i am trying to place an order but in the first screen it shows my total as $48.53 but then at the place order screen it takes away the $10 discount and changes the amount to $58.43. Why?

Coupon can't be used on item that are already discounted or on sales. If you use a coupon on a discounted item, the original price will be charged. In such case, please just remove the coupon to get the best price.
