop that still will not power up. Called an electrician and only problem was a tripped breaker. So, I'm out the $2500, $300 to install, and $200 electrician bill. This is only one of the many claims that cost me money and never got a repair done through them. They did the same thing when we had two central AC units get hit by lightning a few years ago. They sent out 3 technicians and none knew what to do. The last Choice tech never did came because the appointment was set up for a month down the road and Choice said we were stuck with them. We live in Florida, and it was summer. I called a real company and got then fixed quickly. That is just two things, there were others.

We have an insurance coverage with Choice Home Warranty to cover repairs and or replacement for our main home appliances and equipment. We recently had issues with our AC unit and contacted them and requested for a technician to come and have a look at it. Their conclusion was that the AC unit required cleaning and adding refrigerant. We were not satisfied with the technician that Choice Home Warranty. We subsequently hired another technician, separate from Choice Home Warranty, which evaluated the system performed the cleaning and adding of refrigerant required Choice Home Warranty. The AC system still was not cooling properly so we contacted Choice Home Warranty. They required us to open another claim and pay for another technician which we did. The technician concluded that the unit coils were old and needed replacement and that the unit had minor leaks. He suggested add a substance to seal the leaks and adding of refrigerant only after that could he measure to show that the coil is the problem and not working efficiently. After he submitted his information to Choice Home Warranty they immediately closed the claim and refused to work with us without any explanation. We have had a similar issue before with them, where they took 3 months and numerous visits to fix a problem we had with our range/oven. We again filing a complaint for this issue as they are not willing to resolve it. They are very happy to take our money but never when it is their turn. I Have been told by people do work for them that they are famous for doing this and waiting for the customer to give up in order not to pay.

Choice Home Warranty is a scam! My water heater went out and they sent a tech out to look at it. I needed a new water heater and I live in a mobile home. I didn't realize that there's a difference in water heaters for regular homes versus mobile homes. The previous owner has installed a water heater that goes into a regular home instead of one that goes into a mobile home. Since the previous owner, NOT me, installed the wrong one, Choice Home Warranty said that they would replace my water heater with what was currently in here. WTF? Yeah, that would void out my insurance if a flood or fire happened from it. So my question is, why won't Choice Home Warranty do the right thing and replace it with the correct one? I ended up paying out of my pocket for a new water heater and Choice Home Warranty can suck it! This is a horrible company with no morals or values. Run far far away from them and don't ever buy into their lies or over priced plans!

I am filing this as my only way to express my absolute dissatisfaction with Home Choice Warranty quality of service.
I have opened a case on Sat, Apr 30th for water leaking through my kitchen ceiling.
A plumber was scheduled for Mon, Apr 1st. The response from the plumber after a 15min investigation (no ceiling was cut through, just visually inspecting the area) was that this was an AC drain issue, and asked me to open a second case for an AC technician to come.
I was obliged to open a second case, get billed with a second $75 fee and get an AC tech for Tue, Apr 2nd, while the ceiling continued to drip. The conclusion was that it was not an AC drain line fault, but a plumbing issue.
So, I had to request for the second time to get a plumber for Wed, Apr 3rd. A different plumber was assigned this time, who visited our home, found the issue and filed a report for Choice approval for repair.
Choice came back and rejected the coverage claiming that the issue was caused by poor pipe construction, 20 years ago when my home was built.
I consider such statement completely false and deceiving as how can you call a connection "bad' after 20 years working flawlessly. On the contrary, I would call this a reliable connection as it worked for 20 years and it is clearly a wear and tear situation. I have called on my own expense $500 an independent licensed plumber who confirmed my statement in written which I have formally communicated to Choice Warranty, asking them to cover my legitimate request. Their response was that they can only accept their own assigned plumber assessment and no other plumber.
Following this I decided to cancel my contract as Choice was not ashamed to offer me a free month compensation ($55) for the $500 I had to pay out of pocket to get the pipe fixed.
So, not only I got almost a week lost while my home damage was getting worse day after day, not only I was forced to pay 2 fees because of wrong assessment, but also eventually I got my claim rejected based on a no-justified irrational excuse. My learning is never again Home Choice Warranty as there is no way that you can ever get your claim for house issues as they will always consult their own contractors and conclude poor quality or poor maintenance.

I have got similar stories from multiple people I talked with about home issues or device issues that were not covered by Home Warranty on a very systematic basis.

I paid in $50 per month for years. When things went wrong they often were "not covered" - like my fridge WAS covered but my ice maker in the fridge was NOT covered? They made me pay extra each month to cover that. Then when my HVAC all broke they only covered part of it and didn't replace it with a similar replacement. I got a much inferior unit and - get this - I had to pay $1000! Don't use them

Technicians/plumbers, etc refuse to work with Choice due to non payment of work done. As a result they have little local resources to call on for customer service. Two selections for work on our home were for more than three hours from our home and refused to service us. One selection after we were advised they would be coming told us they fired Choice two years previous due to non payment. Two claims which would require a technician about 15 minutes each to repair were denied. No solid reason why. Another time they simply refused to pay. Absolutely the worst home service company out there.

Choice Home Warranty promises protection in the event of home emergencies. They fixed my washer early on into the term of my contract, though slower than I'd have liked. I then contacted them this January after my furnace went out on a Friday, and temperatures fell below zero. It took them over 48 hours to assign a furnace technician to me, while my home fell below 45 degrees inside. The appointment was scheduled Tuesday the following week, and upon review, the technician said the earliest available date they could get my furnace equipment in was February 13th, nearly a month after my initial claim. To date, CHW has yet to resolve my problem and customer service continues to evade my attempts for restitution. This is unacceptable and not worth the value put in whatsoever.

They keep changing the contractor even when the contractor is telling us they can get the parts then they want us to pay a separate fee for getting new contractors and they won't approve the contractor to fix issues it's been going on for over a month and now we have to leave town for cancer treatment and they want us to re-open a claim when we get back and pay again for them dropping the ball not us and when we reached out to customer service they were extremely rude and keep telling us that's just how it is, this has been a extremely bad experience and do not recommend to anyone else.

2:45 received reimbursement option via email; not sent via text even though my main number of the claim is a mobile number; so I did not see this email until I got home at 9pm
Survey received via email but no option to input comments on why the rating was given.
Blower motor out with cold temps could result in a possible water pipe issue; without a blower we are using a lot of propane to bring the rooms up to temperature.
Sun 10:52 still no tech assigned and once the claim in submitted the phone number cannot be updated; I wanted to change the phone number from my cell phone number to my home number now that I am at home all day today. I had made plans to visit family close by for the rest of the afternoon yesterday.
Monday 9:20 – still no tech assigned to the issue; I am starting the claim reimbursement process and a tech from my propane provider has assigned a tech to come out today; however, my local tech does not deal directly with insurance or warranty companies; I will need to submit the information myself and take pictures my self once the local tech has provided their assessment. They state that no one in the area deals with Choice because of slow or no pay.

Put in repair order for my garbage disposal. The "repair" man showed up with a pencil and 2 small cheap screwdrivers. The noise alone coming from the disposal was like I had a whole drawer full of silverware stuck in there. He turned it on once and said it was fine. Nothing was wrong with it. Also had a leak under the sink kept asking me for tools that I did not have wondering why he didn't bring up any knowing that he had a job to do, he finally asked me for some cardboard and a can of vegetables put it underneath the pipe and told me never to move it. Was there less than 15 minutes and charged me $75. Did absolutely nothing did not repair a thing! When talking to choice # Warranty after the fact they did not care one bit never offered to have somebody else come back to fix it properly or refund the $75. Do not waste your money biggest scam I have ever come across!

Do not buy a home warranty from Choice Home Warranty (CHW) for any reason. Our experience with CHW is terrible. Not only have they failed to repair anything, their technician caused damage to our home and left a huge mess of raw sewage. He was trying to clear a clog and made no effort to avoid spreading sewage around the bathroom, hallway, entry, etc. He did not know how to use his tools, scratched the floor in the bathroom with his tools, and damaged the wall. The technician was grossly incompetent. More importantly, CHW claims no responsibility for the technicians they send out. Rather do anything to remedy the situation, the representative of CHW kept telling me that I would understand if I had read their contract. In other words, they use their contract as an excuse to avoid making repairs or taking any responsibility. I have been very patient with CHW up until now, but it it painfully clear that we would be better off if we had never dealt with CHW.

Choice Home warranty is the absolute WORST home warranty I have ever worked with. My heater went out on the 10th of November and they NEVER sent anyone out to fix it. They did, however, said I could always pay for it and submit it for a refund-lol. Yeah right like I'd ever trust them! I did that 2 years ago when I had another company come out and fix something and then they refused to reimburse me because I didn't give them all the contractors information before I had him fix the problem. I paid for 3.5 years in advance and they're a scam artist! DON'T USE THEM OR TRUST THEM!

An inspection of my A/C revealed a cracked heat exchanger. I confirmed it with another A/C technician of my choosing, and again with one of theirs. None saw any evidence of anything other than normal wear and tear. Choice home warranty rejected it because they concluded the crack was caused by "a corrosive build up on the outer shell and rust which causes premature cracking". By the way, the A/C is six years old.

This company give you the run around. And they are liars. Unethical. I paid upfront for 3.5 years $1,200. When I didn't get anywhere with any of my claims a year after signing up, I had to call like 100 times just to cancel. And when I was finally cancelled my refund to be will be $500 out of the $1200 which means they took from me $700 for one year and just gave me the run around and wasted $65 each visit without getting any claims approved. For the refrigerator claim, one month later and they could not assign a technician. They claimed sears was assigned when no one showed up. I had to replace AC unit and now I have to replace refrigerator because I trusted in a home warranty company that are nothing but scammers. Dont waste your money with them. Horrible. Worse than horrible.

I was quoted a specific price and the salesman did not give it to.me in writing which I requested. My service call fee is 20 dollars higher than quoted and I've only gotten the runaround trying to find out why. Terrible company. Filed one claim and they denied me, but they have no problem taking my money. They are relentless with renewals. I have had over 10 phone calls and countless emails. They do not understand that 1) they screwed me on a basic broken dishwasher claim 2) I have asked them to stop calling & selling me to renew.

If I could leave a 0 review I would. Prior to contracting with Choice Home Warranty I called and spoke to a representative. I asked several questions of the representative that I spoke with one being "if one of my appliances goes out does it cover full replacement"? We were just relocating and buying a house in the Houston area and the representative told me yes that it would be replaced with a like item minus our service fee. A couple months in the house we reported a problem with the dishwasher. A technician came out, told us he'd have to order the part and would return when it came in. Shortly after, a representative from Choice contacted us and said that the part could not be replaced and they would cover 249.00 towards a new dishwasher. Never mind that the dishwasher in our home originally cost 1100.00. I elevated the claim and was still denied saying that there was not another dishwasher that had all the same functions. Not only that, to get the 249.00 it would be in the form of a gift card to Lowe's and it would be 30 days before getting it. Talk about furious! This company is deceptive. This past week I tried to file a claim on line but I could only list one item on the claim even though the items were all plumbing related so I called to speak with a representative. He did away with the claim I had filed and started over listing all the issues so that the plumbing tech could address all the issues. One of the problems was water coming from the side of the sink with the disposal on it. I told the representative I thought it might be coming from the disposal connection or maybe not. When the plumber came and assessed the problems he called to get the ok to fix them. They refused the repair on the disposal connection. It is not the disposal but the connection. I called and argued with them because the plumber had the part to fix it but they claim it would have to be another claim. So they wanted me to make another claim and pay another fee so the same company could come out and fix the problem. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Beware of this garbage company. Do not buy any of their garbage aftermarket warranty products. You are better off just putting your money in a pile and setting it on fire. For over one month now we have been waiting for them to send someone out to fix what they are contractually obligated to fix. Our garage door. Claim was never denied. They agreed to send someone out. They give you a four hour window when someone will come out. When you call out of work and move your day around to accommodate that nobody shows up. For over thirty days we have dealt with this. When you call customer service they just spew out nothing but lies. They will not keep their word. They will just lie to you and keep kicking your issue down the road. This is twice already they send someone out who doesn't know what they are doing. My dryer isn't working instead of just writing proposal for why it's not working the tech takes the dryer apart and leaves. Never to be heard from again. Choice refused to pay for it to be repaired and didn't inform me in a timely matter. No phone call. I had to go online to look up claim. So the dryer is in pieces the tech didn't even have the decency to put the drum back in dryer. This company is awful. You pay all year long and when you finally have a claim they won't take care of you. Stay clear of them. Unsatisfied customer
