Hi, At the moment it's our only payment method, we're working on better ways to improve this. You can try contacting 211 United Way for a referral to a local program in case ours doesn't work for you.

Answer:

Hi Mike, Our volunteers are reminded monthly to update their availability, unfortunately not all of the volunteers do it. We also make calls everyday to keep the data base updated and we're currently working on this issue. You can contact us at help@elderhelpers.org for further information.

If i sign up to find a volunteer and give my credit card number how do i cancel my membership once i find a volunteer. the fee is called a monthly charge, how long does elderhelp continue to bill? one of the videos on the elderhelp website states that the women received her yearly code, does that mean that elder helpers will bill $50 per month? Answer:

Our service is designed to let volunteers create a profile and then wait for elders or families to contact them, When a volunteer subscribes to our program we send them a training kit to help them be prepare and ready to volunteer. To secure the safety of our seniors, we encourage all volunteers to get a background check. Background checks are done by IntelliCorp. Our volunteers pay for their own background checks, unfortunately, not all the volunteers do it. Right now, we are working in a safer and more personal way to recruit volunteers, ensuring the safety of our members is our most important task. Answer:

Hi Lori, We usually help before full time care is needed or in complement of professional care. You might want to use our service as a complement, every little bit of help helps but I would not recommend you signing up if you are solely counting on our volunteers to be there every single day at fix times as the availability of our volunteers is always changing. We are also not getting involved with prescribed medication, bathing and help with financial transactions. You can try calling 211 United Way, they might be able to refer you to someone. My dad has to go get kemo every two weeks and is in the hospital for a few hours. do the volenteers wait for them or just drop them off and come back? Answer:

That would be up to the volunteer, it is up to you to talk to the volunteer and see how much they can help. Please note that we do not recommend using volunteers to get to important doctor appointments, especially if the doctor would require the consultation to be paid even if the patient does not make it to the appointment. Volunteers are happy to give rides but of course cannot be expected to be as reliable as professional transportation services such as taxis or medical transportation.

We have a couple (cousins) who need some help. my husband and i are snow birds and their children live in atlanta. they do not need permanent care but rather help to go to the bank, shopping, and certainly friendly relationship with an individual who would care enough to sometime just listen. their needs vary somehow depending how they are doing at times. eric had a stroke a few years ago but he is o.k except for the need of a walker. ilse is very preoccupied with her health. we think she is pretty well at this time but we have to remember that she had cancer 3 times. she is a holocaust survivor and suffer from post traumatic disorder which is well controlled by medication. she needs to talk sometimes. they live in a community where they get 2 meals a day, weekly home cleaning, transport to the doctors they also have organized transport for shopping, unfortunately they both are using walkers and bus transportation and waiting times are not really good for them. most of their income goes for their living expenses and further expenses for care must be kept to a minimum. the name of your organisation was given to us. they live in boca raton, fl. anything you could do for them........how does your organisation works. what are the costs involved. thank you for your speedy answer. jackie and kurt roubicek ps they do not use a computer. Hi Jackie, sorry, our intake process must be done online, and they would also need a computer in order to access the volunteers information. I'm so sorry, you can try contacting 211 United Way for a referral to another program.

Our volunteers help out for free which is why we advertise free help however elderhelpers.org asks for a donation to cover our operating costs and continue providing convenience to elders and their families in locating volunteers near them with the correct profile, skills and desire to help, while controlling the number of users.
